Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
The show seems to be improving ratings-wise again, it's been above the million mark all week long this week... http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/news/a222397/soaps-ratings-roundup-may-27.html Very strong ratings for EastEnders on both BBC1 and the repeat on BBC3, too...

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Or maybe they're doing some web-based spin-off? The world "expanding" can be taken different ways, I guess. It could be about moving too, Emmerdale was announced to be moving to a new set since 2008 and was supposed to go to HD the same time Corrie did, but it didn't work out that way... Or maybe it's just nothing news again.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
According to Nicola Murray (Emmerdale's Publicity Manager), some BIG news is going to be released by midnight (UK time).... Hopefully, it's something interesting this time...

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
It was announced in 2008 that Emmerdale (or Emmerfail ) would be moving to a new studio by 2011 and would be broadcasting in HD by sometime in 2011. http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/multi-platform/news/itv-productions-invests500k-in-emmerdale-hd-upgrade/757810.article However, this article says that Emmerdale's transition would run parallel to Coronation Street's, which isn't true, since Corrie is going HD soon, and we still have no official word on Emmerdale's timeline. So, this deal could have fallen through over the past two years... As the Digital Spy article said, "Similar plans for Emmerdale have yet to be announced by the commercial broadcaster."

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I would guess they will gradually start to refurbish some of the sets for the HD transition over the summer, and by the autumn, there will be almost little set work left. However, there could always be an explosion in there...

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Wow, finally. I know they've been wanting to broadcast in HD for a while, but there's always been some problems with the sets (which have needed to be revamped for HD). Glad to hear it's happening soon.

Peter seemed to be more accepting of Leon when he found out Lucy aborted the baby and lied about her miscarriage.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
It was just filler, but aren't they always? I think a few weeks ago at R&R, Leon mentioned something to Peter about putting that whole Zsa Zsa secret admirer crap behind them.

Michelle Ryan thinking her career is hot sh!t again. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a222138/ryan-enders-return-is-not-for-me.html Not that I care for her to return, but with Kat back soon, it would make some sense for Zoe to come back. I hope they do eventually recast Zoe.

Why is Abi acting like Jordan is her damn husband in Thursday's episode? Janine reciting Biblical passages to Lucas. I enjoyed the Stacey and Ryan scenes. And glad Ben went to Ian with this problems, not Phil.

I guess these are the spoilers from Kirkwood's first full week. Glad we're seeing more of Denise, and the walls beginning to close on Danny.

I think he just tweaked the main storylines, like the flashforward crap, and nothing else, since those main stories and their aftermath would be bleeding into his regime.

He said in an interview that he changed Calvin's murderer to Teresa, so he must have been tweaking some things to set up his ultimate vision for the show when it finally starts airing.

New opening credits too on July 5th! He really let Allan's sh!t play out, as UK LAW predicted. Hollyoaks must have also been written SO FAR in advance, in comparison to other UK soaps. Bryan Kirkwood only started on EastEnders on March 1st officially, and we'll see his name in the credits there next Friday. Marquess started on Hollyoaks in early January and we'll have to wait until July 5th to see his name in the credits.

Jennifer Metcalfe looks like a stick figure, she's so skinny and lean, I think she could break in half any moment. I liked Steph's hair in the E4 episode. Jem would be more interesting if she looked like this:

Yes, apparently. She told Cheryl as much months ago... I hope Gilly/Steph are a short-term thing, I see nothing there.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I've liked the fun side of Janine with Ryan over the past few months, but Santer and team have largely misunderstood the character. I don't know if she'll ever go back to who she was in the early 00's... I think she could again, if she finds out Stacey's baby is Ryan's and feel threatened for a while. It could lead to some type of desperate breakdown. they need to stop playing Janine for laughs though, she and her self-destructiveness need to be taken more seriously. Maybe she needs to push someone else off a cliff or go back to prostitution?- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I hated Laura, so I really loved it when my girl Janine would get under her skin and revel in it, like in this clip: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kWdSe6cXdc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kWdSe6cXdc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kWdSe6cXdc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I'm watching clips of Sharon's 2001 return. I just LOVED the way it was handled, and the look on Peggy's face when she realized that Sharon had bought the Vic. My PBS station was airing Sharon's final year or so of her original stint at the time, so I knew the character, and I was watching the show in near real time on BBC America at the time. So, I knew who Sharon was, but I didn't know at the time she was returning, so it really shocked me when she was the new owner of the Vic then. Can we get rid of Ronnie and Roxy and bring Sharon back, PLEASE!!! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5fgTHytp4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5fgTHytp4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5fgTHytp4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I wonder if they plan on bringing Amira back at some point when Preeya's music career undoubtedly flops. Preeya's said as much in interviews. Have you heard her first single "Shimmy?" I don't like it, but I'm not fond of Bhangra-pop. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3yhIRHDf0A&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3yhIRHDf0A&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3yhIRHDf0A&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Their story is pretty much over anyway, with the reveal already done, and Christian and Syed separated for now. All that's left is Syed's crappy "how to make myself not gay" story, which I hope is just brushed over at some point.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I wonder how much of that was down to Patridge's commitment to Over The Rainbow, he had to miss the BSA's because of that. But I'll gladly do without Christian and Syed, they need to be rested, for a long time. - Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
