The Politics Thread
I am really shocked that this happened. I didn't think that Biden was actually going to do it and he was just going to keep on ignoring the naysayers, but the fact that he did really doesn't bode well for the Democrats and for us as a whole. My nagging feeling that this is basically a repeat of 2016 is intensifying even more with this latest turn of events and if the Democrats move ahead with Kamala Harris as their nominee, I won't be surprised if Trump wins. Then again, I guess the Democrats are screwed anyway no matter what they do now. Hilary Clinton couldn't even beat Trump back in 2016, so what makes anybody think that Kamala has a chance in hell of beating him? Not to mention that the political climate has gotten so much worse this time around and I can't help but think that there are a whole lot of people that would be more than willing to throw away their freedoms and rights away forever if it meant preventing a Black woman from getting into the Oval Office. I really would advise starting making exit plans as soon as possible because this is only going to get much worse from here and I truly believe that we're seeing our democracy fading and withering away in real time. If you guys still want to vote, that's fine by me, but personally I really don't think it's going to make that much of a difference at this point. Even if Kamala Harris somehow wins the election, and that's a very big IF, there is no guarantee that Donald Trump doesn't have some kind of back-up plan that's going to allow him to steal the presidency from right underneath her nose. One way or another, he's getting back in the White House and everyone needs to start preparing themselves.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
A successful businesswoman? Are we SERIOUSLY talking about the same character here? The very same woman who is so lazy and inept with absolutely no desire to work and only wants to marry a rich, wealthy guy so that she can spend all his money on all kinds of junk? The same woman who couldn't even keep her own fashion company going because of bad investments? LOL! Don't make me laugh! I'm not naive, I'm being realistic here. I want better for female characters on this soap but it's pretty obvious that is never going to happen because these writers are just going to keep on perpetuating the same old tired tropes every single time and they are going to keep on writing for a certain subset of viewers that refuse to change with the times. And I highly doubt that's ever going to change. And at this point I'm not even going to hold my breath and wait for it to happen.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
Well most if not all characters on this soap have been paired up with somebody in one way or another and if you want to have any kind of longevity or viability on this show, you need to be in a popular pairing or at the very least have some kind of purpose. Otherwise there is no point. This is a show that is based on supercouples. Sami was a schemer too but that didn't exactly stop her from landing two very successful pairings in Lucas and E.J. Maybe if the writers haven't damaged Theresa so much as a character, maybe she might still be viable enough for a pairing but since she really isn't anymore, then the only thing left for her to do is to spend the next 10 to 20 years interfering in her son's relationships just like Kate did and that's basically it for her. There's nothing else for her anyway.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
Not for at least another 5 years. I don't want these writers to bring her back unless they have a real plan for her. If they want to continue to write her as a scheming gold-digger, then write her as one. But if they actually want her to be a loving but flawed mom, then write her as one. They need to pick a lane and stick with it because they can't have it both ways. Also, who is she even going to be paired up with? Brady is never going to want anything to do with her and neither will Alex. If Theresa continues to be a gold-digger, I can definitely see her gravitating towards the DiMeras and setting her sights on E.J., but I don't know how long her and E.J. are even going to last.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
They weren't just horribly written; their characters were also pretty awful. At any rate, I won't be surprised if most if not all of them end up getting the boot. Then we can finally bring back characters that actually belong on the show and have a real purpose and are also beloved by fans.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
Wow, I honestly never thought that this day would come. Thank God he's finally gone! Anyways, I'm cautiously optimistic about the new head-writers and I do hope things at Days improve, but then again, Patrick Mulcahey came out of retirement to return to GH again, and look what happened... So since Ron is gone I think we're probably going to see the end of BenAlex, Leo and maybe Ava and Bonnie. Also I hope this means that Emily O'Brien will never come back as either Gwen or Theresa in any capacity ever again! I hope both characters disappear into the ether and are never mentioned ever again. I definitely think Stephanie is safe because she's a legacy character and Jada might also stick around because she's one of Ron's few creations that has actually worked out pretty well. I also hope that the new headwriters don't actually get rid of all of the gay and Black characters because that diversity needs to be maintained along with some actual good storytelling. I also noticed that Cwickly was writing during the height of Brady/Chloe's prime so I'm expecting for that couple to possibly be revisited again, which is fine by me. I'm not really a big fan of those two but Brady desperately needs to settle down and fans have been begging for a permanent Broe reunion for many years now. Also if Alex is gone, I hope Stephanie ends up with Philip too.

Oh yeah, she is definitely owed a major apology for the way she's been treated through this whole stint. And I really hope that if Days asks her to resume filming again in the near future, she just tells them to screw off. How much you want to bet it's probably just another short 3-6 month stint and then Ron will just toss her aside again when he's done and bored with her, (assuming she's going to play Theresa again; if it's Gwen, I think it's going to be much more long term).

You never know; they might still go with Brady/Chloe as the ultimate endgame. But if that's the case, then who is going to be Philip's endgame? I feel like it should be Stephanie but I don't know if their current actors are going to have any amount of chemistry with each other. Then again I could also be fine with Belle since I feel like she and Shawn are pretty much played out and they need to have a long if not permanent separation. Shawn might actually work with Talia. Speaking of which, I hope Talia comes back at some point, even if it's a recast. She hasn't really done anything so horrible compared to other characters that she can't come back in the distant future. I actually would have Theresa and Kristen killed off permanently because they are pretty much both played out and they're basically both irredeemable psychos. I am also well aware that Theresa is a legacy character but she is so extremely despised and hated by so many fans across the board that it's not just worth it to keep her on the canvas long term and if I were the head-writer, I would cut my losses and just have her killed off permanently. I would then replace her with both Andrew and a resurrected Paige because I always felt like killing off Paige was a colossal mistake and she still had some potential left. Plus it pretty much limited a lot of story potential with Eve, especially now that she's practically in her 60's, (I think she probably is; I don't know, my math skills are awful; lol). Even if Paige doesn't ultimately get back together with J.J., she could be potentially paired up with other male characters her age and she would also be a great asset at the hospital since I recall that she was studying to be a med student. Also with Kristen dead, Rachel can go live with Brady permanently and maybe she might still have a chance to grow up to be a somewhat decent human being.

I highly doubt Theresa is going to stick around because based on next week's spoilers it looks like that Theresa may be preparing to leave town again. Which is fine by me because viewers as a whole need a long break from this character. I certainly do. Besides, the whole town is going to be pissed at her and want nothing to do with her and not even her son will want anything to do with her. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Maybe if Brady and Chloe hadn't split up when they did, they probably would still be together by now and they also would have had kids of their own. Maybe Tate and/or Parker would've been their offspring together. Brady would've been better off in the long run and so would Chloe.

That right there is the main fundamental problem with Ericole and that is one of the main reasons why I don't even like them anymore. Also Nicole and Eric look really bad leading on their other love interests into thinking that they're going to be with them for the long haul when that's not even the case.

The Politics Thread
Yeah, this is not good. It's pretty clear at this point that our democracy is literally hanging on by a thread and there isn't much that we can do other than vote. And even I'm not sure if that's going to be enough. I have this horrible sinking feeling that this is basically a repeat of 2016 and it's only a matter of time before Trump gets re-elected. And if and when that happens, we need to have a back-up plan of what we're going to do after that. I know a lot of people online are vowing to fight the fascist regime no matter what but I think they're crazy and they need to realize that this isn't exactly like the movies. For God's sake, this is real life, not Red Dawn. We need to come up with a system or network to get the most vulnerable and at risk citizens out of this country as soon as they can and get them to a country that will accept them. Because if you're determined to fight on to the bitter end, I hope you realize that there is a good possibility that you're going to die in the process. And if you stay in this country, there is a very good chance that you're going to die a horrible, miserable, cruel death, get shipped off to a death camp or get even deported. And I don't know what's worse. At this point, I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the very worst.

Sarah has every right to act smug and self-righteous, especially when she eventually finds out that Theresa helped Konstantin kidnap her own daughter. I hope she continues to act smug and self-righteous to her all day long. And I also need for Xander to finish the job that Konstantin was going to do and strangle the very life out of Theresa. She is a dangerous sociopath and a menace to society and she needs to be locked away in a maximum security prison for good.

I'm not surprised that Johnny and Chanel lost the baby. I knew that it was coming and I really don't think Ron is capable of doing that kind of story justice anyway. And they really shouldn't have been saddled with a baby anyway, so as sad and tragic as it is, this is a major relief. But with Johnny and Chanel no longer having a baby, what's even the purpose of Felicity now? Or is she just going to be a token character used as a prop for other people's stories. (Oh who am I kidding? Of course she is!) The less I say about Theresa the better. The evil irredeemable sociopath needs to be off my screen soon.

DAYS: June 2024 Discussion Thread
Yeah, I really don't see that happening, especially since Holly has been upset about Theresa opposing her relationship with Tate and she also has been giving Nicole a pretty hard time. It actually would be a lot more interesting if Holly blackmails Theresa into allowing her to see Tate or she's going to tell everybody about what she and Konstantin did to the will and about her lying to everybody about Alex being Victor's kid.

That actually would be fine if Theresa wasn't acting like a massive hypocrite and still committing all sorts of crimes and concocting horrible schemes to get money. I'm sorry, but today's scenes with Theresa just fell flat for me and I just don't buy that she actually has any love or concern for her son. Even if she does, she obviously loves money more over anything else.

I highly doubt Allie is going to be involved in a relationship with another woman ever again; I never really bought her as someone who would actually be attracted to women anyway, much less be in a relationship with one. Chanel is a lot more believable but unless she and Johnny break up I don't see her getting involved with another woman ever again.

I'm pretty much expecting Tate and Holly to be having a baby by this time next year. I mean, what else are they going to do with them anyway? At least hopefully Theresa won't be around to be a horrible influence on people. Also, isn't anybody sick and tired of Theresa already? Why is Ron devoting so much screen time to such an unlikable and awful character like her and also expect us to even care who she even ends up with? Her downfall and exit date really cannot come soon enough for me!

Eh, I can kind of see how her personality might sort of rub people the wrong way and she can be a bit much at times, but that's fine. At least from what I can see on her social media and interviews, she actually tries to be a decent human being and there are so many awful and horrible people in this world as is and she's a fresh breath of air in comparison. And like I said before on another post, I don't think Theresa should be a long term character anyway, especially with the writing that she's been given as of late. She needs to appear for brief pop-in visits every once in a while and meddle in her son's love life. Don't forget that she is also raising four young kids all under the age of 10, with her youngest being about 2-years-old.

I also think that Jen would've made a pretty solid Belle but I'm glad that she wound up playing Theresa. I do know that a lot of people have complained that Theresa doesn't really act like somebody who's supposed to be Kim and Shane's daughter, but that's the fault of the writers that never really bothered to explain why she turned out the way she did. I always felt that Theresa should've been portrayed as a flawed heroine who struggles with a lot of massive trauma from her childhood and Jen would've rocked that part and she just doesn't really work as a villain especially since there is no plausible established explanation as to why she's that way.

DAYS: June 2024 Discussion Thread
I won't be surprised if that could be largely due to the way he was raised in California. Maybe Theresa wasn't as good of a mom as people might've thought and she probably might've been neglectful or emotionally distant on some level because she was either occupied with her fashion company or maybe with some other guys. Honestly, I'm glad that he has utter contempt for his mom because she really doesn't deserve his love and affection and I hope after she gets exposed that he completely turns on her and wants nothing to do with her ever again and he just decides to remain loyal to his dad because his dad is actually a good person.
