I was just watching Tick Tick Boom, the Netflix movie featuring Andrew Garfield as Jonathan Larson. Bradley Whitford pops up in a small role as Sondheim, and I was sorta marveling that the real-life Sondheim was still with us. So sad that we’ve lost him.

I’m actually somewhat impressed at how consistent Stevie Wonder has been on these lists. His run of hits from the ‘60s to the mid-‘70s is impeccable. Yet I don’t think the man has gotten his full due in the greater culture, and I hope it doesn’t take his passing for that to happen. There aren’t the books, the documentaries, the feature films, etc. one would expect for an artist of his stature. He’s super respected but almost taken for granted.

This show is SO poorly produced these days. They had so much filler during the finale, including a long clip package at the end, that they nearly ran out of time before Tyra even announced the winners. (They were running the end credits before she opened the envelope, then the mirrorball trophy was all the way across the stage. Tyra was like, “Oh wait, I need to give them the trophy!” ABC cut to The Good Doctor before that even happened.
)
