I thought, who is this chic Latina in my IG feed?
Meanwhile, Cirstea beats Madison, yet I’ve heard zilch about any disciplinary actions against her for putting hands on an official, aside from this unconfirmed report. But journalists will only press the issue around big names who will get them clicks and $$$$.

Ron tried to do the atmospheric thing with Abby/Gabby, but it was such a snooze and often laughable.
Reilly’s DOOL was so weird because they could give Vivian and Kate such witty, marvelous lines (at least from what I remember), but everyone else sounded like they were in elementary school. He was also into that Seinfeldian repetition of phrases. Like Austin’s “I love you, Carrie, and I’m going to spend the rest of my life showing you how much.” I might have heard that line 50 times.

I wouldn't want to be a soap writer because fans are so passionate and insane. You couple that with the work load and network higher ups, and you have the worst writing gig in the entertainment industry. I try to keep that in mind before I criticize a head writer too much, but lately Days has become so incredibly terrible that it's impossible to stop myself.
Plus, working in a genre that has zero respect and didn’t even really have it when it was at its creative peak. You do really have to love it, it seems. Just a thankless job really, even when it was more lucrative, and burnout can happen so fast. Really makes you appreciate the dedication and seemingly endless creativity of the greats, who still had their share of rough patches and blunders.

We see it as lazy writing, but I wonder if Ron legit pitched his repetitive tropes as a formula for success to NBC/Sony/Corday. Like “I can do for DAYS what I did for OLTL/GH” and presented his list “From doppelgängers to masks.”

Apparently the press were trying to goad Roger into some juicy statement about trying to reinstate Kermode, etc., and he didn’t take the bait.

Piggybacking on this ongoing discussion of streamers, I read this blog post and now I understand why there are some holdouts in the public library system in regards to Kanopy. The cost may be prohibitive to quite a number of library systems.
I hadn’t looked into the economics of Kanopy, and yikes. NYCPL users get 10 streams a month, which is great, but that’s from the biggest public library system in the country.

I dig the Brazilian divas—Elis Regina, Daniela Mercury, Adriana Calcanhoto. And especially Marisa Monte. This is just gorgeous.

Forgive me if this has been posted, but I stumbled upon this 1956 TV clip of Helen Gallagher singing and dancing years before her Sweet Charity Tony nomination. Too bad the video quality gets a bit dodgy when she really starts breaking it down.

Morrow and Heinle must test well, or they feel they’ve invested too much in them as leads/Newman scions to make any changes. The show is hamstrung by their deficiencies. It’s like Y&R is fine walking with a painful, debilitating limp instead of splurging on the expensive surgery that would fix the issue.

Yeah, I think LML found ranch-bound Nikki deeply retrograde and un-feminist. As fond as I am of MTS, and I’ll defend her as an actress without question, I too thought Nikki was getting a bit stale around that era, so she needed a jump start. Turning her a Hillary-clone senate candidate, complete with Hill hair, was a bit jarring, but she was game. I loved her little bitchy scenes with MS/Phyllis around that time.

LMAO at this Medvedev gif (after the Tsitsipas match at USO when his camp wasn’t cheering enough to his liking). He’s hilarious.
