  1. Is there one more episode for Bo&Hope to sew things up?  It seems odd to end the story on a Tuesday.

I am not a SeBu fan so the only good news is that we are already 1/12th of the way through his contract.  I don't see much of a future for Harris.  I assume from today's dialogue that he will redeem himself by finding Kate, but I am officially the worst prognosticator in soap fandom history.

The real highlight for me is Kayla.  All of the discussions about MBE's time on GH as Katherine reminded me that she's a compelling actor.  Her look of disgust at Harris, when he admitted to lying about Bo, was fun to watch.  She also had a tough assignment in the letter episode because it was mostly told through her reactions.  I hope DAYS will remember that some of their best ratings were when Patch and Kayla were the leading actors and throw them something else to do than fret about their children's romantic entanglements.

  2. Talk about overthinking it, I was speculating for the last month that Bo was everyone from Thomas to a de-aged Victor.  But, as it turns out, Peter Reckell is just a stiff, out of practice, actor. And, Hope can deprogram any man with the mere suggestion of the opportunity to see Ciara in a maternity dress.

  3. Wait a second, Robert can't get the WSB to track Victor's boat because it is an "international situation?"  Aren't they the World Security Bureau?  I thought it is an international spy agency with officers worldwide (like Anna in the UK and Robert in Australia).

This feels like a poorly written plot point in order to justify why middle-aged men like Curtis and Drew need to save Trina and Spencer.

Am I missing something? Why is Ned so out of control upset over Valentin not being around as CEO of ELQ? Don't companies continue to run when an exec is out of commission? Just lame writing.

My understanding is that the board is concerned about the bad publicity around Valentine faking his death and how it will affect the stock because shareholders don't like a liar as their CEO (both IRL and in PC).

It also ties in with Nina's plan to expose Carly for insider trading because the board would be even more skittish about an FCC filing.

Putting ELQ and the financial security of the Q family in crisis.

  5. I do not appreciate Mr. Giddens podcast performances, his erroneous insider knowledge, or his contentious engagement on social media.

However, it is hard to read board posts and not recognize his influence on the options of fans of the genre (I still hear his mispronouncement of the hard "g" in my head every time I read the word genre in print).

And, I hope that daytime will continue to search for BIPOC/LGBTQIA writers as part of their staff.

  6. Marlena could've FaceTimed Sami, but she's been in the tub most of the week.

I bet that family has a group text.  I mean with Will in New Zealand, it's hard to keep up with the time change, so I think they just text and send each other their daily Wordle scores.

The Johnsons can't text, you know with the patch and all, so they seem like a weekly phone call kind of family (although Stephanie always needs hypnosis to remember the contents of last week's call)

The Dimeras use encrypted email, The Kirikas family still write letters, and, of course, The Hortons use the landline in the kitchen.

They can get another Fancy Face (7? 8?) and sail around the world.  It is in character.

It would be logical if Ben & Ciara decide to stay landlocked with two infants and Bo&Hope take over the boat.

What did you think of the Stephanie & Chad scene today?  Surprisingly I think he's the weaker link.  She's charming and has a spark.  He seems to exist on a low vibration and he's not very appealing to me.

Also, I know Hope, Chad, and Stephanie have a list of the Kiriakis properties, but if this one's a lab, why didn't Bo stick Kayla there when he first kidnapped her rather than a shack with a wine cellar?

Bo needs therapy or has some health related issue that keeps them off the canvas.

Others have theorized that she'll shoot him and he'll be in a coma, but why couldn't he recover at University Hospital under the care of his sister and nephew?

I wonder if Ciara's pregnancy will play into the reason that they can't return.

Or, maybe it's just about the housing shortage in Salem leaving them nowhere to live...

  9. This is my fault, not theirs, but the entire cliffhanger was in this week's preview (if I wanted to be surprised I shouldn't look at spoilers).  But, I expected the scene to go a little further to explain the situation.

I'm a bit more conflicted about my theory that this isn't Bo.  On the one hand, they've deliberately shown that this isn't Thomas, but there's got to be some reason why Bo and Hope won't return to Salem, and if he escapes, then she has to go hunt him down at the other Kiriakis properties around the world.

At this point, I don't see a future for Harris.  I guess there are available romantic interests.  But, why would anyone in Salem be interested in befriending the guy who terrorized the Johnsons and lied to Hope?  If we're headed toward a Stephanie/Harris pairing, I do not approve.

The high point of the episode for me was the banter between Stephanie and Chad when she questioned where he got his investigative abilities.  It was cute.  It mirrored the audience's response.  And, it is nice that she's not just gaga about every idea that he has, which makes them more like partners than when Bo&Hope were investigating crimes back in their youth.

You would think the shuttle from PC to Spoon Island would be shut down, due to Victor Cassadine taking the Haunted Star... but, I guess not.

I was reading the Wydermere wiki and it is amusing that there's always been a ferry, but there's also a long history of people showing up on the island by surprise.  Like, dude, get a ring cam.

  11. I guess Gwen can't live there unless she reconciles with Jack&Jennifer, which doesn't seem likely (until the holidays).

Lucas could live there if/when he's ever released from prison.  Along the same lines, Will could live there but seems more reasonable to stay at the Dimera mansion since Arianna's mother lives there.  And I don't why Sarah chose to live in a rat-infested motel rather than live there.

It really highlights the lack of Hortons currently in Salem that it is such a stretch to think who should be living in one of the oldest sets on the show.

  12. I'm happy they had Ava tell Carly why she's forgiven Nina for drugging her, kidnapping her, and inducing the birth of  Avery. I don't know that it exactly fits with the character of Ava to forgive and forget (eg Esme), but it made for an interesting contrast to see how Nina is unable to forgive Carly, which will obviously only hurt her relationship with Willow further.

It's kind of funny how people just drop into Wyndemere.  Isn't it on an island?  IIRC people used to have to take a ferry to get to the house.

  13. A red flag that an episode was uninspiring is when all we can talk about are the sets and the wardrobe.

But, can we discuss the Horton House? Is it an Airbnb now?  Because Jack&Jennifer and Julie&Doug only seem to live there part-time when they are not off traveling the world (or at least Boston).  Not only is it odd that Doug&Julie don't seem to own a home in Salem, but Julie circa the 1980s would not be caught dead sleeping in her grandma's guestroom.  From Bob Anderson to her penthouse suite, Julie has lived in some of the most fashionable places in Salem.  So, I doubt she would choose to live out her golden years in the same house she lived in as a teenager.

  14. The issue with Nicole's lie is similar to my criticism of Harris's lie, there is no other logic than they did it to advance the plot.

I mean why is Nicole living with EJ in the first place?  Her divorce from Rafe seems to have been settled in record time, but didn't she get a settlement?  I know there's a housing crisis in Salem, but why didn't she get their house?

Also, she's expressed hesitation about being with EJ, then they boffed once (while under the influence, so he would get the context of what happened with Eric), and suddenly they are committed.

  15. Second season in a row that I didn't make it through the finale.

They need a new format to choose the winner.  If there's going to be Lipsync Lolla-pa-Ruza every season, then we don't need a lipsync smackdown for the crown as well.  I liked the performances from Jinx and Orville Peck (who I always confuse with Anderson Paak for no other reason than the number of syllables in their names), but the episode seems to take an eternity, and I don't need another RuPaul song after she's already done two this season.

  16. I've been thinking about the lack of admission of guilt in the Dominion case and I've come to agree with their decision on a couple of levels.

    A. Even if Dominion approved of the wording, we all know that the delivery would be weak.

    B. Because Fox News won't cover it, audiences are forced to watch other channels, thus lowering Fox's ratings which is the true punishment.

    C. There's no way that Fox News wouldn't frame itself as the victim of another entity trying to impinge on its first amendment rights.

    D. Fox News admitting that they lied in order to pander to their audience will do nothing to sway their support because they still push the bigger lie that culture war issues matter more than civil rights.

So, I think the admission of guilt is best left to MSNBC, CNN, and NYT in their scathing critiques of Fox management.

The tabloids had lost some of their power by the time Kelly came along

Well, the Post is trying it this week.  They've chosen to highlight negative Twitter responses to her pairing with Mark for two days in a row (promulgating the fictional idea that Twitter has ever been an accurate gauge of mainstream audience response).  Including, a totally erroneous headline about Mark responding to the "backlash" which was really an EW interview about how much he enjoyed his first day on air.
