    INT. SPRINGFIELD U - DAY - MEL'S CLASS

Mel stands by the open door handing out an assignment as the students leave.

Mel: Everyone have a good weekend. And these are your cases that you will be arguing on for the final. So be prepared.

Kevin, still by his desk, kneels down and grabs his backpack. Mel looks past the outgoing crowd onto Kevin.

    Mel: Kevin.

Kevin looks over at Mel, attentive.

Mel: Could you stay for a second so I can speak with you?

    Kevin nods his head.

Mel shows out the last student and closes the door.

    Mel: Come up here please.

Kevin comes down the stairs and approaches Mel's desk. Mel sits in her seat and opens a drawer to pull out Kevin's last test that reads "F." Kevin's eyes widen at the sight of the paper.

    Mel: What is going on?

    Kevin: I -- I can explain.

Mel: You better have a great one because I just don't see you making through the Spring semester if you aren't passing the first part of the intro class.

Kevin: I've just been really stressed out.

Mel: But why? Kevin, you've always been an A+ student since I've known you. This is definitely not you.

Kevin: Look, it just ONE measly F, OK?

Mel: But the rest of your grades are D's. Do you realize that you making a D in a core class for your major is still a fail and you have to take it over again.

Kevin: I'll fix it. You said that the debate is 50% of the grade -- right?

    Mel: Yes.

Kevin: Then if I make a one-hundred on the final then I'll come out with at least a solid C-.

Mel: But its very highly that you won't make a one-hundred. It's a rarity. The panel of attorneys that I've selected are going to critique everything you do, and since I've taught this class, no one has ever made no more than 90%.

Kevin: Then I'll be the exception.

    Mel: Kevin...

Mel grabs her mouth as she starts to dry heave. She leans down into the trash can and vomits. Kevin jumps back with worry.

Kevin: Ms. Boudreau, look if I offended you--

Mel puts up hand signaling him to stop talking. Mel takes a sip of water and pops a mint into her mouth.

Mel: No worries. It isn't you.

Kevin: ...Ms. Boudreau, are you sure?

Mel nods her head reassuringly. She grabs her purse and starts to dig inside it.

Kevin: Cuz if I didn't no any better, I'd say you were pregnant.

Mel snaps her head back at Kevin.

    Mel: How did you know?!

The doorbell rings and Reva comes into frame, heading to the door.

    Reva: I'm coming! I'm coming!

Reva opens the door and there stands Trista. Reva is taken back by her presence.

    Reva: Uh hello, Trista.

Trista: Hi, Mrs. O'Neill. I just stopped by to see if I dropped my locket here.

    And on Reva's blank expression

Of Reva examining the locket closely.

    Trista: (V.O.) Mrs. O'Neill!

    END QUICK FLASH

Reva shakes her head coming back to reality.

Reva: C'mon in. Let's see if we can find it.

Trista steps inside and Reva closes the door behind her.

Reva: Here, honey, hand me your jacket. I have the heater on.

Trista: OK. But I was only going to be a quick second.

Reva: Well no -- I mean why don't you join me for lunch? I was making some vegetable soup for me, Henry, and Colin, and I'd love for you to join us. That is unless you have somewhere to be?

Trista glances at her watch then looks back at Reva with a warm smile.

Trista: Nope. I'll join you and the babies.

Reva: Good. Now about that locket, let's get started on looking for it.

    Trista: OK.

Trista scurries off. Reva pulls the locket out her pocket as we see a shot of Rusty and Trista's mom (Laurel). Reva puts the locket back in pocket.

Reva: Now time to get to the bottom of this.

    INT. WSPR - DAY

The production staff set up the set as Alan Michael strides into the studio at a face pace with Hope struggling to keep up with him.

Hope: Alan Michael! Could you give me a second.

    AM: Nope.

    Hope: Scarecrow, wait!

Alan Michael stops dead in his tracks and turn back to face Hope. He looks as her with malice as he can't believe what she just said.

    AM: Did you just--

    Hope: Call you, Scarecrow? Yes.

AM: Ugh. I can't believe that you just called me my childhood nickname. No one can call me that but my mother.

Hope: I am! (sotto) I am...

AM: Nope. She died in that crash.

    Alan Michael walks off into

    ALAN MICHAEL'S OFFICE

where he slams his briefcase on the desk. He tosses his jacket on the chair when Hope graciously eases in. Alan Michael turns to notice her still following him.

AM: Can I please have a moment to breathe? Please?! Just back the hell off!

Hope slams the door and rushes up to Alan Michael where she puts her finger in his face, reprimanding him.

Hope: I don't give a damn if you are mad but you aren't going to disrespect me! Do you hear me?!

    STUDIO

Holly wears a smile that shines throughout the room. As she walks, the various staff members shout "Hello" or "Good day, Ms. Norris." Holly waves back as she comes to Alan Michael's door. She just about to knock when she hears shouting come from out the room.

AM: Respect?! You want respect? After all you did?

Holly quietly cracks the door open enough to hear as,

Hope: I AM YOUR MOTHER DAMMIT! You will respect me. You will respect me!

Holly slides in and slams the door gaining their attention.

AM: Holly? W-What do you want?

Holly: Mother? That is what I heard, right? Caroline is Hope?

And on AM burying his face in his palm and Hope in utter shock,

INT. REVA BEND – DAY – LIVING ROOM

Dinah sits at the computer going over stories for WSPR when we hear the door unlock to reveal Shayne entering with baby Henry. Dinah turns around from the computer to greet him with a smile.

Dinah: Hey you. How was the funeral?

Shayne: A mess. Surprised your mother has not called you and told you how Olivia reacted.

Dinah gets up with a look of concern. She takes Henry off his hands and kisses Shayne on the cheek. Meanwhile, Shayne hangs up their coats.

    Dinah: About what?

Shayne: The woman lost it. Marah showed up to bid Sam farewell and she called her a bitch and everything else in the book. I feel so bad for Marah and the poor Bauers. Enough about me though, how have you been?

Dinah: Stressing out. Getting ready for our big premiere. Holly has a lot of hope of getting WSPR back on the map with this relaunch.

Shayne: And I agree with Holly. I can only see huge success when it comes to you and Blake in a room having to work together.

Dinah: Yeah, whatever. I still don’t get why she even joined on as an anchor. I mean the woman has no likeability.

Shayne: (jokingly) And the same can be said you as well, Dinah. You’re no Mother Theresa yourself.

Dinah: (laughing) Oh really? (to Henry) You may want to tell your daddy to stop insulting before he becomes the first story on WSPR’s relaunch: “WSPR Anchor assaults her boyfriend.”

    Shayne takes Henry back.

Shayne: We’ll see about that. Now I am about to go and lie Henry down.

Shayne gives Dinah a love tap on her bottom.

Dinah: Shayne! In front of Henry.

Shayne shrugs his shoulders, smirking. Dinah laughs while rubbing her bottom.

    INT. WSPR NEWSROOM – DAY

Holly reads and marks up some of Blake’s stories with a red pen. Blake watches on not so thrilled by all her marks.

Holly: Nope. This is not going to work. Scrap that story.

Holly hands Blake the paper and Blake snatches it.

Blake: What is wrong with it, Mother?

Holly: It does not scream attention grabber. I mean who really cares about the Councilman’s wife wanting to do an interview about her husband’s many affairs.

Blake: It’s good TV. Nothing like a good, controversial affair to jump off ratings.

Holly: I said no. What don’t you get? The “I said,” or the “No.” It’s trash TV.

Blake: And? Mother, that equals ratings!

Holly: Ok. But that is the thing about WSPR, we have become nothing more than another news station reporting and glorifying martial affairs. I don’t want to give Councilman Reed anymore press than what he deserves.

Blake: Ok then what did you have in mind? Let me guess, something dealing with—

Holly: Political issues. If you wrote a story like Dinah did on Councilman Reed wanting to invest in bringing in casinos instead of the water and park restoration then I’d greenlight it. Other than that, who cares about him sexing some clueless broad who is hoping to snag him. The man needs no more negative press when it comes to his personal life.

    Blake: Why?

Reginald: (O.C) It’s elementary, babe. Bad publicity equals good publicity nowadays.

Blake and Holly turn around to see the steamy, breathtaking Reginald Wilson standing behind them. Blake, though tries to hide it, is taken back by his good looks. She likes what she sees.

Holly: (hugging him) Reginald! You finally arrived.

Reggie: I told you I’d arrive sooner or later.

Blake: (with attitude) Mother, who is this?

Holly: Reginald Wilson. You and Dinah’s male correspondent.

    Blake: Oh…

Reggie: And you must be Chrissy?

Blake: The name is Christina but I prefer Blake. No one called me Chrissy but my father.

    Reggie: Until now.

    Blake: Excuse us…uh, Reginald.

    Reginald: Go ahead.

    Blake pulls Holly aside.

    Blake: I hate him.

    Holly: You just met him.

Blake: So what. He does not fit the vision for WSPR.

Holly: Too bad. I’m the visionary of this show.

    Blake: Mother…Mother, I -- I swear I will quit.

Holly: Go ahead, Blake. You ought to know by now that emotional blackmail is not going to work with me. Didn’t when you were a child and isn’t going to now.

Reginald joins them, wrapping his arms around both of them.

Reggie: (to Blake) You’re not intimidated by me, are you?

Blake: (removing his arm) Nope. But I strongly advise that you wear a protective cup to work for now because I am going to hand you your—

    INT. LIMO – DAY

Dorrie: Balls. That is all I have to say, Mom. You have big ones to come back here and try another shot at Phillip. Have you even thought about Beth Raines?

India ignores Dorrie as she glances in her compact mirror adding blush to her face.

India: Who cares about Beth? She is no threat to me.

Dorrie: Is that so? Then if that is the case, you’d still be with Phillip now. But newsflash, Mother, YOU AREN’T!!

India: Dorrie, do you have to be such a downer?

Dorrie: I’m not a downer. I’m a realist. I see things for what they are. I am never going to let love -- well in your case, money, blind me.

India puts down the compact and faces off with Dorrie.

India: Money does blind me. It drives me. And love can take a backseat to money. You can’t take love to the bank, Dorrie.

Dorrie: (drops her face into her hands in embarrassment) Mother! Are you serious?

India: Could you for once, just once listen to what I have to tell you?

India hands Dorrie the book, HOW TO BE A SOCIAL CLIMBER.

India: Just read this and you’ll get it.

Dorrie takes the book as she rolls down the window. She then proceeds with tossing the book out the window.

    India: Dorrie!!

Dorrie: Mom, I am not reading that book again! It’s stupid.

India: You need that. I mean how can you land a rich man without having your manual, your mantra to guide you?

Dorrie: I have a walking, eating, and breathing manual sitting beside me. If I wanna learn from the best, I got you.

    India: (flattered) Why thank you.

The car comes to a screeching halt, flinging both of them forward. Dorrie and India scream.

Dorrie: Mom -- Mom are you ok?

India removes her hair from her face.

India: Yes, yes I am. (knocks on the window) Hey! Driver, what just happened there? Do you know who I am? I am India Von Halkein!

The Driver lets down the window and looks into the back.

Driver: And clearly you’re broke. You’re credit card was just denied. My boss, just called and told me to put you two out.

    India: What?!

Dorrie: Dear God, that is a sign. A sign I tell you! God is telling us to not head to Springfield.

INDIA: DORRIE, SHUT UP!!! (calmly, to driver) Now listen, Sir, there must be a mistake.

Driver: Afraid not. Now get out.

India: No. This is a mistake! A mistake I tell you! I refuse to get out!

The Driver gets out and makes his way towards the back. India locks the door to prevent him from getting in.

    Dorrie: What are you doing?

The Driver beats on the door.

    Driver: Open this door!

    India: (to driver) No!

Dorrie: Mom, this enough. Let him in.

Dorrie goes to unlock the door when India grabs her by the arm.

India: Don’t you even think about!!!!

Seeing the fire in India’s eyes causes Dorrie to sit back and shut up. India reaches forwards in the front seat and grabs the keys from the ignition.

The Driver comes back to the front of the car only to spot India locking his door as well.

Driver: Hey! You crazy lady, let me in!

India dangles the keys at him like a lion tamer dangling meat to a lion.

    India: Come and get them.

The Driver eyes the top of the car where the sun roof is open. India’s eyes meet at the sun roof also. They glance at each other for a second and then back at the sun roof. All of a sudden, the Driver dives on top of the car as India slides from the backseat into the driver seat. She starts the car and drives off, tossing the driver off the car.

Dorrie is flung back by her mother speeding.

Dorrie: MOTHER!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!

India: Taking care of business, baby. Taking care of business. Now put your seatbelt on. Mother hasn’t driven a car since 1986.

    Dorrie: WHAT?!!!

The car speeds off down the road.

Reva: I don't wanna hear it.

Olivia: Oh brother, spoken words from the "Great RevaShayne."

Reva: Look Olivia, I know you are in pain but so is Marah. She watched as Sam sacrificed himself to save her.

Olivia: Too bad. I don't want her here.

Reva: No sweetie, that is too bad for you. If she can't behere for Sam, she sure as hell can be here for the Bauers.

Olivia: (slowly starting to seethe) Reva, don't do this. Foronce put your foot down and get her to leave.

Vanessa: I -- I am just bewildered by this. You guys arereally moving back to Springfield?

Quint: Yep. We've been thinking this for some time. Beingaway from our family -- our true home, is what brought us back.

Vanessa: So glad to hear that. I so missed you, Quinton.

Nola clears her throat while stirring her tea.

    Vanessa: And you too, Nola.

    Nola: Thank you, Vanessa.

Vanessa and Nola shoot looks at each other as if they weredaggers. Though their feud is long over, the two women still can't resistannoying one another from time to time.

Quint opens his mouth to speak when,

Vanessa: Here of course! Where else would they stay? This isQuinton's home too.

    Matt: Vanessa, are you—

Vanessa: Sure? Yes. Very. (reaches across the table andgrabs Quint's hand) I want my brother here. In this house. Where my fatherintended it to be.

    Quint smiles at Vanessa's words.

Nola: Well I was hoping we'd move into Company.

Vanessa is taken back by this.

Vanessa: Nola, are you serious? Company?

Nola: What is wrong with Company?

    Vanessa: Well -- uh…see -- I

    Nola waits for an answer.

Vanessa: Oh come on, Nola. Why would you want to move backthere. The Coopers are there and so many other people.

    Nola: And Vanessa?

Vanessa: You are doing this on purpose.

    Nola: Am I really?

Vanessa: Yes! You've only been back for ten minutes now andyou are already starting.

Nola: (overlapping) I was just asking a simple question,Vanessa! No need to get angry! What is wrong with us boarding at Company?

Quint belts out a loud whistle ringing throughout the room.Everyone covers their ears.

Quinton: Ladies, enough. If we have to fight over where meand Nola will stay then we'll do it the old diplomatic way.

    Vanessa & Nola: How?

    Quinton pulls out a quarter.

    Quint: Flip a coin.

Vanessa: (chuckles) You must be joking?

    Quint: Nope. Nola, call it.

Quinton tosses the coin in the air.

Nola: Heads – no tails. I mean heads. Oh no, tails. Heads.Tails—

    Vanessa: Heads.

The coin falls on the table and its heads.

    Vanessa: Yes!

    Nola: Ugh.

Quint: It's settled. We are staying here.

    Vanessa: Goody.

Nola mocks Vanessa saying "goody." Nola is rather irritatedby this revelation.

Vanessa: I'll have Beauregard help you guys get settled inbut we (getting up from the couch) have to head to the church for the funeral. Youguys should come.

    Quint: I don't know.

INT. CHURCH – DAY – MINUTES LATER

The church filled with everyone. They all sit in their seatsas Reverend Rutledge approaches the altar and starts to speak.

    (play music over entire scene)

    http://www.youtube.c...h?v=-JtogUEdfLs

Rutledge: This is indeed a sad day for Springfield as wecelebrate the lives of five wonderful people. All having an impact on our livesin some sort of fashion…

    MOMENTS LATER

Ed is now at the altar.

Ed: What can I say about my brother, Mike. I can say he wasway more levelheaded than I ever hope to be.

    Everyone starts to laugh.

Ed: I will miss my brother. We fought over everything. Fromour mother's attention, to toys, to girls. Hell even wives. But through it all,I will always love my brother.

Ed tears up as he glances at his brother's coffin.

Ed: I will always love you, Mike. Tell mom, Maureen, andLeslie I said hello.

    Tears stream down Rick's face.

    MOMENTS LATER

    Now it's Rick's turn.

Rick: Aunt Trudy was such a hopeless romantic. And though Idid not get to spend much time with her, the time I did spend with her made meappreciate the relationships I did have and have taken for granted.

    MOMENTS LATER

Michelle is at the altar, hysterical.

Michelle: No one will ever replace Aunt Meta. That woman –that woman helped shaped me into everything I am now. When she first arrived Iwas so angry because she treated me like a child. It bothered me so much. Butovertime, I grew to love this woman. (smiling through tears) Oh and her belovedBruce. Though they had been divorced long before, the two continued to have agreat relationship. I remember Aunt Meta trying to play off Bruce calling heras if she hated it but she loved every second of it. (losing it again) Oh AuntMeta! I love you. I love you so much. May you join the other angels in Heaven.Kiss my mother for me…

    MOMENTS LATER

    It's Alan Michael turn.

Alan Michael: Even though my mom is presumed dead and herbody is still missing, we want to celebrate her life too.

Caroline (Hope) starts to squirm in her seat in guilt.

Alan Michael: My mom had it bad. She was a drunk and she hada string of bad relationships but ONE thing I can say about her was that shewas a damn good mother… (stifling his tears)…a good one. (looks up to the Heavens)Mom, if you can hear me, rest in peace. You no longer have to worry about me.

Caroline clutches her Bible close to heart as she fightsback her tears.

    MOMENTS LATER

Finally Olivia approaches the altar. She touches Sam'scasket and then look at Marah.

Reva: (whispering to Josh) Get ready…

    Josh nods his head, understanding.

Olivia: My brother -- my brother, Sam -- he, um…he was --(screw it) He would still be alive today if it wasn't for that ungrateful bitchright there!

Everyone in the church gasps as Olivia points at Marah.

    Ed: Michelle, give him time.

Danny: You were right, Ed. The FCC the plane had been tampered with.

Michelle: What? Are you kidding me? Someone planned this? Who would do something like this -- target Uncle Mike?

Ed: Sure it had something to do with the investigation on the mob activity in DC. (tosses his napkin on the table in rage) I told him not to get involved. I had a bad feeling from day one.

Rick: But Dad, that was Uncle Mike. You know he always had to do the right thing.

Ed: But it cost him his life.

Michelle: So what. I’d rather be left in the dark than you getting back involved with the mob. Let’s just leave it up to the FBI to figure it out.

Ed: She is right, Danny. We don’t need no more bad news no time soon. Let’s see what the FBI will do before we make drastic decisions like that.

Rick: This topic is going to have to take a back seat since we need to heading to church now. (he gets up) You guys go ahead to the car, I am going to pay the bill.

Rick whips out his Visa card and heads to the cashier. Ed, Michelle, and Danny excuse themselves heading to the elevator.

INT. JESSUP FARM – DAY – LIVING ROOM

Cassie opens the door to Reva, Josh, Baby Henry, and Shayne. She greets each one of them as they enter inside.

Cassie: Sorry everyone that we are running a little late. RJ refuses to wear the suit I picked for him.

Josh: Maybe I should go and help him?

Cassie: I wouldn’t even bother. RJ is a preteen now, I doubt he’ll even listen.

    Reva: We know about that.

They all laugh. Cassie leads them to the couches where they all have a seat.

Cassie: Did anyone want anything to eat? I cooked a nice breakfast this morning.

Reva: I don’t even think I can eat with this funeral.

Cassie takes Henry from Shayne and starts playing with him. A combination of weird faces and bouncing him on her knee.

Cassie: Weird, huh? I just can’t believe that Sam is dead. I just can’t. He was such a sweet boy.

Josh: And I can’t thank him enough for saving Marah.

Cassie: Neither can I. (looking around) Where is Marah?

Reva: She’s not coming. I told her it is best to steer clear from Olivia as long as she can.

Cassie: Reva, come on. I think that Marah should be there. She was friends with Sam, she even dated him at one point. She has every right to be there. And Sam would want her there.

Reva: We know that but it’s what OLIVIA wants. This is more like the Olivia show than anything. And I don’t know how much I can bear of her actions against Marah. Causing her to lose her job in Paris—

    Cassie: What!

Reva: So I guess your partner did not tell you? She has Marah fired La Bella. Guess she had friends in the higher ups.

    Cassie: Poor Marah.

Shayne: It is. I’m growing sick of her moping around the room like she’s dead.

Cassie: Then maybe Marah should start her own line.

Reva: We tried. She refuses to take money from any of us.

Cassie: Then what can we do?

Reva: I have no clue but we better come up with something quick. I don’t know how much longer I can take of her locking herself up in that room.

Cassie: We’ll figure something out. Is Jeffrey joining us?

Reva: He’s at the church with Olivia and Natalia. She needs him more than anything.

    Cassie: Is Ava coming?

    Shayne: She’s suppose to.

    Cassie: Good, good.

RJ slumps down the stairs and presents himself in front of everyone. He is not too eager about his outfit and slicked back hair.

Reva: RJ, you look so handsome!

    RJ: (dully) Thanks, Aunt Reva.

Reva grabs RJ by the arm, drawing him closer to her.

Reva: (pushing his head up) Hold your head up! You’re a Shayne. We never hold our heads down. We have too much spirit for that.

RJ lights up at his aunt’s encouraging words.

Reva: (standing up) Now come on here and let’s go get you something to eat.

Reva starts leads RJ into the kitchen.

    Cassie: Thanks, Reva.

    Reva: No problem, sis.

Reva & RJ exit into the kitchen.

    Josh; That’s RJ for you.

Cassie: Hasn’t changed a bit. (to Shayne) So what have you been up to?

    Shayne: Nothing much.

Cassie: Yeah right. I heard that Ed wants to join the staff at Cedars due to your work you did in the Peace Corps. Whoever would’ve thought that Shayne Lewis would be a doctor?

Shayne: (smiling) Who says I was going to take it.

Cassie: You better! You’re smart, a good people’s person, and easy on the eyes. I am sure many women in Springfield would love for you to treat them. And again, this would be good for you to put your Peace Corps work to good use. You didn’t go over there for 3-4 years for nothing. Use those skills for the greater good.

    The doorbell rings.

    Cassie: Excuse me.

Cassie gets up, holding Henry still, and head to the door.

    Cassie: Who is it?

    Frank: (O.C.) Frank.

Cassie opens the door to Frank. Frank is impressed at the sight of her holding the baby.

Frank: (playing baby Henry) Well aren’t you lucky to have such a beautiful woman hold you, Grandson. Must be the Cooper gene.

Cassie blushes. She and Frank stare deep, longing into each other eyes.

    INT. CHURCH – DAY

Olivia directs the ushers on where to place memorabilia of the deceased throughout the church. Natalia and Jeffrey sit in a pew nearby, watching.

Olivia: I don’t want that picture of my brother there, put it over there...

Usher #1 is done as he is told and moves the picture where Olivia points out.

Olivia: (to Usher #2) Don’t put the flower like that! They go like this. (she walks up and arranges some of the flowers)...See what I am saying.

    Usher #2: Yes Ms. Spencer.

Olivia: Good. Now do the rest like that.

Jeffrey: Someone is acting like a Nazi today.

Natalia: And you see that I am just going to steer clear from her until the funeral.

Usher #3 walks out the back with candles in his hands, sending Olivia over the edge.

Olivia: (to Usher #3) My God these are not the candles I asked for! These are cheap! (she snatches them from him and tossed them on the floor) I want good wax candles! Not that crap from the dollar store! This is funeral! Not some backwoods family reunion! Can anyone get one thing right?!

    Jeffrey: That’s our cue.

Jeffrey and Natalia grab Olivia, leading her to the lobby.

Natalia: Enough, Olivia. These men are doing just fine. They are here to help.

Olivia: No, what they are doing is trying to put on a circus. Without my direction—

Jeffrey: The funeral would still be good. You are over thinking and over working yourself.

Olivia: (breaks free of their grip and turns to them) NO I AM NOT! CAN I JUST THROUGH—

    Natalia: Inside voice.

Olivia: (calming down) Can I just through a nice funeral for my brother.

Jeffrey: The thing is that this isn’t just your brother’s funeral. The ceremony is also shared by the Bauers too. You keep forgetting that.

Olivia: …You’re right. I apologize. I’m a wrong as always. (getting emotional) Excuse me for trying to give Sam something nice and special! Excuse—

The door to the church open and wobbling in on her crutches is Marah.

    And on Olivia’s utter disbelief,

All eyes are on Alan as he stands before the court.

Judge: Mr. Spaulding, so you're saying your son never embezzled money from the company?
Alan: Uhh...yes. I was the one who made it look like he did.
Judge: And why is that Mr. Spaulding? -- Let me take a guess, to punish him?
    Alan: To spare him.
Judge: From what? He seems to be a pretty level headed man in my opinion. Unlike his father...
    Alan: Judge DuBois--
Judge: Shut your mouth! I am the only to speak. Not you.
    Alan: Yes, your Honor.
Judge: It's rich people like you that think you can manipulate the system and people's lives. You should be ashamed! Do you hear me?!

Alan nods his head in agreement.

Judge: Mr. Spaulding, I ought to charge you for embezzlement and fraudulent crimes. (to A-M) Do you wanna press charges?

Rick cheers in the background until Mel gestures for him to be quiet. Alan turns white in fear. Then, Alan Michael stands up.

A-M: I don't want to press charges against him.

Everyone is stunned again by this revelation except for Judge DuBois, who is impressed.

Judge: Good. Glad to see you are nothing like your father. You must take after your mother.

Caroline slightly grins at the sound of this.

Judge: (to A-M) Today is your lucky day. I am going to award you not only your freedom but a haven as well. Mr. Tyrant aka your daddy, will provide you with a home until you can pick yourself back up and regain your stability.
    Alan: You can't do that!
Judge: THE HELL I CAN! This is my courtroom. (pointing her gavel at Alan in a threatening tone) Let me catch you back in here and I swear, your going to jail. I'm going to have to show you I ain't the one! You better not even step foot in here and let me catch you or I swear--(in a rage) Get out of my courtroom before I step down from this bench and do something I regret!

    Alan walks out the courtroom:

Judge: (to Bailiff) Don't let him back in here. (to everyone) Court is adjourned.

The crowd exits out the entrance. Alan Michael hugs Mel and they are then joined by Rick and Ed.

Reva: (jokingly) I beg to differ. I was small and petit.

    Hawk: Oh whatever, sister.

    They all share a laugh.

Rusty: So where did Jeffrey go?

    Reva: Who cares. I don’t.

    Reva: Nothing.

    Reva: Daddy!

Hawk: Well fine. I won’t ask you anymore.

Reva: Good. Let’s drop it. We have better things to talk about beside Jeffrey.

Rusty: Like you getting your old job back at Lewis Construction?

Reva: (pouring coffee in their mugs) How did you know about that? Did Joshua call you and tell you?

    Rusty: No, Billy did.

Reva: That ole loud mouth. I wanted to share the news with you all.

Hawk: Who cares? I wanna know why you and Jeffrey are going at it and I wanna know now!

Hawk: Well that is thing…I don’t take the hint. When I wanna know something, I get to the bottom of it and Reva – you should understand that all the meddling you do.

    INT. SPRINGFIELD U – DAY - NEWSROOM

Trista approaches a door that reads “THE COUGAR TELEGRAPH.” She opens the door to enter inside the school newspaper office where her fellow peers work about on the paper.

James stands at the helm of the room overlooking everything and quickly notices Trista sliding into the room.

    James: You’re late, Tucker.

    Trista: By a minute!

James: And a lot can happen in a minute. Now you whined about me letting you get onto the staff and you can’t even do a single thing such as showing up on time?

Trista: Someone is being very melodramatic…

James: Call it what you want but I want our school to lead other schools in the state when it comes to the news. Apparently you don’t have the same drive.

    Trista: I do.

James: Then why are you late?

Trista: I had to help a friend?

    James: Who? Rocky? That boy—

Trista: Oh shut up. It wasn’t Rocky. It was Kevin.

    James: Kevin? Kevin Marler?

Trista: Yes, Kevin Marler. You know the guy who happens to be your cousin.

James: I know that. But what is wrong with Kevin?

    Trista: He wouldn’t tell me.

James: Then there was probably no problem. See if you had that initiative to figure out what is wrong with your friends and aim that at the paper—

    Trista: Oh shut up, James.

Trista walks away from James to her station where she flicks on her computer.

James: You know you are going to pay for this.

Trista: You running your mouth and barking out orders is punishment enough.

James: That is not what I am talking about.

James reaches over and grabs a big mail sack and tosses it on Trista’s desk. Trista’s jaw drop because she knows that James is about to do.

Trista: YOU’RE DEMOTING ME TO THE ADVICE COLUMN?!

James: As editor of this paper it is my duty to demote anyone that gets out of line and done not pull their slack – so yes if that answers your question. I am demoting you. Have funny, Trista – or should I say Abby?

James walks off laughing but Trista is not going to stand for this. She chases after him.

Trista: Why? Why are you doing this to me? I should tell Daisy!

James: Tell her. Not like she’s going to change my opinion on this. You’re doing the advice column and that is it. Deal with it.

Trista slams her fists on the table.

Trista: No! Oh no! I’m one of the best damn reporters on the staff. Better than you might I add.

    James: Oh really?

Trista: Really! We all know you only got appointed to the position because you’re granddad sits on the school board. Everyone knows that a SENIOR should be editor. Not a freshman.

James: My granddad had nothing to do with me getting this position.

Trista: Oh please. You can fool Daisy with that drivel you spit out but not me. Not Trista Tucker!

    James: Get to work.

    James sits at his desk.

Trista: Fine. I’ll do the damn advice column, James, just to show you that I am not only a better writer than you but versatile as well.

    James: Good. Then do it.

Trista storms off. Scott, James’ friend and fellow journalist advances toward him.

    Scott: Here you go.

Scott hands James his article. James snatches it.

James: She has the nerve—did you hear her allegations? My granddad helped me get on this paper. Get real?

    Scott: James…

    James: What?

Scott: Now we have been friends since we went to Lincoln Prep together and I have been nothing but honest with you, right?

James: Where are you going with this?

Scott: I think you like her.

James: (buried in the article) Who?

    Scott: Trista.

James shoots a menacingly look at Scott.

    James: Are you on crack?

Scott: No…Just calling things the way I see it.

James hands Scott back his article. Scott walks away leaving James, uncomfortable.

    James: Me? Like Tucker?

James looks over in Tirsta’s direction. Trista, not noticing James watching her, pours the bag of mail on her station. The mass of mail causes her to moan.

    James: …Nah.

James looks back at Trista and forms a smile on his face. A loving smile.
