  1. On second thought... never mind.

    smile.png

Were you going to mention how Phoebe looked into the camera at the beginning of the first clip? :P

SOD praised AMC for giving Phoebe that line about Ann.

Wow. Enough cannot be said about Julia Barr's work in that second clip. Knowing she had a young daughter of her own must have given her plenty to draw upon. The sight of that little cream casket and all of those cream roses is just too much, so sad yet beautiful. The last time I remember seeing Laura was when she was being naughty and lying to an adult (the last shot of the scene was her crossing her fingers behind her back). I'm trying to remember if that was her fibbing to Barbara about going across the street, because I remember my mom telling me that she was killed soon after that.

Was Sean still on the show at this point or did he just come back for the funeral? Seeing Frankie, Scott, and Bobby again makes me wish they had reestablished these kids' friendship as adults.

Amy's a good artist. I like the bird on her protest sign. LOL

I think it's a Hawks vs. Doves reference.

  2. I haven't seen Anderson's new show, and I hate to admit this, but I went back on my vow and watched about 30 seconds of that ridiculous food show today. Oh, brother. I kid you not - I rather slam my thumb in a car door than endure a full hour of that sh!t. I say this even if it hadn't replaced AMC. It was so bad.

I switched over to Nate Berkus. It wasn't the best, but he had Carson Kressley on today to co-host. They should hire him permanently; he was pretty funny and had chemistry with Nate. I liked when he said to the overly excited woman he was doing the makeover for, "Drink your juice, Shelby!". Haha! My bf totally didn't get the Steele Magnolias reference. ugh

I've been saving this gif for when somebody has a real freakout, but here ya go:

  3. OMG I'm done at the hip hop guys in the audience gleefully clapping for Julia Barr. Damn 90s.

LOL, and I found 9:12 really funny for some reason... Susan's face when the woman says, "I have a question for Julia Barr." And WTH, Susan's giving autographs at commercial breaks (12:25)? Very cute.

  4. I love the way Erica looks in that first scene with Jack (who is looking very Phil Hartman in the SNL spoof).

Susan sounds like she has a bit of a cold when she sits down with Jenny. She looks like she's dressed for the Budapest remote with Dimitri.

  5. Yeah, what's so funny is that I have little recollection of REAL Silver/Erica scenes. I remember Silver more with Jeremy, Goldie, Dr. Lazarre, and of course Natalie. I did see Palmer find her in Timmy's toy chest that day, and of course he dumped her in his pond. That's another early Dixie memory, her freaking out finding her cuz she, "keeps (her) eyes open so (she) can see snakes!"

  6. I was intrigued by the idea that Erica had a sister and a stepmother (Goldie, Louise Shaffer) and I thought the Dr. Lazarre (Charles Keating) stuff was pretty neat as a kid. I can't really comment on any impression her acting may have made on me. I do remember that she played more of the innocent victim ingenue while Claire (the first, "The role of so-and-so will now be played by" that I clearly remember) was pluckier in the role and she of course got to play the darker-jealousy stuff with Natalie. I've talked about this all before, but Dr. Lazarre had this sort of gold/jeweled amulet thing that looked like a fancy spoon handle or something and he would pull it ut and hypnotize Noelle/Silver with it. There was a figt on a boat at Cobbler Island where Goldie and Silver's house was and Goldie got pushed overboard and drowned. Later, the vision of Goldie's ghost atarted appearing at the top of the stairs freaking Silver out and it was really a hoax and Goldie had some weird smoke and mirrors set-up where she was still alive and appearing as a projection... so nuts, I wish I could rewatch that era and fill in all the blanks.

  7. That is definitely the first REAL Silver, Rosalind Ingledew Allen. She was still known as Noelle at this point and she had a thing with Jeremy. She would sleep walk (eyes wide ass open) and eventually it was revealed that she was being hypnotized by Dr. Lazarre to kill Erica in her hypnotic state.

  8. LOL, there were other posed stills from that Terrence-gets-his-ass-whooped-by-Deconstruction photo shoot that I remember seeing and DW does a poor job of selling ANY of them.

Wow, so Ripa and Thrower were totally effing. Would probably seem like a lifetime ago for her if she saw that layout.

  9. Patrick Duffy auditioned for Clint On OLTL in 2005

I bet Erika and Robin woulda eaten that up. Steve Kanaly would have been a little more on the mark, but like JVD, would be missing that particular gruff, angry streak that Clint Ritchie had. He was good as Seabone on AMC but he had a gently, sleepy quality that I find in JVD's Clint.

  10. Love that disco pic. Mark's awkward on the verge of white man's overbite stance and Erica in full on pose.

Carl, I did not know that about ML playing Eric in flashbacks, really wish I could see that. He does resemble Albert Stratton (who was of course cast later).

  11. Now I just wish we had photos where she holds a guitar or talks about EST (two of the staples of these articles).

    Susan Lucci the ESThole.

I like these grainy b&w peaks inside these soap actors' relatively modest apartments. Reminds me of the Beverlee and Scott McKinsey doing jazz hands one Carl!

  12. Oh my God. In another time and place, Liza and Andreas would be beige and calling me Daddy. On the bed, at the piano, and the one in between, these are the hottest pictures of her in her youth that I have ever seen.

(The one of her standing kind of looks like a robot Margie Impert.)

  13. Geez I haven't seen something like this on soaps in years. (the Max/Gabrielle scene). It's so ridiculously overwrought but they really make it work.

When Max went down and that horse popped up I just about died. See, I thought that was pretty hot even if the kissing was understandably a *little* half-hearted seeing as how they're scene partners and not real-life lovers (I assume). When's the last time anything's been really "hot" on a soap? Just a bunch of idiots walking around in black underwear.

This was a nice little story on Lucci, but the nicest part was even after all these years even CBS news knows what the true AMC theme is. Lucci looks amazing in that clip walking along the street. It's unreal how from a distance she looks like a woman 30 years younger.

2:35 took my breath away. And I love the way she looked before she cut her hair in the Betty Ford s/l ("NO, I am not going to a CLINIC!")

Clips almost entirely provided by the All About Erica video. biggrin.png

  15. Granted, I was in elementary school, but I definitely remember glamorous Nexus and sordid Foxy's, and I didn't even get that they were in separate locales. It was seamless (and exciting) to my young mind. Capitol tried something similar with Atlantic City, having the Cleggs for example take very realistic limo rides up I-95 to Jordy's casino. In hindsight, I think it was pretty damn brilliant to give Erica her satellite life in New York. It's absolutely realistic that Erica would have had to go there to achieve the career she did opposed to trying to make her an international supastar out of Pine Valley, and it was beyond feasible given Manhattan's relatively close proximity to the Philly burbs. The perfect answer to what the '80s were calling for in terms of glamour while staying true to the show. Wish I could relive it.

  16. I had to laugh at her being cast as a deaf mute. Twice.

I feel like a bit of a jerk for sort of assuming that there wouldn't be much depth here. She has an interesting story. So I guess she was Paris' "grandma" for a little while there. wacko.png

That picture of her in the blue blouse reminds me of this picture of Carolyn:

  17. Yeah, I think Lisbeth "left quietly" or whatever. The episodes I have leave so many blanks in between so I try to piece together by reading the synopses.

Gosh, that stage punch is so awful! Brenda looks so cute eating bon bons and bobbing around on Jordy's water bed. I guess Lisbeth hadn't had a ride on it yet. I *just* noticed that his name is engraved in his comforter. As you can see, Jordy turned the cabana out back into his bachelor pad.

As for Tyler, I know that he and Julie adopted a little girl, Allison, but I don't think he's in most of the later episodes I have with Cat Hickland. I really need to rewatch those tapes, I think I'd have a better understanding of what was going on now.

I think the last Lisbeth episode I have is Sloane and Trey's wedding where Thomas is her date and she and Jordy keep eyeing each other. Of course Thomas ends up with Kelly, Jordy with Leann (before she takes a tumble).
