  2. I was looking at his IMDB, Gareth Philips had a long history with Corrie being a writer and then series editor from 2001-2006, which were generally very strong years for Corrie. The 2003-2006 era in particular being a real highlight. Hmm, I may give the show a chance again when he arrives, but a few months after his name is credited. You know it's going to take a miracle to clean this show up...
  3. Guy Burnet interview: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/interviews/a296811/guy-burnet.html
  4. Nowhere else is reporting it, but one poster on DS who seems to have something against the show is saying he's heard it on Radio 1. He seems to be making crap up about the show and posting it as information.
  5. I hope this isn't true, but someone at DS is saying that Pam St. Clement is leaving the show, but will leave at the end of the year. Probably just lies from the press, who knows...
  6. I think the show can handle these departures, but they need to give proper material to the people already there to pick up the slack. Personally, I won't miss Ronnie, and Carol really hasn't been featured all that much since she came back, barring Billie's death and some stuff with Connor. It would be easy to write her out if Coulson wanted to leave again. Stacey needed a break, and I really haven't missed Peggy all that much or thought about her in a while. The show still has a strong enough cast with these people gone, they just need to focus better on what's left, develop new characters carefully, and bring back old characters with better care. As for Jane, I don't know if that character has had much of a purpose for the past two years. They could get rid of her, but I don't think they will. There's no one else to pair Ian with, and I doubt they would try.
  7. I like Carol and all, but she's a very difficult character to write for and a lot of people misunderstand her and think she's a cold nuisance. Lindsey Coulson never really likes to do one thing for too long either. I heard that Matthew Robinson had to beg like hell to bring her back for that '99 story with Bianca and Dan for Bianca's exit. John Yorke and Lindsey are close friends and he apparently wanted to bring her back too for the aftermath of Sonia having to give up her baby, but Lindsey was adamant about not coming back and moving on. At one point she said never wanted to return. I guess Patsy Palmer coming back helped to change her mind. As for close bonds, I think Kathy Beale is the one I can identify with, since she reminds me so much of my aunt, who I'm close to. A voice of reason character that's had some very difficult experiences in her life and never really found happiness. Sharon too, as all of my favourite eras of the show had Sharon as a central heroine (80's, early 90's, and early 00's), which I actually think are the best eras of the show. For some reason, when Sharon's on, I always find EastEnders to be at its best.
  8. I know Joe Absolom always said he never wanted to stay long, and apparently, John Yorke wanted to bring him back at some point for a longer stay, but Joe said no, he never wanted to return. I guess that's why they had Matthew send a card with flowers to Steve Owen's funeral that read something along the lines of "I hope you burn in hell." A prison rape story could have been interesting though, especially considering what a creative and ratings high the show was on during the 98-02 era. Joe was cute too.
  9. Pics from Sonia's one-off return in scenes with Carol and Ricky. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/scoop/a296801/sonias-return-corrie-newcomer-edale-warning.html Is it me or has Cassidy lost weight?
  10. Apparently, Laurie Brett is pregnant. I wonder if they'll give Jane a miracle baby, or if not, how they'll write around it and write her out for her maternity leave in a few months. They really should write Sharon back in. Ian needs a friend, and the show seems to be ignoring the friendship he once had with Alfie.
  11. Derek Martin was on This Morning on Friday: <object width="480" height="264"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xggo7d?width=&theme=none&foreground=%23F7FFFD&highlight=%23FFC300&background=%23171D1B&start=&animatedTitle=&iframe=0&additionalInfos=0&autoPlay=0&hideInfos=0"></param><param'>http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xggo7d?width=&theme=none&foreground=%23F7FFFD&highlight=%23FFC300&background=%23171D1B&start=&animatedTitle=&iframe=0&additionalInfos=0&autoPlay=0&hideInfos=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xggo7d?width=&theme=none&foreground=%23F7FFFD&highlight=%23FFC300&background=%23171D1B&start=&animatedTitle=&iframe=0&additionalInfos=0&autoPlay=0&hideInfos=0" width="480" height="264" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object><br /><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xggo7d_derek-martin_people">Derek Martin</a></b><br /><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/Endersfan">Endersfan</a>. - <a target="_self" href="http://www.dailymotion.com/us/channel/people">Videos of family and friends from around the world.</a></i>
  12. Ronnie looked like she crapped her pants in Friday's episode when Kat barged in to get Tommy's toy that Alfie had given away. She was so hiding that kid from Kat's eyes. Poor Kat had that emotional breakdown in the end with Tommy's toy in her hand. Kat, at her core, has always been a scared/vulnerable lost girl, and this story is showing that. I'm losing sympathy for Ronnie though, but I can understand how scared she is to admit to what she did.
  13. Sammie1Million tends to post all the key clips. Her channel documents the Slater family, so Kat's scenes and Ronnie's scenes in this storyline will be documented on that channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/Sammie1Million I don't know of any channel that posts full episodes anymore. Oh, this channel has episodes from early December to January 6th posted. So, pretty much a lot of Stacey's final weeks and the beginning of this baby switch storyline, which kicked off on New Year's Eve. http://www.youtube.com/user/HszombiTv
  14. I wonder if the show could get away with Little Mo/Trevor today, given how sensitive people are these days and how they'll complain about anything. There were so many disturbing scenes in that storyline, yet it was one of the biggest highlights and successes the show had.
  15. Honestly, good riddance if true. I think the show is past the point of return anyway. Even the shock tactics Marquess was using wasn't exactly bringing in the ratings.
  16. Wow, some fans are taking out their hate of Ronnie's actions on Samantha Womack and her kids. Crazy soap fans... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/soaps/3335376/EastEnder-Sam-shows-strain-as-BBC-complaints-over-cot-death-plot-top-6000.html
  17. Reading that article again, it says that Phillips is promoted to acting producer. Does that mean he's a temporary fill-in until someone more permanent is hired?
  18. The show is also been gaining viewers with this story. I don't know, will they fire him based on the controversy of this story, or keep him because of the stable/rising ratings?
  19. So, Lisa Dingle was raped in tonight's episodes?
  20. Belinda Campbell briefly worked as Series Producer under Louise Berridge (who was EP), I believe. She was also a scrip editor during John Yorke's time as EP.

  22. Do they have anyone to replace him, if they make a scapegoat for this controversy? Maybe John Yorke will have to temporarily step in again, as he did briefly between Hutchinson and Harwood.
  23. Samantha Womack leaving probably meant it was always going to be cut short, despite the controversy, I think. I don't know if they'll get rid of Kirkwood for this, as ratings are still high and this story was planned before he got there. Then again, he could have stopped it from happening, so who knows...
