  1. I wish they would show more animals and farming like back in the day.. Even if its just on Radio but 'The Archers' is doing just an amazing job with that.

Emmerdale is my number 1 UK Show. I kinda love Meena.

The only issue i have right now is the balance and continuity of storys. Too much going on at once. We have the Liv alcoholism story,Meena-David-Victoria + Murder plot, Tracy and her Baby stuff, The Whoolpack Story of Chaz + Marlon, Aprils bullying, that weird Wendy + Russel money plot that no one asked for, Belles mental illness that pops up whenever they realise that the actress is still on a payroll, Jamie+Kim + Gaby etc.

Sometimes u dont see a character for a whole month. Thats way to uneven.. Hell even Meena was gone for like 3 weeks by now and people complain that she is on every day. :D

  2. Huh? It wasn't just a rumor that Maisie was leaving.. She promoted her move to the States way before Covid-19. lmao I was surprised that she stayed until the end of 2021..

She will be another one of those who will end up back in the UK and if its not back with EE she will be on Oaks or Corrie :D

  3. I miss the Sudgens being the frontburner.. Thats why i enjoy everything i get out of the Victoria Sudgen Character.

I miss the Tates too. I hope Jamie ain't dead and will pop up again. There is no confirmation that the actor is through with the show.. I don't get the hate the actor or the Jamie character gets. I enjoyed his last episode and the way he tried to flee with Dawn. Dawn + Jamie belong together.

People complain about the lack of humor or comedy in this show but i think thats nonsense. The Jigsaw date of Diane, the irish banter between Bernice and MacKenzie and so on.

Aprils bullying story really touched my heart in the last couple of weeks and i feel kinda sorry for Bob and April in this.

  4. The Bold and the Beautiful: Ridge/Brooke/Taylor.. Bro they were nearly in every freaking episode (besides Taylors 6 month exit in 1994) and most fans were addicted and invested in that triangle.

Who really ate as much screentime and was frontburner her entire run like Susan Lucci on AMC  was Kelly Ripa as Hayley Vaughan! But i loved every second of it especially when Mateo came into the show.

And Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kendall Hart was overkill too when it came to screentime but we all seem to have liked and loved it... or maybe it was just me :D

  5. I've heard that the Nihat - Spin-Off was well received compared to the Sunny one.

I am not really into those Spin-Off Shows but the Leon Moreno one that is coming is something i am interested in coz Susan Siederopolous as Verena Koch returns. She was one of the longest Cast Members back in the day and one of my favorites.

People in Germany seem to freak out about this comeback and have the wildest theories lmao I would like to see their reactions to some stuff from Days of Our Lives.

The main difference is Corrie still has some characters one can care about, and tries to maintain integrity in some of them. EE is entirely hollow at this  point,  lurching from  one plot device to another even as none of it makes sense or is worth watching. The worst part now is the incredibly pathetic obsession with bringing up past moments as a checklist - it's like mainlining Wikipedia summaries as scripts.

But Corrie is starting to become like EastEnders. Yeah Corrie may have some more relatable and more likeable characters but not by much.

EE could've kept on being an Award Winning show if they would've finished the abuse storyline of Chantelle and her death. I mean Gray is still around and he not only got away with abusing his wife. He also got away with killings. U should've seen the Corrie threads a couple of days ago after Corrie won best soap. All Fans voted for Corrie coz it did the violence story right until court. If Corrie would've stopped there and finish the story and the verdict at court rightfully Corrie would be the best soap around forever. But of course it has to drag on for unneeded bs. Like the Geoff/Yasemeen Story. It was a good story on paper and the acting was fine but why dragging it out for so long that people stop caring?

That's the same with the never ending Phil of EastEnders, Who is taking this fool still serious?

EastEnders was one of my favorite shows back in the day but when they killed off my Mitchell Sisters Roxy and Ronnie i was nearly done with this show.

The only good story EE had in the past 1-2 years was the 35th Anniversary, Ians exit, Dotty being Dotty and annoying everyone else (Fans and characters on the show :D) the cancer story of Jean. Otherwise this show has nothing to offer.

Lord. Hollyoaks meets Emmerdale is what I get from that. LOL.

I guess the UK soaps are responding to "you've been boring" with their yearly end of stunts. Sigh. Sometimes they work, often they don't. At least I guess there's an effort to pull something off but like it's being talked about in the EastEnders thread, it's all about throwing something at the wall, seeing if it sticks, and winning the awards.

The balance and structure remains odd. The interaction is getting better but they used to do such a better job mixing folks and stories. It felt like lots of things were on-going.

lol it sure does. I assume they'll do a good job pulling it off, more so than the others do, but not sure how to feel. It seems ... desperate

Ironically, Hollyoaks seems to be doing the best job at having multiple stories on-going and the cast interacting regularly. You can tell folks are still in their own bubble but I don't really see the same issues. It helps they have a much much smaller cast I think.

Which is a shame coz Hollyoaks is such a [!@#$%^&*] show most of the time lmao

  8. 1 will die and there are rumors it could be Charity lmao (Which i doubt)..

I think those stunts that are mentioned were  started by a trend in the UK in 2010. Hollyoaks started those BIG STUNTS and SOAP CHANGING killings, explosions and whatever u could possibly imagine. It all started with that highly popular Silas Blisset - Serial Killer Storyline and Corries 50th Anniversary Tram Crash stunt. (Which is still one of my favorite soap opera anniversarys)

From there on Hollyoaks got buzz and ratings and praises. Oaks did more and more of those Killer and stunt stuff. All the other UK Soaps tried to cash in from that and create their own serial killer and big stunts.

So is every other story on this shitshow.

In all fairness the UK Soaps are different than the US Soaps. It seems random coz the UK Soaps don't have a structure anymore like back in the day. They don't think about their storys for the long run. They are writting explosive and random storys that click with the audience to win BAFTAs, NTA's, British Soap Awards.

And it shows that they are just trying to win awards like Coronation Street. It's as boring as EE but they always have that one story that people click with and vote for.

  10. i started re-watching the 2011 OLTL scenes of Rex/Gigi-Stacey/Cutter Storyline and i still love it. Rex and Gigi were one of my ultimate favorite pairings of OLTL with Tina & Cord, Patrick & Marty, Victor Junior (TSJ) and Tea, Brody and Jessica, and John and Natalie.

I think the soap had a lot of great pairings and great love storys.

But John-Paul Lavoisiers acting during the Rex/Gigi-Amnesia and Cutter story was one of the best acting on OLTL in that final year tbh. He is such an underrated actor.

I really felt his pain. I know some people still would've liked a Rex and Adriana comeback and endgame but Gigi and Rex had that spark tbh.

One of my only complain in that story was that one scene where Tina met Gigi and she told Jessica about it while Gigi was standing in front of the house and had to wait while Jessica told Tina that Gigi is dead and that this is impossible. I mean like seriously? My poor girl Tina was done dirty a lot of times when they tried to make her look dizzy and stupid. Why didn't Tina just let her inside of the house or took Jessica straight to the door? I mean i get why but come on. :D

    AW:

I much preferred Carmen Duncan as Iris over Beverlee McKinsey.

    ATWT

    I liked Katie (fluffy).

    Santa Barbara:

I didn't like Julia and Mason as end game.  Felt it diminished her character.

    Ryan's hope:

The Ryan's weren't all that interesting as a family especially after a few years.

Is that really an unpopular opinion? I always thought Katie on ATWT was highly popular back in the day or am i mistaken about that?

Thanks, since you two both agree on that I'll just rename them and move them into the 1995 folder.

Taylor was presumed dead in a plane crash and discovered by Prince Omar. Meanwhile Ridge married Brooke in that sandcastle ceremony. Omar eventually discovered who she was, but she had amnesia and was known as Princess Layla. Somehow Brooke and Ridge ended up on their honeymoon at Prince Omar's castle, by now Taylor remembered who she was, but was devastated seeing Ridge with Brooke. Omar would make her watch them in the bedroom via closed circuit video. Taylor was also wearing a burqa when she interacted with them, so they didn't recognize her. Taylor decided to just stay in Morocco and marry the Prince. It wouldn't work today because it had a lot of Middle Eastern stereotypes and Taylor was locked away a la Princess Jasmine in Aladdin. Eventually Taylor goes back to LA and reveals her identity (the CALA Classics episodes that were just uploaded).

What was more interesting was probably the backstage part. Hunter Tylo was co-starring in a miniseries called The Maharaja's daughter with Kabir Bedi, which is why she was temporarily written out, and why he guested on the show. I remember reading some gossip about it back then in the soap press. I didn't have the internet back in 1994 so I'm surprised it even made it into the magazines and I'm sure what made it in was the tip of the iceberg. Allegedly Hunter had an affair with Kabir, and almost got divorced. I also recall her saying something about being bitten by a snake and possessed (???) and then she became a born-again Christian after that.  She also apparently was super close with Kimberlin Brown (I think they both lived in Vegas and commuted together by plane?), but they had a falling out and it was really nasty and I vaguely remember one of them was accused of keying the other's car??? And then they stopped speaking. Kimberlin and her husband also testified on Michael Tylo's behalf during a custody dispute. Some people online later speculated it was a lesbian relationship gone bad, lol.  I hope I'm not the only one who remembers this stuff, haha.

And after all that, Hunter went on Melrose Place and the whole Aaron Spelling lawsuit happened... she certainly has been involved in her share of drama.

i remember that snake thing and stuff. Even my mother who ain't into soaps anymore remembered that. lmao That was wild stuff.

1994 is the year i really want to see again and especially coz of Taylor. That was when my mother got me hooked on that show when i was a little boy. I felt so sorry for Taylor and can't wait to see them episodes again

  13. Germany has another soap that started in 2007: Dahoam is Dahoam (Home is Home).. Technically Berlin - Tag und Nacht (berlin - Day and Night) and Köln 50667 can be added/labeled as soap operas too. They run for over 2200/2500 episodes by now.

And i am shocked that two south african soaps got cancelled between 2020-21.. Rhythm City :(

And Baraktok Kozt got cancelled too.

  14. Unpopular Opinion but i find Erica Kane and Jackson Montgomery overrated as a couple. I mean as people can see on my nickname that i love AMC and i enjoyed them but i do find them overrated.

I even think that the finale made totally sense when Jackson finally gave up on her. That was one of the most satisfying moments of the entire end. He deserves better than Erica!

Sheila’s only just arrived in B&B at this point. She still has to marry Eric and then go through marital problems before the Catalina events of 1995…though of course the three of them will have interacted on both shows between “now” and Catalina, discovering Sheila’s still alive, etc…

I see. Thank u.. We are in 1992 and i think that Scott Grainger stuff happened like late 1993.

  16. I'm glad Xavier won! He deserved it.. But i still think this is the most boring season. I thought ALL-Star was a disgrace and this was a step up it still felt so boring.

I mean people complain about a big alliance dominating the game but it happened again. The Cookout was known to have a winner in their alliance from the beginning and that made it so boring. It just got interesting again when it came down to the cookout members ruining each others game.

But what a shame Derek X didn't got further.
