Daytime actors don't get more porn-tastic than Don Diamont circa 1985. I seriously thought for a moment there he was going to take off his cut offs before diving into the Abbotts' pool. And forgive me, because I know he's dead and all, but Terry Lester can send a limo to my house any day of the week. I'm not kidding.

That figures, since YSV is what TS song aspires to be. But even THAT song never comes across as harshly as TS' stuff does. It's a shame record producer Richard Perry is ill with Parkinson's Disease and likely retired from the industry. If anyone could help Tay-Tay transition at this period in her career into a broader musical genre without turning her into Britney-lite, it's he. As good as Carly's previous efforts were, it was Perry who was largely responsible for the "sound" that defines her to this day.

Probably not. Unless she makes a conscious choice to pull away from the spotlight and lead a quieter, more normal life, the well of personal experience from which she draws, which was never deep to begin with, will become bone dry. And I'm just going to cut the rest and leave it there.

No offense, Toups, but your analysis of the song is deeper than the song itself.

Tay-Tay does seem to possess a bit of a persecution complex. It's like when she told Seth Meyers on "Late Night" how she keeps a mental list of everyone who is genuinely nice to her. You don't need to do that unless you are someone who went through school being the subject of everyone's jokes and insults. Believe me. It's funny, TS says she is a fan of Joni Mitchell's, but do you know who she REALLY reminds me of? Carly Simon. She, too, had this desire to set to lyrics and music the ups and downs of her relationships. The big difference, however, is that Carly is a more sophisticated lyricist than Tay and she has managed to part on good terms with most of the men in her life. Ergo, there isn't any residual bitterness in her work.

I'm sorry, but you can't play that kind of scene quietly. Not when you're lunging after your scene partner, chasing her out of the house and throwing [!@#$%^&*] at her. Besides, was JC supposed to be blasé about the whole matter? The bitch was trying to take her house! Under those circumstances, it would be understandable for a grown woman to get all "Maury" on her nemesis. If Lemay wanted JC to play the scene more subtly, then he should have written it more subtly. Either that, or Rauch and/or the director should have given her a note to play it more subtly. Anyway, thanks, saynotoursoap!

Not to defend Taylor or anything, but Joni Mitchell did the same thing back in her day. You know, date/sleep around and then write songs about it? In fact, Rolling Stone magazine published a sort of flow chart chronicling her sexcapades that caused a fallout between her and them for many years.

ALL: They Almost Became
I could be wrong, but I believe that they believe that these actors have built-in fan bases who will help boost ratings for the show and bring a new cache of respectability and legitimacy to the show and to the genre itself. Because, as we all know, people who watch soap operas never, ever watch anything else, and vice-versa. Right? Right? Of course I'm right.

I'm glad someone does. I can't stand TS, and here's why.... Five years ago, I developed a mad crush on someone who was too young for me (I was 30 at the time; he was 18) and who rejected (smartly, I would say) my affections. Yet, for quite awhile afterward, whenever my thoughts would drift toward him, in the next second, the same, damn TS song would play on the radio. I'm not exaggerating either. I mean, seconds -- literally seconds -- after his name or his face would appear to me, there'd she be on the little clock radio inside my bedroom, singing her little pseudo-country heart out. Once, I happened to be on a subway -- which is underground, mind you, and traveling, so forget about radio reception -- when this phenom occurred. He flashed across my mind and then.... Of course, in this instance, the music was from an iPod some girl was playing VERY loudly at the other end of the car. Nevertheless, it annoyed the [!@#$%^&*] out of me. Yes, I know it's irrational to dislike someone and/or her entire catalog of songs for so silly and personal a reason. But I can't help it. Whenever I think about or see TS or hear ANY of her stuff, I return to that very torturous period of my life when I suffered my first, actual heartbreak. Oh, and by the way? Here is the song in question: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VuNIsY6JdUw

Go 'head, Taylor, shake it off. But the truth is, you do be puttin' your business out in the street, and that is so incredibly messed up.

Knots Landing
My favorite of Karen's kids was Michael -- but only by default. The truth is, I wonder whether Karen would have been better off without children since she seemed to act like a mother figure to some most of the time.

Actually, SoapSuds (and allmc), I believe it is a little of both. Diana Fairgate was a very frustrating character, and all the heavy drama she was embroiled in was out of her portrayer, Claudia Lonow's, comfort zone. I mean, it says something that once Lonow left the show, she transitioned into a new and entirely different career as a stand-up performer and comedy writer.

Right now, I'm watching a repeat from the current season. Whatever deficiencies these past few seasons possess, I can't deny how Kelli Giddish and Ice-T make a bad-ass onscreen partnership.
