  1. Stefano‘s return was well done with him meeting Megan! Even if it was a re-write I enjoyed those scenes.

Gosh I loved Wayne as Roman and even Drake when he played Roman for 4-5 years until they turned Him into John.

Its a shame Stefano is dead otherwise I would be totally fine if Stefano would get his revenge on Josh his Roman lol I loved that dude as Chris and it sounds cold as hell but I wouldn’t mind if any of the DiMeras would take on Stefano‘s request of destroying Roman 😂

  2. Even if they would write them dingles out it would just hurt the show. The core audience would not accept a new family and the dingles being gone just like that.

Cain did change a lot in the last couple of years and got calmed down. Chaz is alright..

Charity itself ain’t a bad character and the Belle focused stand alone episode from September (which should get a British soap award if it returns lol) was so well done. Charity was so understanding coz of what happened to her. She matured so much. The support belle gets without them being the Dingles we used to know is such good change. Cain would’ve got rid of Tom the second he heard about belles abuse. He really got it together.

i actually like the Dingles 2022-2023 more than in previous years again.
I really believe even if they would take their time and write them out with some effort it would really hurt the show and them ratings which are low already.

I think Don Diamont was fired.

He admitted, in interviews, that he and Al Rabin butted heads a lot

Oh ok.. but it was for the best.. It got him picked up by Y&R later on. Good for him coz his character would not have the longevity on Days like his character over on Y&R if we are being honest.

It looks like once Mascolo agreed to return they hurriedly dropped Tom Hallick.

The first of the rewrites making Megan a Di Mera.

Jed Allan was offered recurring but he refused so that was it for Don.

If he and Bill and Susan had stayed on, I wonder how things would have developed?

They might have been marginalized but they would still have been onscreen and maybe end up being used more at some point.

I was quite surprised though coz in those few months Tom Hallick appeared in 70 damn episodes. He was nearly in every episode lol

i haven’t gotten to Stefano‘s return yet but the last week of Maxwell felt out of character of the hard men that he was. They really wrote him out between 5 episodes lol But I did liked the way Andre and Abigail got rid of him

That‘s a shame about Jed Allen. But hey it was for the better though coz it got him a big gig later on with Santa Barbara where his talent was more used than during what I’ve seen of him in 84. what a waste :( Coz the storylines he had in the 70‘s seemed so exciting. What a letdown.
The break up of Maggie and him was so random and I feel it had to do with Suzanne‘s illness. But the scenes he shared with Kimberly were so amazing and I wish the writers would’ve gone there with them lol

  4. I’ve reache October 12th and the end of Maxwell Heathaway in 1984. I wonder if the actor left on his own or if they axed him coz of Stefanos return next week coming up?

I really love 1984 but the Neil-Liz-Carlo storyline is so boring and I don’t blame Don Diamont for leaving. Can’t wait for this story to be over with. Can’t believe I still have like 10 weeks of it :(

I liked Neil but overall his character has been more dead weight than actually interesting. When Liz left in 1986 Neil became even more boring.. When he finally got a great storyline with Maggie they wrote him off lmao

Don on the other hand had much more potential and was much more settled in. Can’t believe I’m going to lose him in a couple of months :(  Why did the writers give up on Don?

AND if Marlena’s pregnancy in 1984 is not THE LONGEST soap opera pregnancy in history then I don’t know. She has been pregnant for more than 6-8 months. This felt like a real pregnancy lol

  5. The tribute episode made me realize that Emmerdale has the best younger cast currently out of all soaps right now (not just UK Soaps) and the soap itself still has some life in it. They just need to stop dragging storylines out til Christmas.

I really love my Belle and have decided to start a rewatch of 2016 to 2019 with Lachlan and Belle!

2015-2018/19 was such a strong period for this show! It just reminds me that Belle got two psycho‘s :( Lachlan and Tom.. Poor girl can’t catch a break

I'm not sure that many people here except me hate the Dingles either. But on the other hand I have always been very vocal about my loathing for all things Dingle, so maybe that's why it seems like they get a lot of hate here.   :D

Hey I LOVE reading your Dingles rant. Don’t get me wrong there :D

Belle is the only one carrying them and the entire show right now.

I enjoyed them when Cain had an affair with Sadie or when Debbie was with Jasmine. They had some great storylines in the 2000’s til early 2010’s. But I hated them in the 90’s.

Zak was disgusting but he became more humanized and likeable as he got older. I liked Lisa and Zak in their older days.

The tribute episode was well done though.

There was a third brother too, named Raul. He was in the gang with Emilio and ended up holding Kayla hostage at the Community Center. RoJohn had to shoot and kill him, which led to some problems for Carrie and Julio because Julio hated cops as a result of that.

Now I remember. I mean I watched them episodes when I was very young and remember that they were boring and it reminded me somewhat of a Pete Jennings rip off.

Thank you so much @JAS0N47 for the information. Very kind of you.
I did liked Emilio in a way but he felt more like a pretty face than an actual character. Like I said earlier he was likeable but that’s all. I have to admit that I’m a die hard JnJ Fan so that plays a factor in it. I’m biased.

@carolineg wow I didn’t knew he was on the Fame show.

I remember in early 1990 when Sarah was introduced back to the show that Emilio and Sarah were dancing on a professional level and singing. It was funny lol

To be honest, I always thought April was a bit of a dud of a character to begin with.  She didn't leave me with much of an impression.   I can only remember her being an alcoholic and something about her mom's death.  She's better than her brother just not very stand out as a character.

Didn’t she had two brothers or am I mistaken? Emilio and another one but I can’t remember his name.

That whole family was so damn boring. Emilio was likeable I will give him that but was it worth it to drag out the Jack/Jennifer storyline? Hell nah lol

  9. 18 hours ago, DRW50 said:

I remember some fans saying they never liked him with April anyway and preferred him with Robin.

I actually liked Mike and April BUT the thing that really hurt this couple was the Nick angle and that it dragged on for so long. If they would’ve cut that Nick part a bit shorter and gave them a proper relationship it would’ve worked much better.

    3 hours ago, AbcNbc247 said:

I’ve always wondered why Anne Howard Bailey seemed to love Nick so much

I mean he wasn’t bad looking and a decent actor overall.. AND he had chemistry with the cast especially Eve.. Like some said before they tried so hard to work them as the new IT Couple of days

  10. It’s weird that it’s just here that the Dingles get so much hate. When I look at Facebook, Instagram etc. The Dingles seem really beloved.

some even say without the Dingles there is no Emmerdale lol (which I find ridiculous) BUT they are very popular in the UK

Yeah, it was much needed. Junior and Cindy's affair was getting really repetitive and kinda boring. So it was a nice change of pace this week with David getting involved. I didn't see today's episode yet, but I am looking forward to see the continuation of the Wednesday cliffhanger. :)

I wish David was staying longer, I would have been more invested in his character. But he was really fun as a character.

The actor retired from acting so I’m glad he came back and will take whatever HE is willing to give us lol

I don't know why the show highlighted Nick Corelli for so long, especially in 1988 and 1989. I didn't think the actor was that strong, nor his chemistry with his partners that great. When they finally killed him off in late 1990, it was three years overdue; they could have spared us. When they were killing him off, they undid all the "good guy" progress he had made; again, it was like, what was the point.

That’s how I felt about it too. What was the point?

But between the 1989-1992 there were a lot of storylines and abrupt endings to them where u thought: what was the point of caring ?

and about Mike.. I always wondered why they never made him more prominent with a family? I am a die hard Carrie and Austin fan but why not moving on from them and making Carrie and Mike a couple with a family?
everytime I think about Mike it’s only the abrupt exit and his long dragging romance with April and his shirts or the Carrie and Mike thing. Lol

1 hour ago, Liberty City said:

Shame; his recent visit wasn't that bad, but was part of a bad storyline... hoping we can either get Critchlow back, or simply recast the role... again.

I thought when they teased his return that it would be longer. I was so dissatisfied:( but it was good seeing him again

    3 hours ago, Franko said:

They had much more luck when they tried it with Jack & Jennifer.

True! And this was one of the few storylines keeping me glued and Shane’s running around town with amnesia with Rebecca Downey lol only two storylines that I loved of 1989-90 and John/Roman with Isabella

    Thanks!

I guess I’m looking at it through modern day lenses but it does seem kind of creepy that this guy who trafficked a 15 year old girl had any staying power whatsoever.

    Thanks to the replies guys.

i remember when i started Days back then Nick/April/Mike were a thing.

I remember they threw them at us in nearly every episode. when they finally moved on from April and Nick and gave April and Mike their happy end Mike left the show. I was really mad as a child. Like what the actual hell? We waited for April and Mike to happen for so long with the obstacle that was Nick just for Mike to leave so randomly and abruptly? Still doesn’t sit right with me lol

i collect old magazines and I do notice that they were kinda forcing the Nick/Eve pairing on the readers. They did have chemistry I will admit and Nick became a bit more likeable after his villain arc ended.

BUT I’d rather have a pimp like Nick being a romantic lead with staying power over a damn serial killer with a tumor like Ben Weston lol

  14. Phil and Harper’s affair is the longest dragged out affair on shorty that no one actually cares for from the audience. Such a flop!

and that weird and dumb Drew/Nicole thing thrown in didn’t helped either. Ugh

  15. The time jump was such bs. Hollyoaks struggled a lot this year and not just because of reducing the episodes and axing fan favorites.

The JJ-Frankie storyline is as really something “new” for that soap genre and well done. BUT NOW they made the abuser JJ sick so Frankie will struggle to go on to get him behind bars.

I don’t know what they were thinking with this and what they will do with this now but it’s a slap for all fans of that storyline that wanted real justice. I mean do they want us to feel sorry now and redeem that dude that abused his sister? This storyline alone is a reason now for oaks to be cancelled next year lol

Mercedes is sick too. Ugh. Great acting overall and with the right material Jen delivers and shows she can be more than a slapper.

im not really feeling oaks anymore which is a shame

  16. I love this show and enjoy the classic episodes so much right now.

But you can tell that since Covid the writing was definitely on the wall. We got some good stuff here and there but the overall Charme was lost and it felt a bit lifeless.

cant wait to see how they wrap it up this show

  17. Was Nick Corelli popular ? I mean the show intruduced him weirdly during the early 80’s as a pimp and brought him back so randomly in 86. They did have him so many screentime and storylines with Eve + his tumor or whatever illness he had + his triangle with April and Mike.

so I assume he must’ve been pretty popular with the audience?

Now we know what the big surprise was: They brought back Margot Weigel via AI. The actress, Christiane Maybach, died in 2006 at the age of 74. Last week, Margot appeared as a "dream-like" vision to her granddaughter Cecilia. Margot's AI version looked a lot younger than she ever did on the show, though, but she had the same voice.

    hinter-den-kulissen-des-unter-uns-ki-dre

While exploring her family's rich history, Cecilia meets two new characters, Baris and Esma Gülek, who turn out to be her distant relatives. Apparently, back in the 1950s, Margot had an affair with a Turkish gentleman, and thus had a secret 3rd child ...

Özge Delioglan plays Esma, and Metehan Demiröz plays Baris. Both are on contract with the show.

    15D78-2048x1365.jpg

It was about time that the show added some Turkish-German actors, especially since the show has always taken place in Cologne, where there are a lot of people of Turkish origin. In the show's first 3 years, there was Aylin, but that's it.

I just noticed that all 3 RTL soaps currently have one token black character (GZSZ = Flo, AWZ = Imani, UU = Theo). At least all of them have frontburner storylines and are involved in complicated relationships: Flo's boyfriend Jonas has been confined to a wheelchair for nearly a year, Imani's boyfriend Tom is an ex-con, and Theo's girlfriend Britta is a cougar almost twice his age.

This was the most tasteless bs I’ve ever seen on soap operas and they are all in a bad shape. But this was distasteful… I get what they were aiming for but it was just off.
I mean I’ve been to the UU fan event and love this show but this AI thing made me worried.
what if we don’t need actual soap stars anymore and create them all together with AI?

and adding some Margot offspring’s? Ugh

Only time I loved some of the Dingles was during the 2000‘s when Debbie (which I hate normally) in a Lovestory with Jasmine played by Jenna Coleman.
    Charity‘s first exit.
Belle and Lachlan‘s story and belles mental illness.

Belle Dingle is the only Dingle worth keeping

I wish they would’ve built more to the King Family.

i don’t think it’s their actors fault to be honest. But we will never get rid of them coz the people from the UK will always love Cain and the Dingles and vote them as best family at every award show there is

I don't think it's a bad idea if the show got Wayne back.  A Josh Taylor Roman pairing would be useless.  Yes, it's been years, but circumstances change.  I don't exactly mind the idea of Marlena being single for the rest of her time on the show, but it's also a bit ridiculous to put Julie, Maggie, and Marlena out to pasture to be single forever because their on screen partner passed away.  Marlena is the only one of the 3 that has another true love still living so she would be the one I focused on.  I highly doubt that Wayne would ever get re-hired so it's all moot.  It just what I would do if I ran the show.

But why? They rehired him as another character in 05 or 06 if remember correctly..

I vote for Abe as the patriarch.  Not only is it rare for a soap to have a Black patriarch, but Abe is also not compromised by prior sexual relationships.  His adjunct father-figure role with Nicole could easily be replicated with both Holly and Ava.  He is a morally upstanding guy, and he's not a marble-mouth like Roman.

He is Horton-adjacent through Eli.  It would be nice if he and Paulina got a bigger place to live, and holidays could be celebrated at their home.

Gosh I always love hearing Abe talking and giving advice to other characters for years
