Richard Bekins is by far my favourite Jamie. His Jamie was passionate, stubborn, headstrong and at times messy. He had amazing chemistry with Connie Ford (Ada), Doug Watson (Mac) and especially Vicky Wyndham (Rachel). The show should have moved heaven and earth to get him back. I thought Larry Lau was fine most of the time and definitely a hell of a lot better than that generic, pretty boy with limited range Russell Todd.

From Anne Howard's We Love Soaps interview. https://www.welovesoaps.net/2014/05/catching-up-with-anne-marie-howard-ex.html NA: Killing Jason Frame felt like it was out of left field for some fans. Did it seem that way to you? AMH: There were clues, intentional red herrings devised by the writers, that pointed to every one of us who had been in the mirrored funhouse where Jason Frame was killed. It could have been any one of us and kept the viewers trying to guess who killed Jason Frame. Our new executive producer, Michael Laibson, called me into his office and told me if it turned out to be Nicole who killed Jason that it meant I'd be leaving the show earlier than initially planned. He wanted to know how I felt about that since I had a signed a three year contract and had only been there for two years. Since Nicole was the least likely suspect, I thought it was exciting to be the chosen one and that it would make for a shocking and dramatic story line. I also felt ready to move on and was looking forward to getting back onstage again.

I stopped watching Days about 6 months ago because all of Ron's worst tendencies had taken over the show. I started watching again the day Doug died and enjoyed the last week of episodes. Today reminded me why I stopped watching. I like the cast but the writing is horrible. I will tune back in at Christmas then stop watching again until the episodes written by the new team starts airing.

B&B: Will we see another head-writer of the show in our lifetime?
I keep hoping one of Bill Bell's grandchildren has inherited his talent and is waiting in the wings to take over for Brad,

Days need to sign Stephen Schnetzer to a long term contact ASAP. He is a popular actor and Steven Olsen is an original character and a member of the Horton family. WIth the recent deaths of John Aniston, Bill Hayes and Drake Hogestyn an older learning man is needed to help fill the void. I would also like to see Maree Cheatham stick around on a recurring basis. She still has it!

Since we have been chatting about Margaret DePriest here is an interview with her regarding her plan for AW in 1986. It is interesting that Donna Swajeski is also interviewed as an NBC exec. I understand the desire to refocus the show on 3 families but all 3 families ended up being mainly filled with recasts and 3 popular families (Matthews, Ewings, Hardings) were completely written out. I wonder if they would have come up with a different plan if they had know they would lose Anna Stuart, Stephen Schnetzer, Julie Osburn, Kathleen Layman, Ellen Wheeler and Tom Eplin all in a matter of months.

In my opinion Donna Swajeski had 2 really good years and rebuilt & stabilized the show after Margaret DePriest gutted it. 1989 was amazing partly because she followed a plan developed by Harding Lemay. Anna Stuart returned, the 25 anniversary episodes were great, Iris and Rachel were front and centre, Anne Heche was lighting up the screen and the Matthews were back albeit briefly. 1991 was must see. Vicky & Ryan, the returns of Kathleen McKinnon and Carl Hutchins, Sharlene’s split personalities, the fallout of “Who Shot Jake?” and the introduction of Lorna Devon.
