Y&R to air classic episodes
https://www.soapcentral.com/yr/recaps/2009/090504.php Could it be Katherine & Murphy's wedding from May 4th? She's in the May 5th episode, but it doesn't look like anything special. This is meh, but still earlier than either B&B or GH have gone. You'd think that for Katherine if anyone, they'd have more older stuff. I still have some hope they might do more 80s and 90s stuff with MTS and EB, since they're the same actors playing the part, and Katherine's best scenes from the 70s and 80s are mostly with Brenda Dickson or characters no longer on the show (though there is no excuse for not using more late 80s/early 90s material).

They can feel free to bring him back lol. Sorry Jason Thompson. I was also thinking they might use Katherine's final episode but there wasn't much going on in that one. Maybe they will air the tribute again with all the clips.

http://www.tv.com/shows/the-young-and-restless/ep-9116-1267049/ This is the cake fight from Chloe's wedding in 2009. Not an era I would revisit but not an awful choice for a more recent episode. Recap sounds like it's entertaining.

Working on getting more of my 80s stuff online. Here's the first half of what I have from 1988. The quality isn't the greatest. January 13, 1988 It's blocked because it has a Fleetwood Mac song, so it's on archive: https://archive.org/details/yr-1988-01-13 February 11, 1988 March 2, 1988 April 4, 1988 May 10, 1988 May 25, 1988 June 1, 1988

https://www.cbs.com/shows/the_young_and_the_restless/ Where it says Full Episodes, click the drop down menu and there are older seasons mentioned. They filed all the classic episodes under the season. You don't need an All Access subscription for this. You probably have to be in the US though.

How could I forget Jill! Yes! A week of catfights/rivals would be perfect. This. It's extra revenue. That Days lawsuit against SONY mentioned streaming, didn't it? I'm sure SONY has thought about it.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Thanks Marquise! I have noticed some videos that used to be fine are getting blocked, and strangely, some videos which used to be blocked are now available. I read that YouTube has less people in the office now, and more bots are being used to take down videos, which could lead to mistakes or irregularities.

Y&R to air classic episodes
I'm thinking that we'll get a minimum of six weeks of classic episodes considering the time it will take to get the episodes shot, edited, and aired... It could be much longer. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it takes more than 6 weeks for them to even start shooting. Or more. I hope the ratings stay high because this is the best chance we'll have to show there's a market for this. I'm probably going to rewatch all the episodes on CBS.com too to show support. What do you think will be the other theme weeks? What might we see? Week 1: Katherine the Great Week 2: Victor and Nikki - or ideally, one separate week for each one, so we can get episodes that don't involve them as a couple. Episodes I'd like to see: Victor holding Michael in the dungeon, Victor getting harpooned, Nikki as a stripper, Nikki killing her father, Victor pretending to be a servant when Nikki first visits the ranch, Victor taking Jabot from the Abbots for the first time Episodes we're likely to see: Nikki & Victor's wedding after she's shot by Veronica, Victor getting carjacked and meeting Hope/Victor returning from the dead, Adam being born or Adam as a child Week 3: The Abbotts Episodes I'd like to see: Ashley's abortion confrontation with Victor, Traci and Lauren fueding, anything with Terry Lester (I know, it won't happen), Jack holding the baby who got his baby's heart, Dina's first interactions with her children in Genoa City Episodes we're likely to see: John's death, Jack & Phyllis' wedding Week 4: The Younger Newmans Nick and his lovers will probably be heavily featured. Amelia Heine has been on a long time but I can't think of much I would expect to see that doesn't involve Billy Miller, and they won't do that. The current Adam is too new, otherwise this would be an all Adam week knowing the show. Episodes I'd like to see: Nick's Crimson Lights fight with Matt Clark, Nick in jail, anything with Heather Tom (it won't happen), Adam and Heather taking over the Ranch while Victor was in Mexico to kill Sabrina's hitman Episodes we're likely to see: Various episodes of Nick proposing to, making love to, and marrying Sharon and Michelle Stafford's Phyllis... Week 5: The Barber/Winters I wouldn't have guessed this, but Neil and Drucilla being featured in the second classic episodes give me hope, and Shemar is very popular and might be willing to do commentary Episodes I'd like to see: Olivia realizing Keesha is Nathan's lover, any Olivia/Keesha or Dru/Keesha confrontation, Neil and Dru meet and go on their first date, Lillie Belle saying she wished Dru was in the hospital almost dying instead of Olivia (I think this was Nate's birth) Episodes we're likely to see: Neil & Dru's wedding, birth of Lily, one of Malcolm's returns, Devon's adoption, episodes with young Christel Khalil and Daniel on the run. Week 6: The Crazy Baldwin/Fisher men Episodes I'd like to see: Michael breaking through Christine's wall (but also some of the episodes showing Michael harassing her), Kevin revealing he is Michael's brother, Kevin getting beat up in jail, Kevin burning down Gina's Episodes we're likely to see: Michael/Lauren stuff, Kevin/Chloe stuff to balance it out Other possibilities the longer it goes on: Christine's Trials & Tribulations Villains (David Kimball, Sheila, etc. Sheila really deserves her own week). Paul's Heroic Deeds Lauren Fenmore Business Plots (doubtful) Greatest Weddings Best Location shoots Edit: Re-reading this and being a bit pessimistic when it comes to what I think we'll see (leaning towards more modern stuff and the current cast)... hoping to be proven wrong. So far the choices have been great. I'd never have thought they'd show that March 1993 episode.

I'm so happy they're sticking with soap reruns! This could go on for months, and we'll see them in HD! I love the concept of "Katherine the Great" What an honor for Jeanne. I don't know why they wouldn't go past 1990 for her of all people, but it may depend on what else was on that day. Maybe they will do it for Melody Thomas Scott, if, let's say, they can find a couple of half hour episodes with Nikki and Victor featured, Paul and his family, Jill & Kay and not many other characters. It would be a challenge to find episodes from the 70s and early 80s that satisfy both requirements of being mostly familiar characters and also had a major event happening. @ironlion the early 90s is my favorite period too. Maybe that's because it's when I started watching. Those are "my" people and Y&R is "my" show. It's so strange that B&B being the only soap with actors from the original pilot would be the one that won't go back. They even use the same sets from the 80s. Maybe they believe that their production values are their strong suit (it isn't the writing or the acting...) hence the focus on all their location shoots. It's a source of pride, but the episodes are kind of boring.

Jess really connects to the role very well and has an air of confidence that is unusual for a temp. That's why I thought maybe she knew. Or maybe she's just that good of an actress. IMO the vast majority of temps phone it in. I think Jess Walton is the best recast of an iconic soap character ever, so it just seems like too much of a coincidence to think she was only hired as a temp and stayed. The casting director must have had longer term thinking in mind given Brenda's issues.

Jess really took ownership right away, more than would be typical for a temp recast. How exactly did this work? I saw the E True Hollywood Story years ago, but that was more from Brenda's POV and I don't really remember the details. Did they carry on with casting calls for a permanent Jill while Brenda was still on contract? And was Jess told this was a temporary recast but most likely would become a contract role?

They must have digitally converted all the episodes they clipped for the JC, KSJ, MTS, EB, and PB specials, right? If they have nothing else, I wouldn't mind seeing some of those full episodes again, especially the Nikki ones from the 70s and 80s.

Here's the link https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/heresthething/episodes/peter-bergman-king-soaps There is a very funny part where they talk about saying the name of their shows in French so that nobody knows they're referring to being on a soap, and PB starts referring to it as Les Feux de l'amour.

I'll have to rewatch! I do remember reading in one of the soap mags years ago Anthony Pena said he had Native heritage.

It didn't bother me because it gave each character a chance to reflect their own personalities and not just them as part of a couple (something that I can't see happening today). Ryan & Victoria worked as Romeo & Juliet because of the storyline they were playing. The only pairing that looked really weird was Paul and Lauren. They could have found a historical hero for Paul to play. Katherine and Rex worked because they were complementary costumes that also really reflected them (him being lighthearted and her being a melodramatic capricious queen). I loved the nod to Drucilla's ballet career with Firebird, John Abbot as George Washington, Victor as the Roman, Traci as Mae West, Jill as Cleopatra, and Jack as Prince Charming, but without Cinderella. And best of all was how every minor character was also there in a great costume and had character moments... Esther, Mamie, Lynn, Mary, John Silva, Col. Douglas Austin... was Miguel there? They even had Mme. Chauvin in a lovely scene! I was listening to Peter Bergman's podcast with Alec Baldwin the other night and he said on AMC, the cast always saw each other and hung around in the makeup room or whatever, but on Y&R, the schedule was such that you really only interacted with your scene mates, and he went weeks before meeting all of the cast... so you can really tell how much the cast was truly enjoying themselves here.

It's on YouTube, search for October 2, 1991. I think I'm gonna just watch that for that semi-live feeling.

My cable on-screen TV guide added a description of the episode today. The other classics just had a generic description of a soap set in Genoa City. Pretty cool to see Sheila mentioned! It says "David wears the same disguise as Danny to the masquerade ball; Paul and Lauren see Scott and Sheila."

So that's what they did with that intro! Good; I'm glad that nonsense isn't eating into show time. We got to see the whole ep last week in the NY Metro area... I don't know if that's just cause it was Good Friday or what... fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Y&R to air classic episodes
It really is a shame that they didn't just decide to air the ball from Wed-Fri or whatever, but I can't wait to watch in high quality! I also wonder if they will show that intro TEB recorded, since they didn't do that for the last two classics, and it's not like people can't figure out that it's an old episode. GH had Laura Wright and (for some strange reason) the mother of the babies that play Wiley do intros... they need introductions IMO because those episodes are so recent that you could be forgiven for mistaking them for current.

When Tricia started showing signs of the crazy, Victor offered her to live in his penthouse so he could keep an eye on her and keep Victoria safe. Tricia drugged Victor with sleeping pills and viagra, had sex with him, and then claimed he raped her. He got out of jail in time for Victoria and Ryan's wedding, but it was too late, Tricia had put on a wedding dress, walked down the aisle, and shot Ryan.

Jeez, that's weird that it got removed so fast, unless it was the uploader who made it private? I think I saw that one on archive.org but now I can't see the date anymore (it's always a good idea to type the date here before pasting in the youtube/dailymotion link because if the date is only in the title and it gets deleted, we won't know what it was), was it this? https://archive.org/details/theyoungtherestlessjune111985
