On Spoutible, Profile has a company line with a checkmark box to use it as your Display Name. Right now mine is "AMPTP: Pay the Writers!" & I flip back & forth with it & my actual Display Name. Kinda cool.
The Spoutible emoji set has at least 2 emojis of Spoutible images.
Explore wasn't working but is now.
#daysofourlives and #soapspouts are working hashtags.
Definitely has the look & feel of twitter only working well & lots of friendly people assisting #newuser

#GH Wed. 7-5-23 Strike up the band! Today is truly a red letter day. Willow threw the baby step book out the window & took a huge running leap into the great unknown. Willow's about to go home - and we hope that doesn't take a month in real time - and she'll still be immuno-scared so she'll have bubble of people who can see her in person & she see them. Yes, you saw it coming, she has invited Nina to be in her bubble. However she laid down the law that Carly will be there too & now if not before when she asked, NO MORE FEUD!
PI Felicia (Hooray for that) discovered Marty makes a 50 thou deposit monthly from Pine Valley!
Lucy details a snake in their midst stealing information about the Deceptor.
Tracy wants to hire Diane to go after someone for stealing Deceptor the Idea!
Whattaday!

I know that some people disliked it, but they used Sam Groom, who had previously played Russ, as the officiant at Cass and Lila's wedding. If they could not think of a way to use Iris well they might have been able to come up with a way for Beverlee and/or Carmen to play some other part that would deliver fan service and acknowledge the performers. (On the other hand although I had liked both John Aprea and Alice Barrett and I don't object in theory to actors playing different roles I wasn't thrilled with Alexander Nikos or Anne O'Donnell, so maybe it would not have worked.)
Oh, good! You've reminded me of the other thing I usually give Goutman credit for. He used every cast member in the show & Sam Groom & Alice Barrett & Carolyn Culliton & Richard Culliton & Sam Ratcliffe were bonuses.

AW: Samuel D. Ratcliffe was supposedly the writer of most of he Cass-Felicia-Wally high jinks although I think Gary Tomlin did some of that writing, too. Also Iris's maid Vivian was a comedic character played by Getchen Oer, I think that was her name. Plus there was a comedic device where all the plants had names out of Greek mythology.
A big "ditto" to Santa Barbara where Mason's alters were played for laughs instead of serious issue drama. And the drag queen!

Yes, that was the point I was trying to make that the audience in 99 may not have even know Bev. She had left the show 20 years earlier. For us long time fans, that would have been great to see her but ideally Carmen would have been the choice I think the network would have wanted.
Pardon me while I sputter. NBC had no interest in what the content was of any AW broadcast & hadn't had an interest in years. They wanted the show off the air & they were getting that.

Ron and Jamey
Thank you. As you probably know Jamey is a darling to many on #SoapTwitter. I like the fact that he does in-jokes & drops in references to other soaps. I like the fact that he admires Irna to a huge degree, quotes her & writes like she did (And Bill & Agnes did) where he talks it all out using different character voices before he types it. And, after those two things I just can't figure how he got hired. Apparently you've known all this time!

If Iris had returned for the finale, I assume it would have been a cameo like Mark Pinter/Grant anyway, so why not? That way, anyone watching could have imagined her as they remembered her.
Yep. That is exactly what Goutman should have done. To a tee. I hate to be too critical of him but he really bungled the finale. The video recordings so the actors could speak directly to the fans, well, that one thing was brilliant. Enough said.
Okay, one more thing. I do not think they went to a lot of trouble to try to get Bev. Getting in touch with an actor you want to come onto your show is pretty much business as usual.

The people in charge at Loving made many decisions that I will never understand. Why they did not do everything they could to get back Peter Davies (Jim Vochek), Perry Stephens (Jack Forbes) and James Kiberd (Mike Donovan) is at the top of my list.
There's a recent article on LOVING but it's really pretty short. However, there's a disqus conversation going on, still current, and it has 38 comments so far. Might be of interest to a LOVING fan.

new infoJust the other day I was in a conversation about Haley Pullos's wreck & we talked about Jensen Buchanan's wreck & the next day I saw a fan online who always knew what Jensen was up to so I inquired. She is still not back in circulation. Her last gig was something brief in 2018. I wonder if she will ever really work again. Of course, there aren't enough jobs to go around for all of the soap actors who were put out of work due to cancelations.
Found out that Jensen took part in Kim Wells AW FB group for awhile but hasn't posted since 2020. Kim's group is about 2 thousand strong.

I don't know how much of the AW audience in 1999 would have even remembered McKinsey. For me, Carmen Duncan was Iris. I would have been highly annoyed if Alexandra Spaulding had showed up as Iris during the show's last months (I was aware of McKinsey through GL and I'm not sure if I knew she had been Iris) rather than Duncan. Even as a child, I missed Duncan's Iris when they wrote her off in that ridiculous way.
I imagine a great many people would have had instant recognition of Bev.
But, then, frankly, Goutman was weird at the end in at least one way. He said over & over that we weren't going to do nostalgia in the last month or in the finale & then he did the gorilla/kidnapping of the groom that harkened specifically back to the gorilla of Cass/Felicia/Wally's high jinks time & possibly also to before that when Cecile had Cass kidnapped & kept him prison on Tanquir. Although Carolyn Culliton tweeted that it was Gary Tomlin & Sam Ratcliffe who came up with the gorilla for the finale. Ratcliffe was known for being the writer of a lot of AW comedy. I had asked her what she thought of being symbolically represented by a gorilla for all time. She said she "effin hated" it. But, that Gary's godfather to her oldest & she loved Sam so it was okay. That was when she revealed that she & Richard retired in April.
I agree that the way they had Carmen's Iris rot in jail was not desirable. I thought she did a good job as Iris, but, I mean, no one could have bested Beverlee's interpretation. May they both rest in peace.

You haven’t missed anything importance. Willow is still dying for god’s sake.
July 1st, 2022, a year ago, posts about that days' soaps just came up for me. Willow, I kid you not, it was the first time she fainted. A whole year's gone by with this atrociously done leukemia storyline.
2 hours ago, Darn said:And now they are destroying Trina and Spencer before they even got started. All in an effort to keep Esme around? Who is a far less interesting character now that she has amnesia. She’s not a good person or bad person, she’s just there.
Everything they've done since Laura & Kevin left them alone in the apartment has just screamed wrong to me!
NEddie, I just don't think they've thought it out & I hate that plaid flannel shirt. And they must not be planning to bring Rena in because they didn't have her in the studio yet & they're off all month now. No Lois = mistake.
About Gregory, Finn & Austin & Austin's awful cousin Mason, agree 100%. I want them off the show. I feel sorry for NLG, for Maura & most of all for Becky who has put up with this guy for 2 years.

The reason I think he's burnt out and/or lazy is because he continually uses the same ideas and stories in every show he's written. He uses the same tropes again and again and again. Perhaps he's not lazy and just not creative at all? Lol. There has also been a steep decline in his writing for Days since he started. I think RC was very good his first year on Days and has run out of steam. Again, it's the same issue he had at OLTL and GH. So while I don't know him personally and don't know if he's truly lazy or dismissive there is a very clear pattern of behavior that he follows with any show he headwrites. He also seems to be very defensive and highly sensitive to criticism. I don't think Ron is actively tanking Days, but I also don't think he's super motivated to create good storytelling either. I think Ron just basically coasts along doing the bare minimum to keep his job.
Ron only has his IG acct now. So, he is much less in contact with fans online. Sure you can leave a message on Instagram but it's not like the back & forth communication of Facebook, or Twitter, or CoSo, or Mastodon, or Post Or plurk, anyway it's very different. When he was on Twitter I thought he had really thin skin, too defensive to be out there. And, the rest of what you're saying about him is what I hear all over from many different people. We call it burn out but perhaps with him, he is only seriously interested in a show when it is brand new to him. And, then he is no longer "galvanized" about it. Just a theory. I was shocked when he posted his missive about being fired from GH at what a level of passion he has for that show. Clearly he does NOT have that kind of passion for DAYS.
I thought he put together a good writing team & included 4 African-Americans & 3 long-time veterans & some young new people. Now those first 7 are gone & new we have Al Alaar's wife (?) & Fran Newman's son (?).
Today's show: Good seeing Lani. And I appreciate her being suspicious. Naturally Kate's a hoot as Lorna DeLorean on "Body & Soul" but Marlena & Kayla were more fun. Having the actor who played young Theo be in the soap within a soap was clever. I hate not knowing anything about Megan's condition but the show does not update every story every day. Overall today was a good DAYS. No Alex, Leo, Gwen, Coltin, ... their absence makes the soap fan fonder!

The tribute episode with Beth Ehlers as Irna Phillips was the standout.
The episode with Harley as the super heroine (with electrical powers), The Guiding Light, was just silly.
I gave em credit for trying new things.
Yes, the "radio show" episode was truly iconic & Beth as Irna was possibly the highest of many high spots.
But, the Marvel/GL "mash-up" also had costumes designed by Shawn Reeves, GL Costume Designer involved with it. (He was also at AW & now is at GH.) Now, of course, I can't find any pix of anything but the Beth Ehlers character. Dadgum. I remember seeing the drawings at the time & then the finished product & they were cool costumes.

Michael, I find that all the time I miss both AW & GL. It just is what it is. 🤔🙄😢

I agree that use of personnel is one of DAYS major problems.
I've been dreading today since Miranda tweeted that it was her last day. But, I did find the way they had her go delightful. I hope they bring her back.
