  1. This is the thing we should take with us forward. Trump is bad but it's his supporters who are the real threat to our democracy. Not the just the "working class" ones although they are pathetic enough in their own right but the rich ones who are willing to risk millions of our lives for tax cuts. It think we're also seeing that there's a real problem in the tech industry. Between Assange, Bannon, Thiel, the fact that Facebook and Twitter had no problem taking Russian money, the vicious sexism of the tech bros, etc... there's a really dangerous element woven all through a big part of our culture.
  2. I believe it. I think we will either bomb N. Korea or they will launch at us perhaps hitting Guam. This election showed me that nothing I took for granted about this country applies. We have a significant part of the population on both the right and left that simply wants to break shite and watch the world burn.
  3. There's no mechanism for "nullifying" our election. I don't know what that would even mean. This country did something stupid and awful. There's no undoing that. Our best hope is to basically move forward the way Germany did after the Nazis.
  4. That's nothing new. I used to work for an abortion rights group so I occasionally visited abortion clinics for work. I can't tell you how many times people protesting have come into clinics to get their own abortion then were right back out there protesting in a few weeks later. I went to one where a nurse said "Two of the women out there have been patients."
  5. The Berniacs are trying to change the narrative because Bernie is being dragged to hell for being bought and paid for by the NRA.His pro-gun votes are getting a lot of scrutiny right now.
  6. The Berners are desperate for a win and they love to take credit for other people's work.
  7. Whatever W's faults - and there were many - he wasn't a sociopath. Incompetent? Yes but he wasn't evil just for the hell of it. He's also done some good charity work since leaving office including coming out against Trump during the campaign.
  8. Yep. This is why I say that there's nothing wrong with ridiculing his voters. History will hold them in the same regard as it does the people who voted for the Nazis.
  9. I hope the next to go is Pruitt. He's obviously a lunatic and he's in a position to poison our air and water. Off topic: I just realized that I'm not seeing posts from this thread showing up in the "recent posts" side bar anymore. Nor posts from the Music & Movies thread. It looks like only the DTS forum shows up now. I'm grateful for that. It keep the trolls away from this thread and reduces the possibility of being accidentally spoiled just by visiting the home page.
  10. With the exception of Joan Walsh, most of the writers at The Nation are firmly ensconced in Bernie's colon right next to Dave Weigel, Chris Hayes and Bill Maher. And yes, the people who took Obama for granted and didn't fight to protect his legacy are the reason we are here today.
  11. Right now the Sandroids seem to be focused on clawing at Elizabeth Warren for some reason. I like Warren but after throwing shade at Obama for his paid speeches, I'm not exactly jumping to her defense.
  12. That's the sad truth. A lot of people think that once Donald is gone, everything will go back to "normal." Normal is gone.
  13. I'm seeing a lot of chatter saying that running Moore could very well hand the seat to the Democrat. Independents and moderate Repubs aren't interested in Moore and willeither stay home or cross over. Doug Jones is a really strong candidate. We can expect the AL senate race to turn into a redo of what the GA-06 House race was.
  14. The noose is tightening. Another Repub senator decides to throw in the towel and call it a day.
  15. Amy Klobuchar is a very smart woman who, if we had a functional government, would be one of the best people to write a bill to shore up the ACA. I saw a good explanation for why the owners got involved with the protests. White billionaires resent having another white billionaire* tell them how to run their business.
  16. I don't trust Ted Cruz a bit. I wonder what game he's playing.
  17. Sigh...yeah. Of all the stuff I'm seeing about Democrats, this is really worrying me.
  18. I'm wondering what exactly they were protesting. Is it Comey's interference in the election? Because I find it hard to believe all those kids where Hillary voters (or even voters at all but that's a separate subject). Do they resent him speaking at Howard at all? If so, I'd be interested in hearing why. Comey at least seems to be trying to make amends for helping to bring us here. He donated his whole yearly salary to a scholarship fund for foster kids.
  19. Ugh. I hate the tactic of shouting people down. I far preferred the protest of Betsy DeVos at Bethune Cookman where they walked out.
  20. I'm not going to relax until September 30th comes and goes. I wouldn't put it past these folks to try a midnight vote on 9/29. I learned during Obama's first term that the GOP doesn't negotiate in good faith. (Lawdy, how I wish Bamz had learned it earlier.)
  21. So that's the usual one? I was wondering because I couldn't remember blocking anyone with that username. Good to know.
  22. I think Kimmel is more heated because Cassidy used his sick kid as a prop. Cassidy crossed a line and Kimmel's not going to let it go.
  23. Kasich has pretty much hit the point where he has nothing left to lose. He's term limited here in Ohio which is kind of funny because if we didn't have term limits I think he could easily win re-election.
  24. Yep. This is why Bernie is utterly ineffective as a Senator. He simply doesn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about anything but his own ego. And to make things worse, he's off to California for a rally because Pop-Pop needs to hit the ATM.
  25. Yep. .
