EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I disagree, if anyone deserved it, it's her, or at least Lacey, having carried some ludicrous material over the past 6 years. She handled everything that was thrown her way. Some can claim otherwise, but no character has been the face of the show over the past 5 years more than Stacey. Yes, she suffered from some terrible writing, but Lacey/Stacey has a big hold on the British audience that few soap stars/characters do in the UK anymore. But again she already had Julia's Theme this year, so she might not get it on her exit.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I wonder if Stacey will get Julia's Theme on Saturday with her exit (yes, the show is airing on X-Mas day as it always does). The last time Julia's Theme played on the big X-Mas episode was apparently 1992. Then again, they've used Julia's Theme so much this year, Stacey already had one when Lily was born, and if she gets it with her exit it will be the first time a character gets it twice in the same calendar year.

She's cute. There's been rumblings about a new family joining in the new year. I wonder if she's part of that.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Becky is burnt out as a character and has been annoying for a while now. Kim Crowther did a good job of shoving that character down everyone's throats. I do love Katherine Kelly though. I don't know if that article is true though, it sounds like speculation.

Lynne slapping the hell out of Janine towards the end of the scene. I really wish the scene of Lynne chasing Janine with the frying pan in the cafe was up. And one of the beginning scenes with Pauline and Janine. Pauline: What's up with you?!?! Janine: I'm lookin' at you ::blunt expression::  <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ope9DIU-H8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ope9DIU-H8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ope9DIU-H8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> I loved Janine's little line to Zoe too before her slap, "Yeah, well at least this little slapper got Jamie Mitchell! I mean YOU CAN'T EVEN PRIZE HIM AWAY FROM A LITTLE SADDO(?) LIKE SONIA!" I miss Lynne too, I think the last time I enjoyed the atmosphere at the cafe was when she was there. She fits the place a lot better than Bianca, Ian, or Jane IMO. Kat should call her big sister to come back and be a barmaid at the Vic...

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I don't remember any scenes with Dot and Jim in her last visit, though I could be wrong. I very rarely group Sonia (and Robbie at times) with the other Jackson's. Jim raised her for most of her life, so to me, he's her real parental figure. Didn't Sonia's last name came to be referred to as Branning for a time too? I mean the show wouldn't even mention Carol when Sonia as a teenager gave birth to a child that was taken away from her. Jim was there for her through most of the important experiences in her life. I did actually hear though that John Yorke had wanted Lindsey Coulson back in 2000 and Yorke and Coulson are actually close friends, but she vowed to never return after her '99 exit. I don't think Pat and Janine could ever really stay away from each other. I still think Pat sees her younger self, as well as Frank's destructive traits in Janine, which is why she'll never be able to stay away, as well as Janine being her only real daughter-figure. Though, Pat is a bit of a hypocrite, as she was more than happy too see Janine thrown in jail for Laura's death a few years ago, when she knew Janine didn't do it. Though, I guess she was more pissed about Janine's involvement in Barry's death. I still think those final scenes between Janine and Pat when Charlie left in 2004 were some of Brooks and St. Clement's best scenes on the show.

I knew something was up when it was announced that Natalie Cassidy was narrating the Revealed special on Stacey. Hopefully it's just a very short visit. I at least hope they remember that Sonia is very close to Dot and Jim, more so than she is to Carol and Bianca (who seem to be the main focus of her visit). Where are Martin and Rebecca? Not that I miss them, but kind of sad that the only one returning with the Fowler last name is Sonia...

The BBC has done two specialty videos with Stacey to promote her exit I guess. One is narrated by Stacey/Lacey, and the other is a montage of clips from her 6 years on the show: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ3igorBayw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ3igorBayw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ3igorBayw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywzm8CY5NDk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywzm8CY5NDk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywzm8CY5NDk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Most of the storylines going on now are still remnants of the Santer era, and really, most of the problems have been there for quite a while. The new Story Producer has only been there for two weeks, so I assume we have to give it time to see what she can come up with and when her actually material that she's overseen from the start will hit the air. As Ben mentioned, the show isn't atrociously bad and is still watchable, but some of the pacing, continuity, and character motivation could be sorted out better. Maybe it will when the transition settles down, who knows? As I mentioned in the other thread, I think the show only poured planning and resources into the Live episode this year, and it's really hurt everything and a lot of the characters since then (like Stacey).

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
The hype of the anniversary week and live episode will end, and then what's left? The live episode caused a lot of destruction for the 40th anniversary in 2000. Many claimed it took the show a while to recover after it, since they poured so many resources into it and didn't plan in the long-term for much else. EastEnders suffered the same fate this year when they only planned for the live episode and not much else after it, and it will take the show a while to recover from it. I think Corrie will probably face the same problem again with the longterm aftermath of it all.

EEClipz made this video detailing Kat and Ronnie's histories in preparation for the upcoming storyline: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=956YLXYO_y0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=956YLXYO_y0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=956YLXYO_y0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> This video really makes Ronnie's story look at a lot better than it really was/is. Her story really lacked the heart and complexity of Kat's initial storyline, or at least the way it was executed throughout the long-term.

There's going to be a Revealed special on Stacey airing on the 28th. Natalie Cassidy is narrating it (I hope this doesn't mean Sonia is ever coming back). Some big Jean spoilers:
