  2. Morrow has always been ok, but his screen partners and looks have always propped him up more than his acting ability.

I didn’t mind Clementine’s Mac for about 3-4 months until the writing went off the deep end for the character. I didn’t even mind Kelly Kruger’s Mac at the beginning until she was paired with Ryan Brown and I think she was the issue and not him.   I actually wish they kept Ryan Brown’s Billy around longer. He had chemistry with Jess Walton and the other teen characters.

I thought Liz Huber’s Gwen was very good and had more chemistry with Eric Martsolf than Lindsey Hartman.

Wow! I never thought of a Colleen and Scotty pairing with the natural Traci and Lauren aftershocks. Ahhh. What could have been. Weren't Colleen and Scotty close in age too? Would have been awesome to see a JT/Colleen/Scotty triangle and a great way to have kept the momentum of the 2000s era teens going considering MAB killed the YOUNG in Young and Restless.

I kinda felt Kay Alden started the process of tanking the next generation by killing Mac and Billy. JT and Britney never did it for me as younger lead characters and they were loosely connected to the overall cast.

To the original poster, I do think Jolleen should have been the endgame couple. I think the writers overestimated the appetite for a Mac/JT pairing because they saw Thad as the new “it” guy within the teen scene after Jolleen was successful and thought the fans who were watching during the height of Mac and Billy’s  story would root for him as a replacement for their girl. It didn’t happen and barely anyone cared.  Britney and JT did make sense because in 2000 JT did want Britney. I think the writers should have put them together once Raul left instead of having Britney with Bobby and JT with Mac before eventually reuniting Jolleen.

Both were born on screen, Scotty in March 1991 and Colleen in February 1992.

Y&R did not do a good job in building the next generation. I think inconsistent SORASing played a big part in that.

I kinda blame it on poor recasting and too many regime changes at HW and EP. They also attached too many younger characters like Lily and Billy to people like Victoria and Cane for years. Speaking of SORAS, JT’s Billy is too old.

  4. A lot of people in their 30s-50s are aging slower than their parents. Probably due to most people not having as many kids, smoking education, and better lifestyle practices. Even the 20 year olds on the show  look  younger compared to actors 25 years ago. It’s probably why Kyle and Summer always look like a teen couple rather than adults lol

I wasn't watching when he was on but i have seen some clips of his character, i was surprised when i was watching some 2009 material that he appeared when Mackenzie i guess first came back.

Does anyone know why he was brought back in 09!!

He was brought back to provide angst for fake Mac and Billy and then disappeared. The more I watch old episodes from 2009 the more I detest MAB

I swear to god nothing happens on this show.  The show is just so fricken boring and I really don't care what happens, yet I still watch. . .

Old habits die hard. I tried watching 2 or 3 weeks ago and found myself ready to take a nap about 20 minutes in. Same with Bold. I should be able to watch GH, but I can only get through a few minutes before my mind wanders to something else. Feels like the end of an era.

This show is now written, directed, acted, shot and now looks like [!@#$%^&*]. Cancel it please, God. This horse is dead.

It’s so bad. And Brad is so much better than Josh Griffith, yet seems to not even care about the product he puts out anymore.

This needs to stop. Even the shots with the stand ins are badly edited.

It's not that Eileen's Ashley is a chemistry killer; it's that, as Sally Sussman boldly pointed out in her last run in an actual interview, Eileen-as-Ashley is such a unique force onscreen that it is almost impossible to find a man able to go toe to toe with her and make the pairing feel legitimate - her strongest male pairings are opposite her own bloodline. Sussman supposedly had a plan for that but it never materialized, or if it did (Graham?) people didn't like it. I think she had intended the whole Ravi thing to just be a palate cleanser for Ashley to usher in someone more permanent, but I liked them together period. Sue me.

I agree. Eileen’s Ashley could make any male love interest look small because of her dominant personality. I thought she was fine with Victor and Brad but neither are options anymore. She needs a true alpha male.

The dialogue is weak, dry, generic, and expository. If you’re not going to be telling grand stories or creating visual interest, at least make me laugh or something. Give me some rich character insights. I felt the same about Sussman’s stint. If you’re going to spin wheels, at least make add some razzle dazzle. DAYS (which isn’t fabulous by any means) currently does it far better than Y&R.

At least Days actually resembles a soap opera.

Exactly---Alyssa the reporter, working middle class. We have no cops except Rey, and he's never working.  Mariah could be toiling at ChanceComm. A  great way to integrate some lower middle class character would be through the Clinic.  A nurse or receptionist, a couple of locals that run a nearby diner or work at say Fenmores.  The show needs economic diversity.  How about  a couple of employees at the Grand Penis er Phoenix-- a bellperson, desk employee?

I miss the days of Larry Wharton, Cody, Sean Bridges, Nina, and Raul. Common every day looking people integrated amongst the spoiled brats and high maintenance characters.

I've also always enjoyed the Abbotts more than the Newmans. Sometimes the Newmans feel like the family that ate the show.

As has been mentioned before, the show really needs more characters that aren't filthy rich. We need people who are middle class or social climbers to balance everything.

Right now, almost everyone is super rich.

Oh. I never cared for the Newmans. I always thought the Abbotts were more compelling family especially since the talent of the actors heavily skewed towards the Abbotts. To play a Newman you only have to be ok.
Adam, Nick, and Victoria stay front burner and Billy essentially served as an extension due to awful Villy.

I finally caught up on the show last week.

The Adam and the Adam  needs to move on.

    Dear Josh Griffith:

No one was clamoring for insecure whiner Chelsea to return.  No one.  No one.

It took close to a year to make Sharon a viable character again after the bunch of you (writers) ruined her, and now you have her  constantly back in Adam's orbit. Please stop.

Lola gets a piece of ass and suddenly is more insufferable than when Kyle pursued her. The character has been a wash since her creation.  Why is she never actually cooking?  Just pouting. and whining. and complaining...  I guess Theo didn't scratch the itch......

The pre- shutdown work around the Sharon story was solid. Her support system of Nick, Rey, Faith and Mariah worked, as did the scenes with Jack, Nikki, Summer even Phyllis.  Then it just breaks down to Adam.  I wasn't a fan of Rey, but I've come around a bit.

They should invest in Maria DeDomenico.  The Alyssa character and the actress fill a gap the show has needed to fill-- A person from a middle-class  (not rich), a reporter/investigator.  Plus I think the actress is actually good.

For all the new folks here that dislike Summer as played by Hunter King...  thank Puhney Muhney for the fact that the show won't be letting her go.  If he could have kept his hands and mouth in line, she would have been out for good when she left.  I don't know why these shows insist on marrying off their twenty-something characters like it's a race.

I thought we were finally rid of Tessa, but no.....Jeez, does Mariah have to suck a "D" to make her leave... And who is Cait Fairbanks banging to keep her job?

The Nate-Amanda-Devon-Elena quad has potential.  It's funny that aside from Jared (Michael MacLane) no patients can speak.  Is there a no talking sign in the lobby?  Obviously they can't afford to pay for patients to have lines.

I do like Amanda's interactions around the canvas...  ChanceCom, the Clinic helping with Jared, her friendship with Phallus.  She should have been brought back as Hillary, but I'll take Mishael any way I can.

The Abbotts seem like an afterthought---  appearances every few days.  I'd rather see them than more of "The Newman Show."   I loved the Jack-Jill scenes.  I think the Traci working in town can only help the canvas.  Beth Maitland's scenes with Christel are always wonderful. Find a way to keep ED around-- hire a co-head writer with talent.

Don't give two f*cks about MTS wearing a wig.  Can't blame anyone for wanting less up-close interactions-- or whatever reason.

The Abbotts have been slowly killed or written off since LML/MAB which is the shame because the characters are definitely better Nick, Victoria (since 2005), and Adam. And yes, if I was watching, I would prefer to watch PB,ED, BM than what the Newmans are offering.
I don’t care for Summer and Kyle. I find the characters and their portrayers to be mediocre from the bits I’ve seen of them.  They should marry and write them off the until the show is canceled.
