EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I just revel in the Ben hate! I love the character for all the wrong reasons, mainly because he gets under the skin of so many!

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
I think that can be solved if they air better commercials and do better promotion for the storylines on the show, particularly when they're about to climax.

Who is Jackie? I known there's a Jacqui, though.

Thanks for posting, dannigold! Scheduling news. EastEnders will be airing on Wednesday June 9, but won't be airing on Friday June 11 due to the World Cup. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/scoop/a221843/soap-schedules-world-cup-week-1-wc-june-7.html

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I don't mind the new opening too much, but it just seems like they screwed with the theme and it's not matching the visuals well at all.

Well, at least it looks like the show is staying above the million mark again in viewers (for now).... http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/news/a221873/soaps-ratings-roundup-may-25.html

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Apparently, EastEnders will be clashing with Britain's Got Talent all next week, and the week after is the World Cup, so some strange and lower ratings are expected for the next two weeks...

Stacey stabbing that blow up chair Mo got her while Heather was sitting on it in Tuesday's episode.  The Stacey and Ryan scenes in the Vic were kind of good too. Ryan: Yeah, she [Mo] reckons I look like Burt Reynolds... Stacey: I don't see it, I told her you look more like James Dean. Ryan: You think so? Stacey: Yeah ... after the accident. I actually didn't mind Whitney and Leon today... I assume these episodes were taped just a few weeks ago as Lacey is sporting the same hair she had at the British Soap Awards...

I hope Lucy gets better development too, she has potential to be the next Janine and the main teen vixen/anti-heroine on the show. There's so much potential there. With Stacey soon gone, they're going to need a young female character that's epic.

It's funny that Kirkwood is getting rid of both Zsa Zsa and Leon soon too. I bet if Santer had stayed, they would have been the new "stars" of the teen set. He seemed very content with both characters. Mercy was the only one with any promise on E20, so I don't mind them developing her more, which I guess saves Fatboy some time...

Spoilers and pics from next week's HORRIFIC teen week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/eastenders/2010/05/picture-gallery-wc-31-may-2010.shtml The only thing I'm looking forward to next week is next Friday's episode with the start of the Kirkwood era and Vanessa's entrance. Also, though the Pat/Peeggy stuff is a bit ridiculous, I'm looking forward to the location stuff around London...

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I always thought people tended to underrate Jessie Wallace as an actress because of how "big" of a character Kat was and how "brassy" she could be. I don't think Kat would have come as alive with another actress, Jessie was just meant to play this role. John Yorke is very fond of her, too, and Charlie Brooks as well. My girls. http://www.walfordweb.co.uk/item.php?id=2216

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The two episodes she came back for will air in August or something... Allegedly, some big things are planned for late summer/early fall. Which is about right, a lot of Santer's stuff doesn't end until September, and by then, Kirkwood's fingerprints should be all over the show.

Ashdown very rarely writes an episode anymore, unless it's something huge. He's the story consultant on the show now. I think he said Stacey and Max were his favourite characters, and their affair storyline was his idea.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
It should be interesting to see how Dominic works with Kirkwood. They'll be a change in the way things play out on-screen, there always is. Santer had many good qualities that I don't think people are keen to acknowledge often, but I never thought he properly understood story and how to craft serial drama. I think a lot of the story problems and failure of the basics were down to him during his tenure.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Apparently, the Vanessa Gold character is Simon Ashdown's brainchild, so, I wonder if he'll see that much care is poured into her development. and Kirkwood did say he "loves" working with Ashdown.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The Wicks just seemed very poorly thought out and planned... The Mitchell sisters could easily be written out and I don't think it would make much of a difference. I don't really think Ronnie and Roxy add that much to the show, or at least haven't since early 2008.

I wonder if we'll be getting a new family somewhere along the line. It seems like a new family is the mark of almost every new producer...

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
 I wonder what Tanya will think of Vanessa when she returns... Kirkwood has axed many useless characters, but so far, the only new characters he's created are Vanessa and her daughter, in addition to Kat and Alfie returning. I wonder if we'll be getting anymore new characters or returns. It seems strange to axe so many people and not bringing in more people in their place. But maybe they're going after a smaller canvas? Santer seemed to keep everyone, no matter how useless they were.

A pic of Max and Vanessa. I think Jake Wood and Zoe Lucker look quite nice together...

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
Newt is still there, and he's no longer the goth-type he used to be. He and Ste work at that diner place the last I saw of them. They were both after some girl. Marquess is getting rid of him soon though, though Nico claims he wanted to leave... Lucy Allan screwed a lot of these characters up and altered them beyond recognition...
