then Frankie,
I recall reading that Frankie was an imitation of Luna Moody on OLTL. Of course, I have no memory of who said it, so who knows if they knew what they were talking about. But, I believe that both Frankie & Luna were linked to all sorts of New Age trappings, which is not true of either Lisa or Remy.

Now, I completely bought Lisa as a genuine psychic. And, I am sure she had the abilities from the get-go. Didn't she experience things that were proven?

Enemies to friends (or at least, friendly) - Julie/Susan, DAYS
Well, really, Susan & Julie started out as best friends - and then David came between them & Little Dickey was born & Susan changed & wouldn't give him up for adoption. And, basically, they were bitter enemies from then on, weren't they? It was off to the races, Bill Bell style.
Otalia was a classic case of 2 people beginning as bitter awful horrible enemies, working through to become friends & then becoming co-mothers to Emma & then to falling in love. Natalia & Olivia, GL. Natalia had abundant enemies when she first got to town & took Gus away from Harley.

I don't know if the character of Cheryl would have worked better for me if they had paired her with a badder yet age-appropriate boy. The only thing that made Scott bad was his link to Reginald which he rejected and in any case was offset by devotion to his and Cheryl's mother. He just seemed nice and too mature for her.
I always thought Scott was too old for her.

Oh, I forgot what a bad girl Lorna was! Remember when Robyn Griggs Maggie got to town but was saying her name was JOY!??

I think her aunt Nancy went further (although still fairly mildly) off the rails -- she befriended Marley chiefly to get closer to Perry and because they were rich, after Perry's death became dependent on drugs, and got into trouble with Ada for going into debt and sleeping with Chris Chapin out of wedlock.
Yes, to all of this Mandy stuff & there again, I forgot about Nancy! People thought Rachel had given Ada a hard time - and she had. But it was nothing compared to Nancy when Ada was older, to boot!

When Ryan showed up at Wyndemere last Thursday I legitimately shocked, even though it was telegraphed in the episode I was like "oh shît".
THIS.
I literally screamed out loud when it was Ryan at the door, even though he had just said, plain as day, "One more stop!"

This is what I've been saying. Not with many people thinking I made sense, though! 🤪 Heather was trying to protect Esme by putting up a screen. She made two Hook attacks - Rory, who was just an opportune target at the wrong place, at the wrong time. And, then, she attacked Joss but ended up killing Britt. I was told that the reveal on the actual original Hook would be March. Can we possibly wait that long?!!!

William DeVry would be great!
In my head I see Peter Hermann or Tuc Watkins.
Well, personally I can't see Peter Hermann but yes yes yes to either Tuc Watkins or to Wm. DeVry!!! And, I think Cady can be taken at her word at being available when & if DOOL needs her. And, I know she has other irons in the fire. She's really a daytime girl, traditionally, after Dixie on AMC & Rosanna on ATWT, it's in her blood.
@JosephI know some people have missed Missy. I just haven't had the experience myself.
@janea4oldThanks for looking things up, as always!

I can't remember.
I don't even know if I knew details of the story, just that it was planned and scrapped.
Okay, well my point, obviously, is just that as long as Missy's not coming back, I don't see an impediment. But, I don't know if they've left it that she can come back if she wants to, so, ... that would effectively put it in limbo.

He'd bring loads of story for J&J, their offspring and shake things up at DiMansion. He'd be hot with Chloe too, IMO.
It's unfortunate BTS stuff from 30+ years ago keeps him from being used because he's such a workable piece. Recast if necessary but the character shouldn't be off limits.
I don't know why past BTS history would be an impediment at this point. And, he still has his looks. And, I presume he's around.

don’t like Allie, but she deserves better than this.
They’re making her run away like a coward.
I do like Allie and I agree she deserves better than this. F' gods sake she's the daughter of Sami & Lucas making her legacy Brady & Horton & Johnny's twin & they have so much twin stuff! Plus, she gave really good story with her pregnancy & backstory in London & wanting to give up Henry, etc. And, she gave good story when she was possessed. Doesn't all that count for something?!! Besides she's an excellent actress. She seems to be able to field anything they throw at her. Even hum drum daily crap. I don't know if I see coward or not. Run away or away from or toward?

So Jake, who killed people, gets to go to Heaven but Nick, who did a few bad things probably because of PTSD is a demon? Go figure 😂😂
Well, that was a good show. Sonia & Kreizman did well. But, I still don't know who stole the orchid, although it seems like the guys do! And, Jake did a good deed. But it was Challie that was amazing. Not only did they have an honest to goodness good farewell where they talked & hugged & cried, but Allie relived their whole relationship in flashback as she cried after Chanel left. I dunno. They're still very much in love with each other & they were very careful & tender with each other at the end, so maybe they're leaving a door open for the distant future.

dated story5 hours ago, chrisml said:issue point. It killed any momentum Scott and Cheryl had together or as separate characters. If I recall, Scott was to turn out to be Donna's child, but it never materalized after Anna Stuart left.
I don't believe it was ever made clear whether the "Scott as a triplet" story was just rumor, or actual possibility or written & then unwritten. But, whichever it was I don't believe it related to Scott's part in the Dawn HIV/AIDS storyline. If they'd wanted to do that storyline, they would have.
Thinking of Dawn's story as dated, as only able to be told as it was back in the day, ... I wish some show would do a modern story that addresses how much loss we had as friends & as fans from that particular plague. It's like we lived through it, barely, but we never reflected on it. Instead there was silence.

@Melroser's earlier comment about Amanda being too mature during Christine Tucci's run reminds me of a question I was going to ask: did it feel like Vicky was the only woman in that group who got to cut loose and consistently be a vixen? (Or am I misinterpreting Vicky's later characterization?)
Lisa, Marley, Thomasina, all good girls. Amanda when she was Mandy did cut loose & rebel big time. Then she calmed down. But, later Evan could get her riled up again. Caroline dealt some underhanded stuff. But, yeah, classic Vicky, first Wheeler & then Heche she WAS the wild child from the get go! For the most part she had that lane to herself.

Yes and no. It appears that the Dawn storyline was airing at approximately the same time as All My Children's. Based on the recaps, it appears that AMC did begin its storyline with the drugs factor (through Mark). I find it interesting that AMC apparently didn't introduce the sexual aspect/Cindy until after Mark tested negatively.
Okay, thanks. I am surprised that didn't show up in the Daytime Confidential piece.

I'm not sure if The Doctors was always in the same studio, but the show did add a bunch of new sets in anticipation of the possible 1970 spinoff. Carolee got her own office. There was a large student lounge and student dorm rooms. After the spinoff wasn't picked up and the story ended, the dorm and student lounge were dropped. So the studio was able to accommodate additional sets albeit for a short time.
Could be that Colgate-Palmolive was prepared to pay extra rent for extra space for something that seemed worth it to them! I would think a spin-off would be a time to reach into your pockets!

To me, Dawn's story does not age well.
As someone who saw it contemporaneously & who was aware that no other soap had done anything on it at all, yet, I am not surprised that we see it about 180 apart. To sum up I thought it was a great storyline & I was proud of it. When there was a body of soap HIV/AIDS storylines & Jamey Giddens wrote up all of them he gave it good marks.
Given the circumstances I didn't see her as someone who was doing a lot of whining or blaming. She continued to love her mother. If anything Chad was harder on their mother than Dawn was. And, going back to that time, yes, people did ask, "Why me?" And, they asked it in spades!
Yes, it's true that they told the story of an innocent & that's not surprising at all for the first venture. As well there were plenty of stories abounding at the time of "innocents" being so afflicted.
I thought they played out very relatable beats. And, they had her innocent & had her death offscreen. Fit perfectly at the time. It's not a story you would tell today. OF COURSE NOT. But, it was a good story in its time. I even liked Scott's speech about going to DC to work for the issue.

Fair enough. For what it's worth, I don't think expansion was the solution for every show. It limited the amount of timeslots networks had available.
Fair enough. FWIW, I'm not convinced that Clarie Labine & Bill Bell & Agnes were right & the half hour is the best native time frame for the show for creative purposes & also for reasons of cost. Soaps used to be so reasonable to produce. How much easier was it for daytime to get more & more expensive with 90% of it an hour long! To say that I'm ambivalent about the shows going to an hour is an understatement! And, you see, Pete Lemay who is my #1 fave writer did not find the hour show got him what he had wanted out of it. His were creative wants of course. Disappointed.

Excellent! I always resisted that because Frankie seemed like such an original, not a rip-off of anyone. And, no matter how whoo-whoo Frankie would seem at times, at other times she was solid Frame, salt-of-the-earth, grounded in reality!! At least that is what I saw in her.
Okay. I see. I was already leaning toward believing that Lisa had this ability & then proved things just brought it all the way home, to me. I was a big Lisa fan & I was the only Lisa fan I knew! My girlfriend of 21 years & I would find ourselves squaring off over Vicky versus Lisa at times & we never once had any other argument over anything! It was hilarious.
That is so cool that Y&R used a real known psychic! I don't guess you recall her name?
