It's amazing that you're able to recreate that!

Haha thanks! The arrangement on this cue was relatively simple compared to the cues that had basically a full blown orchestra, but still takes a bit of time considering I'm horrible at the piano. 😅

@ChickenNuggetz92 I don't think that music cue was on the 1998 soundtrack.

11.3 AM is my favorite track on the 1998 soundtrack. Whenever that played on the show, we knew something dangerous and forbidden with consequences was about to take place

Ahh just checked the back cover of the soundtrack, "3 A.M." gives me Grace going after Nick and Tricia kissing Tony vibes! 😄

The one I re-composed was introduced in 2001 during the Raul diabetes storyline, so it wouldn't have been on the 1998 soundtrack.

Ah thank you! Had a google, it seems to be Windows based, no wonder I'd never heard of it...this house has Apple everything LOL

I use OBS Studio + Blackhole Audio Driver for Mac! It a little bit of a learning curve to set up but super easy once you get used to it. It's what I used when I was capturing the Y&R classics last year when they weren't posting them on CBS right away.

Now that Ingo's mess is public and Cassadra has been interviewed on TV. the show finally tweets this.

Oof the Facebook grandmas commenting on this post are really something else. I've always why such a large part of the soap fanbase always leaned ultra conservative. Maybe it's just me but I don't see this kind of pushback from shows of other genres.

With the character's history Wikipedia is kind of confusing on the matter so if I may ask, what is Carly's maiden name considered to be?

Her legal name is Caroline Benson (Carly Roberts is the alias she used when she first came to PC, after her presumed dead best friend), but even when she splits with whatever man she's with at that time, she tends to keep their last name until necessary.

Also, seeing those scenes between Katie, Rocco, Donna and Mark at the Dance Factory and they played Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston, one after another, proves what I have been saying all along-- streaming allows for the use of popular music, as long as copies not being being sold commercially.

Whatever else is being said about music rights being used as an excuse not to stream old episodes of soaps is bullsh*t. Just say you don't care about soaps and go. It's why, for years now, I have been saying that it makes more sense to stream, rather than sell DVDs of classic soaps. The issue is lack of interest, rather than music rights.

Music rights in television production is much much more nuanced than this take. The B&B team has the advantage of using YouTube as a platform to stream these episodes for free. YouTube's music detection software takes care of deciding whether or not that particular episode can or cannot be monetized for ads, and if B&B takes home the revenue stream for that episode. At the end of the day, B&B is not doing any extra backend administrative work to make this happen - it's YouTube due to its automated processes. And it's worth repeating that Brad Bell owns B&B, unlike Y&R and DOOL (owned by Sony with CBS and NBC), and GH (owned by ABC Disney), so he has far more control how he can distribute the shows, and there isn't a media entity making the decisions.

Moreover, music licensing becomes a huge problem if licensed music on shows not only airs on Television, but is on a platform whose business platform is primarily behind a monthly paywall (Paramount+, Hulu, Netflix, Disney+), because it can be argued that they are profiting off another artists' work. Music directors also need to submit what is called a Cue Sheet. The short of it is, it aggregates all music used and TBTB decide on the rights and distributions and whatever comes with all that. Here's a link that can explain it better. Mike Dobson of Y&R had to do this will all episodes of Y&R classics that aired last year had to create a report of this for each episode. Lots of politics behind this process, but at the end of the day it's not because they don't care. It's because there are so many legal processes and intricacies and blurred lines where this is involved, it's better to err on the side of caution as opposed to potentially getting sued by a record company.

  6. I'm a little confused about Brooke's disdain for Deacon this time around. Deacon was around back in 2014-2016 and managed to form something of a relationship with Hope and mend fences with Brooke and they were all in a better place for the most part.... Are they pressing the reset button on that the way they did with Sheila by overlooking their previous stints just a few years ago?

I don't want to speak for SJB and I can't remember the details but she did say she was dropped from Cold Case and it had to do with Les Moonves and issues with her ex.  I want to say there is a thread archived on here about it.

For those who have an appetite for a 2.5h interview, SJB talks about the issues surrounding her career and her ex which gets very honest and very raw. CW: Sexual Assault, Grooming, etc.

Is this score used anymore? I can't understand why this piece was never released to fans.

Per Mike Dobson, this cue is called "The Hunt", which was used often used not only for Victor when it was introduced in 1999, but also quite frequently in the Megan/Tony storyline. I think this was the last time it was used.

Lol! But, seriously, how "discreet" do we need to be about the Vault? I can't help but feel it's almost too good to be true, and wonder if it is truly safe or could get taken down like those old episodes on Youtube, so I am very hesitant to spread the link outside this forum.

I don't mind having the Vault shared - in fact, it opens up more opportunities for potential contributors! It's part of the reason why I had the idea of purchasing a OneDrive business account - to break down the cost barrier of accessing these episodes and making them more accessible to soap enthusiasts. Additionally, because OneDrive isn't primarily a video streaming/sharing platform like YouTube, it is much less likely to be flagged by the copyright police.

That being said, depending on the mode of communication, use your judgment. As long as there aren't potential powers that be that are lurking in Soap social media groups, sharing the link is completely fine. On the other hand, it might not be the best idea to directly provide the link on the B&B official YouTube channel in the comments - Casey Kasprzyk is very active on that account so really Gilson is just shooting themselves in the foot. But if you want to deter commenters from purchasing episodes from Gilson in a discreet manner, just do something along the lines of "I can provide access to the same episodes for free, unlike Gilson. PM me for details via (insert platform)".

Also, Gilson seems to be quick at deleting my comments LOL so don't directly reply under him.

Our 'lovely Gilson Serafin' is now posting on a soap group on FB about how he has Y&R episodes from 1998 and 1999.

No prizes for guessing where he got them from.

You can always do the following:

Gilson Seraphim: I have Y&R 1998-1999, pm me for details.

    And respond with the following:

"Or you can access them here for free *paste vault link*"

    It's a sure-fire deterrent.

    Episode 1997 - Sheila & Lauren’s infamous Jacuzzi fight.
This is the best quality I have seen of this fight anywhere.

To piggy back off this, there was an another clip of this scene uploaded years ago on YouTube that I can't seem to find anymore - but during the jacuzzi fight, there was an alternate cut that showed Lauren underwater going directly to breathe air from the jets while Sheila was trying to drown her. Would that cut have been shown on Episode 1998 or was it only available in select countries?

Sonny sat on his ass for months and didn't do anything to find out who he was.  Jax brings the truth and he runs from it because he wubs Nina?  Now they are writing Sonny to be pissed with Nina?  This better be the initial reaction and initial reaction ONLY!

Ditto. I didn't like OG recipe Sonny but I found MB infinitely more fascinating to watch as Mike, and I was hoping and still hoping that there's traces of Mike in him.

I also adore Cynthia Watros as Nina, but it's going to take a lot to write her out of the corner she's been backed into.

BTW: Just because we don't send you enough praises anymore, be assured that we all are eternally grateful for your idea and dedication to create and make THE VAULT work. I just had to mention it again. For years we felt spoilt by some generous souls on this board sharing multiple uploads on YouTube which were then taken down, pirated etc. Now it's just a labor of love to be able to relive all those classic episodes of B&B and Y&R - thanks to your idea and efforts.

Aww shucks, I'm so happy of the activity that the Vault is getting thanks to so many resourceful members of the community, without them the vault would be nothing!

I would like to give a special shoutout to @BoldRestless for always keeping an eye on it for me when life gets too busy. I couldn't do it without them or all of you!

  14. There were a few women in the turn of the new millennium that I suspect had blepharoplasty (Eileen Davidson between 1999-2000 and Hunter Tylo somewhere between 1998-1999).

I've mentioned this on the B&B thread a while back, but the most noticeable blepharoplasty was probably Katherine Kelly Lang in late 2001, along with mild skin tightening. The below images were both taken between July/August 2001.
