It really burns me when the show uses Misty Circle to insult Nicole. She was a minor forced into porn by her abusive father. There are a million other things characters can to say to bash Nicole. Stop with the "Nicole is a slut who did porn!" narrative already.

    That bothered me even then.

They established Nicole did porn and kept it a secret but then they showed those "flashbacks" and it was basically rape. Child rape. Not the same at all.

Leave it to Langan (and Sami) to conflate the two.

That said, I still think RC's faults are specific to him but I'd take self-referential and heavy-handed humor over whatever flatlining dreg Y&R is serving these days.

That's pretty much how I feel.

Ron is basically a poor man's Ryan Murphy but at least his shows are fun. You can feel the creative energy but he needs a co-HW to tame his camp and self-indulgence.

That whole Langan era was just odd.  It was still trying to be JER's Days, but also so focused on the teens.  I hated it at the time, but I think I was just spoiled from the 90's

There was some Langan stuff I liked but not much.

    His teens were caricatures.

    Virtual Eden? Disaster.

I did like when they mixed Greta up with Jack and Jennifer. The story was dumb but Julianne had great chemistry with Matt and Missy.

Does it even matter at this point?  Stefano is dead and John has plenty of kids.  It wouldn't even be dramatic. Marlena took Paul and Leo being/potentially being John's kids without so much batting an eyelash, but I guess it deserves an ending lol.  There was so much fuss and we didn't even get a conclusion.  I thought she did say it wasn't John when she left though.

I don't think it mattered much even then.

Between the fan poll deciding the father of Hope's baby, the Greta mystery, flirting with Chloe as Stefano's daughter, retconning the fan poll to make Bo the father after already making it Stefano, all the baby switch stuff, and about half a dozen other examples, I was so burnt out on baby/paternity stories.

I don't think the writers even knew who Greta's father was. They were making it up as they went along.

  5. Looks kind of fun.

I see why they used Eileen since it's alternate reality where John and Kristen are married but I'd like to see Stacy Haiduk in these specials. I love Eileen but her inclusion shouldn't mean Stacy's exclusion. I'd also like to see them work together.

Since when is Kristen this sex crazed nympho? I mean, sure, she's a sexual being. But Ron seems to see ED's Kristen as perpetually horny for some reason.

Love the outdoor establishing shots. Surely they can add those to the regular show. The sets look good too.

Glad to see Greg Rikaart back. Leo and Xander should be fun. Looking forward to Sonny and Will too.

It all looks fun. Nothing in the trailer blew my socks off but I love how they're thinking outside the box for these specials. It lets them do things they can't do on the regular show without affecting story and it's still a relevant companion. It also opens the door to other soaps doing similar stuff. Good all around.

They should show nudity on these specials. It's a streaming platform, they can get away with more and it's a draw to the audience (primarily women and gay men) if they know they get to see Chad's ass on Peacock.

I love these type of stories. To me, it’s classic soap.  I like watching the bad guy scheme and doing whatever it takes to keep or get the person they’re obsessed with.  And then it builds up to them getting busted.  That is one of the things Reilly did very well during his first tenure at DAYS and at Passions.

Vivian, Sami, and evil Kristen were so fun to watch.

In it's time, I think the simplicity was part of the appeal. Like a Disney movie. You knew who the heroes were and you knew who the villain was.

That kind of simplicity doesn't appeal to everyone but for the art of soap opera and appealing to a broad, fanatic audience, I thought it worked well.

I don't like everything he did. He dumbed down characters to the point of braindead. In some cases he changed characters entirely. The crux of several plots hinged on misunderstandings and people not having simple, obvious conversations. But he had great instinct for appealing to the tribalism in people.

As an ultra Catholic, I think he really viewed the world in a black or white kind of way. Good vs. Evil. In a lot of his stories, you saw how characters were punished for what the church would consider "sinful" acts. And you saw how the heroes/heroines suffered for their virtues.

Marlena had an affair and ended up possessed. Later, it was her care for Kristen's baby that kept her from telling John the truth during Kristen's "pregnancy." Mimi had an abortion and ended up barren. Kristen cheated on Tony, later had a miscarriage and lost everything (including her fertility) after betraying all prior virtues for the man with whom she'd cheated. I even feel like he had Alan rape Sami as payback for wanting her sister's boyfriend.

There was some misogyny in his writing that seems to fall in line with his beliefs and world view. Those things didn't bother me then as much as they bother me now. Still, his writing came from a perspective that allowed for villains who were particularly rotten and heroes/heroines that were pure (and dumb) as the fresh fallen snow.

He was excellent at crafting a story and building it to payoff. Maison Blanche. Possession. Aremid. John/Marlena/Kristen and the secret room. Sami/Austin/Carrie.

Jack/Jen/Peter felt more sideburner but same formula. Vivian/Victor/Kate were fun but that was more grey.

Bo and Hope were his weak spot, though I still liked what he wrote for them, minus the Franco nonsense. I was totally engaged in the Gina mystery (pre-SSM) and Kristian in the 90's was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen.

I swear NBC could air this stuff over new episodes and get higher ratings. They need to package these old episodes and put them to market.

  7. JER's second stint was a mess but I liked Bonnie. She was a throwaway character under Langan but JER put Judi in the role and reinvented her as chain smoking white trash. Right down to the AquaNet hair and bingo addiction. I loved it.

I also liked Julie vs. Bonnie. Campy and over the top but fun. Like a Drag Race skit.

Now I'm remembering the set they used for Mickey and Bonnie's house. The first time I remember seeing it was in Aremid. Then it was the Blake house where "Kristen" drowned in the pool. Then it was Craig and Nancy's house. Then Mickey and Bonnie's. When was the last time we saw that set? I always liked it.

But yeah... Bonnie can go now.

  8. I'm not a fan of the possession story but I'm enjoying it more than I did the first few weeks. Probably because Deidre's finally out of that devil costume. I wish Ron gave this a less campy take but at least he writes for John and Marlena and keeps them center. I like that. It's so ADHD though. So disappointing.

I'm fine with Eileen coming back for visits. I've come to love Stacy as Kristen but I also love Eileen. I just hope, as a fan of Stacy's, she at least has some level of stability given how she's come in and completely committed to the show and the character. I really love her.

I don't know why I like the Rafe/Ava story but I do. I've never cared about Rafe and they've basically turned Ava into Sophia Petrillo. But they're building to something with Ava and I'm anxious to see where it goes. I'm looking forward to her desecrating that bear.

Jake and Gabi are boring. Pretty to look at, not particularly annoying, but boring. I like Gabi vs. Ava though, petty as it is.

I love Paulina but I'm not a fan of Jackee's emotional scenes. I love the energy she brings to the show though. They need to mix her up with Kate.

I've come to really enjoy EJ and Nicole. It took me a minute to get used to Dan but he's great. I divorced myself from the show years ago so I'm not as bothered by character inconsistencies as I used to be.

I love EJ and Kristen. Dan and Stacy are electric together. Whether it's the mother/son dynamic or the brother/sister dynamic.

I like Steve and Kayla for the first time ever. I've never disliked them, I just never understood their appeal. But I love Stephen and Mary Beth. They work so well together and I've come to really love Mary Beth. She's a subtle, nuanced actress and every bit as capable of carrying a big story as Deidre, Stacy, Ali, Ari, etc.

I'm enjoying Johnny/Allie/Chanel/Tripp. Raven Bowens is hit or miss but she has a ton of charisma. I really like the guy playing Johnny, he's good. Allie too. I'm not sure where anything is going with these characters but I like all the actors. Tripp's a little boring though.

Ciara and Ben are annoying as hell. I think I would've loved them when I was 13. They have a certain appeal. The show should totally capitalize on it. But Victoria Konefal seems to be playing herself and this baby story is a bust. I like RSW though.

I like Lani and Eli but they need more to do. Really enjoy the Lani/Kristen friendship.

Brady/Chloe/Phillip. A mess. I actually like Phillip darker. But I don't like JKJ, never have. And Nadia's as stiff as she ever was.

I've enjoyed watching Chad and Abby re-establish their marriage. I know a lot of people think they're boring but I enjoy them. I love how Billy Flynn has grown as an actor and I've come to love Marci as Abby. She plays Abby a little sanctimonious but I love it. I also love Kate Mansi. But I prefer Marci as Abby now. And Billy's tenderness does things to me.

I enjoy Gwen but she's gotten a little weepy. Not crazy about her and Xander. Hopefully with Sarah coming back (right?) things are about to get messy. But I do like Gwen.

What a hatchet job they've done on Jack.  I've never cared for Matt Ashford but he's never been this bad before. Can we at least get Mark Valley if Jack is going to be central in anything?

Bonnie can go. I loved her at one time (Judi kills white trash) but this Bonnie/Adrienne hybrid they've created is weird.

    Did I forget anything?

Oh, the DiMera set. For a show with no budget they made it look great. Shame they brought Eileen back and we never even got to see her on it.

Ron needs a co-HW to ground his campier tendencies. Badly. Like Sheri with JER. But the show is entertaining and he doesn't bore me like Higley, so that's something.

  9. Reilly is one of the best there ever was.

Watching back, some of the things that didn't bother me when I was younger drive me crazy now. But his ability to craft compelling, long game story and capture it in that perfect gothic tone was the zenith of the art for me. Lighting in a bottle.

Watching back, I appreciate the earlier years more than 96-97. Dumbing down the characters, Susan overload, etc. brought the show down after a while. But with Sheri there to ground him it was magic.

It's kind of weird to post here again. Been a long time. Hi everybody.

I think Larissa's biggest problem is that she doesnt know when to STFU. Her mouth gets her in too much trouble. She was a hater on FoL2, but she is taking it to a whole other level now and I wonder if its all for show. Me things she's trying to get her own show which is why she's out to be head bitch.
  11. LMAO Kenny! Larissa is a miserable bitch. She's no kind of friend because if Shay hadn't told Monique the truth, Larissa was gonna pin the picture thing on her. Larissa doesn't know how to handle herself with people. You can't always run off at the mouth and start talkign crap. She's gonna run up on the wrong person and they are gonna put her on her ass. She had no right to call Leilene a crackhead. I'm glad Leilene didn't respond to her.

I think that Larissa over-estimates her strength. In the heat of the moment, she feels the adrenaline and it makes her feel invincible, but one of these days she's going to catch a bigger, badder b!tch in a bad moment and open her bigass mouth, and her ass is going to get laid out, hard and quick. I hope someone has a camera and sends the photos to Perez when it happens!

It's so funny to me that she calls Shay a snitch, when what she did to Shay was ten times worse than what Shay did to Larissa! Which is worse, really? A snitch, or a backstabbing, coldhearted bitch? The latter just sounds a bit more heavy, I think. She wouldn't have had to snitch on your ass if you weren't trying to pin the sh!t on her in the first place! LoL

Gawd, I really shouldn't watch reality shows. These people just piss me off too much, and not unlike some soaps, too many of 'em don't get the payback they deserve.

  12. I want Saaphryi to win bc she has had the best journey and ahs changed the most. She is alot more composed and in control now than in FoL2. Sure she slips and has reverted a few times, well mainly the clothing task, but for the most part, she is a better person. I think she deserves it. Shes my favorite there.

I actually think Leilene might win and I do not want that to happen. She is getting alot of sympathy though thanks to Larissa. WTH was she calling Leilene a crackhead? Does she think she's Omarosa? That was just uncalled for bc her children might see that. When I saw this clip below, I did feel bad for Leilene

I hope that bitch gets run over by a bus. I can't stand her!

Who the hell does she think she is telling Leilene how to be a good mother? Does Larissa even have kids? If so, I feel sorry for her litter... they have a mom from hell! And her line about how a good mother wouldn't have to take off their clothes to pay the bills.... pfft! Not even ten minutes ago I saw pictures of Larissa on the net from a new calendar of hers or some sh!t, and she's barely clothed. Pot, meet kettle!

What does Leilene stripping have to do with Larissa at all? She acts personally offended by it! Why? Did Leilene wrapping herself around a pole have ANYTHING to do with Larissa? Really. Girl went psycho crazy over something that doesn't even involve her! LoL Oooh, I hope she dies. Really. If I turned on the television tomorrow and heard the words, "Larissa, star of VH1's 'Flavor of Love' and 'Charm School,' has been brutally murdered," I wouldn't feel sorry in the least. I'd probably be asking what took so long.

    Yes, I'm a coldhearted bitch.

  13. Why did the new episode (featuring New York) air on MTV but not VH1, its home channel?

Anyway, whatever the case... BEST EPISODE EVER!

THANK GOD THE BITCH IS GONE!

I think that either Saaphyri, Shay or Leilene will win.

Saaphyri needs the money. Probably not more than anyone else, but she keeps milking it and it will gain her a little bit of sympathy.

Shay is a strong woman, but she's not flat-out nasty like the other girls (most of the time). She knows how to hold herself with composure, but she's not a push-over, either. Her only downfall is picking bad friends (Larissa).

Then there's Leilene. In my opinion, she should win, because she's the classiest of them all. I know, she was a stripper, but she still carries herself with more femininity and class than all the others. The one thing that could hold her back, though, is that she's BOOOOORING, LoL

Anyway, I'm just happy that Larissa got the boot. Bitch reminds me of Trina, the rapper, and I can't stand her nasty ass, either.

  14. I think this girl might have, perhaps, the most insanely GORGEOUS vocal I've heard in my entire life. She has literally got the voice of an angel. Listen to her soft, whispery falsetto. It's amazing! She's not a Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston/Celine Dion wannabe... she IS them.

    Leona Lewis - "Without You"

  15. "They should have brought me back that same night after they reviewed the tapes and kicked out the two girls responsible for the bold faced lies."

Is that a spoiler? Do Larissa and Shay get the boot?!

Meanwhile, I'd LOVE to see her on her own series! OMG. I would be in heaven... she's just so unreal, I'd have to watch! She reminds me somewhat of Janella from Big Brother, just so cartoon-ready.
