  1. Paul Tulley would return to Y&R in 1981 as crazy Edward. He also has a listing on IMDB for being on Y&R again in 1997. Who did he play or was it a flashback credit ? He appeared in several daytime and primetime soap roles. He played the teacher Lucy accused of attempted rape on Dallas in 1978 and returned in another role in 1986. Here he is today.

  2. Speaking of Lezlie Dalton, I love watching her in classic GL as Elizabeth Spaulding. She had a breathy Jackie Kennedy type voice and demeanor. She should have been brought back in later years of that show. I don't know if Dalton was ever approached or declined to return to daytime. I saw she had a short stint on Search For Tomorrow around 1982/83.

  3. I ran across this video from the late 90's or early 2000's a while back. It's pretty popular for people into ASMR. When I first saw it I kept waiting for Fran Drescher to come out and yell " MA !"

You can click on the tabs at the bottom to go to the soap discussions. I went back and watched a bit more after I posted and he tells the interviewer " I implore you to move on and and ask more important questions"  He does go into Guiding Light with more depth and about Irna". I don't know if he was just getting bored talking about soaps, embarrassed, wanted to brag about what he considered his big projects  or was on a tight schedule. It just a comes off kind of snotty in places for me.

  5. I ran across James Lipton's interview on the Archive Of American Television site, and I could not sit through it. He was pretentious and arrogant when asked about his time on soaps. The interviewer wanted to go in depth and Lipton quickly cut him off and said " Your spending too much time on this subject and that when he was in daytime he felt he gave it his all, but he has done far greater things compared to that. He did talk a bit about Irna and that she knew how to plot out storylines better than anyone, but said she could not write dialogue to save her life. He then mentioned how she taught him the ropes and was training Agnes Nixon and Bill Bell.

  6. I remember when Lorie returned in the early 2000's and someone commented on the message boards that she was still sauntering her tired old ass like she did back in the 1970's.......LOL

I always wondered why Bill Bell had Lucas talk like the guys on 70's Mod Squad " Lorie I have something heavy to lay on you, real heavy".

  7. Pam's second miscarriage on Dallas. She had already had the first one when she fell from the hayloft. Then a year later she was pregnant again and was thrown from a horse. Why ??? They did that neuro fiber whatcha-ma-call-it story that amounted to nothing since she was not Digger's daughter. They then spend 9 years with Pam wanting a child, then not wanting a child, then wanting a child and going crazy trying to kill herself by not having a child. Then when she get's fried in the car accident, she was on her way to tell Bobby she could....guess what ? Have a child.

Hopefully he will upload (he has not uploaded some of the other episodes he had  closing credits for, but did put up a Y&R episode). I'm not holding my breath though. It truly saddens me that the sponsors and networks took so little care of their soaps and ignore such obvious ways to make revenue, meaning we're in a place where we either have to beg or make financial donations to have any hope of seeing a fragment of an episode.

He just posted another video titled " Channel Surfing" 1971 and it had another Secret Storm closing and a Where The Heart Is opening. He probably has complete shows, but wants donations or purchases to make them happen. If he would at least show a few complete scenes from these shows, I would consider making a reasonable donation with the stipulation he has to upload the full episodes on youtube (maybe on a hidden link) that I would make available to all of us here at SON. Then hopefully someone with computer skills would grab them and add them to the vault. He has a internet archive with that Y&R episode, but that page format sucks.

Brooke Bundy was everywhere in the late 60's and 70's. I'm sure most viewers would recognize her when she turned up onscreen.

I wonder why she never landed a series? Maybe through choice or she was regarded more as a guest star by producers.

Anyway, I found it odd that she went into daytime in 75 as she seemed to be working steadily at that point in nightime episodics.

I wondered the same thing too. In a lot of her guest shots she played younger than she actually was. She was already about 26 in that 1969 Medical Center episode and had a daughter and was playing 19.

In 1973 she did a backdoor pilot with Ken Berry on The Brady Bunch. It was called Kelly's Kids and was going to be a spinoff. I assume the network passed on it. She may gave gotten tired of the rat race and wanted a regular steady gig. She continued doing guest shots even after she started in daytime. She now teaches acting the last I heard about her. She is nearly 80 now.

  10. I decided to post this here in case anyone is interested. This is a 1969 episode of Medical Center with Brooke Bundy (GH & Days) guest starring. Carolyn Conwell (Y&R) plays her mother, Peter Donat (Flamingo Road etc...) plays her father, and Michael Brandon plays her boyfriend. Donat was married to Michael Learned (The Walton's) and Brandon was married to Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman etc...) at one time.

  11. I just watched Robyn Milan on a 1973 episode of Hawaii Five-0. She played the wife of Bo Hopkins (Dynasty etc....) She, her husband( Bo), her husbands parents (Slim Pickens & Barbara Baxley) and little mute sister were a family of serial killers who wiped out people when they needed money. At the end when they all get arrested, the mother of the clan tells a horrified Steve McGarrett when he asks them why, she say's they weren't kin, so it doesn't matter. Dead people don't need money.

  12. Y&R: I think the 1975 scenes of the Brooks sisters encouraging their mother Jennifer to go through with the mastectomy.

Dallas: When Miss Ellie has to put up Southfork to cover J.R.'s butt in an oil deal. She tells him she doesn't know if she can forgive him after she signs the papers and walks out of his office with Jock.

Knots Landing: Val break down and tells Lillie Mae she was the reason she lost her baby (Lucy) because she turned her away the night she was running from J.R's cronies. Also when Karen confronts Diana at Gary's ranch which ends with Eric bitch slapping her. Abby smirks and then see's Olivia watching her with disgust.

His talent was definitely behind Y&R's success, and so was his vision.   As long as he was around, the show was a unique product -- from the stylized acting, to the moody lighting and music, to the sometimes repetitious and awkward dialogue.   That was all part of the appeal of the show.  Some of us loved his show; other viewers found it stilted and unnatural, preferring the more "real world"-based look and sound of the P&G shows or the ABC shows.  But Bill Bell didn't waver.  Y&R was exactly what Bell wanted it to be, and once he was gone, so was the unique identity of his show.

Aaron Spelling was a big fan of Bill Bell and said he wanted to write a daytime soap like him. When Spelling did the movie Mr. Mom he used Y&R as the soap Michael Keaton becomes addicted to. Lynn Loring (ex Patty SFT) was working for Spelling when they produced that film.

Janice Lynde reminds me of Loring. Lynde may have been a good recast for Patty on SFT in the 80's.

  14. I don't know what Bell was thinking by obliterating the past. I guess he felt by the 90's the show had picked up way more viewers along the way than what was watching 1973-1983 and they would have no knowledge of Patty/Cricket and Nikki/Eve interaction and could retcon to suit his current storyline. He sometimes would throw stuff out there that would surprise me. One day when Nikki and Brad were planning to wed, Jack walks in talking to Ashley and Jack blurts out Nikki Reed Foster Bancroft Newman Abbott soon to be Carlton......it had been years since they even mentioned Nikki's early marriages pre-Victor. For years he wrote it as Victor was her first husband. Even a viewer wrote in to Soap Digest asking about Foster & Bancroft.

Even in the mid 80's he was giving old Brooks sister storylines to Ashley.

Hmmm... for Christine not to be aware of Patty seems like a retcon... in spring/early summer '84, Danny was dating Andrea Evans' Patty before his shotgun wedding to Traci... while Cricket was also hanging around/crushing on Danny. Don't know if Cricket and Patty ever shared a scene but surely she knew of Patty as "competition"

Such a retcon wouldn't be unusual for YR... I'm watching fall '93 now, where all of Eve's sins from the 80s were completely erased... '93 Nikki says she's never met Eve but has heard good things 😵

That's hilarious, since she and Nikki got into it at one of Victor's early fake funerals.....LOL

  16. I wonder if the master tapes of this soap exist ? I think GH saved all their episodes and since this is the sister soap, maybe those episodes are in the vault.

Yes Marlo had her father's nose. The first time I saw her original nose in a 1950's photo with her Dad I didn't recognize her. When I see her today on TV, she doesn't even resemble the way she looked on That Girl in the 60's. I know it's been decades, but she looks totally different.

Some guy commented on youtube a few years ago about her recent work on her face. He said she was on a talk show and he couldn't understand what she was saying. He said the doctor must have cut a nerve and her mouth was hanging open. It's was a cheap shot....but I had to laugh.
