Tuesday, April 30 US (Mon. April 29 CDN)
Christopher Cousins debuts as Alan Laurent, a psychiatrist and friend of Ashley's from her time in Paris. She referred to him quite often when talking with Traci.  Look for the actor to appear in multiple episodes.

Might be another European soccer partial preemption that day, *if* CBS decides to carry the semifinals.
The semifinals happen Tues. April 30, Wed. May 1st, Tues. May 7, and Wed. May 8.

    Looking at Monday.

    #GH April 15 2024
    Carly updates Jason.
    Tracy receives welcome news.
Sonny meets with Drew. <--- didn't happen yet
John shares his suspicions with Anna.
    Ava continues to snow Nina

Not even considering what happened when but Sonny & Drew haven't met this week yet. The rest has happened just not necessarily on Monday. IOW, you may not want to know this 🙃 but Monday's spoilers were also "wrong".

Thanks! I was thinking of checking it.

I remember GH did lots of rearranging that created five insert episodes in April/May 2020, and it took a bit of research to figure it all out.
Judiciously comparing the spoilers (same as the abc.com episode descriptions) with what actually aired.

In 2020, they were trying to stretch out the already-filmed episodes to air over the COVID break so they broke up episodes and inserted flashbacks and random things to fill the time.

In 2024 it's probably a writing pivot.  Interesting to see what's changed.

As usual, cutting through the confusion. Thanks, Jane!

Well, no, actually, I didn't have the full picture.
Some people who seemed confused elsewhere online,
    were actually right.
They pointed out the spoiler discrepancy.

Thanks to @titan1978 who noted it and posted it.
It seems that the episodes airing 4/16/2024 and 4/17/2024,
were switched in broadcasting in Canada on CityTV.
    BUT ....
The totality of *both* episodes together --
equal what was spoiled for 4/16.
This can be determined from reading the Canada and US recaps for those dates.
Details on the spoiler thread here:
    https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/66455-gh-april-2024-spoilers/?do=findComment&comment=1917601

** Speculation only **  that episode editing happened and split one episode into two, with extra scenes inserted to fill the time or include more character interactions.
This would have created what amounts to an "insert episode".

If (and only *if* ) there was an insert episode, then that would move everything to the next airdate, and Shannon Peace's eppy might be moved as well.

But this speculation might be wrong.
It's possible that there was no "insert episode" --
maybe the episode descriptions released ahead-of-time (the daily spoilers) were wrong.

How to verify if there's a split:

    • whenever dgepress (Disney press site) releases GH episode photos for these episodes.  The episode numbers sometimes show on the photos.  Inserts usually have the letter "A" added to the episode number.
    • or if we check the daily spoiler descriptions and if they continue to be off by one day for several days,  then we know there was an insert that shifted airdates.

What is up with these spoilers?

Laura and Anna come to a mutual realization.
Trina questions Josslyn and Dex about their relationship.
Alexis and Finn support each other.
Brook Lynn and Chase have an honest discussion about money.
    Elizabeth opens up to Gregory.

I just watched Tuesday 4/16 on Hulu and the only thing in the daily spoiler I have seen that was actually used was the Trina, Joss, Dex stuff.

No Anna and Laura, instead it was Jordan and Laura. No Gregory and Liz- Gregory and TJ. No Alexis and Finn at all, or Brook Lynn and Chase.

I read other comments online elsewhere, that similar to yours, so I finally did some digging.
You are right, they split one episode into two episodes, and then added some scenes to one of them.

Analyzing the spoilers for Episode 15448:
    * Laura and Anna come to a mutual realization.
    * Trina questions Josslyn and Dex about their relationship.
    * Alexis and Finn support each other.
    * Brook Lynn and Chase have an honest discussion about money.
    * Elizabeth opens up to Gregory.

    The Trina/Josslyn/Dex scenes...
    aired Tues. 4/16  in US,
and will air Wed. 4/17 in Canada.

That episode also included these unspoiled scenes:
    -- Maxie/Felicia
    -- Laura/Jordan
    -- Sonny/Brick
    -- Jordan/Brick
    -- Sonny/Ava
    -- TJ/Gregory

    These scenes: Laura/Anna, Alexis/Finn,
    Brook Lynn /Chase/money, and Elizabeth/Gregory...
all aired in Canada Tues. 4/16,
and will Air Wed. 4/17 in U.S.

This is verified by the recaps:

This is a *recap* of what aired in US on Tues. April 16,
and will air in Canada on Wed. April 17 to correct the mix-up:
    https://soaps.sheknows.com/general-hospital/recaps/725952/laura-struggles-over-sonny-beating-cyrus/

    This is a *recap* of
what accidentally aired on Canada on Tues. April 16,
and will correctly air in U.S. on Wed. April 17:
    https://soapsspoilers.com/general-hospital/recaps/gh-recaps-april-16-laura-urges-cyrus-seek-justice-sonny

Suspicions that the episode may have been edited after filming and split into pieces?
so maybe there was an "15448" and an "15448A"
    or something like that?
(This has happened in the past occasionally).

If there are 15448s, that might explain how Canada broadcast the two episodes in the wrong order ? ? ?)

As I write this (Wed. morning April 17)

    • Both  episodes are up on Hulu already,
listed as airdates 4/16 and 4/17
but likely with the original scene descriptions from the original daily spoilers.

    • One of the eppys is up on abc.com, listed as 4/16,
with the description originally spoiled for 4/16, which includes scenes that haven't aired.

    • Neither is up on CityTV.com (Canada's network for GH)

It's only theory/speculation at this point, but that would mean that the rest of the daily spoilers already posted would be moved a day, due to the insert?
which that would mean that 15449 would air Thurs 4/18?
This would also explain why Shannon Peace wondered if her final breakdown episode is moved to Thursday 4/18 -- if that's what happens.
    Who knows?

  5. What Shannon Peace said:
    Her three last breakdowns air:
    3rd-to-last: March 27.
    2nd-to-last:  date not listed.
    Final: mid-April.

    Cq0uIKi.png

Shannon's most recent ig post *wondered* (questioned) if her last script would be moved to airdate of Thursday 4/17 due to episodes airing incorrectly this week. But she was confused by what was being tweeted by confused viewers.
SOD said explained that the mix-up was only in the Canadian broadcast.
That should have nothing to do with Shannon's breakdown episode airdate in the USA.

    Per SOD:
    https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/why-canada-got-a-different-general-hospital-episode/
The 4/17 episode mistakenly aired 4/16 in Canada,
but the 4/16 episode aired correctly 4/16 in U.S.
    And..
The 4/16 episode will now air 4/17 in Canada to make up..
but the 4/17 episode will air as it should 4/17 in U.S.
    And..
The 4/18 episode will air in both Canada and US on 4/18, which brings it all back to normal.

Edit - the info came from Nathan Varni:

  6. According to SOD (Link)

On Tuesday April 16, 2024, this happened:
USA got the Tues April 16 episode on ABC,
but Canada got the Wed. April 17 episode on CityTV.

On Wed. April 17, USA on ABC will get the correct Wed April 17 episode,
and Canada on CityTV will get the Tuesday April 16 episode they missed.

That means by Thursday April 18, everyone will be watching the same scheduled episode of GH.

    SOD says:

    — human error.

There was a mix-up and Canada ended up airing Wednesday’s episode. But our friends up north will not miss out on anything because tomorrow, they will get the Tuesday episode, while the U.S. will get the regularly scheduled Wednesday episode.

That means by Thursday, everyone will be watching the same scheduled episode of GH.

    Two amazing episodes!

Victor's memorial & Dick Van Dyke!

No, it wasn't two episodes, it was three.
Fairman said "According to a DAYS spokesperson, the nominated episodes this year for Days of our Lives are #14663, #14678 & #14679,
which revolve around Victor’s death/funeral, and part of Dick Van Dyke’s storyline as Timothy Robicheaux."

    Episode #14663: Friday, August 18, 2023
    Episode # 14678: Thursday, September 7. 2023
    Episode #14679: Friday, September 8, 2023

Ron explained to Michael Fairman that
    DaytimeEmmys writing submissions are two episodes;
but WGA submissions are three episodes.

The first episode was characters learning of Victor's death, Suzanne Rogers 40th anniv, Shawn-Douglas being stressed, Chloe considering Xander's marriage proposal, and Xander learning that Sarah is pregnant.

The second episode was Victor's memorial.

The third episode was mostly about the aftermath of Victor's memorial with Sarah giving birth and Vivian arriving, but also had some John/Timothy scenes.

    Nice soapy history picture.
Marie, Maggie, and Liz all had marriages/affairs with Neil Curtis.

Marlena, Maggie, Liz, and Julie all had marriages/affairs with Don Craig.
Part of me wonders if anyone will address where Don Craig went after he mailed that letter?

But I know the episode needs to be about Doug and Bill Hayes, and not whatever Don Craig info I'm curious about, LOL.

Does anyone know if CBS will air those UEFA matching in 2025? They are pretty frequent in 2024.

It certainly wouldn't help TG if it's pre-empted in the MT/PT time zones two days a week over several months after it's launch. Just sayin'

I was just coming here to ask that!
This is the third year in a row they've followed this schedule for UEFA (European soccer):

    • Four dates in February for "round of sixteen, first leg".

    • Two dates in March for "round of sixteen, second leg".
      (There are four matches in March for round of sixteen;
but only two of the March matches air on CBS broadcast TV.)

    • Four dates in April for quarterfinals.

    • A few dates in late April and/or early May for semi-finals.

Same thing, three years in a row.

CBS has the contract for UEFA through 2030!

In my opinion, it would be helpful if the CBS soap people and the CBS sports people would talk with each other.  The first year, B&B and Y&R tweeted out notices that if you live in an affected timezone, to watch the soaps on the soccer dates via another channel/time or online.  I think B&B even tried to tweet out alternate channels and overnight times in Feb. 2022.  But last year and this year, they didn't bother.

What gets me, is that every year,
CBS soaps do silly little promotional videos
for NFL (American football) and March Madness basketball.  Especially Joshua Morrow and Michelle Stafford joking around about what teams are playing.  Usually some B&B actors do similar sports promos.  These are well-coordinated.  And then CBS sports or the NFL retweets them, so it's a true cross-promotion.  Sometimes they do two different NFL/soaps cross-promos, one at start of season and the other for the Super Bowl.

But the soaps don't acknowledge the soccer at all.  And the networks don't acknowledge that the soaps are affected.  I mean ... you know Eric Braeden used to play soccer.  Couldn't he do a fun promotion?
But no.   CBS soccer and CBS soaps don't acknowledge that each other exist.
The NFL and basketball sports/soaps cross-promotions have been going on for years.  There hasn't been a *separate* "CBS Daytime" division since Angela McDaniel left, -- daytime is part of the greater whole now -- but the pattern was already in place for NFL and basketball so those promotions continued.

I don't mind the soccer preemptions in some timezones, but it's ridiculous that the soaps don't acknowledge it, and it's up to messageboards to let people know.

Oh and remember Clarence of "Clarence Updates"?
He wanted to be on Y&R for the 50th, but he had to approach CBS execs because nobody approached him. Why is that?  He had to initiate it, and then he appeared at end of December 2023.
    https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-brad-sanders-on-bringing-clarence-back-to-the-young-and-the-restless/
“One of the radio stations said, ‘Look, man, you need to be a part of the 50th anniversary. You should be there!’ And I said, ‘Yeah, let me call!’ So I called [Vice President, Daytime Programs, CBS] Margot Wain and she called [Director at CBS] Danielle Unger and they were like, ‘Yeah, it sounds great!’ And they set it all up.”

So there *are* people who can get things done.  Can they help with coordinating with soccer?
I'd really like to see this fixed before The Gates debuts!

    /end rant
