  1. BTG was mentioned on SNL. They said this is the white version of the show lol:
  2. i know.... It's a compliment to how young she looks😁
  3. Friday was good. Loved the cliffhangers. New Dollar Bill is a great villain. His mistress is puzzling though. Does she really expect everyone to have sympathy for her or is this just an act? I got flashes of Katherine Chancellor when Dani begged for Bill to stay with her. But then she turned into Stephanie Forrester: she knows her man is no good, and won't hesitate to call him out, but she still wants him. As the old saying goes: Don't let a man tell you he doesn't want you more than once. Even Bill *the master gas lighter* told her to have some pride. I'm still puzzled as to why the entire family went to that wedding. Kara Mosley looks so young, Nowhere near her 40s, so it was surprising to see Dani with full blown grown children. Speaking of great black villains I would love to see the Rj Gannon actor make an appearance on BTG.
  4. @te. I agree and I think your assment was fair. It is the first new soap in a quarter century so people are understandably protective of this going well --- especially amid all the undue hate the show gets. It's OK for some people to say was one of the greatest first weeks ever and it's also OK to say think that viewpoint is an exaguration. As long as contrasting options are delivered fairly and respectfully and not dismissive of others, I'm okay😄 Again, Im a huge cheerleader for BTG, but I think it's fair to express what's working/not working from one's POV.
  5. I just don't see that. BTG's intro was okay. I'm torn on this subject. Cancelled soaps coming back is an understandable thought in this era of reboots. On the other hand old soaps have long-established plot lines and characters and new audiences may not be able to keep up with all of the past exposition (assuming Soap audiences are growing, and it's not just the niche crowd who still watches). Moreover, several of the actors and producers who made the soaps great have died. Nothing lasts forever, even the greatest soaps grow stale after 30+ years. Perhaps the best move is to start new soaps like BTG. I read that Sheila was sent to B&B for that exact reason, because she had gone to far on Y&R to remain on canvas. IIRC Bell also was adamant about villains paying.
  6. Name in the credits, Kurth Farquhar, Instantly recognized him from The Parkers and other UPN sitcoms. I can definitely hear his early 2000s influence in that closing theme. Agree. When I say slow, I mean a new soap needed to start big with a sweeps event. In many ways this was a decent, old school, slower paced pilot episode. On par with the pilot episodes of today's soaps from back in the day. Like General Hospital starting with a woman recovering from a car accident and slow interactions between doctors is good in 1963. IMO today, GH would need to come out of the gate hot with something like Jason's accident, Or Monica giving birth and saying Rick is AJ's father, or something long dramatic and drawn out like the metro court crisis. Something that grips you from the beginning, and when the show eventually slows down at least you've been established with the characters. I want BTG to succeed. I Had to fire off again some of it's racist detractors in some chat groups. But I want to BTG to do it well.
  7. I would say BTG definitely has the best production of the daytime soaps (B&B has the best lighting however). I also wonder how they are sustaining this level of sets and production. I will certainly be in the minority here, my only gripe is that BTGs plot lines are a little slow, and some of the supporting cast actors sound unnatural, like they are reciting lines. Especially in this day and age where there's so much to watch, I think they needed to come right out of the gate like it was sweeps month. General Hospital is not well written, but I feel slightly more gripped by the plots. But it's just the beginning, the BTG will continue to grow. I really hope this is successful and leads to other soaps.
  8. Finally got to watch only the second daytime soap opera premier in my lifetime! What worked for me: Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis, and Nicole. Bill the cheater, his new woman and Kara Mosley. I'm interested to see Bill scheming. We need a powerful antagonist. The sets were great! What didn't work for me: -the younger black couple (Naomi and the guy) and the younger white couple. They just felt like extra weight. -pacing: it felt a little slow, I think this would've worked better as a 30 minute show but we're well past that now. Overall it was just the first episode, interested to see where this goes, this is definitely better than B&B. Suggestion for the opening, to familiarize the audience with character names, put it above the actor names. Example:
  9. New Brennan lacks the OG's charisma. No Curtis, if you're going to kick Drew out, kick Willow out as well. It takes two to tango, don't just give Willow a pass because she is Michael's wife.
  10. Maybe CBS thought of this already but it would be smart to air reruns on BET and make this show avalible on BET+. Can't wait for Monday! Regarding the intro It's not terrible, the theme is okay. It just needs something more grand, catchy and classic like Y&R or DAYS had. This has a generic power point presentation underscore feel to it. It's amazing as time went on, and technology advanced, soap intros looked more amateurish such as GH's openings since 2010, and Y&R's 50th anniversary open. ATWT's 2007 theme was really good but the visuals sucked!
  11. I like that they had Sheryl Underwood there eto in her words "pass the baton" from The Talk to BTG. Fitting in that soap fans were sour during the transition from ATWT to The Talk. As someone said Y&R does not deserve to be #1. GH sucks but at least things happen!
  12. I almost feel like Alan and Monica Quartermaine should be added to that Super couple list. Alan's death quickly equaled reduced story for Monica.
  13. Exactly. In January would've made for a better sweeps month because it was so much more exciting. Exactly. I agree the age gap is weird in that Jason "slept" with a girl who slept with Jason's nephew whom he held as a child. From the standpoint of a woman in her early 30s messing with a guy in his mid-50s, (who looks like he's 45) wasn't that crazy to me.
  14. It would be cool if those encore episodes were anything before 2009. Instead it's the same poorly written ish from 2-3 years ago. Why does Y&R show classics and not B&B?
  15. The age thing is not so much an issue for me as the rehashing history. Cody is the worst. I haven't seen a soap plot driven by misunderstanding like this in a while.
  16. So how many times in history is Jason going to pretend to be someone’s baby father? This will eventually lead to Jason and Sasha dating. I’m not sure. Sasha is a great answer to his relationship with Britt.
  17. 2025 has been a great time for classic soap discovery, and we're getting the launch of a new so this month!!!
  18. A lot of Classic clip compilation videos are coming out about Monica since Leslie Charleson's passing. This was a cool look at her relationships with Jason and AJ as kids This one features years of her scenes with Tracy from their first scene together to their last.
  19. Yes! He's in almost every Pinkerton scene. I'm finally growing to appreciate Pinkerton's portrayal. That I love how cold and calculating she is. Dear I say I might like her more than the great Robin Strasser. There was a thread about day and night in soaps, and I noticed how rapidly 70s OLTL advances time. You could go from one day to the next in a single episode.
  20. THIS IS MY QUESTION ASWELL!!! I am so confused🤣🤣🤣
  21. Yeah, that's why I hadn't mentioned her. She was listed as a fill-in.
  22. I also think the inflated cost of living which keeps young people at home longer infantilizes our perception of young people in their mid-20s and early thirties. But just like Laura on GH, Viki (and this Dorian) on OLTL were dressed very mature for their ages. Im so far loving Pinkerton's portrayal. She has a very old Hollywood/primetime quality about her acting. I don't think there was a single week actress to play Dorian. Pinkerton,Malis, Strasser and Princi were all superb.
  23. Apparently Nancy was only 35 in that 1975 episode!!! She and Erika Slezac looked very mature for their age. 30 something characters on soaps today act alit more juvenile...thinking back to Natalie on OLTL or Abby on today's Y&R.
