  1. Marshall Hilliard still acts and has recurring gigs on GH, Y&R & Days all this year as Cops. He was also the original Dylan on YR. He auditioned for it. Steve Burton got the role. However he wasnt there to film a scene so they had Marshall be Dylan when they showed him or the side of him reading the newspaper

Cool! I didn't know they had auditions going on for this role.

bandstandmike is uploading episodes from early 1996 on YouTube. Damn, Rick Hearst is so damn handsome it's distracting. tongue.png

  2. Thanks for clearing that up guys! How did Nikki fit in all of this? She suddenly had a crush for Cole? Though I have to say she really looked wonderful.

I liked Ryan a lot back then, but I have to admit watching these clips he comes off as a real jerk. What was the deal with him and sex?! Did I hear him correctly when he told Nina 'You know, we are not having sex every night..."? LOL

  3. I remember Russell Lawrence being very smarmy and unlikable, and that clip alone reinforces that. But he was very attractive even with the scruff!

The guy was too hot to handle! wub.png I'd love to see him again. I seem to remember he started only because they were waiting for RH to be available and take over the role. RH was very hot too and did wonders with the role. Many people take him for granted because he's always been good but we've got to admit that wonderful Carter Mills storyline would have not been as exciting without Rick Hearst in the role.

  4. Hi guys,

I've been watching Y&R since the early 90s and have been lurking on this thread for a while (working my way from the beginning)... I used to post episodes on youtube under this name but they deleted all of them... I decided to start uploading again... for now here is the 1994 primetime ep... hope you enjoy!

I'm sorry the videos were removed. Thank you so much for taking the time to post them again! I enjoyed the episode you posted a lot.

Y&R has the best score in daytime. Seriously.

I can't believe how slutty Nikki came off while flirting with Cole! I don't know much of Cole's history, but he was her daughter's dream husband! There's something that I wanted to ask you guys - I've seen clips of Cole & Victoria dating back to 1993 and others dating back to 1998 (the two of them were in a triangle with Shari Shattuck's Ashley, I think). Does it mean Vicky and Cole were an item for that long? Where did Ryan fit in all of this? From the flashbacks I saw in 2000, I thought Ryan was Vicky's longtime/endgame love... Can someone fill me in on the timeline?

I had to laugh seeing Cricket going all 'Rambo' in the gym LOL

So Paul's house later became Olivia's house. Did they explain it on screen? I loved that set.

Aunt Jack was at his best. He really looked like Nikki's gay best friend when he said he knew her so well. God only knows I've said that myself to a lot of my female friends too LOL

How cool was Drucilla stealing the key from Nate's apartment? Loved it. Loved the show. I'm in full Y&R nostalgia mode these days.

  5. It would've been great if people could've put egos aside for the greater good and went with what was best for the show and the health of the show. I guess TPTB never planned on times when things wouldn't be so flush.

You're right, no one could have ever thought that the show would be reduced to what it is today. I mean, I know I didn't. Otherwise I would have saved every single tape! LOL

You know, what really pains me here is that there was this man, Bill Bell, who worked hard to make his 'baby' soap so interesting and successful (I don't care that it's just a soap, when you are writing and producing something, especially for so long, it becomes like a child and those in the showbusiness know this) only to see the show get completely dismantled by selfish, short-sighted morons once he was sick and later dead. This is the worst part.

  6. Heh I forgot about King as Dru. I do remember they did bring back Adam Lazarre-White of all people as Nathan for a heavenly sequence for a couple days after Olivia flat-lined.

You're right! I forgot all about it. So I gather he was the first Nathan? Wasn't the last one available?

Alex was fired because Ed wanted to get rid of any threats to MTS & Nikki.

He knew he couldn't get rid of Eileen so he chose to fire the easier option in Alex.

Whoah I can't believe it. I don't see how AD would be a threat to MTS. I mean MTS has been the show's dame (after Jeanne) for decades. If this was the actual scenario I will love Ed Scott a little bit less from now on tongue.png

  7. It was a feud over story direction and casting decisions. Scott was accused of interfering with Alden's writing(he was later charged with this in 2008 on Days) and basically he and Alden clashed over creative differences really. Hence why Donnelley was a victim as she was fired over which direction to take Diane in. Same thing happened with Douglas.

That was such a SHAME. The show was on fire with them at the helm. Their power struggle was the beginning of the end. I believe if ES and KA had teamed up it would not have been so easy for Sony to get rid of them. Scott's attitude ended up damaging both his and KA's position.

I forgot to mention the triangle involving Alex. Yes it was dull and contrived but it was somewhat better than what happened the year before with Malcolm and Dru getting passionate while Olivia was on her deathbed. At least that story ended fairly quickly for being pretty inappropriate.

LOL I remember that! Dru was often being temp-replaced by Kent Masters King during that storyline.

  8. The backstage war between Ed Scott and Alden cost us Alex Donnelley(!!), Christopher Douglas, almost MTS, and eventually Ed Scott himself.

Can you please fill me in on this? I've always been curious about what happened there. Why would AD be a casualty in a power struggle between a long-time EP and a long-time writer? I was so shocked about this controversy back then because I floved Scott and I really liked Alden as well. But their power struggle was the beginning of the end for Y&R.

What makes the whole thing even more mind-boggling is that Alden and Scott have now worked together again at B&B for years. But I guess Brad calls the shots there, so they don't need to struggle for power LOL

2001 was good with Tricia's descent and the Nick&Sharon drama but had some mixed things like Paul and Isabella being boring and taking over the show

You must be forgetting ALEX the female lawyer who stole the Winters' heart. I swear her scenes would last forever.

  9. Wow I never thought I'd see those scenes ever again! I'm so happy!

I especially remember that a face sketch was involved. Reva stormed in on Brent in the lab, and then would draw a sketch of his face for the police. The drawing would change day in and day out according to the actor playing Brent.

I seem to remember the original Brent was not doing well around that time. Something about the double role taking a toll on his psyche. Did he ever give any interview about this?

  10. I mean, some of the crap they have Rick say...and I swear Herschel's made the same speech 8 different ways since he first showed up.

LOL I know! I fast forward every time Hershel opens his wise old mouth.

I hate that Maggie just rolled over and accepted Rick's decision.

I agree. I think / hope she was just pretending to go along with Rick's plan. Carol could have saved Glenn.

And I'll never understand why they don't kill EVERY zombie they see.

Tell me about it! As if a lone walker wouldn't be a danger. That's too silly.

  11. I like this show because it's action packed but I think the writing has always sucked. This year has been better, but still. Take the Governor's comeback scene. There was no build-up to that. Okay they've been referencing to him for weeks, but... It was like 'Hell broke loose in that prison!', and then 'Oh BTW, the Governor's is out there looking in with his one eye'. Whatever.

And don't get me started on the Governor. Such a cartoonish villain. All of a sudden we find out he's lived in a tent, protecting himself with fire. Yeah right. And zombies won't hurt him. Nor will our people notice him. I am not happy at all with the comeback of this mustache-twirling villain LOL

What the show is also lacking IMHO is some deep meaning, some recurring themes. I think zombies have always meant something in movies (ie immigrants, alienation etc). This time they're just there and no one is ever wondering why, how, when they'll disappear.

Plus, if I were one of the people in the prison, I would have taken shifts to kill all the zombies out the fence. I know it could be exhausting but really. What else have they got to do? They let these walkers cluster and bring down the fence, whereas they could have easily killed them one by one. I mean Rick and Carl took them down with two rifles for Christ's sake.

Finally, I fully expect Carol to cross paths with the Governor and work from within to bring him down, which will lead to her redeeming demise.

Sorry for the rant. I had to take it off my chest biggrin.png

  12. Haven't watched Y&R in awhile but I just remembered an actor named Russell Lawrence temporarily replaced the first actor who played Matt Clark. He was fired and the role was recast. I think with Rick Hearst. This was back in mid to late 2000, I think. Does anyone have any Y&R episodes or clips from then?

You're right! I totally forgot all about Russel Lawrence. I wonder if it was a case of hiring an actor temporarily to wait for the main actor (Rick Herbst) to be available and take over the role. Or maybe they were testing the waters with the Carter Mills character? Anyway I should have some footage of him in the VHS's I stashed at my parent's house...

  13. I get where Antoyne is coming from, but count me in as someone who loves Michonne. In a show where almost every characer is extra-bland and forgettable (Glenn and Meg anyone?) there's just something about Michonne that screams trustworthy-resourceful-badass. Gotta love her.
