That's Chris Hubbell, who played Chuck Tyler on AMC. Agnes Nixon said in a TV interview that he "wasn't a very good actor," so they replaced him. Poor guy. I'd be mortified if Nixon called me out on television like that.

I just Googled Chris Hubbell and did not know he married Monie Ellis who played Gidget in the 1972 TV movie " Gidget Get's Married". I tried looking up what happened to her a while back. Talk about a small world.  Monie is the daughter of the late Mona Freeman who was in tons of film and TV shows in the 40's, 50's, 60's.

Ouch !!! That would sting to be dissed like that. David Jacobs (Dallas creator) said the same thing about Charlene Tilton (Lucy) in his Archive Of American Television interview.

I may be wrong, but that's Stephanie Braxton in that clip. I'm PRETTY sure that would be AMC, if my timelines are correct for what show she was on at the time.

    Tara on AMC

Thanks. Who's the guy in the scene ? He looks familiar.

  4. In an interview with Kay Alden she talked about how thorough Bill Bell was in introducing characters and storylines. She said in the original Y&R bible, it clearly is written that Katherine Chancellor will make her first appearance in November 1973 and Lorie Brooks in December 1973.

I think there is some talk about it in the primetime soaps thread. I or someone else put an SOD article.

It has a Dynasty rip off thing going on. Even Craig Sheffer looks like a rip off Al Corley.

My mom fondly liked Matt.. and I asked if he was anything like Victor.. and she said no.

I think that there was a lot of untapped potential with the Matt character... and I felt that the show didn't really explore the Victor/Matt dynamic to the fullest extent.  Victor was abandoned by his parents, grew up in an orphanage, and became this angry driven man.. and it did affect how he was as a parent (in some ways, Jack was more of a father to Nicholas than Victor was)... while Matt ended up being raised by his family since he was born later on so he didn't have the chip on his shoulder that Victor did.  Sadly... by the 80s.. soaps were more about couples/triangles than about psychological character study so the potential was never fully explored.

Robert Parucha (Matt)  always reminded me a bit of John Beck who played Mark Graison on Dallas.

I also read somewhere how Peggy Brooks invited nikki to stay at the Brooks home for abit i think this was either 1979 or 80 but they seemed to have a couple interactions in those days but i don't think nikki knew Lorie or leslie not sure.

Peggy was a reporter in the summer of 1980 and she investigated the cult Nikki and Paul were at... maybe Nikki and Peggy ran into each other

I think Peggy asked Nikki to stay at the Brooks home in 1981 when she and Greg split and she started at the Bayou. Nikki wanted to reconcile with Greg at this point. Didn't Greg get beat up at the Bayou trying to cover Nikki up with his coat ?

Why did they get married in the Brooks house?

I gather since Chris Brooks Foster was going to be her sister in law, she helped Nikki with the wedding. She also loaned her wedding dress to Nikki to wear.

  9. Speaking of Bill Bell's way of writing Re: Nikki. Someone once commented that Nikki interacted with each of the Brooks sisters at different times over the years, but it came across onscreen that Nikki didn't realize they were all sisters till much later. Which sounds strange.

I would love to see Nikki and Greg's 1979 wedding in The Brooks house surface online. I have seen fragments of it. I remember bit scenes of Nikki coming into the living room and a bouquet of red roses and Nikki smelling them, Nikki looking at herself in the mirror getting ready, her walking down the aisle towards Greg, A bit of their vows, Casey and Nikki discussing her finally being happy at the wedding reception, and she and Greg drinking champagne as they are toasted.

  10. Eileen did get paired with a lot of duds. Jay Kerr who played Brian Forbes said he hated doing Y&R and thought it was bottom of the barrel where his acting career was concerned. I think he took it off his IMDB page. Where's his career now ?....LOL

Eileen said she loved working with Rod Arrants (Steven) and was sad when he was killed off. Rod adored her too and I assume they still talk to each other when they get the chance.  Eileen left the show after that. If I remember correctly, Brenda Epperson stepped in as the grieving took place. Eileen recommended her as her replacement.

  11. It seems the 1970's Y&R cast was the closest since it was much smaller. When the 1980's came and the hour expansion, it added more people and they all were probably. isolated to their storyline groupings.

In the episode before Victor & Nikki's wedding, Douglas mentioned Snapper's name on the guest list. Did the show expect Hasselhoff to appear and it fell through ? When Chris arrived she told her sisters Snapper let her get away for a visit. It would have been great if Espy had appeared as Snapper and maybe had Chris flashback to her wedding 10 years prior.
