Stillwater, OK (January 22, 2008) -- After a two month hiatus from SONBC, a cancellation scare and what was believed to be a network swap, the 2007 SONBC Nominated "The Guiding Light" returns just in time for sweeps!

HOT STORY of the WEEKAfter a two-and-half month hiatus "LIGHT" prepares to return to the SONBC lineup in time for sweeps and a thrilling new year! Below executive producer/head writer Josh Hawkins talks about sweeps, casting news and one return that is to die for!

With twelve action packed episode for February sweeps, Hawkins promises that it just a tip of the iceberg of what is to come in the coming months. "The families of Springfield are being ripped down to their very core," Hawkins says, "they have to reach rock bottom before they can come out on top and there lies the story."

"LIGHT" returns to the SONBC lineup on Friday, February 1 with a special "Springfield Journal Update."

STILLWATER, OK - The Guiding Light fan-fic, "THE LIGHT" has finally rounded out the stellar cast with a shocking round of hirings and firings.

"I had three characters that I wanted to bring back." Says Executive Producer, Tyler Miller, "Two of these characters will propel a new and exicting story for a core Springfield family, while the other is a short term player."

Colleen Dion (ex-Felicia, B& joins the cast in a yet unnamed role. "Dedicated "GL" fans will recall Dion's original stint on the show as Ramona in late 2003. However, since 'The Light' fan-fic begins in February 2003 so she never aired on our series. "Dion's character will be a huge turning point in a key storyline and she will not be playing Ramona." Assures Miller.

A stunning recast recently shocked the cast and crew...

During the first three episodes Nancy St.Alban will take the character of Michelle out of Springfield, paving the way for Christie Clark (Carrie, DAYS) to assume the contract role. "We originally brought Christie into read for another role during the original casting of the fan-fic, but she just didnt' fit what we were looking for and the decision was made to take the "Michelle" character into a completely different direction." Shares Miller.

In addition to the casting above, two high profile actors are set to join the lineup. Multiple Emmy nominated and two time winner, Heather Tom (Kelly, OLTL) and co-star Dan Gauither (Kevin, OLTL) are set to join 'TL' cast after leaving their current home at "One Life to Live."

"The availabilty of these three actors were amazing for my show and future storylines." Shares Miller. Who goes on to reveal that Tom will be portraying the role of Lucy Cooper Spaulding, daughter of Buzz and wife of young Spaulding heir, Alan-Micheal, which is the character Gauither will be playing.

"Lucy and Alan-Michael were both favorites of mine and I think the current Guiding Light regime have ruined the character of A-M by pairing him with former step daughter, Marina. He is simply a new character with an old familiar name." Shares Miller. "Interweaving Lucy and A-M into my Springfield canvas was simple." Tom first appears in mid-November. Gauither however, will be appearing much later, in February 2007.

In final casting news, David Andrew MacDonald has been given his walking papers in order for the new hirings to come into play. "Edmund's story has been played out for a very long time and we will not be telling a Cassie and Edmund storyline. After Richard died, there was no purpose for Edmund any longer." Shares Miller. MacDonald's last airdate is mid-October.

Finally, "The Light" premieres Monday, September 04, 2006 and will air on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, here exclusivly on The Soap Opera Network Blogs in narrative/recap format.

<HR> Tulsa, OK (September 20, 2007) -- As the SONBC blog "The Guiding Light" progresses forward to the Fall Relaunch (10/15) comes news that a spinoff from the soap has been green-lighted for production.

"I had an the idea earlier this year about one of our young heroines going into the world of college," explains the scribe. Which heroine it would be was seemed to prove the easiest part of all.

"Effective October 15th, the Emmy nominated Stephanie Gatschet (Tammy) will no longer be a cast member of the soap," confirms Hawkins. Gatschet will instead be seen on the new soap-within-a-soap, "Capitol Diaries."

"Because of Tammy's connections or in this case lack of she made the perfect candidate." Hawkins stated and now is proud to introduce to the fans of "LIGHT" a whole new series that will air weekly beginning in late October.

    Introducing...
The five ensemble cast will see Tammy Winslow (Gatschet) as she struggles with life after Springfield and high school. A freshman at George Washington University Tammy will be working towards a degree in Journalism with a Political focus. Upon her arrival she meets roommate Ashlee Hughbanks (Caitlyn Van Zandt) who will soon become a lifelong friend for Tammy.

"I am a fan of Caitlyn from her work on "GL" so casting her was so easy. Plus it gives us the polar opposite of Gatschet's Tammy and I love the contrast," explains Hawkins.

Tammy will first come in contact with Coop Bradshaw (John Driscoll) at a party in the District. However, it will be a while before Tammy makes the connection between the Cooper family in Springfield and her new love interest. Coop's roommate Taber will find himself the objection of virgin Ashlee's desires as their story continues.

Rounding out the cast is Professor Evan Carter (Emmy award winner Eric McCormick) as a Journalist-turned-professor who also serves as Tammy's councelor. "There is something different about Evan and it will be awhile before we really see a story blossom for him, but it will be there," confirms Hawkins.

"Diaries" is the continuing story of one of "LIGHT'S" most beloved young heroines and her interaction with Springfield will be both seen and heard. Both soaps will happen in the same reality look for Cassie, the Springfield University crowd and the Cooper clan to pop in throughout the series.

Currently "Diaries" is slated to run six months. Catch a peek of the brand new opening set to the beautiful theme of the multiple Emmy award winning drama, "The West Wing."

    - Alexandra waylays Olivia in her attempt to get in touch with Phillip to tell him that she (Olivia) is pregnant and wants to see him immediately.

    - Alexandra sees Phillip before Olivia does and tells her nephew that Olivia is pregnant and she’ll try and make him believe he is the father and not Alan. Alex makes a good case and Phillip is dubious of Olivia, pleasing Alexandra.

    - Olivia tells Sam, who is visiting; her reasons for making Phillip believe that he is the baby’s father. Sam however tells her she is just rationalizing hoping to get what she wants in the end.

    - Later in the evening, Olivia is wheeled into Cedars, complaining of cramps in her stomach. However, she doesn’t know until later that Phillip is there visiting Rick. After Rick tells her that the baby is okay, she and Phillip come face to face for the first time.

    BREAKING NEWS:
    Actress Opts to Leave Role

    <HR>

Stillwater, OK (November 5, 2007) -- As "The Guiding Light" prepares for a relaunch this week comes news that veteran actress Laura Wright has opted not to renew her contract with the series.

Negotiations between executives and Wright began early this summer as her contract expired at the end of August. Wright joined "GL" as stripper Cassie Layne in August of 1997.

"It's hard to even consider Laura not apart of this series, however things happen and the show must continue," says executive producer Josh Hawkins.

For a better part of the last year, Wright has been pulling double duty at "TGL" and "Port Charles" where she portrays Carly Corinthos. "It's understandable that Laura would want to continue where she is prominently featured in a leading capacity," Hawkins reasoned.

With negotiations on-going for the last two months, executives actively auditioned and sought out a replacement for the character. "We knew this would was a possiblity and we're making adjustments accordingly," Hawkins continued.

Those actresses included, Cynthia Preston (ex-Faith, GH), Jensen Buchanan (ex-Vicky, AW), Cady McClain (Rosanna, ATWT; ex-Dixie, AMC) and Nicole Forrester.

The actresses tested opposite Robert Newman (Josh) and Kim Zimmer (Reva) and are slated to test with one other actor before a final casting decision is made.

Stay tuned for all the details.

    SUMMER UPDATE

    <HR>

Tulsa, OK – (August 4, 2007) - With the SONBC blog "The Guiding Light" slated to return to production on August 6th, executive producer and co-head writer Josh Hawkins sat down to open up about storyline changes, a shift in episode production, a return of a daytime veteran actress, a recast and one storyline that will rock Springfield!

    <HR>

    Late Summer/Early Fall Storylines

SONBC: Welcome! This is the first interview you've done in a long while.
Hawkins: I know! We've all been missing out, huh?

SONBC: I think we have. Let's talk about the hiatus, was it planned?
Hawkins: No. We had behind-the-scenes production issues which are addressed below, as well as preparing new episodes and getting some storylines under control.

SONBC: Of course, like having your teens attend prom in "Springfield May" when it reality it was July.
Hawkins: Exactly what I mean! I saw a way to wrap up the stories into a nice little package, deliver it and move foward to present day, eight weeks after the fact.

SONBC: Now there are some stories that might not work for, like Michelle's baby, Gus' paternity resolution and Shayne's betrayal, how will that work?
Hawkins: (Gasps!) You doubt my writing. (Laughs) Kidding, things will be explained in Episode 081 at the beginning. I've added "Since You Been Gone" paragraph to fill in the blanks from some stories, other stories are being written into the eight week gap. Which ones I won't say.

SONBC: You hold your cards close to your chest don't you?
Hawkins: I just think that the stories Dan and I have written are top notch, classic "The Guiding Light" and I don't want to spoil everything. I need to feed you some crumbs so that you'll come to the dinner table to eat!

SONBC: Okay, that's fair! What can we expect to see on Monday?
Hawkins: Well because we're dealing with Crystal Chappell leaving for about a week (her last airdate on "TGL" is August 8th) so that she can return to "AS DAYS GO BY" where she'll be representing Dr. Carly Manning, our first order of business is the Phillip and Beth divorce.

SONBC: Rumor had it at one point that it would appear Olivia had been murdered, any truth to that?
Hawkins: That was one of the stories that was suggested, however it is not how Olivia will be leaving Springfield. (See below for additional information.) We're dealing with Michelle and her yet unnamed daughter's storyline, the stories are moving a little more quickly.

SONBC: That can be a good thing, just not to quick...
Hawkins: Preaching to the choir here. When I penned the original web-series "All Or Nothing" I could stretch a story like no other, but not here. I have a large cast to play with and a lot of stories to tell with them.

SONBC: You have three very big stories coming up, care to share what they are?
Hawkins: I do! We're tackling a medical issue that has never been done to my knowledge in daytime: testicular cancer. It will impact one of the young leading men on the blog and we're very excited to tell this story. There have been so many blotched medical stories in daytime, we hope that this is not one of them.

SONBC: So you've done your research?
Hawkins: Every step of the way! Also make sure to RSVP now for August 17th, Ross and Blake will be married and two other stories reach their climatic high points also, the Lewis family will be changed forever!

SONBC: Some great stuff is coming it sounds like. One last question, when will Ed open Roger's letter?
Hawkins: August 17th! I am looking forward to this episode more than anyone knows! Episode 086 is going to feature your favorite "LIGHT" characters, we invite you to join us...

    REVOLVING DOOR: CASTING NEWS

    <HR>

    RECAST ALERT

In a shocking casting move, <b>Alexa Havins</b> is OUT as Marah Lewis and replaced by former “World Turns” darling <b>Jennifer Ferrin.</b> Get the inside story…

“A change was needed,” confirms Hawkins about the exit. Havins who beat out Martha Madison and Bree Williamson for the coveted role last summer prior to the blog’s debut last aired on July 4 in Episode 075.

“Alexa’s departure is completely storyline related,” Hawkins explained. “When she began she was our Marah, but we feel the part has outgrown what Alexa had to offer.”

“Marah is becoming a woman, we’re progressed forward with her relationship with Danny Santos and the relationship between Marah and her mother must be repaired. We felt that a more mature looking Marah would help in that vision,” said Hawkins.

Therefore, after an exhausting search that brought back Williamson and Madison as well as other younger leading women with daytime credits, including Lauren Woodland and Jennifer Finnigan, executives decided upon Ferrin.

“It came down to Madison and Ferrin,” Hawkins recounted. “In the end it was Ferrin who won us over.”
Ferrin who is a two-time Emmy nominated actress for her role as Jennifer Munson-Donovan on “ATWT” will debut on August 6 in Episode 081 as a brunette. “It was important for to maintain her brunette hair color and show some red.” Hawkins laughs, “She is after all Josh’s daughter.”

So how will Ferrin’s arrival affect the TGL/ATWT crossovers? “We maintain that what is happening with ATWT on-air at the moment is what is happening in the blog, Jennifer is dead.”

Ferrin has signed an exclusive contract with the blog.

    <HR>

    COMING IN

    "Another World" Legal Eagle Return

<b>Stephen Schnetzer</b> who created the role of Cass Winthrop on the now defunct “Another World” will step back into the lawyer’s shoes on “The Guiding Light.” Schnetzer who began playing Cass in July 1982 and continued until the show was canceled by NBC in June 1999. “We wanted to continue the AW/GL connection that has been established many years ago,” executiver producer of the SONBC blog Josh Hawkins stated. “Soaps are about family and we’re very pleased to continue to use the Proctor & Gamble connections,” he concluded.

Cass arrives on August 6 (Episode 081) to represent Beth Raines-Spaulding [beth Chamberlain] in her divorce hearing against estranged husband Phillip [Grant Aleksander.] Schnetzer is slated to make two more appearances later this fall in a separate storyline. “Originally it was supposed to Jessica Griffin [Tamara Tunie] from “As the World Turns” crossing over but things did not pan out,” explains Hawkins.

    <b>Olivia’s Sister Returns</b>

In what was thought to be a role meant for <b>Lisa Peluso</b> insiders are reporting that negoations with the former “Another World/As the World Turns” starlet have fallen through. Instead <b>Judith Blazer</b> who appeared in 1999 as Marissa Randall will return. “Marissa’s arrival will help bring Olivia [Crystal Chappell] back to the canvas after her run on "AS DAYS GO BY.” Hawkins also went on to say, “We’re working towards bringing Reva’s son Jonathan onto the canvas and Marissa will be an important part of that story.” Look for Blazer to return as Marissa on August 22.

    <b>Negotiation Time</b>

The blog is the final stages of negotiation with <b>Jay Hammer</b> who played the role of Fletcher from 1984-1998; 1999. “We have the abilitiy to bring back characters with rich history that have made The Guiding Light what it is today,” co-head writer Dan Gobble said. Rumors are circling that executives what Hammer back for a handful of episodes during Ben’s upcoming storyline.

In addition, to Hammer’s hopeful return behind-the-scenes sources are reporting that once Roger’s letter to Ed is read the studio will be on lockdown! Producers are keeping mum about what is in the content of the letter, but report it’s classic Roger! “Someone is returning!” An unnamed source claims, “And the only people who know who it is, is the co-head writers.”

    OVER & OUT

<b>Melina Kanakaredes</b> wraps up her return as Eleni Cooper on August 20.

<b>Alexa Havins</b> wrapped up her year long-plus role as Marah Lewis on July 4, see above article for more information.

Blake glanced the clock on the wall, “Quarter past nine. Is this a joke?”

“Is what a joke Blake?” Holly appeared from the hallway, “What is the matter with you?”

“The florist was supposed to bring samples be at nine o’clock and clearly she’s not here. You know I am beginning to think this wedding is doomed!”

Holly takes the opportunity to calm Blake’s nerves with a cup of coffee and small talk at the dining room table. At 9:30, the florist arrives and shows the samples to them both.

“Okay, well Blake certainly appreciates all of your help,” Holly showed her out the door as Blake finished a telephone call in the kitchen. “Who was that?”

“The head mistress at the boy’s school in New Haven.”

“Oh,” Holly questioned. “Is everything all right?”

Blake shook her head, “Ross called yesterday to arrange for them to come home for the wedding and apparently that won’t be possible.”

    “What? Why?”

“She feels that pulling the twins out of class so early in the semester could hinder their development…or some mumbo-jumbo…” Blake sighed, “I stopped listening to the old bat after she said no.”

“I’m sorry, I know that you wanted the boys here but you know the head mistress is probably right.”

“I know,” Blake sat down at the kitchen table. “I envisioned this picture perfect wedding with roses and my children, Ross looking dashingly handsome in his tuxedo and you setting there with a smile on your face and Ed walking me down the isle…and slowly but surely those dreams are fading away.”

“Stop it!” Holly demanded, “You make it sound like you’re getting married in the back room of a bar with no one there to witness the event.” They laughed. “You and Ross are going to have the biggest, most lavishly beautiful wedding this town has ever seen, even if you’re boys aren’t there.”

“I’m just so paranoid about everything,” Blake revealed. “I love Ross so much and we have to get it right this time, I just wish I didn’t have the wedding and the Spaulding…” she sighed, “I wish some times Daddy had never left me those damn shares.”

“Well, he did and that’s something that you’re going to have to deal with. Something that you and Ross will have to deal with,” Holly said reaching for her purse. “Come on we have your final gown fitting and I won’t let you be late for that.”

The heat beat down on Marina, Shayne and Lizzie as they made their way across the Springfield University campus. They had just spent the last two and half hours finalizing their fall schedules and talking with their advisors.

“Marina I wish you would reconsider about living on campus,” Lizzie fanned herself with her hand. “We could live together in the suite above Shayne’s, walk to class together and have late night talks just like we did this summer.”

“Even if I wanted to live on campus you already have your roommate assignments…”

“I’m a Spaulding! Granddad would have to make like one phone call and we would be suite mates.”

“Lizzie you know that I would love to live on campus and share a suite with you, but…well my parents just doesn’t have the money for that. Plus, the fact that I live less than ten minutes from campus doesn’t help so it’s just out of the question.” Marina explained as she glanced to Shayne and rolled her eyes.

Shayne wrapped his arm around Lizzie, “Don’t worry Liz the three of us are going to be having late night cram sessions and weekend sleepovers, nothing is going to change.”

“This is the first day of the rest our lives…is that what you’re about to say Shayne?” Marina laughed, “I’ll assume that it was…I have to go meet Kristen Jones at the bookstore, we have Biology together…”

Shayne watched as Marina headed off in one direction and then Lizzie in the opposite direction. Shayne took out his cell phone and dialed Derek’s number with no answer. He leaves a message and then turns to head to the bookstore to find Marina.

“Oh sorry!” Shayne apologized as he collided with someone. “Austin,” he said in an uncomfortable tone. “I didn’t see you there. This heat must have fried my brain.”

“Apparently,” Austin replied. “How was your summer?” He questioned as he looked around the campus in an attempt to escape the awkward situation.

“It’s was okay,” Shayne replied, “Did you have a good summer?”

“Yeah,” Austin said. “Well anyway…I better get going.”

“Oh yeah, sure,” Shayne replied as his mind flashed back to the after graduation party at the lighthouse. “I’ll see you around campus.”

He watched him leave and then Lizzie quickly returned. Lizzie asked what Austin Hollingsworth had to say and Shayne report not much. The two of them head towards the bookstore to find Marina and check out Shayne’s suite.

Hoping to avoid her lackluster prom date, Lizzie hangs back until Austin has left, once he has she approaches Shayne and questions what that was about. Shayne tells her he really doesn’t know, he thought that he and Austin were okay friends but ever since graduation things have been a different…Lizzie says that her dorm was closed and she’s hungry…she suggests a quick bite of food with Marina and then check out Shayne’s dorm!

Hope watches from the Bauer kitchen as Derek takes the phone call on the patio. When Ed arrives they both note how he grew up far to fast, Ed says it seems like yesterday that Mike was bragging to him about another grandson. Hope says they do grow up far to quickly, she notes that it’s been years since Alan-Michael has seen Derek and that she can only hope that things go smoothly.

“What does Derek’s father think of the two of you making Springfield home now?” Ed asked as Derek started playing catch with Robbie outside.

“Trevor doesn’t have a say in my life any longer,” Hope answered. “And as for our son, Derek won’t let him have a say.”

“I can’t imagine that makes for a positive relationship.”

Hope shook her head, “No it doesn’t. But, Derek’s not to blame for that, Trevor is.” She turned her head and sighed heavily, “I’m sorry…I shouldn’t have said anything. You have enough on your mind with Rick, the baby and Holly…I’m gonna…”

Ed’s hand touched her arm, “You’re family and I made a promise to my brother that I would look after you when he left. Hope, if something is bothering you please tell me what it is.”

“There’s a reason why Derek and his father have issues,” Hope began.

“Of course,” Ed replied. “What does that have to do with anything?”

“Uncle Ed,” Hope spoke softly, “you promise not to say anything, especially to Alan-Michael or Daddy?”

    “I do. What’s wrong Hope?”

She shook her head, “Nothing’s wrong…well not for me anyway. Two years ago, Derek was living with Trevor, right after Daddy had his heart attack.”

    “I remember.”

“Well, Derek came out to his father shortly before his senior year of high school.” Hope paused, “Derek’s gay Uncle Ed and I have no problem with that, none what-so-ever. He’s my son and I love him no matter what.”

“But I assume Trevor had a problem with it?”

Hope shook her head yes. “Derek didn’t want to create any additional stress for me so he convinced Trevor to let him study abroad. He was worried I would rejection him just like his father did. When I found out he was in Springfield, I couldn’t not come. “

“I…I don’t know what to say Hope,” Ed admitted.

“Say you’ll keep this to yourself, please. Just knowing that you know…that someone else knows is a relief.” Ed shook his head. “I have a daunting task ahead of me,” Hope realized. “I have to integrate my sons into one another’s lives and work to repair Derek’s relationship with his father.”

“You have my full support, so does Derek. The both of you are family and nothing will ever change that,” Ed assured her. “But, I don’t want you to feel like it’s your job or duty to repair Trevor’s relationship with his son. He caused the trouble, let him fix it Hope.”

Ben sat uncomfortably in a gray cloth chair gazing out a window at the Chicago skyline. He had been sitting in the same chair, in the same office for what seemed like hours when in reality it had only been 30 minutes.

Ben heard the door open behind him and he said nothing as a man dressed in suit and tie took a seat behind the desk, blocking the skyline view. “I apologize for your wait,” he said.

“It’s fine,” Ben answered solemnly. “Is that them.” He pointed at a file on the desk.

“Is there anyone waiting for you in the waiting room? Would you like for them to come join us?”

Ben shook his head, “No. I came alone.”

“I see,” he opened the folder. “Ben, you should really tell someone what’s going on.”

“I will, just as soon as I figure out what is going on.”

The doctor adjusted his reading glasses, “Okay, upfront I will say your parents need to be told as soon as possible. We’re going to need a complete medical history…” the doctor, noticed a look on Ben’s face. “Will that be a problem Mr. Reade?”

“It’s complicated. My mother died several years ago and I don’t have contact with my biological father. Another man adopted men when I was young,” Ben explained.

“It’s time that you find out a lot more about him, Ben. And I wish that you hadn’t waited two and half months to come see me,” he laid his glasses on the desk. “Ben the lump you found is cancerous,” the doctor revealed. “You have stage one testicular cancer.”

Ben sat in shock, he didn’t move and listened for a few moments as the doctor explained that this was a cancer in men between 15-40 and luckily for him was one of the most curable cancers. He concluded with advice to call both his biological and adoptive father to inform them as to what was going on.

Outside the doctor’s office Ben shoved his hands into his pockets and fought back tears of fear! “Get a hold of yourself…” he told himself as he scrolled in his cell phone for a number.

In Springfield, Holly and Blake where finishing up at the boutique, “Just a second,” she whispered to Blake, “Hello.”
“Holly?” He questioned. “It’s Ben can we have dinner tomorrow night?”

“Well sure,” Holly answered. “Ben is something the matter?”

“No, there’s just something I need talk to you about,” he told her.

Lillian Raines held in her hand a brush that she had just used hours earlier to comb Lizzie’s hair. “I can’t believe that your daughter is at her senior prom right now,” Lillian smiled. “Are you about ready to get in bed?” She turned the covers down and fluffed a pillow. “Ed gave you some sleeping pills you should take one. I know I said you should rest but sleep will be better.”

Beth stood in the walk-in closet and rub her stomach it ached somewhat but nothing drastic. “Are you sure that you won’t reconsider?”

“What staying the night?” Lillian questioned as she sat the bottle of pills next to an unopened letter on Beth’s dresser. “No, but thank you for the offer,” she picked up the envelope and looked it over. “Honey what is this letter?”

Appearing from the closet and ignoring the question, “Phillip said that he wanted to talk to me about something tonight and I just think that he may have found us a new house is all.” She waved her hand at Lillian, “This might be your last opportunity to stay in the Spaulding mansion for awhile.”

“I’ll take my chances,” Lilian mumbled as she studied the envelope. “This is from Cedars honey. It was just sitting here on your dresser.”

“Is there a name on it?” Beth finally asked.

“Just Spaulding is all.” She replied, “Should I open it? Do you care Beth?”

“No, not at all,” Beth replied as Lilian slid her finger under the flap and unfolded the letter inside. She quickly read it and recognized what it was and her breath muttered, “Oh Beth.”

“What was it? More notes from Ed? Let me guess, plenty of rest, fluids and no driving for what a week, two weeks?” Beth laughed, “Momma?”

“This wasn’t for you. Silly us, you’re not the only Spaulding in this house, it was for, um…Olivia.”

“Olivia, really? You’re lying Momma and I know when you’re lying, just like you know when I am, give me the paper.”

“I’m not lying Beth it wasn’t for you,” Lillian said sternly.

Beth snatched the paper from Lillian’s tight grip and read the information for herself. Her lips trembled as she read the words. “Is this legitimate?” She finally questioned. “Momma you would know is this a fake or is it real?”

“It looks authentic yes, but that doesn’t mean it is Beth. There could be a mistake or something, errors do happen.”

“And I understand that, but Phillip requested this paternity test not Olivia, not Alan, Phillip. My husband has reason to believe that he’s the father of her baby and…” the realization hit her suddenly, “go home Momma.”

    “Beth…”

“Don’t patronize me, don’t you dare.” With tears in her eyes, she looked at Lillian, “Go home and leave that to my husband.”

“Leave what to me?” Phillip questioned from the doorway. “What’s going on?”

“Funny I was just about to ask you the same damn thing?” Beth announced!

“Okay.” Phillip responded, “Lillian how are you tonight?”

    <HR>

    From the day we met
    You made me forget
    All my fears
You knew just what to say
    And you kissed away
    All my tears
I knew this time I had finally found
Someone to build my life around
Be a lover and a friend
After all my heart had put me through
I knew that it was safe with you
What we had would never end...
    Wrong Again.

    <HR>

Lillian’s eyes crossed to Beth who was still standing in shock, “Up until about two minutes ago I was one of the happiest women in the world, certainly the happiest woman in Springfield. Beth I’m going downstairs…”

With her back to them both, she spoke calmly, in a reserved and respected manner. “Do you know how many times I have thought to myself, ‘Beth you are so lucky, Phillip is such a good man. Trustworthy and depenable…faithful and honest’ I remind myself every morning, every night how blessed I am to have found you again, how lucky I am to be loved by such a man,” she spun around with the recognizable letter in hand. "But right now, right here it seems like I was wrong."

“Lillian will you excuse us please.” Phillip opened the door, “Beth and I have some things to discuss.”

Lillian looked at Beth who nodded, “I’ll be fine.”

As Phillip turned back to face Beth he met the palm of her hand against the side of his face, “You son-of-a-bitch!” She screamed out in anger. “How long, how long have you known that she was having your baby?”

“Beth…” Phillip spoke in a condescending voice.

“Stop right there, not another word,” she laughed, “I told Momma that you would do that. Speak to me like you talk to Lizzie or the staff around this…place.” The words left a bitter taste in her mouth and she choked back her tears. “It’s amazing…”

    “What?” Phillip questioned.

“Take your pick. It’s amazing how you’ve learned to lie with such ease and show no remorse for it. It’s amazing, how much you are like Alan in so many ways yet you think you're so much better than he is. It is amazing that we, that you and I are here again, we’ve only just begun and we’re already finished.”

“I didn’t know that Hannah was mine until the night she was born,” Phillip explained.

“And do you think that makes this better? I don’t give a damn about when you found out, I could care less. What I do care about is what you told me when we got married in Las Vegas,” she shot him a cold look. “You lied to me and then not a hour later you took vows, you made me promises that you could never keep. I asked you Phillip to tell me everything, we were supposed to begin this marriage without any baggage, no secrets. I opened my heart up to you again and this, this is how you repay me? This is how you show your love?” She screamed at the top of her lungs. “So you see I don’t care when you found out about Hannah, because you knew all along. You knew that you and Olivia had slept together, you’re not an idiot so let’s not pretend that you are.” Beth paused and looked up at him. “You love her don’t you?” She asked the question he had been avoiding for months, “We both know the answer to that question so don’t even bother dignifying it with an answer.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Phillip told her. “I wish I could say something that would make sense but I can’t.”

“Why did you marry me again?” Beth questioned directly. “You could have…” she stumbled over her own words and finally managed, “why?”

“Honestly?” Phillip knew he was about to break her heart, “I thought I had lost Olivia for good. I thought that she and Alan were going to make a life together with the baby and that she would forget about what we shared. When you said marry me I thought to myself if I can’t Olivia then…”

“Then what? You would settle for poor, fragile Beth!” She reached up and slapped him across the face for a second time, “I am a lot of things Phillip Granville, but second best to Olivia Spencer-Spaulding is not one of them, not now and not ever again!”

“That is not what I meant,” he attempted to backtrack. “I love you.”

“You love rescuing me? You love the fact that I have spent my entire adult life loving you in some form or another. No matter where I was or who I was with, Edmund or Jim or Bill you knew just like I knew that there was only one man for me, there was only one Phillip.” She shook her head and sighed, “I’ve made so many mistakes, but I think this has to be the biggest one of my life. And the ironic thing about it is that I never saw it coming, I never imagined this of all things would happen. You know how much I hate that woman, how much Alexandra despises her and your father…” she stopped.

“What about my father?” Phillip asked. “Beth…”

“Has no idea, does he? Alan is down there in that study at this very moment playing house with a child he thinks is his own. When were you going to tell him?”

“Olivia is going to tell him in her own time. Beth please don’t do this, I’m asking you…”

“And for some reason you think you are in a position to ask for favors? You’re keeping this from Alan because you love Olivia. He has a right to know the truth. I won’t play this game, I’m going to tell your father the truth.” Beth declared as she stormed down the hallway of the Spaulding mansion!

    <HR>

    Everybody swore
    They'd seen this before
    We'd be fine
    And you'd come to see
    That you still love me
    In good time
And they said there's nothing you can do
It's something that he's going through
It happens to a lot of men
And I told myself that they were right
That you'd wake up and see the light
And I just had to wait till then
    Wrong again...

    <HR>

Alan sat on the sofa in the study of the mansion, “I still wish you would have considered Penelope.”

“And I told you long ago there was no way I was naming my child Penelope.” Olivia replied as she folded Hannah’s blanket, “Is she sleeping?”

Alan smiled warmly and kissed her forehead, “Like an angel.” Olivia walked across the room and took the baby in her arms and Alan quickly stole a kiss from her, “I’m glad that you’re home, the both of you.”

“Well, the both of us are glad to be home.” Olivia replied, “Alan there was something that I was going to talk to you about, right after I put Hannah to bed…”

“No time like the present!” Beth burst through the doors with the DNA tests in hand. “Good the both of you are here!”

“Beth what is all this about?” Alan got up from the sofa to check on the baby in Olivia’s arms, “Hannah just went to sleep you don’t want to wake her up do you?”

“Of course not.” Beth looked over her shoulder at Lillian who had followed her down the stairs, “Momma would you take Hannah and put her in her crib upstairs.”

“Thank you, but that won’t be necessary Lillian.” Olivia stopped her, “Beth I don’t know what you’re rambling on about so loudly but I’ll put me baby to bed. Excuse me.”

Beth stepped in front of Olivia stopping her in her tracks. “Give her to my mother right now.” She said in a hushed whisper, “I know everything your two-timing, gold digging bitch.” Olivia glanced to Phillip and then handed the baby to Lillian.

“Is anyone going to tell me what the hell is going on here?” Alan roared, “Beth is there a problem between you and Olivia?”

“Something like that,” Beth flashes Olivia the envelope. “Something has happened Alan, something that I think you have a right to know about.”

“What are you doing?” Olivia questioned. “Why are you doing this, you have no idea what you are about to do Beth…”

“Olivia, I swear to God in heaven if you don’t shut up I will backhand clear across this room. And if you don’t believe me ask Phillip.” Beth warned!

“Phillip?” Alan raised his eyebrows. “Does this have to do with the book that Olivia had published because I thought we resolved that issue awhile ago.”

“It doesn’t have anything to do with the book, but it’s nothing I can’t control.” Phillip attempted to get a grip on the situation.

“I’m not backing down from this.” Beth announced, “Do you think I won’t tell him what I know? Why I ever thought that marrying you again was in my best interests I will never know, yet another life alternating mistake. “

“You’ve made plenty.” Olivia smirked. “Send me across the room and see what happens.” She warned.

Beth shook her head, “I’m so done.”

“What is it you’re done with Beth?” Alan questioned.

“This…” she gestured around the room, “I’m through playing games with this damn family.”

Alan flashed her a scornful glare, “Tread lightly Beth. This damn family has provided for you very well if I recall and still is.”

She laughed aloud and thought for a moment, “You…you’re going to lecture me? Don’t even try Alan because Phillip has already tried and failed miserably. I think it’s time that you saw what I did tonight.” She handed him the envelope and announced, “That little girl you were kissing tonight, she’s not your daughter Alan, she doesn’t even have a drop of Spaulding blood in her. Congratulations, you have another granddaughter!”

Alan read the paper closely, “It’s a fake, someone is trying to extort money or something from us. I cannot believe you take that for the truth Beth!”

“It is.” Phillip softly spoke from the back of the room, “She’s my daughter, not yours.”

The room fell silent as Alan rose from the sofa and walked across to the mantle. “He’s known since she was born.” Beth declared, “But it doesn’t end there…”

“Will you shut up?” Olivia seethed with anger. “I think you’ve done enough as it is.”

“I’ve done enough? This is not even remotely my fault, you married Alan, you fell in love with Phillip, you kept the truth from all of us. This is your fault, this is his fault.” She pointed at Phillip.

“ENOUGH!” Alan roared as he slung a picture of him and Phillip from years gone by across the room. “Betrayed by my own son and my wife!” He braced himself against the mantle as Lillian reentered the room.

“Alan, Alan…you need to calm down.” Lillian lectured, “If you’re not careful you’ll have another heart attack.”

“Please he doesn’t have a heart.” Olivia replied. “The only reason we’re here is because Alan replaced my birth control pills with placebos. He tricked us all…”

“That still doesn’t change the facts.” Phillip told her, “I love her and I have for a very long time.” The words stung Beth and Alan bolted across the room but Olivia stepped between him and Phillip.

“You’re going to fight his damn battles now?”

“He’s still your son and you’re parading around her acting like an innocent bystander.”

Alan shook his head, “Get out of my house.” He told Phillip. “You get the hell out of my house and don’t bother coming into Spaulding in the morning you no longer work there.” He looked at Olivia, “As for you…”

“What?” She fired back, “Going to kick me out too? Like a big man, the great and powerful Alan Spaulding…” she laughed and declared, “I’m not going anywhere!”

“Oh the hell you’re not.” Alan grabbed her shoulder and pulled her towards the door.

“Get your damn hands off of her!” Phillip yelled, as Olivia broke free from Alan’s grip.

“Both of you get out!” Alan ordered as he headed towards the door.

“Apparently you weren’t listening Alan, darling!” Olivia stopped him. “I’m serious, I’m not going anywhere. Not tonight, not in the morning, not until I get what I want.”

“We have a prenuptial agreement.” Alan explained, “Or where you to busy screwing my son that you forgot.”

“I didn’t forget. But at the end of the day honey there’s only one Mrs. Alan Spaulding and that’s me and if you think she’s going quietly in the night, then you have forgotten who you’re dealing with.”

“You have lost everything Olivia!” Alan told her, “You agreed to those conditions when we got married, now get out!”

“And apparently you’ve forgotten how to read Alan or well at least your lawyer’s. Did you not think I would read that pre-nup, front wards, backwards, inside and out? There’s a loophole and I found it honey.”

“Impossible.” Alan retorted, “That’s the standard pre-nup I’ve used for years.”

“Well apparently all the former Mrs. Spaulding’s didn’t take the time to read the fine print, I did. Both said parties must be in agreement that dissolution of their marriage is in their best interests.” She quoted, “And that’s word-per-word! I just don’t think that is in our best interests Alan, I think we can work it out.”

    “You’re crazy.”

“And you’re a fool so that makes us even.” Olivia told him, “So like I said I’m not going. Not until I get exactly what I want from you.” She headed out of the study and met Phillip. He agreed to take her suite at the Beacon and she instructed one of the servants to move everything out of the master suite she shared with Alan.

In the study where two broken souls, “Come on Beth let’s go home.” Lillian spoke, “Alan you’ll work through this you always manage to land on your feet.”

“You can stay Beth.” Alan told her, “There’s no reason for you to leave.”

“I meant what I said about being done with this family. I have no place in this house, in this family. I’m just one in a very long list of former Mrs. Spaulding’s and I’m fine with that.” She kissed his cheek, “Take care Alan.”

    <HR>

And it seemed to me the pain would last
My chance for happiness had passed
    Nothing waited 'round the bend
I was sure I'd never find someone
To heal the damage you had done
My poor heart would never mend
    Wrong again
    Wrong again

    <HR>

Lillian took Beth’s arm, “I need to get my things, clothes, jewelry stuff like that.” Beth explained as she and Lillian met Phillip on the staircase. “Momma why don’t you go and pack James and Lizzie some clothes, I’ll be right up.”

    “Is this what you wanted?”

“That’s rich coming from you because by your own admission Olivia is what you wanted, I just simply helped you get her.” Beth grabbed his arm. “I don’t think you will ever comprehend the hurt you have caused me tonight. You will never understand the depth to which I have loved you my entire life Phillip. I never imagined my love for you would ever end, but it has, our love, our life…” a single tear finally fell, “is over. As I walk away from you tonight know that you will regret the day you ever decided I was second best, I promise you you’ll regret ever crossing me.”

“Well isn’t this exciting?” Lizzie asked as Shayne took her hand. “Did you ever think that we would be Springfield High royalty?”

Shayne smiled at her. “Honestly? No!” He laughed. “So what happens now?”

The spotlight hit the center of the dance floor. “I think were supposed to share a dance.” She led him to the center of the room, all eyes rested on them. “Are you having a good time?”

“Yeah, of course I am.” He whispered into her ear. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“You just seem distant lately is all,” Lizzie answered. “These are supposed to be the best times of our lives and you just seem content, not upset but not unhappy.”

“You know I have a lot of stuff going on, graduation, my mom and Marah are still fighting with one…” he paused and looked at the girl in his arms, “can I tell you something?” He twirled Lizzie, she laughed as other couples, including Austin and Tammy joined them on the dance floor.

    “What’s on you mind baby?”

Shayne smiled and shook his head. “If someone would have told me that you and I would be here, like this, a year ago I would have laughed so hard.”

“Right!” Lizzie agreed. “It’s the power of friendship.”

“I’m going to tell you something that I have been dealing with for about the last year and half,” Shayne began as the music hit a high note. “What I’m going to tell you is very personal and not a whole lot of people know…” his mind suddenly raced back to the night when Derek arrived in Springfield, his mind filled with Alan-Michael’s venomous words but he pushed that aside.

“If you don’t tell me what’s on your mind this song is going to be over,” Lizzie told him. “Please know that you can trust me Shayne, please.”

    “I’m gay Lizzie.”

She stared up at him, tongue-tied. “Say something.” Shayne told her.

Lizzie shook her head. “You’re sure?” Her words stumbled, “That didn’t come out right, I’m sorry…this is kind of…”

    “Shocking?”

“No not at all…” she realized what she had just implied and backtracked. “Okay, that didn’t come out right either,” and she suddenly realized she had inserted her foot into her mouth once more! “You hate me?”

He shook his head, “No. I know this is a lot to take in on the dance floor of our prom but it’s something that you needed to know, something that I felt you should know.” The music ended as everyone applauded their king and queen one final time.

With her hand in his Shayne led Lizzie off the dance floor. “This doesn’t change anything between us, promise me that.”

“Nothing. I promise.” Lizzie kissed him on the cheek, “And you can trust that I’ll never say anything.”

    “About what?” Austin questioned.

“There you are!” Lizzie wrapped her arms around Austin’s waist, “About Shayne, he just learned how dance like two or something…” her eyes darted from her date to Shayne and then Tammy, “and by the way he was leading out there I had no idea.”

“Right…” Austin agreed. “Why don’t we got get some punch.”

Shayne and Tammy watched them walk away. “What was that all about?” She finally asked.

“Beats the hell out me.” Shayne winked, “Come on…I want to spin you across the dance floor.”

    <HR>

“Ava first thing in the morning I will need those figures.” Alan-Michael was working from his suite at The Beacon. “Messenger them over to me at Towers, I’ll be having breakfast with Charles Grant and my father.” He listened as she spoke, “Yes Phillip will be there as well.”

Lucy stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom. She was wearing hardly anything, red-laced lingerie that A-M had bought her before they left Europe. As she appeared in the doorway her husband ended his conversation with his secretary.

“Oh Mr. Spaulding,” Lucy softly whispered in a seductive manner as she made her way across the room. “You know there’s an old saying about all work and no play.”

Lucy ran her hands down A-M’s chest and kissed his neck, “You know watching Marina get ready for prom and then seeing how happy she was with Ben made me realize something.”

    “Oh?”

“Mm-hhmm. It made me realize how much I love you. And it made me miss how things where with us in Europe.” She loosened his tie, “You do remember how things where in Europe don’t you?”

“You’re certainly helping to job my memory.” He sighed heavily. “And if you could just hold that thought for another half-hour so that I can finish this paperwork that would be amazing.”

Lucy stopped what she was doing and questioned, “You want me to wait? Alan-Michael look at me, turn around and look at me!” She announced, “Do I look like I want to wait for you?”

    “Lucy…”

“You promised me that when we came back here, after you forced me to come back here, nonetheless that things would not change.”

“They haven’t.” He defended as she grabbed a robe.

“How would you know Alan-Michael? You spend every waking hour either at Spaulding Enterprises or on the phone with Ava talking about that damn Cedars project. And then when you finally do decide to come home, and I use that term loosely because take a look around you this is not a home…you’re going over numbers and figures and contracts.”

“You know that I take my work very seriously.”

“You’re work? Please let’s call your work what it really is and that is an attempt to prove yourself to Alan,” she screamed as she headed towards the bathroom.

    “Where are you going?”

“Harley’s,” Lucy announced. “Let me tell you something,” she stopped and spun around, “if you for one second think that I am going to take a back seat and let Spaulding Enterprises become your number one priority then darling your are horribly mistaken. Do you understand me?”

    “This is my career.”

“And I’m your wife, you know I never thought I would have to remind you of that, but clearly I do,” Lucy slammed the door leaving A-M alone with his work!

The clouds were hanging low and black as Amanda Spaulding-Thorpe placed one black high heel and then another onto the pavement in front of St. Luke’s church.

“Mrs. Thorpe.” She was greeted once inside, “Father Jamison, I’m so sorry that we weren’t able to meet yesterday. My sincere condolences on your loss.”

“Thank you, that’s very compassionate of you. I don’t think it is going to be something I hear that much of today.”

“Well…” he searched for the right words, “I’m sure there are many who join you in mourning.”

Amanda smiled, “No there’s not. You must not have known my beloved and vindictive husband Roger.” She paused, “Has anyone else arrived yet?”

“No you’re the first. Would you like me to take you to your seat?”

Amanda shook her head no, “I would like a few minutes alone however.”

Father Jamison opened the doors, she saw the coffin and walked towards it. “My darling…” she ran her index finger along the top of it. “Always knew it would end here, in Springfield, not death. I made myself believe that the great Roger Thorpe was indestructible and you have to show me up and die!”

Amanda turned away from him as she usually did when they spoke of Holly. “Even in death you picked her over me. You went our entire marriage loving her, wishing I were her. I felt you resented me at time because I wasn’t Holly. I knew you wanted to leave me, but I looked past that and I gave you my heart.” She turned back to face the casket, “And I’ve never regretted that decision and until the day I am laid to rest next to you, I will never regret it. I may not have been the love of your life Roger, but you were the love of mine.”

Amanda heard the doors open at the back. Without looking Amanda kissed her hand and in then placed it on the casket, “Goodbye my love, may you finally rest in peace.”

A single tear raced down Amanda’s cheek as Blake announced her arrival, “Good morning.”

“I’ll leave you alone.” Was all she said as Amanda headed back down the isle and exited the sanctuary.

    **********

Alexandra poured herself a vodka-tonic and downed it within one drink.

“Ready for the fireworks? I’ve waited along time for this.”

Alexandra recalled life with Roger years earlier. Some of their best confrontations were held at the country club.

“And that’s before we even get the divorce. Oh I forgot to tell you Roger and I are getting a divorce.”

“And none to soon. You’re insane if you think I’m sticking around for this.”

“Oh come on Rog…you’re still smart aren’t you? Don’t you want to hear everything I have to say?”

She finished off her second drink when a knock came at the door.

“Your attire from the boutique downstairs ma’am.”

“Thank you.” Alex spent the next several minutes drinking and putting her assemble on. It was a black pantsuit, a white scarf around her neck and sunglasses to hide her eyes. The truth had been buried for her to long. It was time she set it all straight and let the chips fall where they may.

“I have a second chance.” She told herself before one final drink, “Okay Alexandra.” She looked in the mirror and stumbled a bit before heading out the door to the waiting car below.

    And Now "The Guiding Light"
    Opening

    **********

“I never understood what you saw in that woman.” Blake announced, “But then I was my father’s daughter. I married two Spaulding men, you married two Spaulding women.”

Blake took a seat on the front pew and looked at Roger’s casket, “I can’t believe you’re in that cedar box. I don’t know what to say to you…I’m angry that you’re not going to be around to see my kids grow up…and I’m sad because…” she choked up, “that I won’t be able to call you whenever Ross and I have a fight, because God knows we will. I actually thought a few months ago that Mom and Ross had rekindled some long lost love affair before I spoiled it all those years ago. And the first thing I thought of was, what would Roger do.”

She stood and placed her hand on the top of the casket, “No matter what I do from here on out, no matter who I am, whether it’s Mrs. Ross Marler or Blake Lewis,” she laughed at the thought, and “I consider myself blessed and lucky beyond words to be Roger Thorpe’s little girl I love you daddy.”

    **********

Springfield assembled in the sanctuary of St. Luke’s. It would appear that the entire town had shut down. Everyone was there. Holly, Amanda, Blake and Ross sat on the first row opposite of those who come to pay their respects to the family.

Father Jamison took to the podium, “We are here to mourn and to celebrate the life of Roger Thorpe…”

“Apparently he never met Roger.” Ed whispered to Mike and they both chuckled.

“I have something I want to say about Roger.” Billy stood up from his seat. Mindy reached for his hand.

“Sit down daddy.” She warned, “Don’t make a scene.” Mindy told him in a whisper, “Please.”

“Now darlin’…” Billy spoke, “I have to speak my mind because if I don’t I’ll never get the chance to say this again.”

    “Daddy!”

“All of these people know what type of bastard Roger was.”

Amanda bolted from her seat, “All right either sit down and shut up Billy Lewis or you get the hell out.”

“Amanda don’t act like you’re surprised at this.” He reached into his coat and pulled out one of HB’s old pistols.

“Daddy?! Is that a gun?” Mindy questioned, “What is going on?”

“Just doing the world a favor and making sure the bastard is dead.” He announced right before firing three holes into the casket, sending the sanctuary into a tailspin.

“JOSHUA!” Amanda irrupted once more as Blake called out as well, “ROSS!”

“Joshua you get your brother out of here right this minute.”

“Billy,” Ross lectured, “that was uncalled for.”

“Still defended the old son-of-a-bitch?” Billy questioned as Josh took his arm.

“Marah stay here with Mindy, we’re leaving.”

Marah shook his head, “I just done it for good measure.” Billy yelled out, “If Roger is really in that box then I know he’s dead for sure.” Before hitting the doors, “You all should thank me for having the guts to do it.”

Once the doors slammed shut Mindy spoke from her seat, “I am so sorry…”

“Mindy you are welcome to stay,” Amanda treaded cautiously, her nerves shot, “but do not open your mouth again. And one more outburst from anyone here and I’ll clear this church in a heartbeat and deprive you all from finally seeing what you’ve wanted for years, Roger dead.”

Blake took over the podium, adjusted the microphone and spoke softly, “Thank you all for being here, despite everything my father has done.” She unfolded a piece of paper and began to read, “Roger Adam Thorpe, successful businessman, father, grandfather, son died last week of a massive heart attack at his California home. His wife Amanda Spaulding of the home survives him. One daughter C. Blake Marler of Springfield, his father Adam Thorpe, five grandchildren…” she paused, “typically this where one would say and a host of friends and family, but that would be wrong. Consider all of you are not my father's friends. None of you were, he just had his casket shot out of God's sakes.”

“But here you are mocking his memory...you’re all fake and at least my father let you know where you stood with him. If he didn’t like you he let you know it…”

Her words trailed as the back door burst open and the father rolled his eyes.

“Am I too late?” A female voice asked, “God I hope not.” Alexandra ripped off her sunglasses, “Roger wouldn’t want me to miss this!” She purred shocking the entire congregation.

“Alexandra!” Lucy gasped under her breath, “She’s alive.”

Alex made her way down the isle, “I have a few things I want to say Chrissy…”

“You’re alive?” Blake replied as she stepped aside.

“That’s right, I’m alive. Did you all really think hell was ready for both Rog and I?” Alex tapped the microphone, “This is still on right? Good! Roger Thorpe…I was ex-wife… number three was it? And my relationship…” her speech was slurred, “my relationship and my marriage with Rog was a love-hate marriage. I loved to hate him and hated to love ‘em. Because, I did love him…you hear me Roger…I loved you for all of about ten minutes…” she leaned against the podium, “He was always trying to one up me…staying one step…ahead…of me in everyway…even in death. See I’m really dead, or at least that’s what everyone thinks…I guess the afterlife just didn’t know what to do with both of us there so I was spared. I guess I oh Rog some gratitude.” She laughed as Blake approached the podium, “You…step back Blake…I’m done here. I brought this man back into lives when I died the last time, I have right to speak my mind. I was in a plane accident, you remember that don’t you Alan…with Fletcher…” Alex cut her eyes toward Holly, “I was one of the lucky ones, wasn’t I Holly. I managed to get away. It seems to me that we are kindred spirits. Sadly, we also have the same taste in men. I just don’t know why you sit there and mourn the man who raped you!”

    Alex looks around the room.

“Amanda…where are you? I haven’t forgotten you honey. My sometime sister."

“Perhaps you should go home Alex, be with your family.”

“No…” Alex waved her hand in the air, “I have a point to make. You all know Roger’s grieving widow Amanda, my half-sister. It was Roger who uncovered the deep, dark family secret that she was Brandon’s daughter…I knew all along…I know lots of things and I’ve had many, many secrets. Rog brought to us our gold digging, black sheep sister…he did. And I got scared back then after the truth was exposed and in typical Alexandra fashion I ran away.” She nodded her head, “I ran away again recently, because of secret…and I almost…ALMOST!” She raised her voice, “Almost paid the ultimate price…” Alex stumbled away from the podium down to Roger’s casket and slammed her hand down on it, “Save a hot spot for me Rog, maybe in hell we can be friends…” Holly lowered her head in disgust as Amanda approached Alexandra.

“We’re all very relieved that you are alive and well Alexandra, but I will not allow your tirade to continue. This is my husband’s memorial service, not your own personal soap box.”

“Shut up Amanda!” She spoke loud and harshly, “Roger is eating this up. And besides if it weren’t for me coming back all those years ago to confirm what I always knew, you wouldn’t even be here. And that’s what I’m about to do, right now…” she pumped her fist into the air, “confirm what I’ve always know…ladies…gentlemen…Rog…my son is here!”

Mindy looked around her for Nick but no sign of him.

“Not Nick you little bitch!” Alex shouted at Mindy, “He wouldn’t give you the time of day anymore and I swear to God in Heaven Melinda Lewis you keep your crummy little hands off of him…” she paused to build the suspense even further, “my son…” she shouted, “who I gave up for adoption on my terms, not Brandon’s or Alan’s, but mine…Mr. Gus Aitoro!”

Gasps swept through the church as a shell shocked Gus froze, Lucy by his side. “Well go on Gus, stand up, and make your presence known. And thank Roger for it…”

Almost like she had ordered Gus stood up and exited the sanctuary, with Lucy quickly behind him. Alexandra looked across the church at their faces, “What?” She questioned, “You’re all sitting there shocked…don’t be.” She turned back to Blake, “Carry on with your mourning. I have a family to reunite with.”

    **********

“Are you okay?” Lucy finally caught up with Gus in the parking lot.

“How am I supposed to answer that?” He fired back…

“Gus…” Alex caught up with them, “This is not my fault,” she stumbled, “this is not my fault. You wanted the truth and I gave it you.”

“Alexandra. I think you should have your drive take you back to the mansion.” Lucy suggested, “Let me talk with Gus.”

“What the hell are you going to do Lucy? Scream my name some more? Because that worked so well the last time.” Alexandra fired off.

“That’s not fair…” she was hurt, “Don’t you dare, not even for one second place that guilt on me.”

“She’s right. This is all your doing.” Gus told her, “I’m out of here.”

“Wait, you don’t want to talk?” Alex asked, “You’ve asked for the truth, you’ve begged for the truth Gus…this is it.”

“Maybe I only thought I wanted the truth.” He slammed the car door and spun off in a heat of anger.

“Welcome home Alexandra.” Lucy sighed, “This solved everything, congratulations!”

    “Lucy…”

    “What?”

    “Harley?”

Lucy stopped mid-step, “Barely Alexandra. And just so you know, until she recovers fully I hold you responsible. Her blood is on your hands. Go have another drink and get the hell out of my sight.”

    **********

Holly felt the cool air hit her bare legs and she dropped Blake’s hand, “I want to be alone with your father, one last time please.”

“Okay.” Blake kissed Holly’s cheek. “I’ll ride back with Amanda to the Spaulding mansion, and leave you the car.”

“Thank you honey.” Holly looked intently at Roger’s final resting spot. “Make sure and tell Ed not to wait on me.”

“Are you sure? Mom, Ed really is concerned…”

“Christina!” Holly warned, “I want to be alone with Roger.”

She stood in silence and waited until she heard the last limo pull away, “She is your daughter, through and through.”

“I never expected this Roger. Damn you. Damn you. Why is it that whenever I try to put my life back together, you always come to tear it down again? Even in death. Death. Roger, I always thought that you were going to go out in a blaze of glory not quietly into the night. Yet here you are. Not a bang but a whimper.”

“Well here we are…sorry that your service wasn’t normal, but I think you enjoyed it. You always liked to be the center of drama in this town, gunshots and Alexandra…it’s nothing new to you.” Holly smiled for the first time in a very long while and almost laughed, “I thought Amanda was lying when she said you were dead. I just struggled with the fact that you fell to your death in Santo Domingo and survived. Yet in the end it was your heart that finally gave way. That’s irony for Roger.”

“I don’t know what to say. I don’t know how to make peace with you, with us or even myself lately. For so long you were a part of me, almost defining who I was. Roger you violated something that was so precious and I’ve never truly recovered from that. You’ve caused so much pain and hurt so many people over the course of your life: me, Ed, Alexandra…and despite it all, despite every flaw that you had, despite you raping me… in spite of our twisted relationship I managed to love you. No one understood you and they never understood us or why you had this hold over me, but that’s okay, because we understood. Our love for one another was ugly, you said it yourself but it was ours…” Holly pulled a single rose from atop the spray, “it was our love and it was okay that no one understood.”

“You kissed me once at the cliff house and said that I could love you at the end of the world. That’s where we are Roger, at least the end of our world. I love you, maybe not the way you wanted me to, but I did and I will continue to in my own way.” She leaned down to kiss the casket and then placed her hand in the same spot, “Angels persist Roger. Clouds persist, they become showers, they become lakes, and they become clouds again and they persist as we persist. I’ve never forgot those words…and no time soon will I ever forget you.” She stood at the foot of Roger’s casket and ran her hands up to the top, “Goodbye my love.”

    Nine Weeks in the Future

    <HR>

“Would you like to see a menu Mrs. Spaulding?” A waitress at Towers questioned, “Sir?”

“That won’t be necessary Darlene, Mr. Winthrop and I won’t be staying long.” Beth answered. “Cass I know that you’re just doing your job but I really appreciate you coming all the way from Bay City today.”

“No problem at all Beth,” Cass answered. “I know that we’ve talked a lot about this day over the course of the last eight or nine weeks, but just so I’m clear…”

“Cass…I’m so sorry to interrupt you but you’ve asked me this same question at every meeting we had since I filed for divorce and my answer has always been the same.”

“I’m aware of that Beth. But, the relationship you had with Phillip…”

“Is over,” she assured him. “Olivia Spaulding suck her greedy sharp claws into Alan, she sought out to wreck my relationship with Lizzie, she published a very private diary that I wrote during one of the lowest points in my life, she had a child with Phillip and the worse part of this whole damn thing is that Phillip loves her.”

“I can only imagine how you must feel Beth and I apologize for the hurt this has caused you.”

“Thank you and I appreciate that, very much.” Beth paused, and then spoke sternly and directly. “Phillip is an incredibly wealthy man and I want half of everything I am entitled to as his wife, Spaulding stock, alimony. I want custody of my son, I want the art gallery he promised me and…” she stopped mid sentence.

“You want the affair exposed in open court?” Cass asked.

Beth took a moment to answer, “You bet your ass I do.”

“Would you go ahead and e-mail those figures to me,” Mindy Lewis questioned from the comfort of her apartment in Paris. “Okay then Daddy,” she shook her head, “have Wanda or Uncle Josh send them. You really need to…” she listened as Billy attempted to lecture her. “Just have Wanda do it. Okay?” Mindy listened as Billy called out to Wanda. “How’s he doing?”

“It’s tough for him Melinda Sue,” Billy answered. “It helps hearing from you though.”

“And the baby?” Mindy questioned, “I spoke with Michelle earlier in the week and she said that the baby might go home this week.”

“That’s right. Just between you and me darlin’ I don’t see how that little girl could not be a Lewis, because she is one of helluva of a fighter.”

Mindy laughed, “I miss you so much sometimes.”

“You oughta come see your old man more often that would remedy that problem of yours.” Billy listened as Mindy explained how busy she was and that it was hard for her to get away.

“Listen Marah just got off the phone with Danny. I’ll call you later Daddy. I love you too.”

Marah had her hair pulled up in a tight ponytail and even though it was early afternoon in Paris she was wearing some pink PJs that Reva had sent over weeks earlier, “Was that Uncle Billy?”

Mindy shook her head, “Yeah, he’s freaking out over an email that took Wanda a second and half to send over. Any luck getting Danny on the phone?”

“Take a guess?” Marah sank down on the sofa next to her. That had become sort of a tradition lately, Marah called Danny…he didn’t answer…she came to Mindy and cried and asked the same question time and time again. “What in the hell was I thinking? Michelle has a baby…quite possibly Danny’s child and I flip out…”

“Marah don’t put yourself through this torture again, you did what you did because you were scared. It’s completely understandable.”

“No! No it’s not Mindy. The man I say I love needed me desperately and I refused to stand by him. How do you even begin to apologize for something like that?” Marah laid her head on Mindy’s shoulder and tears slowly streamed down her cheek.

    <HR>

“All rise. This court is now in session the Honorable David Chandler is preceding.” A court bailiff called out as Beth cut her eyes toward Phillip. She loved him despite everything that he had put her through with Hannah and Olivia. He was apart of her, no matter what was about to happen.

Across the courtroom, Phillip stood also reflecting on his past with Beth. His mind raced back to a Christmas nine years earlier and something that she had said to him, “Phillip don’t you remember all the dreams you had? I do, I remember them like they were yesterday.” Beth did know his dreams. She held a large part of his heart and his past. Nevertheless, he knew it was time to move on, it had to be because he was in love with another woman.

Ross and Cass almost at the same time touched their client’s hand so they would set down. “Mdm. Court Clerk will you call the case number please?” Judge Chandler ordered.

“Case number 8912-A, comes now the petitioner Beth Raines Spaulding seeking in this court a legal decree of divorce from the respondent Phillip Granville Spaulding.”

“Is there representation for both parities?” Judge Chandler questioned.

“Cass Wintrhop for Beth Raines Spaulding. Ross Marler for Phillip Spaudling.” Both lawyers addressed the court.

“All right then let’s get this underway shall we? Mr. Winthrop as the petitioner please tell us why Mrs. Spaulding comes seeking a divorce from Mr. Spaulding.”

“You’re honor,” Cass stood to address the court, “Mrs. Spaulding has filed this petition with court because of her husband’s infidelity with one Olivia Spencer-Spaulding.”

Ross stood, “Your honor we do not object this fact, however we feel that the dissolution of marriage should be lack of communication.”

“Your honor my client has evidence in the form of a DNA test that will prove to the court beyond a responsible doubt that during their marriage Mr. Spaulding was unfaithful, while not physically, but mentally to his wife…”

“Objection your honor!” Ross called out. “My client was never unfaithful to his wife during their marriage…” He paused when Phillip touched his hand, “Your honor may have a moment to consult with my client?”

“Let’s make it quick Mr. Marler.”

“What are you doing?” Ross questioned, “Let me do my job.”

“Cass is right, I was unfaithful to Beth. I lied about Olivia and the baby.” Phillip shook his head, “Believe it or not but I do love that woman. Just agree with what Cass says and whatever she wants she can have.”

“Phillip, you’re acting in the moment and as your attorney and your uncle I have to advise you against doing anything hasty?” Ross lectured, “If you give in to her demands you’ll be giving up the chance for full custody of James. Phillip, is that what you want?”

    “Mr. Marler…” the Judge announced.

“That’s fine if that is what you want to do Phillip, but you’re not thinking of Olivia.”

    “How do you mean?”

“If we allow them to expose Olivia as an adulterous then her chances for that pre-nup holding up in court are going to be shot to hell,” Ross warned. “Is that what you want?”

“I have to protect both of them, the woman I love and the woman I used to love and still care for. You’re a smart man Ross. I trust that you’ll fix this.”

    <HR>

“I made a horrible mistake.” Marah finally admitted for the first time in eight weeks.

“And you think you’re alone in that mistake?” Mindy replied. “Please tell me that you haven’t forgot what Danny said to Michelle before we left for New York City.”

Marah closed her eyes and thought back to the morning after they all learned the devastating news.

“You don’t need to pack a bag for yourself, it’s only immediate family.” Danny explained from the doorway of Marah’s suite at the Santos Mansion. “Michelle’s made it perfectly clear that she’s the primary caregiver for the baby until the DNA test is performed.”

“And what Michelle wants she gets, isn’t that right Danny?” Marah asked as she zipped her luggage, “You know what don’t answer that. And this bag isn’t for the hospital, Mindy called and she needs me in Paris.”

“You’re leaving?” Danny questioned. “A little girl that could be my child or your cousin is fighting for her life and you’re running away?”

“What would you have me do? Stand by in the shadows and watch as you console Michelle, promise her that everything is going to be all right? Hardly, I love you far too much for that Danny.” She declared as Shayne honked the horn from the driveway, “That’s my brother, I have to go.”

Marah sat up on the sofa and jolted herself back into the reality of the matter, “How do I fix this? How can I explain to a man who has been nothing but good and loyal to me…”

“He’s not been loyal,” Mindy reminded her. “He kissed Michelle and where I come from, the same you do that’s not loyal.”

“But he’s been good to me, nevertheless. He was good about not pressing charges against Roxanne and my mother.”

“We’ve talked about that Marah, your mother didn’t have any control of Tony’s death, it was Roxie.”

Marah took a deep breath and rubbed her face, “I know…I have to go home don’t I?”

She lightly stroked her cousin's hair, “I’m afraid so and I’m afraid my reasons for wanting you to go home are selfish.”

    “For Bill you mean?”

“If we’re going to get this company off the ground then I need to be in New York and Marah I can’t do that until I sell my apartment here and get the design house moved.”

“Okay, okay. Either way I need to be there.”

“For Danny, for Bill and please Marah, please start making a mends with your mother.”

“Thanks for listening, I’m take a nap.”

“You know you’re just like Reva in a lot of ways,” Mindy remarked, “you jump without looking first and then somehow manage to land on your feet. That’s certainly not a Lewis trait.” Marah shook her head, “I’ll wake you for dinner.”

    <HR>

Ed, Michelle, Bill and Danny all sat outside the NICU. Michelle had summoned them there a hour earlier because of a development with the baby.

Reva stepped off the elevator and headed down the hall. “Hello everyone,” she announced her arrival. “Bill your Daddy called me and asked that I come down.”

“Is there something wrong?” Bill questioned.

“Just some meetings he couldn’t get out of. He’ll be down right after,” Reva explained as she returned Bill’s hug. “Has the doctor been out yet?” Bill shook his head no and led Reva over to an empty seat out the couch across from Ed and Michelle. “How is everyone? Danny.” Reva smiled. “Michelle I hope you don’t mind me being here, Bill wanted Billy to come…”

“It’s fine Reva,” Michelle answered just as the doctor emerged from the NICU.

“Looks like that little girl in there has quite the fan club,” the doctor smiled.

“You said that you had some news about the baby,” Michelle cut to the point. “Has something changed?”

“Something has changed indeed,” he explained. “It appears that the baby responded very well to the surgery to repair the whole in her heart. We’ve monitored her as you know for the last nine weeks and we’re ready to put her in a nursery for a few days.”

“And then what?” Michelle asked, as she looked at Ed, “Dad?”

“Well then Ms. Bauer you’ll be able to take that little fighter home for good, I would recommend giving her a name however.”

“Of course,” Michelle breathed a sigh of relief as did Danny and Bill. “I hate to bring this up, but it is something that has been worrying all of us since she was born.” Michelle explained, “There needs to be a paternity test ran immediately on the baby, we have some issues with determining who the biological father is.”

“Yes, Dr. Ramsey made that perfectly clear when I took over the case. I had one of the nurse’s take a sample of DNA from the baby’s cheek, it’s the lab right now.”

“So you need Bill and I to do a sample?” Danny finally spoke up.

    “That’s correct.”

“Can they do it now?” Ed asked. “I just think we’ve put this off for far to long…” he finished as his beeper began to go off. “I’m sorry, excuse me.”

“If Mr. Santos and Mr. Lewis are ready, now would be an ideal time.”

Everyone began to gather their belongings as Ed hurried off to the emergency room. Danny lightly touched Reva’s shoulder. “Have you heard from Marah lately?”

Reva shook her head, “She called Shayne last night. Has she not…”

“I see.” Danny cut her off as he and Bill hurried off to the elevator leaving Michelle and Reva alone.

“So how you holding up kiddo?”

Michelle shrugged, “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, that’s for sure. I just want to go in there and hold her in my arms…she’s two months old and I’ve never held her, that’s torture.”

“I know.” Reva took Michelle into her arms, “Why don’t you let me buy you a cup of coffee and you can tell me the names you’ve picked out for that little girl.”

Before Michelle could answer Reva’s phone began vibrating. “I’m sorry Michelle I have to answer this…hello, Marah.”

“Mom, can you hear me?” Marah asked.

“Of course, is something the matter?” Reva listened as Marah explained what she had been dealing with the last few days, “Tomorrow afternoon? Okay I’ll be there.” She assured her daughter and for the first time heard the words, she had waiting to hear for months. “I love you too baby.”

“Marah coming home finally?” Michelled asked as she hit the elevator button.

“Yeah seems that way.” Reva dropped her phone into her purse, “So how about that coffee?”

“Not today Reva, thanks anyway.” Michelle got on the elevator and selected a floor. “Maybe you should tell Marah about the paternity tests, I’m sure she would love to know.” Was the last words Michelle spoke before the doors closed, leaving Reva alone in the waiting room of the NICU.

“Okay seeing that both parties are in agreement with the splitting of the assets and custody of the minor child James Spaulding will be handled outside of this court.” Judge Chandler signed some documents, “Mr. Winthrop does your client wish to retain her married name?”

    “No your Honor.” Cass answered.

“Very well.” He signed some more papers, “Ms. Raines, Mr. Spaulding in the eyes of the law your marriage is no longer. Your attorney’s can see the court clerk for all the required documentation.” The Judge dropped his gavel and the court went into recess. As Cass and Ross went to the court clerk’s office it left Phillip and Beth alone. Phillip stood to leave and caught Beth’s eye.

“You know if you ever need anything…”

“I’ll call.” Beth said softly as she turned her head away and let a tear fall down her cheek.

After a little over three months of airing as Michelle Bauer-Santos, former "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" starlet, Christie Clark has opted not to continue with the blog.

"Christie was wonderful as Michelle and we wish that she could have stayed." Shared Hawkins, "In the end it was a mutual decision to part ways and we wish Christie the best."

So what is going to happen to Michelle?

"We brought back the three previous actresses who have played Michelle to retest for the role." Hawkins continued, "We wanted a familiar face to work with the cast." To that end, Bethany Joy Lenz, Rebecca Budig and Nancy St. Alban were brought it and tested with Peter Simon (Ed), Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny) and Alexa Havins (Marah) for the role.

"The chemistry between Havins and Budig was there, but in the end it wasn't enough for her to win the role." Hawkins said and confirmed that in fact it is "One Tree Hill" and former Reva-clone actress, Lenz who has won the role.

"Dan and I talked and fought about this for a long while." Hawkins shared, "In the end though it was Bethany who had the most chemistry with the three actors we paired her with and we look forward to working with her in the future and telling Michelle's story."

Lenz begins Friday, February 09 and will have her own, "IN the LIGHT" next week.

    **********

Beautiful decorations adorn the Beacon Hotel for the benefit Valentine’s Dance. Couples dance and dine in Olivia’s Bar, which has been transformed for the occasion.

Phillip and Beth sit at one of the tables sipping wine and toasting to each other.

“To us and to a new beginning,” Phillip toasts.

“Here, here!” Alan interrupts as he walks over to the table. Alan notices that Beth has something weighing on her mind.

“What’s wrong Beth? I thought you would be enjoying this?” Alan asks.

“Someone told Lizzie that Phillip and I got married without us telling her first and now she is furious with Phillip and myself,” Beth acidly remarks.

“I’m sorry to hear that Beth. I wonder who could have told her.”

Beth replies, “Oh, I think that you know.” She turns toward Olivia sitting at another table and glares at her. Olivia smiles and gives her an innocent-looking wave.

The Role of Shayne Lewis is now being played by Ben Hogestyn.

At another table, Shayne, Tammy, Ben, and Marina crack jokes while waiting for their food to come.

“Ok, so I turn and look at Marah, who is wearing like the ugliest dress on Creation and I say ‘Marah, why are you wearing that, it looks like Ralph Lauren vomited all over it,’” Shayne teases.

Tammy hits Shayne in Marah’s absence while Ben and Marina laugh. Marina looks at her watch and nudges Tammy.

“Why don’t we go freshen up before the food gets here?” she asks Tammy.

They get up and head to the restroom. “Be nice, boys,” Marina calls back to them.

“God, women. One of them goes to the bathroom and it sets off a chain reaction,” Shayne jokes.

The guys laugh and look at each other, wondering what they can talk about to break the awkward silence.

“So, read any good books lately?” Shayne asks.

Meanwhile, Tammy and Marina stand in front of a mirror in the bathroom. Marina takes a package out of her purse and opens it, revealing rows of birth control pills. She pops the pill in her mouth and drinks the water to wash it down her throat. She then looks at her face in the mirror. “I’m so ready for this Ben,” she says seductively.

    **********

At another table, Alan-Michael and Lucy silently sit. A-M decides that now is as good a time as any to give Lucy her gift. He slips a small package over to her side of the table. However, Lucy is still too mad to take it and open.

“Honey, please. I know you’re angry at me, but could we just put things aside for tonight?”

“Alan-Michael, what you did was horrible. You can’t buy off my anger this time.”

Lucy flashes back to her phone call with Hope and wonders if she did the right thing. She pauses and picks up the gift.

“I’ll give you tonight Alan-Michael, but you better dazzle me.” She smiles and opens the gift.

Meanwhile, Hope stands at the main desk of the hotel to reserve a room.

“And how long will you be staying?” the clerks asks.

Hope thinks and says, “I think I’ll have to get back to you on that…”

    **********

Reva and Josh sit at the table eating and reminiscing. Reva’s smile drops when she thinks of her estranged daughter.

“Oh Joshua, If only everything was okay with Marah and I, my life would be perfect. I wish she could forgive me.”

“Marah’s a stubborn one. Kind of like her mother,” Josh grins. “She’s more like you than she is willing to admit.”

Reva laughs, “Well that’s always a bad sign.”

“No that’s not what I meant. Marah will come around, I know it. We have raised our daughter well.”

“Well, at least you raised her,” Reva laments.

“Let’s not get started on that subject. Here, we’ve made our appearance here. Why don’t we go to Towers now. I have a special night planned for us,” Josh hints.

Reva and Josh rise to leave, but when they do, Marah and Danny enter the room!

    And Now "The Guiding Light"

    Opening

    **********

After reserving a room, Hope tries to find her way to the party. When she discovers the party is in the hotel bar, Hope pauses and wonders if she should go in. However, she realizes that her son’s welfare is more important and begins to walk towards the party when she is stopped by one of the hotel guards.

“I’m sorry Ma’am, but you can’t go in without an invitation.”

Hope replies, “But you misunderstand, the invitation is under my son’s name, Alan-Michael Spaulding. I just arrived a bit late.”

The guard checks the registry and allows her to go in.

    **********

“Why do you think Olivia told Lizzie about your marriage?” Alan asks.

“Why does she do anything Alan? She’s probably been plotting this since she heard about our wedding. Phillip’s off the market and she wants revenge,” Beth quips.

“Well, I will deal with Olivia,” Alan replies.

“I would appreciate it if you would.” Beth retorted.

Alan walks over to his wife and asks if he can sit down with her.

“Olivia, did you get my gifts today? I had them sent overnight.”

“Yes, I did. They were beautiful. You really outdid yourself Alan. Now I’d appreciate it more if you would give me that division at Spaulding I wanted, but I’ll take any small measure of devotion I can get,” she hints.

“Anything to please my wife,” Alan says, ignoring the hint.

“You know Olivia, I had the weirdest conversation with Beth and Phillip. Lizzie has found out about their marriage and they seem to think that you are responsible. You haven’t heard anything about this, have you?”

“Of course not Alan. What could I have to gain by exposing their marriage? Phillip’s out of my evil clutches anyway.”

“Olivia, I think the pressing question is what do you have to lose?”

    **********

Ben and Shayne continue to make idle talk as they wait for the girls to return. Somehow the conversation turns to women.

“You seem to make Marina happy. I haven’t seen her like this in awhile. Please, just don’t hurt her,” Shayne says.

“Marina has really changed me Shayne. Before I met her, I was such a jerk. I’m sure your sister has told you that. Love changes you. I know that sounds hollow and cliché but sometimes it is true. I’m sure you know what it’s like,” Ben replies.

“Yeah, I do,” Shayne says uneasily.

“You know man, maybe it’s time for you to go out looking for a relationship? Just turn on the ol’ Lewis charm and you’ve got her,” Ben says.

“I just…I just don’t want to look for one right now. I want to wait until after high school. This year is so hectic with getting into college. A romance would just get in the way,” Shayne stammers.

“I understand man. Oh speak of the devil,” Ben jokes.

Marina and Tammy return to the table and look around the room to see who is around. The waiter comes with their food and they sit around and eat. Marina looks at her watch and sees that it is getting rather late.

“It’s time guys. Ben, wait for about ten minutes and then come up the back stairwell. Shayne knows where it is, he will take you there. Don’t be long,” Marina winks.

When they are sure that no one is watching them, Tammy and Marina get up from the table and sneak out of the party. Ten minutes elapse and Shayne and Ben get up and go to the back stairwell.

“Here it is man. Have a good night,” Shayne says as Ben runs up the stairs to continue his Valentines Day.

    **********

Reva and Marah lock eyes, but Marah ignores her and guides Danny to an empty table. Reva walks over to the table to try to talk some sense into her.

“Listen sweetheart, I know that you are going to hate me every other day for the rest of your life, but I just want you to understand that I never meant to hurt you,” Reva explains.

“Well you did anyway,” Marah coldly replies.

“I didn’t mean to hurt you Marah.”

“Intentions, mother. You do know what they say about intentions, right: they pave the road to Hell. Now I’ve think we have said everything that was to be said. I will never be able to forgive you for what you’ve done. I noticed you and dad were leaving, so why don’t you get the hell out?”

    At this, Reva explodes.

“Tell me Marah. Why can Danny forgive me for the loss of his cousin, a person he thought of like a brother, while my own daughter turns her back on me? I know that I have made many mistakes over the years and I know that that I have made some bad decisions. However, I had no idea that Richard’s death would cause Roxanne to go insane. My mind wasn’t even thinking that. My main thought was about Richard and the pain that HE was suffering. I know you think that I am a horrible person that ingratiates herself into other people’s lives, but that is not true!” Reva yells.

“Tony’s death is just the final straw. You’ve never given me a thought. You certainly didn’t when you drove off the bridge, when you were torn between us and your royal missing years, or when you, hell do I even have to go on? To you, we are an inconvenience that you just have to ignore and we’ll fade into the background. When, I ask, did you EVER give us a second thought?” Marah retorts.

Josh tries to calm down the situation before it spirals out of control. He takes Reva by the arm and takes her out of the Beacon while everyone looks at them. He tells Marah that he’ll call her later as they leave. Danny and Marah look at the entrance that they disappeared through and sit down to rejoin the dance. Everyone turns their attention to their own party as the situation settles.

“Maybe you should forgive your mom Marah. You know that she never meant for Tony’s death to happen. She knew that you loved him and if you will remember, she went to bat for you with Josh. Just give her a chance. She knows she made a mistake without you rubbing it in,” Danny explains.

“Danny, I don’t want to talk about it. That’s not what this night is about,” Marah replies.

Danny realizes that Marah does not want to go on with this topic and changes the subject.

“Yeah, tonight is a very special night. I was actually going to ask you tonight if you would want to, I mean, I know that it is still soon after Tony’s death. But would you want to, you know, make love with me?”

“Danny. I’ve been wanting to do that since December,” Marah smiles as they kiss.

    **********

Shayne and Tammy return to the house with pizza and movies to spend the rest of Valentines night. They go up to Shayne’s bedroom and begin to eat.

“Ah, this is so much better.” Shayne remarks as he gulps down a slice of pizza. “I love your mom’s hotel, but I’ve never been one to eat food I couldn’t pronounce.”

“Shayne that narrows it down quite a bit. You’re vocabulary is pretty limited.”

Shayne grins and puts on the movie.

“Tammy, I fart in your general direction.” Shayne recites in synch with the movie. To this Tammy laughs and hits Shayne with a pillow. “Stop blabbering, I can’t hear the movie!”

“I tell ya Tam, who needs Valentines Day when you have a date with Monty Python. Those damn card companies and their campaigns.”

“This is nice. But don’t you ever get tired of being so alone. I mean, what happened to that one girl that you were with about a year ago? Scared her off?” Tammy grins.

“Nah, she just wasn’t my type. That’s all.”

“It’s just. I worry about you Shayne.”

“Well, I’m fine. And why did you go sic my sister on me for? If you wanted to report on some drama, you should have got Marah and my mom together, Shayne asks.”

“I’ve noticed you Shayne. You act so distant, like your mind is about a million miles away. I worried about you and I thought she should know. You and Marah have always had such a great relationship.”

“Had being the operative word there. I had a strong relationship with my sister, but I can’t help but feel her slipping away. I guess that’s what happens when we grow older,” Shayne laments.

“You can’t let that happen Shayne. You have to try to get her back. There has to be a way that she will forgive Reva.”

“Nope. And Marah can hold a grudge better than anyone I know. She still hasn’t forgiven me for when I put the frog in her pants at Uncle Rusty’s house. She seems oblivious to anything that doesn’t concern her. She just doesn’t understand,” Shayne sighs.

“Are you sure that there’s nothing wrong Shayne?” Tammy asks, noticing his facial expressions.

“No there’s nothing. Stop worrying or you’ll put a damper on our little party. Now watch the movie, they are just about to discover the Knights of Ni.”

    **********

“What do you mean by that Alan?” Olivia asks.

“I think, Olivia, that you have nothing more to lose. Is Beth right, did you tell Lizzie simply to get back at Phillip for leaving you?”

“Alan, I would never tell Lizzie. And even so, as you said, Phillip is gone. He means nothing more to me. You can relax, I have been a good little girl scout.”

Alan shoots her an “I’ll be watching you look,” as he gets up from the table. Alan notices a familiar face approach Alan-Michael and Lucy.

“Hello darling,” Hope says to a stunned A-M.

“H-Hi mom! What are you doing here?” A-M asks.

“I’m here to save the day sweetheart. It seems that since I’ve been gone, Alan has been making you in his own image and I’m hear to put a stop to it. I received a rather disturbing phone call from your wife, saying that you stole a classic move from Alan’s playbook. Is this true?”

A-M angrily stares back at Lucy.

“You tattled on me to my mother?” A-M demands.

“Yes. And I am not one bit sorry that I did.”

    **********

Twenty times, I’ve tried to tell you. Twenty times, I’ve cried alone. Always I’m surprised how well you cut my feelings to the bone.

Ben and Marina kiss beside a bed in a Beacon suite. Ben lowers her gently on to the bed and they begin to make love.

Don’t want to leave you really. Just wanna break the ice. Do I look silly to you when I yield to your advice? When you say we belong to the light, we belong to the thunder.

Josh brings Reva back home to their bedroom. Josh takes his hand and wipes a tear from Reva’s eye and moves close to kiss her. Reva takes off his shirt and they walk towards the bed.

We belong to the sound of the words we’ve both fallen under. Whatever we deny or embrace for worse or for better. We belong, we belong together.

Beth and Phillip cap off their first Valentines Day back together back at their room in the Spaulding mansion. Phillip takes Beth into his arms and places her down on the bed. He undresses and gets under the covers.

Maybe it’s a sign of weakness that I don’t know what to say. Maybe I just wouldn’t know what to do with my strength anyway. Have we become a habit? Do we distort the past? Now there’s no looking forward and there’s no looking back.

Alan alone in the dark of the Spaulding study thinking about the events of the evening. He puffs out a smoke ring from his cigar. Olivia walks in and goes to Alan’s chair and puts her arm around him

Till we say we belong to the sound of the words we’ve both fallen under. Whatever we deny or embrace for worse or for better. We belong, we belong together.

Recently Stephanie Gatschet sat down with us at a restaurant near the Stillwater set of SONBC blog, "THE LIGHT." She talked openly and freely about her role as innocent heroine Tammy Winslow, the current state of the blog production, her long contract negotiations and more!

SONBC: Welcome! How are you enjoying the new locations?
SG: It's no New York City, but we're all getting very used to it! We pre-tape a lot of stuff and we lump it together, so making the trips in and out aren't nearly as bad as we thought it would be!

SONBC: Production seems to have been at a stand still as of last week, any updates as to what is going on?
SG: Stillwater experienced back-to-back snow and ice storms, it shut down set for a few days. Grant Aleksander (Phillip), Beth Ehlers (Harley) and a few others were in Stillwater and they managed to shoot a few scenes. Production has resumed and an all new episodes will begin airing this week!

SONBC: Well that's good to hear. So how are you liking the current regime, this is your first interview since Gobble and Hawkins began thoughts?
SG: You know their finding their footing! It's going to take time, it always does but going back in time I think was the best move that they could have made. But from an actor standpoint I was worried that the same stories would be told all over again, so far that is not case. (Smiles.)

SONBC: During the ice storm, you and the executives had your own little storm brewing! Let's talk about contract dealings from last week, it was a close call.
SG: It was a very close call! I've been with "Guiding Light" and then to continue with "The Light" was a big question in my mind. It comes down to wanting to play good stories and being able to do those other things that you enjoy. I was pitched a story that would occur if I stayed and even if I didn't stay. I was made perfectly clear I was welcome and that Josh wanted me to stay, but if I didn't then the role would have been recast. Thankfully for everyone it worked out.

SONBC: Tell us, what you can about that story!
SG: The good thing about going back in time is that there are four relationships that haven't been explored: Marina, Lizzie, Shayne and Tammy so now we get to see that develop. I'll be sharing a lot of scenes with David Tom (Shayne) and that story begins in February!

SONBC: We were told that Dan Gobble wants to bring Jonathan Randall on this year. Is there any update there.
SG: (Laughs) Jonathan will arrive this year! His name is popping around the set, I just shared a group scene with Laura Wright (Cassie), Kim Zimmer (Reva) and others were his name was said a few times. It will be interesting to see what occurs when he does finally arrive. (Smiles and laughs.)

SONBC: You act like you know something more than you're not saying.
    SG: (Shrugs shoulders) Maybe.

SONBC: We'll we're glad you're staying with "TL" and look forward to seeing you for how many more years.
SG: At least two! And thank you!

    The Light: Episode 003
Friday, September 8, 2006 At Cedars, Dr. Rick Bauer arrives and tells Josh and Reva that the attack on Shayne wasn't as bad as it had originally appeared to be. Reva thanks Rick and in private tells Josh that they need to talk. Before going off, Reva asks Cassie to get in touch with Olivia, ASAP.

From the Springfield jail cell, Edmund demands that he be allowed to call his attorney: Cass Winthrop. But before he is able to make the call, Cass arrives shocking Edmund. Cass explains to his client that Alexandra telephoned him when she learned of his arrest and further tells Edmund that the case, does not look good.

Olivia is heading out when she comes face to face with Alan at her door.

In Connecticut, Lizzie Spaulding boards a plane, first class in route to Springfield.

Gus arrives in Zurich, Switzerland with the intent on meeting and confronting Roy Baker. However as he is prepared to leave his hotel a phone call from Harley stops him. She says that she has been trying to get him on his cell for hours and he explains that it's not working. Because he's on the hotel landline, Harley ties him up for 30-45 minutes.

Phillip and Beth are in route from the airport to the Spaulding mansion when they have a flat tire. After discovering that Beth does not have a spare, Phillip calls Triple-A leaving the divorced couple alone to wait.

Olivia is taken aback when Alan barges his way into her room. He yells at her for leaving him alone on the island, while Olivia tells him it was her only choice. Alan warns her about crossing him especially since she is carrying a Spaulding heir...his child, nonetheless.

Phillip and Beth finally return to Beth's hotel room at Towers, after Triple-A and Beth questions why Phillip has been so standoffish during their trip and he decides to go ahead and reveal why. Phillip tells Beth she is and will always be his best friend, no matter what happens in their lives. Beth tells him to tell her what the problem is. Phillip decised to reveal that he and Olivia have sex, but Beth mistakes everything, and assumes he wants to be back with her again and she pulls him into a passionate kiss!

Reva tells Joshua that she had Cassie call Dylan earlier and he's on a flight to Springfield as they speak to take Shayne and Marah to Minnesota until the stalker is caught. Josh says that the believes the stalker has been caught.

Still holding her cards close to her chest, Olivia assures Alan that she is pregnant but before she can tell she believes the baby belongs to Phillip her brother arrives and throws him out, just as the phone rings. Sam answers and hands the phone to Olivia. Cassie tells her that Reva has asked to see her immediately at Cedars, in regards to the stalker case.

At the courthouse, Edmund is denied bail and sent back to jail where he is formally charged as Reva Shayne Lewis' stalker.

In Switzerland Gus arrives at the hospital only to learn that Ray Baker died of a massive heart attack, after waking from his coma only an hour before Gus arrived. Devestated that he's gone, a nurse questions who Gus is and hands him a letter addressed to "Gus Aitoro." Inside he finds a key with address as well.

Agreeing with Josh, that Edmund is behind bars and the family is safe she goes back in to see Shayne and discovers a vase of black roses. Reva freaks out and calls out for Josh who reads the card, "Dial S for Slut...They've got the wrong person" Reva tells him it doesn't matter if Edmund was behind this or not, her children are going to Minnesota, as Olivia arrives.

Alone, dressed in black at a payphone in front of Cedars a person dials the number for Cedars. A nurse answers the call and pages Dr. Mel Bauer.

Olivia wants to know why she was summoned and Reva updates her on the stalker case and tells her she is sending the kids to Minnesota. Olivia asks how that concerns her and Reva says that she wants her to go to San Cristobel and assure Jonathan's safety.

At Cedars: "Dr. Mel Bauer." A short pause, "Hello this is Dr. Mel Bauer, may I help you?" The person breathes heavily and then speaks with a disguised voice, "You're on my list----bitch!" Next On 'THE LIGHT' Michelle and Mel share a heart to heart! Gus gets a huge clue in his search! Phillip makes a huge decision regarding the women in his life.

A shuffle behind the scenes of "THE GUIDING LIGHT" have brought production of the SONBC blog to a halt!!

"As of Thursday, February 15, 2007 David Tom was released from his contract role as Shayne Lewis." Executive Producer Josh Hawkins said.

Tom who joined the SONBC blog on September 4, 2006 completed twenty-three weeks as the son of Josh and Reva Lewis. "All actors and actresses, with the exception of a handful are on a thirteen week cylce." explained Hawkins. Executives and Tom came to the conclusion to terminate that agreement three weeks early.

"David has been nothing but wonderful during his time at "The Guiding Light," however age became an issue." Hawkins stated, "We've all seen the writing on the wall lately and the pre-nominations were the final straw, so to speak." Tom exits immediately and on good terms with the soap.

"I've loved my time here at "GL" and would love to return perhaps one day." Tom said, "Afterall this is a soap opera and my sister does call it home. Josh and Dan have crafted a great story for Shayne that some actor will be fortunate to play."

"Immediately after this became an issue Josh and I began debating back and forth as to who the new Shayne would be." Shares co-Head Writer Dan Gobble. "We brought in three fine young actors and screen tested them with Robert Newman (Josh), Kim Zimmer (Reva) and Marcy Rylan (Lizzie.)

Drew Tyler Bell (Ex-Thomas, B&, Scott Clifton (Dillion, GH) and Ben Hogestyn (Ex-Harry, B& all read for the role and after careful debate between Hawkins and Gobble they decided on, Ben Hogestyn.

"Ben is an amazing addition to the cast and "The Guiding Light" family." Smiled Hawkins. "He has every feature we were looking for to be the offspring of Josh and Reva."

Hogestyn who is the son of "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" leading man, Drake Hogestyn has had short term roles on "General Hospital" as Lucas Jones and "The Bold and Beautiful" as Harry. "Ben has had a bumpy ride in daytime so we're glad that he is here with us to play a role that we clearly adore." Gobble said.

"The writers know who Shayne is. They care about his relationship with his parents, with Marah, his friends and the entire community." Hogestyn said after landing the contract role, "I have big shoes and high expectations to fill and I look forward to doing just that."

Because of the recast, production came to a stand-still during the Valentine's Day episodes earlier this week. "Those episodes were a group effort and we had to go back and reshoot."

Hogestyn first appears opposite Stephanie Gatschet (Tammy) and appears in the credits immediately.
