I am not sure if the Ted and Tad thing was Agnes's idea. Only because I remember reading the first storyline McTavish pitched and had a hand in was the whole Trevor marrying Janet while Natalie was trapped in a well story. Then again, Agnes was still listed as HW at that time. I think Tad's initial return from the dead the first few months and the building to him and Dixie seeing each other was well written, but then somewhere around that spring or summer it became really dumbed down, and their subsequent romantic reunion that fall was lackluster by comparison. Ted Orisini never seemed fleshed out beyond a point point.

I definitely think MB has a big ego, but it doesn't seem like it's an issue with many of his co-stars. Outside of a few things he admits everyone seems to like him fine? If Vanessa, Kim, Chad, etc are good with it, then why should we care? I am not condoning bad behavior or anything, but it seems like they all good friends. MB probably does think he's awesome, but people and the press treat him like he's Brando.
I wonder if MB would reach out to old co-stars on AMC. He seems to bring on guests he is still in touch with or close with. Is he close with any former AMC co star?
MB did say on twitter he'd like to have Michael Knight and Cady McClain on his show.

Megan loved borrowing from herself. As said, she was going to redo Fake-will/Janet with Maria (after her death).
I also learned that the Mardi Gras explosion was borrowed from her idea of Janet blowing up the courthouse during Laurel/Trevor's marriage (but that was scrapped due to the Oklahoma City bombings).
Oh, she was mad that the focus groups hated Kelsey and they hated 'soft' Janet. She was going to turn Kelsey into a Janet but, evidently, that was changed. She stated that hating a character was better than indifference.
interesting. I just always assumed McTavish got rid of Kelsey cause she was more of a Broderick creation. They watered Kelsey a lot by the end compared to the schemer she had been. I do remember McTavish was asked in an interview why Trevor and Janet didn't have much of a story during that time, and she snapped that there wasn't a lot she could do with a 'nice' Janet. Eventually she did give them that story where Harold died.
I guess she wanted to phase out Gillian elsewhere if she wanted Kendall for Ryan. And interesting that when Agnes came on she decided to make David's brother Leo rather than Ryan if those were the original laid out plans. Leo was actual similar in a way to Ryan was in the beginning, a con artist. Also, for someone who thought Dimitri was Erica's soulmate, she didn't have them much together during her whole second run.
Do you know who's idea it was to bring back Anton and put him in a triangle with Dimitri/Brooke? was that a Broderick idea from before she left or something else?
Interesting about Scott and Becca, I thought McTavish was phased out by the time they came along.
Thanks for the info. Interesting read.

.@allmc2008 Wow! i never knew that. It's even worse than the trash that aired. Very dark and cringey. What i remember from that time. Was Gillian & Ryan going on the run. Which felt like an eternity. And MM trying desperately to make Kit and Edmund happen. I also remember how bad Nan Martin's son was. He clearly didn't inherit his mother's acting talent.
It sounds a lot like a reiteration of the whole Dimitri/Kendall/Anton story. Kendall slept with Anton and accused Dimitri of rape. The DNA was similar enough to Dimitri's that Erica believed it and stabbed him with a letter opener.

Does anyone know where the 1980/1981 episodes went? They were on Youtube but seemed to have vanished. Perhaps on another site?
Those were on BlueRose's channel, which got deleted in the purge this past fall. Some of them were saved on archive

Since the Sean D. tribute is on GH this week, that reminds me. Was it ever the plan for Felicia to be Sean's daughter? It seemed they might of been going in that direction early on when he was after the Aztec treasure that was a part of Felicia's family legacy, but then ended up not going there after all.

Esta was let go because either Angela Shapiro or Felicia Behr didn't like her. Not sure which -- the reporting at the time was just that an ABC Daytime exec didn't like her. And TPTB were hoping that killing Gillian would help convince Cameron, who was complaining a lot at the time about his lack of airtime and making noise about leaving, to re-sign. He only extended for six months.
This lines up with an old interview I read with Cameron. He said after the Ryan/Hayley storyline was aborted, he never got the same amount of airtime again during his first run on the show. I do remember one of the magazines at the time said there were rumors someone BTS didn't care for her, but they didn't name names. Jean Passanante seem to brush off in an interview about the idea of reuniting them (Ryan/Gillian) when asked about it around the time of Ryan/Hayley.

But in the final air shows, Esta appears for maybe 90 seconds, maybe a little more, maybe a little less and has a max of maybe three to five lines. She appears considerably less than any of the other undead or ghost characters who returned that summer in 2011. It looked to me a lot like they'd cut huge swaths of any material she shot - like Josh Duhamel, where I believe Leo was supposed to actually be alive and reunite with Greenlee in the original plan which supposedly may have actually been filmed, until Prospect Park first stepped in, they thought they were going online right then and didn't want to write permanent happy endings for Greenlee or Ryan with other people to write them out bc they didn't know if Budig and Cameron would sign onto the new show. So then Leo's appearance became a dream and they cut the rest of his material. I've long wondered if that is what happened with Esta/Gillian and Ryan as well.
What I remember reading at the time was that Cameron was the one that proposed they bring back Gillian as a ghost for Ryan like they had brought Leo for Greenlee. Originally they told him no, but decided last minute to add her. Cameron talked about it in a facebook post at the time we were lucky to get her at all.

AMC Demon seed Kathy Martin in 2008. I liked the route they were taking her, it felt fresh, interesting and fun. Definitely could have opened up some character driven for the entire Martin to play.
This reminds me, wasn't the original plan going to be that Emma was actually Kate? I thought I read that somewhere.

In that same breath, from what I understand Wendy Riche was removed as GH EP? Why was this after she brought General Hospital significant acclaim and awards in the 90s?
Bob Guza left toward the end of 2000 because he supposedly got fed up with not being able to tell his stories without interference. Wendy got the blamed and she was fired too a couple months later. That's why when Bob Guza returned in 2002, he negotiated in his contract that he would have an executive producer credit as well so he would have more power.
The other rumor was that Jill Farren Phelps had a contract at ABC, and Felicia Behr couldn't stand her and wanted her out of the New York soaps (she oversaw the NY ABC soaps at the time.) That was just a rumor at the time, I'm not sure the truth in it.

Taylor - played by the feisty, charismatic Ingrid Rogers - should’ve lasted longer.
I would’ve written the hell outta that character.
Was she fired (I know they had the recast) or did she leave??
If she was fired, I would like to know why.
I read on the old usenet groups that it was AMC's choice to recast. I don't know how accurate they are, but that is what I read. Munecojim's channel use to have all of the first half of 1995 on YT, and it was clear they were shifting the direction of the character as a foil for the Noah/Julia story even toward the end of IR's run by making her more obsessive.
Truthfully, I am not sure McTavish really 100% got the character. It never made sense to me that Taylor went from this snooty, country club, daddy's girl type to being a cop. Although, her going undercover as a white woman to expose a white supremist group was an interesting story.
