Eccleston always deserved a lot more credit than he’s gotten.
I liked Tennant, but preferred the overall direction the show seemed to heading with Eccleston. By the time Smith took over, it was too late to course correct the overwhelming focus on the Doctor as an object of romantic affection.
I find less and less to like about RTD with each rewatch. He was incredibly self-indulgent. Moffat was as well, but I thought he hid it a lot better until he lost Amy and Rory, his first Companions.
I liked Eccleston & was entirely suspicious that they ran him off. Tennant was my favorite. Happy with him with Rose & Mickey. Happy with him with Martha. Liked Matt. Liked Amy Pond & Rory. Adore Alex Kingston. Liked the new female Doctor. Just didn't want them to go on hiatus!

Just got back home. I loved FosseVerdon & in watching it I concluded that Michelle Williams was in effect channeling Gwen Verdon. Michelle Williams is very talented. I saw a little flick on Amazon Prime that I think was named Snapshots. Also on Amazon Prime I watched Vita & Virginia. I guess I watched it on HBO subscribed through Amazon Prime: Gentleman Jack, which was cheated out of an Emmy.

I've heard about for years. I'm so glad somebody finally posted it.
Me, too!
4 hours ago, AbcNbc247 said:You're welcome. And yes, it was Margaret DePriest, co-writing with Sheri Anderson. It seemed MD was a big fan of serial killer storylines.
Oh, yeah. MdP was really into serial killers and rapists! First at DOOL & then at AW.
4 hours ago, AbcNbc247 said:Well, I'm pretty sure Days was the first to do a mask storyline, so you did got to give a shout out to Ron for mining that history. But yeah, the whole idea is pretty stupid lol. I know all soaps insult viewers intelligence but a mask storyline definitely takes it too far.
I wish more of Renee and the triangle were available to see.
Yes, I wish we had more of Renee with them.

Um, that's uh, Megan & Renee, right?
1 hour ago, AbcNbc247 said:Some regimes were more concerned with creating new characters who turn out to be Stefano's long lost children.
I always felt like EJ should have been Renee's long lost son.
That would have made for an interesting EJ. And, for the most part I found EJ to be bor-ing.

It's insane but I guess it's a testament to her skills that she can still evoke strong responses after all these years. She and Bill were actually on a hit list (with Jane Fonda and some others) in the 80s. The guy was arrested before he got to California.
She definitely has some mad skills!

Not all. Just the Gabi and Stefan stans, lol. Some of the idiots have wished for SSH herself to die though.
Sweet Jesus! Fans who want Susan Seaforth Hayes to die?!!!! I can't take that.

Taking Lives with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke.
It was pretty good and had some nice twists.
Or.........
Post what song you're currently listening to and whether others should check it out!
The past several movies I've seen, in the theatre: A Star is Born with Lady Gaga, wonderful! and then, Bohemian Rhapsody also wonderful. After that I have a streaming list. About to have company, will post that list after.

Anna Stuart's last scene being wheeled away on a gurney ( I think) was when the three pillows were grabbed. I thought Anna said later in interviews that it was something that she had just done and was nothing to do with the script. I thought she said she didn't realize it would cause such a stir. I may be wrong...but I don't think the "pillow scene" was ever intended, but yes, the show's writing was heading down the path that Scott would turn out to be Donna's child and then Anna decided to leave. I think it was changed after that.
Yes, Philece was not a good choice to take over for Donna but her portrayal of a cold Renee was great! I wish we could have seen more how Renee would have interacted with Stefano. She could have been the Kristen-type before Kristen.
I did not know that about Anna just grabbing the pillows!
Agree about wishing we'd gotten more of Philece with Stefano.

Days is trash!! I didn't bother seeing what they did to Stefan.
Viewers are actually wanting Julie to die and Stefan to live. That's how much Julie is hated and Brandon Barash is loved.
If people are really wanting Julie to die, that makes me ill.

It was the show's choice to kill Renee. Philece Sampler had not planned on leaving. I LOVED Renee because she could be so devilish at times and a true DiMera. I agree that the Renee/Tony/Anna triangle should have gone on for years. It was a great triangle.
Who wrote that serial killer? Margaret De Priest?
I thought Philece was a very good actor on DOOL, which is somewhat odd because I didn't find her at all satisfactory on AW. She just couldn't live up to Anna Stuart's Donna Love Hudson! And, she was too young. That was when they did the story that intimated that she'd been with John Hudson, not Michael. And, they'd had her hold 3 pillows intimating that she'd had triplets. Adding Scott Lasalle to the mix of Vicky & Marley. I guess we have to blame the writing for a good bit of that.
Anyway, @AbcNbc247thanks for finding that clip. That was great viewing!

This is a very interesting discussion which I wish I had come across earlier. comedian/writer Paul Mooney posted this on his social media and I'm in the process of watching this.
When the topic turned to the audience for daytime TV and how much of that audience is made of Black Americans, then led to the question of why blacks do not have more of an imprint (other than Oprah/talk show) on the daytime television landscape, my thoughts immediately went to the daytime network soaps and the problems we've been discussing on this board about the dearth of truly compelling stories with impact for black characters overall on the daytime soaps. On the supposedly #1 daytime drama, it is particularly abysmal and has been so for years now.
Anyway, Ms. Carroll is a delight here.
Also, I know that Wayne Brady is not a favorite person on this board, lol, but he's really good (so far) moderating this discussion.
I've just gotta tuck this here for later. I don't want to lose it.
I haven't heard the last 2 clips yet, having no headphones on for now. But, it reminds me of Irna & Pete Lemay. One of the first things Irna told him was that you could not put a black person at a table in a cafe or cafeteria with a white person there with them. Why? Supposedly, because the viewer would change the channel to another soap. The same rational was what was given to prevent Lemay from doing his gay storyline with Michael, the male twin, of Michael & Maryanne. Nope, couldn't do it. The viewer might change over to General Hospital. P&G and Irna were just so short-sighted.

Did she seem particularly articulate? A really smart dame, with critical thinking skills? I have this image of her in my head. Of course, that just may be from her in interviews.

Here it is, everybody. Renee's Swan Song! I can't tall you how long I've wanted to see this scene.
Oh, gosh, my computer headphones are detached & I can't see this till later when I can get them hooked back up. And, they're in such bad shape I may want to go get a replacement pair, even though we have far too much to do today, already!

My favorite part today was when Julie asked Doug whether she had been a good wife. I teared up at that because I felt it was also Susan asking Bill.
Oh, wow.

So the pot doughnuts made a comeback.
I did love the Doug and Julie scenes though
Wait. We had pot doughnuts? I watched all of today and all live and I missed that. But, I do swear and declare that they made me think Julie had just died. Really shook me. Doug and Julie cannot die! I won't have it.
But, yes, their scenes were great. Best of all week. I continue to commend SSH for letting them make her look so bad! Not all actresses will do it.

And no, lol, the Salem Stalker deaths were not always planned to be reversed. It was permanent until fans complained and Corday freaked out. Anything else is a cover story. I believe Reid even said once, 'bullshít, they fired me!'
Frances was very clear about it. And, she thought flat-out that the reason Reilly was starting with her first literally was because he did not like her!

Filmmaker Ava DuVernay paid tribute to the late icon.
“Diahann Carroll walked this earth for 84 years and broke ground with every footstep. An icon. One of the all-time greats. She blazed trails through dense forests and elegantly left diamonds along the path for the rest of us to follow. Extraordinary life. Thank you, Ms. Carroll,” DuVernay said.
Yee-es! Way to go, Ava DuVernay!

Well, hell, I absolutely hate and detest CBS All Access. They shouldn't be putting shows on CBS All Access. They should do away with CBS all Access.
