It would be nice to have some conservative posters in this tread who could make intelligent fact based comments but the truth is there's very little about the current behavior of Republicans that any intelligent fact based person could defend. So we're stuck with these crackpots blathering on about Hillary, Obama, and Pelosi.

I'm gonna go old school, because it came to mind:

    Word.

That and they didn't realize they were even voting against their own health insurance.

They're damned either way because even if this doesn't get repealed, Trump will keep strangling the market until no providers will want to participate.

Democrats will get the blame, because of terrible messaging, a media that worships Republicans, and a public that is apathetic and easily manipulated. And deep down I am starting to wonder how many leading Democrats actually want to win anyway - it's certainly easier, and more lucrative, to just tsk-tsk about Trump.

Bottom line is racism. Pure and simple.

How do you get a blue collar white West Virginian to believe that SOMEONE ELSE is the enemy that is taking jobs and tax money from you?

Blame the black man or the welfare queen or the Mexicans.

The reality is there has been such a long-seated plan very carefully designed by Those in Power (i.e. Rich White Men) to pit the Poor against one another. It is all very effective, because it keeps us living in fear of the Other.

I continue to feel little to no pity for these folks. Probably not nice of me, but hey... Maybe listen when an ass tells you...he plans to continue to be an ass if elected?

As Maya Angelou said, when someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them.

Now, though? To his voters, you broke it, you buy it. Have fun!

Actually, this is a little more like my child broke it, and even though I didn't break it, I'm still gonna have to pay for it.

Is it wrong that I want them to bring back George Clooney as Booker?

That's actually one of my favorite TV moments. I like how Roseanne just gives Dan a look and he simply walks out. No words and the audience was allowed to figure it out on our own.

To me, this is what Roseanne, the show, did best.

Two of my other favorite (similar) moments:

    1. Jackie's phone call to the aunt about her father's death. "Dad's Dead!" This one is shown a lot, but it is a classic example of why Metcalf has all the Emmys and was so beloved.

    2. The end of the episode where DJ wouldn't kiss the black girl. Roseanne and Jackie are at The Lunch Box, and a Big Black Man comes to the door. Roseanne acts as if they are closing, but eventually lets him in. The man turns out to be the little girl's father, and wants to discuss DJ and his little girl. After he leaves, Roseanne actually locks the door, pulls down the shade and says to Jackie, "We're not racist; are we?" Roll credits. So simple; so powerful, and yet left the audience to "figure it out."

Omigosh! I remember these promos. Fascinating People...Fascinating Lives..

And David Canary? Sheer genius. For the first six months I watched the show, I actually believed twins were playing the role. After all, they showed him as both Adam and Stuart in the opening pictures...

She was Laurie, and she was awful, and I can't believe how she has broken out. That whole teen scene, with Ridings as JR, and Amanda Seyfried (who I also can't believe broke out, but has grown in her abilities) was such a snore.  Remember the cyber messaging crap?

However, this was very sweet regarding being starstruck by Kelly.

  5. First of all, her hair was SO eighties!!

It was interesting to hear the rumor about how Newhart would end, given the actual finale is in the annals as one of the more interesting series finales of all time.

I was in high school at this time, so not following Friday night television. IF they didn't know it was ending, did the finale feel like a finale?

  6. Great interview with La Lucci! Wonderful insight! @Jonathan

I'm not familiar with "Spoonful," but I agree that this was a wonderful interview. He was very well-versed and clearly a fan, but he wasn't overly pandering. As always, La Lucci was gracious and taken aback. Learning about her grandson was touching and brought out a very real side.

  7. Apparently Shondaland has decided who they are voting for.

Funny. I was "with Shonda" when she was "with Obama" 8 years ago. I had a chance to meet and speak with both Shonda and Kate Walsh when they stopped by the campaign office. Perhaps, she felt, as I did, that we needed to go with Obama's momentum, and Hillary could have 2016, giving the Democrats reign for a time to come.

However, I don't think anyone could have predicted the complete implosion of the Republican party. I remember just before 2008 thinking the Democrats never could "get it together." I still think the Dems do not have as strong a position as the Republicans; it's just that the Republicans have tipped into crazy-land.

  8. I always think of AMC and the Crystal Ball still this time of year.

Ms. Lucci sure is getting mileage from this role in Joy. Very happy for her. And that green looks fabulous on her.

I am not surprised Agnes Nixon is into that type of thing.

  9. Here's a link to the LA Times story on Robin Strasser's new house in Thousand Oaks, California: 37 pictures, I'm willing to bet she's already taken a sledge hammer to most of it, but the backyard is what would sell it for many people, plus it's in a gated community and is very Knots Landing.

Location, location, location. This is a simple, modest home that has no business going for a million dollars. Do not get me wrong; I like it, but in my neck of the woods (Midwest), it might fetch half that.

  10. OMG...this is so eighties! And I forgot about them!!

Some early Roxette. This is from their first album "Pearls of Passion", released in 1986.

I always thought she had a great voice.

Makes me wanna dance in front of shards of mirror in a furnished warehouse loft.

  11. I remember this episode! Dixie was a super slut back then. I believe the episode prior to this had Dixie on a plane, contemplating whether she was going to choose Tad or Brian. Then they showed a split and she said, "I have to choose Tad."

After Michael Knight left, Dixie went to Craig (Who Shot Will?) and somehow wound up with Brian (bypassing Dr. Andrew along the way). I never really bought her with Brian; it seemed forced, and of course, Brian should've been with Haley, who was already mixing with Charlie and Alec at this time. I wasn't crazy about Brian Greene as Bodine, and he didn't last long.

Along with high-waisted pants, here is where Cady McClain's flirtation with awful hairstyles would soon take off.
