But, I've never had the sense that Ron is either lazy, burnt out, or dismissive about trying to create an entertaining show.

It seems to me that now so many people different places online think exactly that he is burned out. Actually it's like a consensus opinion, burnt out, has favorites, has those he either dislikes or is not interested in & has some need to go too far with either comedy or camp.

  2. #GH Mon. 7-3

Kind of funny having such a very long scene with Carly & Sam. The whole episode seemed long to me.

Gladys just barely made it through the cover story Miz Wu created. I did love Sasha, though, while Gladys was going on & on, interminably, her facial expressions were giving a Master Class!!

Drewfus, at Sonny's just to take a guitar to NEddie? Contrived scene. And why has Cam lost so much weight?!

Thank god, TJ has progress with Willow!

Since when is benzo a mild sedative?! I'm so tired of them doing things to poor Sasha. I don't watch soaps to see God cursing Job!

    Pentonville & Cyrus, just creepy.

    Not a great day. A'tall.

"I'm searching for tomorrow and I can't wait for it." - Jo, SFT, last line
The final scene was a bittersweet, final toast, "To Texas!" - last line

"Oh, my darling, I won't be coming here anymore. I won't be going anywhere in Llanview." - Carla, OLTL, the character's last show

"Your mom's married to Ned, right? So, you speak Quartermaine?" GH 5-12-23

The affiliates would never have gone with giving up that much local time to the network

Well, they had no choice. It was imposed on them. They hated it. AW had been a darling to them till this. They figured it was the show's idea so they began to dislike AW.  And, that's about when the NBC affiliates began to be called renegade affiliates. Threatened to drop the show altogether, etc. And, it was Fred Silverman's baby. Pete Lemay quit over it. After the fact an NBC programmer said they did it because they couldn't think of anything better to do! Talk about your debacle! Now, of course the term "renegade affiliate" is a redundancy.

So they really were going to have Bev come back as Iris in 99?  I am surprised they just did not ask Carmen to come back since at this time the newer audience would have been more receving.  I would expect Beverlee to be much older at this time too and would have seemed odd as Iris would look much older the VW and especially her siblings, Amanda and Paulina but that would have been magical.

Yes, Chris Goutman asked for some things & Bev was okay'd by P&G but then she declined.

Bev would've been 64 & Vicky was 54 but that age gap was the same earlier. Do you mean because Carmen was younger?

And, I agree that it would have been great drama for Bev to just appear at the Cory mansion. Maybe we'd hear her voice before we saw her ... And Vicky would be flabbergasted, totally thrown. What could have been ...

Goutman asked for 2 months. Of course they said no. They were working with the fixed dates of the Olympics, though, so at least there was a reason. Supposedly he asked for something about the kind of show but no one knows what.

I guess Megan invited Gwen because she is dating Dimitri, but would Gabi want her late fiancée's ex-girlfriend at her engagement party?

How do we know Megan invited her? Maybe Dimitri just brought her as his date.

And, maybe I'm being absurd & paranoid, but I've wondered if there's an active dislike of all things Horton in Ron's Writer's room.

And another thing about Leo was illustrated today. He has this disconnect where he's obtuse or oblivious or both. This morning he was exploring questions to EJ & Kristen that he's interested in, while they are *still* tied up. I wonder if he's on the spectrum or ADHD.

I guess we have Lin Bolen is to thank for the hour long soap opera and Wheel of Fortune? Those are the two things that she put on the air that are still around! Her legacy?

I think the 60 minute format was ok for established shows. Trying to introduce new shows at 60 minutes was a mistake though. It's never worked long term. Santa Barbara came the closest to success, at 9 years, and even that show would have been so much better, and perhaps lasted longer, at 30 minutes.

Interesting that from 1965 on, all the new soaps NBC tried to introduce failed. In hindsight, perhaps they should have just doubled down and focused on the health of their old stand-bys of DAYS, The Doctors, and Another World.

Personally I believe that the network expansion was overall a detriment to the genre. Not hard to believe since it came not out of any creative impulse but just strictly the quick & easy way to increase ad revenue to the networks.

"My nose leads me to bondage dungeons." - Leo

"Unless you want to commit to your nom de plume 'Lady' UNTIE US!" - Kristen

    "Not helping Gwen!" - Gabi

    Today Harris Michaels = Jason

Loved Gabi's heroism, gonna miss her. Also gonna miss Megan. Party guests looked great! Especially Gabi & Megan. Elsewhere Nicole looked great. Shout out to Richard Bloore!

Rafe arrested Li! Gosh I wonder if this could be a way to get free of this actor! I can hope.

Overall not a bad day. This was a 37 min. day & they repeated quite a bit from the beginning of the party & Megan's speech on family, so if they hadn't, it would have been one of the shorter episodes. At least Stephanie was mute! Last week she had the social skills of a squirrel.

There are some shows that, even when they weren’t the greatest back in the day, were still watchable on the strengths of the actors, as you say, @Khan, and just the vibe. GL is certainly up there for me. That said, I started watching circa 1990 as a kid, so I don’t have the same deep anger surrounding the decimation of the Bauer family and the other characters who were dismissed around 1983-85. I can certainly imagine people feeling the way I felt when the Santos crime family and the San Cristobal set displaced some of my favorites. But how can you not love Mary Kay Adams jousting with Beverlee McKinsey, for example?

Alan Locher did a Zoom with clips, a Watch Party, with Nancy Curlee & Kimberly Simms, where Alex was mostly taking on Mindy but there was Billy too. Great, amazing scenes!

  10. Recently I found out from Scott McKinsey why Beverlee declined to come be in the AW finale. As many people surmised, it was her health. Living in Santa Barbara in 1998 she had a kidney transplant. Her doctors read her the riot act about being careful & changing her life, etc. to try to avoid organ rejection. Reluctantly she even sent her little dog Savannah back east to a dear friend in NY. She didn't fly. She was just very careful in all her every day doings. So then it was April or May 1999 when Chris Goutman called with the invitation. And that would have meant flying as well as a lot of energy expended on doing it. So, it's still our loss but it was definitely for cause.

  11. "I am grateful for the awareness of the sheer munificence of life as it keeps on rolling on despite our little problems. Sharing our lives with our friends and our family is far stronger than anything that world out there can do to us. Today especially, though indeed every day, Rachel and I our truly blessed. Our riches are at this table with us today. [Looking to the viewer] As indeed you are in our hearts every day. And so I give you, all of us, I give you life!" Mac's Thanksgiving toast, 1988

    'sheer munificense'MacToast1988.jpg always got me

  12. I collect certain kinds of pictures & I fool around with filters & with AI images. My collections are Laughing, Toasting, Punching or Slapping, Girls in Swings and Goofy Faces. AW pix got me started on this because I found a picture of Douglas & Stephen & Kale laughing like crazy. And then I wanted a picture of Mac toasting & there were none to be found. So, I made some. Just using YouTube videos & screen-capping & editing. People ask me for picture of Felicia with long hair, when she had the hair extensions, her birthday, Jason's murder. There weren't any. So I made some.

  13. Yesterday was Connie Ford's birthday. She'd have been 100. And, I found a picture of her in her early career that is new to me. Labeled as "Daisy Bronson" in ROME ADVENTURE. Connie Ford as Daisy Bronsons Rome Adv.jpg

Talking about the feud between Nic Coster & Beverlee McKinsey, I don't find it odd that some actors just do not get along with each other, have clashing styles, etc. Beverlee had a photographic memory. She learned her lines & the punctuation & the stage directions and everyone else's lines, too. On the weekend she would begin with Friday & work through the week's scripts with Monday being the last one which would also be the one that she had to perform next. She said that she considered every possible direction she might be given so she'd be prepared to give that. Now, Coster apparently accused her of not being a spontaneous actor & that she always gave the same reading, unless she was specifically directed to do something different. Supposedly, to test her one time, he came to the set without his pants on, just his shirt hanging over his boxer shorts. He said she didn't even notice. Connie's my favorite actress. And I adore Beverlee & her son Scott is a friend online. And I liked Nic. He was very comfortable online. I give him kudos for having been married to Lisa on ATWT as 2 different husbands, John Eldridge & Eduardo Grimaldi! Nobody else has that distinction!!

And yet, now I remember the ghost of shallotpeel from the GL Buzz Boards and the P&G boards and she was banned from both of them. And I mean this with complete sincerity, I wish her health and mental stability to be well, but she's an absolute deranged lunatic, and she needs to seek help and I hope that she receives it. Her racism is where I draw the line. And I can be a pistol.

You can serve and mince your racism to me prepared scrambled, sunny-side up, poached, or however you want to serve it to me, but I will still call a spade a spade.

Sorry to be going back to a post from the past but I want to say something. This is either a woefully bad memory or a case of mistaken identity or a flat-out lie. I have nver been banned from any site, ever. I as never even suspended from posting for "x" amount of time until the very modern 20xx's. Specifically I was never banned from that GL Buzz Board or from Media Domain, the 2 places back in the day that were known for people fighting. P&G boards? I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not aware of the existence of any. You could have found me on RATS or in the Delphi Soap Opera Forum where I was Asst. Mgr .

As for the rest of it, inaccurate & untrue. But, you're entitled to your opinion no matter how ill-informed.

    7. Portia (Brook Kerr just seems so happy to have a real character to play after 10 long years on Passions playing garbage)
    8. Mac
    9. Felicia (even though I think Kristina Wagner is an awful actress but she's so cute I can get past it)
    10. Alexis (I just like seeing NLG work)
    11. Anna (because she's Anna and Finola. I find her stories useless filler, even moreso with Valentin right there stinking up the screen)
    12. Austin (surprisingly. And once he's away from Ava I'm absolutely positive that will go away)
    13. Liesl (entirely because of the actress)
    14. Nikolas (if he's alive and played by Adam Huss or someone who isn't Marcus Coloma)

Minus characters who haven't appeared in weeks/months like Monica, Lucy, Martin, etc. Literally everyone else could disappear and I'd be grateful.

That's a great list! I really hope Lesley Charleson gets recuperated & rehabbed & gets back to us. I read in an interview with Jane & Tony & Kin that her nickname is "Lester". Cracks me up. I think Maura West is playing her best part ever, right time & right place & right writing, where Ava & Maura together are both a badass dame & a queen. You've got a slew of badass dames on your list! I like them all. When I made my don't like list I forgot that I don't like Gregory so I am impatient for them to write something else for Alexis. Liking Liz & liking Liesl is new to me & I think they are both great & both of them looked really fine in the last 2 days. I've liked all your other ladies forever & a day. I didn't even mind Brook wearing her bridal gown for days on end because it was so beautiful on her. And she's had fantastic dialog. Your guys I enjoy, too, but they have "buts" with them. I'm afraid they're going to pair Cam with Esme, which make me go OH NO. I hate that Cody Bell is Mac's son. I'm so glad they've paired Austin with Ava. At long last, something right! Okay, enough.

@TaoboiEven though GH stepped it up for sweeps. The only soap to do so. It could have been better. While i loved seeing Sprina finally kissing. I can't stand a dying Weeping Willow. Plus, on GH there's only a small number of characters i care about. I just have indifference or disdain for the rest.

I only have a short list that I do not like: Nina, Sonny, Dex, Mason & most of all, Cody Bell.

Who is on your short LIKE list?
