The same reason doctors on medical shows keep doing CPR and pushing epi until someone says "He's gone Doctor."

This is just the last round of epi.

  3. Why does everyone on soaps now need some 6 degrees of seperation connection?

      Because, apparently, you instantly care about someone if they're Asa Buchanan's first wife's niece's second cousin's grandmother's daughter's high school teacher's grandson's mistress's nephew's gay lover.

You can only care about members of "core" families. Therefore everyone must become one.

  5. Why is DAYS purposely trying to look like Peapack by filming in the employee locker area with unflattering angles?

He really should've just not answered that one but he's not the only one pimping the acting and they did the same thing under GW

Most of the days cast watches the show, but thats likely so they they know whats airing so they know what they can talk about because they are so far ahead.

  8. You can tell GH is bad when fans are attacking each other on Twitter over an actor who's only been on a few years.

    1. Cheap21

      Cheap21

I really dont think that says anything about the quality of GH

    2. frequentsoapfan

      frequentsoapfan

You've got people searching through hashtags to fight each other on something non story related. At least past fan drama was in regards to things actually happening on the show.

People like arguing. I'm away from most of GH twitter, but really Bryan went too far, and his family shouldn't try to defend his honor. If someone said his IRL family sucks then I could accept them getting angry and acting out otherwise leave it alone.

  9. Blackish went in tonight!

  10. How do folks still watch GH? Havent seen a full episode in months and don't miss the bad acting and storylines

I really havent missed it. I'll check out a scene from time to time. Be unimpressed and continue not watching

      SweetPea36

The scenes I watch are rarely done well; there's always the feeling they aren't quite complete. I've never seen the acting suck as badly as it does now.

  11. I was watching some of those DE reels and man some of them were awful. Yet folks were commenting on how amazing they were

  12. I'm so tired of folks trying to take the focus of BLACK History month off black people.

My mother and I even had a discussion about this today and the crazy ideas people are pushing lately from trying to exclude non AAs from BHM to the allhistorymatters loons to trying to exclude light skinned folks from being black.

  13. Lol in her new movie Merry Christmas, Baby! Victoria Rowell threw a little shade about those soap opera's  stories not being "as good as they used to"

  14. Pratt out as showrunner for Star. Good! Cuz he did his usual throw everything but the kitchen sink at the characters style writing all season. Especially in the finale

@DRW50 In terms of mainstream movies, yes. There are some indie gems that are lurking that unless you live in L.A. or NYC, you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. It's been pretty good, particularly for Black filmmakers and documentarians.

I can't completely knock it. Know of any other areas where Black filmmaker's work are featured as often?

    3. DRW50

      DRW50

I was talking more about their TV shows, which seem to be veering more and more toward milquetoast. I do appreciate the chances they offer some filmmakers.

@DramatistDreamer, folks want better but we realize we aren't getting better so we have to settle for the lesser of evils.

That scene with Mac and that girl was so skeevy. When he tore into his girlfriend, I figured she might take the carving knife to him...

I knew that boy would be an abuser a few weeks ago the way he was telling her what to eat and drink. I knew he'd go off on her after that critique as soon as he turned his head.

  17. The IMDb boards are finally being shut down

    1. DramatistDreamer

      DramatistDreamer

      Not surprised.

Over the years, it seems like they changed their policies and made it more restrictive to get access to post for newer subscribers on the one hand, while allowing the discussions to descend into chaos, snark and deliberately obtuse questions, rarely are they actually helpful.

It's a shame because the messageboards could've been so much more than they actually ended up being.

    2. SweetPea36

      SweetPea36

There have been so many really vile trolls on there lately. That may have been at least part of the reason. I used to enjoy going there because I always learned something, but that hasn't been true for some time. What I've learned there recently isn't anything I ever wanted to know.

  18. The IMDB boards shutting down reminds me of when TWoP shut down. I never did quite understand what board on boards meant

The board on board thing was supposed to mean statements like "I know this is an unpopular opinion" or "I speak for everyone when I say". Starting a comment "I don't get what is wrong with you people for not liking this episode" also were banned. Basically don't act like your opinion on the message board is more important cuz it is popular or unpopular. At times it turned into don't discuss issues you have with a moderator, because that has nothing to do with the topic you are discussing. The soap boards weren't managed like other parts, and the moderating wasn't consistent, but that's what happens with large boards. Threads for particular people also typically weren't supposed to be for "fans" only, so no one was allowed to discuss fans of a particular person in the thread about that person. (That I agreed with, because who wants to read about a fan war about a character when you want to see thoughts about the character's story.)  I lurked more than anything else, as TWOP started when Dawson's Creek was still on the air and under a different name. And years ago the unwritten rule of posting was read see if you like what you see then post, don't post to change the community.

    3. SweetPea36

      SweetPea36

Some of their rules made sense at the beginning, but when the more power-hungry mods began losing their perspective, the rules were often used to enforce agendas. I remember one mod who was a diehard fan of a certain actor. Not only were posters not allowed to say anything critical of his favorite, eventually he refused to allow any positive comments about other actors. As if we needed more proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

      Bad craziness reigned.

    4. frequentsoapfan

      frequentsoapfan

It morphed into don't dislike the mod's favorites or else they'll ban you for board on boards.

  19. Watched a recent clip of GH. Man the acting was terrible! And why did it look like a student film from the early 2000s?

ValenVarni's  GH. This is the Golden Era in Port Chuck---better than anything on television or the interwebs.   :D   Haha

  21. What is this trash on Y&R? Young people do not talk like that in real life. Using slang I heard on Nickelodeon in the 90s.

I wish older writers would refrain from incorporating slang or pop culture references into their dialogue.  They never seem to understand that what is hip now will be passe before it even hits the airwaves.

Yes I immediately thought of her kids. And truly fitting one of her last IG posts was a beautiful picture of her family.

      Soaplovers

I recall when she was on the telenovela Wicked Wicked Games.. and the show filmed out of order.. so in some scenes, she looked pregnant and in other scenes she didn't.. until the show had no choice but to write her pregnancy in as the show neared its conclusion.
