  1. I don't think NLG is all bad or anything.  This is just a situation where she just invites herself to criticism.  I have no problem with her supporting Haley in private nor do I think Haley is an awful, horrible, unlovable human.  But I just don't get why NLG puts herself in these situations.  It seems more trouble than it is worth when Haley was basically going to quietly serve her time and move on.

Exactly.  I assumed it would be a salary downgrade from professional modeling, but I don't know.  I'm not even sure where being a live-in cook for a wealthy family falls in the status hierarchy of the culinary field.  I'm just assuming with Tracy living there, any servant would be reminded that's what they are from time to time, at the very least.  And even Olivia essentially said she plans to cook the important meals herself.

So I don't see how this is a promising career move, except we're to believe Lucy was so ridiculous and impossible to work for that anything would be better.  Which reminds me of why I resent Sasha's character after < 2 months of watching.

Private chefs make pretty good money, but Sasha is neither a true chef or has any credentials.  But........she also probably got a pretty cut rate deal as a model as well since she wasn't a model previously.  Not sure which would be more profitable.

The current wig Emily O'Brien wears as Theresa looks fine,  She looks ok as a blonde.  IT would be utterly stupid to have Theresa all of a sudden look more like Theresa, just as stupid as it is for EOB to be playing Theresa to begin with. I do think she's improved as Theresa, but still say that someone else should've been cast in the role, and if Theresa were stay on the show, to drop her off.

The wig looks awful.  I am not sure I am understanding how Theresa would look more like Theresa if EOB lost the wig.  It's a new actress with a new face.  Hair color doesn't matter much at all, especially since we've had months to get used to a new Theresa.

But now I’m thinking, where did he even get the card in the first place? 😂😂😂

Guess Days didn’t do their homework again 😂😂

I have no idea how he got the card in the first place.  Very good question.

  4. I was also pretty confused about Wendy/Tripp's exit.  It seems like an extended trip (no pun intended lol), but everyone was being vague about how long they were leaving for.  I mean, I am sure Wendy could get a job if they were moving there, but I don't know if Tripp could practice medicine.  Weird exit.

Actually, Sasha did have some savings regardless of how Gladys messed with her money. She definitely was using it month to month, but it only now seems to be catching up to her enough for her to downsize.

Oh, okay.  I said a few posts ago I thought she has some money either from Sonny or leftover.  It still doesn't make sense she can't afford her apartment after being unemployed for a few weeks though.  If her apartment was that expensive her Deception salary couldn't cover it and she had to dip into her savings, she probably should have moved long ago.  She could live above Bobbie's next to Jason lol.

    LOL!!

Then she should get a job to help her pay for her culinary training.  Better yet, she should've kept going with modeling until she at least had saved enough to pay for school and other expenses.

You're right, Sasha sucks at adulting, lol.

Apparently, the only deception going on was in the girl's finances.

Yup.  Straight to Austin-the notoriously cheap city lol.

Listen, all GH had to do is show Sasha's desire to do more than modeling and express her love of cooking more than like once.   Say that she's been saving up to move on to school or even have her try her luck at social media cooking and say she became a sensation.  It's at least as believable as her being a model IMO.

Anything makes Sasha look smarter than well I just quit my very coveted, high paying job with absolutely no life plan or discernable workplace skills...🤷‍♀️

As for Konstantin, I will settle for nothing less than his death once this is all over and done with lol Btw where did he get John’s trigger card?

Thomas just gave it back to Konstantin when he asked a few weeks ago.  Not really sure the point of Thomas having it in the first place unless Thomas eventually tells someone Konstantin has that card.

  8. 10 hours ago, Vee said:

Which is insane to me. How is she broke?? Even with Gladys' shenanigans she was the Face of Deception.

Idk.  I was going off what Sasha said.  I was under the impression Sonny either got some of the money back from Gladys and/or gave Sasha some money to help her out as well.  Sasha was also going to pick up and move to Austin where she knew no one, had no job, and had no place to live last year after the Gladys fiasco, so I don't think life planning is a strong suit of hers.

  9. I think Sasha quit her modeling job without any sort of savings and is living month to month, so it was kinda dumb to quit a good paying job when she's generally an awful model that won't get hired anywhere else.  But I am going to assume she can't afford culinary school?  That doesn't mean she couldn't start working as a line or prep cook, at say the Metro Court.

My understanding is that being a chef is rather male dominated anyhow, so I don't get how it's sexist for Sasha to take that job in general.   In real life Sasha would try to make a cooking youtube or tiktok channel and make way more than working at the Q's.

Speaking of Olivia, I've read through the discussion about her similarities to Lois and whether or not to keep Olivia around, but I'm still not clear on whether Olivia and/or Ned/Olivia have fans in their own right.  I have only been watching again for < 2 months after decades, so if it ain't broke and all—I really have nothing against the actress, and no opinion on them as a couple—but it does look really bad from where I'm sitting that Ned is married to somewhat so much like Lois.

In any event, I would welcome a new character as a love interest for Lois.  Although I feel guilty wishing for that when the cast is so overrun and I'm happy to see Lois on GH after all this time, even in a supporting capacity.

I can only speak for myself and what I have seen around, but I think it Olivia is moderately popular.  I haven't found too many people that hate her, but I haven't found too many people that love her either.  LLC is a likable performer, but I do think it's a shame that the character was just built as Lois-lite.

Similar to Laura/Kevin I think Olivia/Ned are just tolerated by most as a couple.  They don't really bother anyone, but they certainly aren't setting the world on fire or very polarizing.   They work well together and work in their capacity on the show fine.  They are just a nice supporting couple.

While I think the vast majority of the audience would prefer Ned/Lois, Rena/Wally have stated they don't want to do it.  So that means they have to find someone else for Lois.

I am at Valentine's Day, 1991. Cheryl gets the baby back the last week of January/early February just as Norma Monty starts to be credited (it looks like she might be credited late January as there looks to be a name underneath Palumbo's but the credits are cut off in my episodes). On V Day, Cheryl tries to get some hairstylist to do her hair, but the man chooses Anna instead. Cheryl and her frizz try to win over Robert, but he's out with Anna and Cheryl, instead, accepts a job offer in Phoenix and departs town after sharing a quick goodbye with Tiffany and Sean. Monty clearly wanted to wipe the slate clean.

I think the long plan under Palumbo/Hardy was a repairing of Anna and Robert. The emotional climax of the Faison/Casey the Alien/Crystal Caper is Sean revealing on his hospital bed that he arranged the destruction of Anna and Robert's marriage years ago through some scheme involving the Swede and possibly an affair between Anna/Faison. Actually, I suspect the original plan was to reveal that original plan was to play the beat that Robin may be Faison's daughter as the timing of the affair and Robin's age suggested he was a contender. This was never explored although a great deal of time was spent on a relationship between Robin and Faison as they were collaborting on a book together in the summer of 1990.

Given what plays out onscreen, the only thing that makes sense was that Palumbo/Hardy planned on revealing that Robert was Lucas' father. There is a scene in September 1990 between Scorpio and Frisco that alludes to both Scorpio having more children and Frisco's past relationship with his own father. Then, Broxton reveals that the number on Victor Jerome's diamond pouch is the number of Cheryl's file with Dr. Perry, who sold the baby to Bobbie. The diamonds were Victor's insurance policy when he got out of jail. The only reason that makes sense about this is if Victor planned to blackmail Robert to leave him alone with evidence of the baby's location. If it was a Jerome grandchild, why allow him to float around?

I think the plan for Evan Jerome, Jr. was for Edge to be Evan. I think Hardy's departure may have lead to some changes as there were clearly sweeping changes happening even before Hardy is out the door. Evan may have even been in the works when Palumbo/Kenney were EP because of Duke's role in Evan's father's death. Edge should have been an intriguing obstacle for Anna, but instead, he is quickly abandoned. I thought the potential of a Cheryl / Robert / Anna / Edge scenario was very intriguing given the fact that Lucas was either Robert or Julian's.

Cheryl also weaponizes Lucas' paternity in her final days trying to get a reunion with Robert because he is their son. It makes Bobbie more sympathetic because even though she lied I don't think she was using Lucas to keep her marriage together. She lied to keep Lucas, not Tony. I'm glad that Riche revives the custody battle over Lucas with Bobbie/Tiffany. After watching this all play out, I think it is a brilliant move.

Thank you so much for your detailed explanations as always.  I find out so much from you.  In your opinion would you have kept Cheryl and/or Edge?  I have never heard much positive about either, but it seems both have potential.

Made my way through January, 1991, quickly. It was easy because the show was pretty compelling thanks to two major storylines: (a) the Lucas saga and (b) the end of Lucy's pregnancy. In the main plot, Cheryl ended up in the hospital on New Years' Eve because of an injury she got in a fight with Tiffany leading Tiffany to learn that Tiffany has been hoarding Christmas presents for her husband Robert and son Robbie. I definitely think Robert was at this stage suppose to be the baby's father. Why else would the Jeromes have kept the baby secret? It only makes sense if Lucas was Cheryl and Robert's child.

Jackie Zeman is amazing playing all the facets of Bobbie as she desperately attempts to keep the truth from Cheryl about Lucas' identity. Scorpio is onto Bobbie as she has been in cahoots with Broxton, the Jerome attorney (her knows the baby is Cheryl's). As a result, he blackmails Rita Lloyd Jones out of Port Charles, but not before Rita implies to Tony in a letter that Bobbie is having an affair. The back and forth continues until Frisco lies for Bobbie, after also catching her in Broxton's room during an arrest. Bobbie now has Frisco and Ruby in her scheme. Eventually, Robert learns and even keeps quiet for an episode or two until taking the baby and giving it to Cheryl.

Once given the baby, Cheyl continues her crazy claiming the baby is Robert, but a paternity test shows its a lie. Then, we get a cat fight between Bobbie and Cheryl over Lucas. Any real energy this part of the story could have is avoided because this is the uncredited Monty era before the big revamp.

The story with Lucy's baby is smaller, but equally powerful. They quickly have Scotty quit ELQ, dump Tracy, the Qs set up a trust for the baby, and then Scotty reveals to Alan in Lucy's presence that the baby is his. Lucy loses the baby as a result. There is a suggestion that Alan may be lead to physical violence (there is a montage of the Monica/Rick/Alan story randomly) leading to Lucy and Scott filing a suit against Alan to bring criminal charges against him blaming him for the baby's death. In the end, it's a money scheme, but it loses steam because Lucy is shipped out of town on a cruise so Herring can go on maternity leave.

In what I'm watching now, there is some Scotty / Bobbie scenes that makes me thinkthey maybe they should have gone this route.

The Monty mandate that we talk about the real world has lead to a ongoing subplot about the crisis facing Romanian orphans who have been liberated by the fall of communism but still face health issues such as disabilities and HIV/AIDS. Simone is immediately overwrought leading to her exit story.

Other exit stories also involve the real world. Colton and Carla are planning their return to Santa Mauro, where El Presidente has given Colton a cattle ranch. First, Colotn has to sell Body Heat, but because of the recession is a hard sell, figuratively and literally. If there was a drinking game where they mentioned the recession, you'd be drunk pretty quick. There is lots of talk about the economy. It has also led to Monica, newly returned to the Q mansion, making sure that the whole family is put on notice. The Tracy branch is regulated to the gatehouse and the rest of the family is also placed on a budget. It's fun set of scenes, but it isn't sustainable. It at least reestablishes the family as a unit.

The other transition story is the piracy act between the newly reimagined businessman Colton and the newly stripped down Edge. Edge's romantic interest in both Dawn and Anna is abandoned and he is now strictly a sleazy businessman. It works given the nature of where they are going.

In what I'm watching now, Jenny Eckert has made her first appearance. So I am into the true Monty II era.

Was there any real reason given by Monty or whoever on why the choice was made to make Julian Lucas's father?  Was it to free up Robert?  Because from everything I have read and seen it doesn't make a lot of sense and wasn't terribly popular.

    Interesting.

They could totally say that when she left, she was pregnant with Lucas’ child.

That could actually lead to a storyline for Kate as well. She’s been in that Pub for too long 😂😂

From the two paragraph character synopsis I read I think you easily could she was pregnant.  Sheryl was either forced to leave town before she could tell Lucas, found out after she left town but couldn't come back because of Kate, or say Kate knew and paid her off to stay away.  All these things seem plausible.

Or if you are like me you'd believe anything because you still can't recall Jade Harlow/Sheryl ever being on Days of our lives 😂

I actually do think Lesli Kay did a good job as a recast tbh. But it was clear they had little or nothing for her to do, even if she at least was engaged with music. The Alcazar pairing was so bizarre and clearly designed to marginalize him after he flew too close to the sun with Carly.

I don't think Lesli Kay did a bad job exactly although I do think she was miscast.  I just hated the writing for her Lois in general.  Her being this overbearing stage mother that was smothering Brook Lynn felt off and I don't know if it was the material or LK not knowing how to play it.   You can still see the thread line of that overbearing behavior in Rena's Lois now, but it doesn't seem as stifling.  And, yeah, I have no idea what anyone was thinking with Alcazar/Lois lol.  It seemed very OOC for her to date a mobster although they did make an attractive couple.  After that I don't think Alcazar was ever a true main player even if he lasted a few years longer and did some nonsense with Skye.

I think they were definitely teasing it late last year with Sonny and Lois. There were too many heartfelt scenes with them as she stuck her nose into his love life, and she was too involved with it and even tussling with Nina who she does not know.

I don't see a need to do anything about Olivia tbh. She's Ned's wife, she's married to him, she's one of several Q matriarchs. She fills a fun supporting role and she's definitely not going to steal Lois' shine any time soon lol. Just leave her where she is (and maybe eventually let her sleep with Scorpio).

I know you and I were sure they were testing Sonny/Lois and there was a different vibe to the dialogue and the way they played off one another in the 90's.  Lois almost seem too invested recently.  I never got anything more than friendship from Sonny/Lois back in the day and I don't think it was just because of Ned/Brenda.   Anyhow, it doesn't look like PM/EK are taking in that direction so it doesn't matter.

I don't really mind Olivia.  I don't really care much about her either.  I wish the show had done a bit more to differentiate her from Lois years ago.  Olivia has carved a decent enough niche on the show and I don't even know if LLC is on contract, so she's not at the top of my list to go or anything.

More OLTL people? I don't think it's what GH fans are craving after three (four if you count Caleb) separate roles for two OLTL stars, among many, many other OLTL visitors lol.

You and me both, IIRC! I kind of believe they were, though I also think a Sonny/Ava ONS was going to happen in some way as drama for Sonny and Nina. I seriously doubt scheming Ava was their idea though.

I really had some thoughts late last year they were going there with them, but I also felt they were going for Sonny/Ava as well.  I really don't have any idea where DOC and CVE were going with the Sonny/Nina/Ava/Lois stuff.

Now what I CAN see is Lois falling for someone she knew from the old neighborhood, who now lives and works in PC, and is just a regular, salt-of-the-earth guy.

There are a lot of possibilities of where you can go with Lois.  She doesn't even necessarily have a "type".  Ned was her only love interest on the show.  I am obviously ignoring Lesli Kay's run and excluding Alcazar and pretty much any of Lois's character traits at the time.

I do think Lois makes Olivia extremely redundant, but, I agree, I don't know where that would put Ned.

Poor Brenda, always getting left out in the rain.  And, you know, maybe I'm crazy, but I believe that a part of her loved Sonny for wanting to do the "right thing" for the sake of his and Lily's kid, even if it meant losing him.

I agree.  When she says, 'be a good father, make it worth it."  I think she does at the very least understand the choice and is pretty resigned to it because she marries Jax the next day lol.

Anyhow, I didn't mind Lucy/Martin.  I found it silly and not all that deep though.

I can't even imagine Lois/Martin together.  I still can't believe GH finally got Rena back and didn't even plan a story, love interest, anything for her outside Brook Lynn's wedding.  It makes me wonder if Dan and Chris were thinking about Sonny/Lois and my earlier bad vibes were correct.

How did his and Sheryl's relationship end? I can't remember.

I literally had to google who Sheryl was lol.  Don't recall this character at all.  From what I read she overheard Kate saying she was using Sheryl to get info on Jordan and then Kate transferred Sheryl to another division of Titan out of town to keep her quiet.  I think it's unclear how her and Lucas ended.  Not bad?  She might have just disappeared?

  18. I never even thought of Sasha becoming the Q's chef as misogyny lol.   I just thought she didn't have the experience to do the job, but I am not sure she ever had experience to be a model either, so?  I don't ever go on soap twitter though.

I like Sasha more than most on here.  I just think the character has run it's course.  If she ever had a purpose to begin with.  She's not in a romance, she's not part of any family, until yesterday she had no job, she basically just has some friends in town.  It's the perfect time to let her go.  The show *might* want to finish out the Cody story with her, but since nothing has really progressed it would be a great time for Sasha to start over in a new place like she was going to post-Gladys months ago.  She gets a lot of airtime for a character without any real story.

Sometimes, I think it depends on who the writer or producer was/is at the time.

I had no problem when they paired Lucas with Chloe. It was something different for him and it seemed to work, for a while anyway. And it was definitely a lot better than him being completely ruined and then being written out in order to prop Sami/EJ.

The pairing with Adrienne wasn't that bad either.

I completely forgot he was paired with Adrienne lol.  I liked his pairing with Chloe too.

I just think the writers lack ideas with Lucas and I think it has a lot to do with the fact he's not a traditional looking leading man.  But also he has no children currently on the show.

    Ooooo VERY true.

Which is a shame because Lucas can be used for so much more than just falling off the wagon or just the Lumi pairing.

I am not advocating a Sami recast necessarily, but if they can't get Ali I would be okay with it.  I genuinely think her presence is missing on the canvas especially with

    Spoiler

    Nicole leaving soon.

  20. In regards to Lucas, I think this is when I find the absence of Sami problematic.  I feel like the show really has no use for Lucas unless he's in a story with Sami.  I know the show tries to explain her absence away with silly excuses a lot, but there is no way I believe Sami would never meet the woman her son married twice and her daughter dated, not meet her twin brothers wife or son, or not try to sabotage EJ/Nicole in some way.

I have never been the biggest Ali or Sami fan, but her presence on the canvas is pretty large.  At some point I wonder if the show would consider recasting her.

Plus, working for the Quartermaines isn't like working for the Waltons.  They're a mercurial bunch, to say the least; and Tracy in particular would reduce poor Sasha to a puddle of tears before the end of her first shift.

    I miss Reginald Jennings, lol.

    I miss Reginald too.

The way Olivia explained the job to Sasha made it sound much easier than I imagine it will be.  It still makes no sense for Olivia to ask Sasha when she works at a hotel that has a five star restaurant, kitchen, and room service workers.  One of those chefs/cooks would probably much more suited for the job.  Whatever.   I am really overthinking Sasha's career path.

Perhaps, the show is setting up some big "Who Shot Sonny?" storyline?  At least, that's where I'd go with it - and if not there, then maybe have him suffer a stroke or heart attack or some such event.  Then, I'd have Brenda return for a short spell and have her, Carly and probably Ava clash repeatedly over how best to care for the recuperating Sonny, lol.

It would be interesting to see where the show is going with Sonny.  It's almost comical how everyone turned on him in about a month.  In some ways it reminds of the 90's where most people in town thought Sonny was bad news and acknowledged he was a criminal.

I know Linda "I Don't Wake Up for Less Than $10K a Day!" Evangelista wouldn't do it, lol!

Right?  I have not watch the show yet, but I will soon.  I would never want to disparage my Brenda's chosen career as I am sure there is a lot of things that go into modeling besides looks and all.  And I am not sure Sasha even excelled at that.

But....working as a chef for a wealthy family that expects three gourmet meals a day requires some culinary training and technique that probably doesn't work with Sasha's one signature meal she makes.

ETA- Watching now, I didn't think Carly's dress was that bad.  It wasn't the most flattering, but it wasn't the worst thing she's worn.

  23. I haven't seen the show yet and won't for a few hours, but what a weird trajectory for Sasha to go from a model to a Quartermaine Cook lol.  No one would do that in life ever and she mentioned she liked to cook approx. two weeks ago.  I feel like she's as good as gone once the Cody/Mac reveal finally plays out.
