First, NBC went out of its way to normalize Trump -- on "The Apprentice," on SNL, and especially on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." Now, they're doing the same for the likes of Megyn Kelly and Alex Jones. So, yeah, I'm pretty much done with NBC for the foreseeable future. Oh, I'm sure backroom deals have been struck. Which wouldn't be the first time, if you believe the History Channel. ETA: Either that, or, given the leaks about the focus of Mueller's investigations, it's possible the Senate knows something now that the rest of us aren't privy to just yet. But I'd rather put my metaphorical money on the former.

I stand by what I said upthread: if/when Trump finally goes down, it won't be over Russia. However, I hope even Trump isn't foolish enough to believe a "blanket public exoneration" from Mueller will satisfy everyone. No matter what Mueller (or anyone else) gives or doesn't give him, this scandal, with its implications that Trump's is not a legitimate presidency, will dog Trump the rest of his days. No one is safe in Trump Nation. In other news: Kamala Harris is queen. That is all.

I'd go one farther and say that while I believe Trump will, at some point, be faced with a choice between resignation or prison, it won't have much, if anything, to do with Russia. It'll be over something else that is so stupidly trivial (at least by comparison) that everyone will be left asking, "You mean THAT's what it took to get his triflin' ass outta office?!". I'm definitely number eight.

In retrospect, I cannot understand why so many in this country wrote off the Carter administration after everything that happened under Nixon and Ford. I, for one, would welcome someone like Carter in the WH right about now.

No offense to you OR your brother, but I'd love to see his reaction the day his bosses inform him that he's being replaced by robots. His reasoning: if we DON'T give people like Borat Milo a platform, then free speech is in danger, and so, too, is America. And I'd agree with him...if we didn't live in a society where filth like that has no trouble at all getting across his message, corrosive as it is, to like-minded souls. C'mon, Mr. Maher, call it what it is: a ratings grab. You want to bring back Milo because you KNOW that brings ratings to your show and keeps your obnoxious behind in the spotlight; and in a way, that's about as putrid as the bilge water Milo spews on a regular basis.

That ALONE would keep investigators busy for, oh, I would say, the next 30 years. IMO, Trump Nation cares about one thing, and that is eradicating the legacy of one Barack Hussein Obama. That's why - again, IMO - they were and are willing to turn the metaphorical blind eye to everything else, INCLUDING the Russia stuff (which is quickly becoming the most Byzantine umbrella story I have ever witnessed) and even the high crimes and misdemeanors that Dubya's administration likely committed. They wanted Hillary knocked down and knocked out, because they knew that an administration with her in charge would likely have meant a continuation of President P-Funk's legacy; and as marceline, Jane and others have said, that's really all they have to argue at this point. You know, I believe we will survive this like we have survived all the other insane [!@#$%^&*] that has happened since America became America. (IOW, no need to stock up the nuclear bomb shelters...yet.). But I ALSO believe that it will be up to our children and even our grandchildren to repair the damage that man has done to our standing with the rest of the world. Until then, it'll be like what happens when the adults finally allow a child to sit at their table for Thanksgiving and then live to regret it. The people of New York City, who had to live with Trump for decades before his big move to D.C., tried to warn the rest of us about the man; and as usual, the rest of us wouldn't listen.
