yeah... no. I'm sorry, but we need to raise standards for men on these shows. Women have to keep it tight and right, but men can just look like slobs w/ double-chins, and it's like that's fine? Nope. Peter Reckell looked amazing all the way until the end, and Matthew Ashford continues to look good even tho he's *older* than both of these guys. I cannot.

i mean people used to drag tf out of Freddie Smith and his double-chin for "letting himself go" but BD and nuEJ looks fine and dandy? Come on, now.

  2. since he looks like the spitting imge of Casey Moss, and he's the same age they should have just had him be a recast JJ. I do wonder if they cast someone so old playing younger because he's gonna be thrust into adult storylines? Like is is time for their younger dude/older woman storyline? He gonna start sleeping with Nicole or something? LOL

  3. no tea no shade, but EJ racast looks a mess in the promo and Bryan Dattilo looks a mess as usual. Why does Alison Sweeney have to be saddled with such tragic love prospects? Meanwhile Greg Vaughan's loking gorgeous as ever. Siiiigh! 😍

Yeah despite commentary to the contrary there were definitely moments on the show where EJ was a major machination to plot where he fed story of multiple players in Salem, and it was like that for like 7 years. There were definitely moments where it felt like he was involved in way too much at times, but the soap liked putting him in the thick of so many things, as a lynchpin. It makes me think they knew what viewers were interested in watching, and just went hog wild. When I look at what Days was in 2003 - 2006, and then compare it to what Days eventually became post 2010, it just feels like a completely different show. I remember Days in 2003 and 2004 and it was a hot mess, compared to what Days was in like 2012 and 2013.

EJ was often ubiquitous, even appearing in stories where he really shouldn't have been involved at all (every time he was involved in the whole Steve/Patch stuff, or he shared scenes with Bo and Hope it honestly felt like overkill). That Mayor storyline with him and Abe was ridiculous, along with having him involved so heavily with Will (more than even his own father). But the soap liked him being an agitator to Safe, and giving Nicole stories so that was that.

I really can't think of a character who was like him in that he straddled the line of 'good/evil'  like he did on the show, yet still received warm reception from fans and the audience, enough to still want him to either win or have a happy ending. You would have to go back a generation or so to find maybe Tony or Jack who came on the show in the 80's for that similar reception. I hesitate to find an equivalent of a male lead who played the role of anti-hero so effectively that he popped in all of his scenes regardless of context be it dramatic, romantic or humorous.

do you mean on any soap or just DAYS because that's literally Luke and more recently Sonny. Sonny legitinaletly transmuted the entire fabric of GH/soap to the point where "he's bad, but so and so are worse!" etc. became the norm. I don't think any other soap character has changed an entire soap or the soap landscape in the way Sonny has, for better or worse.

EJ otoh, was very meh but JS was gorgeous and charisatic and everyone hated/loved Sami and AS bolstered the character in a huge, huge way. JS/EJ wasn't a transformative character in the way that MB/Sonny was, because he didn't change stories/characters he touched like MB/Sonny did. You are giving EJ/JS way too much credit, imo. EJ was a really hot guy with an "untouchable" air about him, that was brought down to earth by his feelings for Sami. Sami humanized EJ which is what made fans start to fall for the character beyond his looks.

  5. i mean, we're in a pandemic and LOTS of people were/are home, so they were probably seeing uptics in viewer metrics we don't have access to and are probably able to get some decent coin from selling adds right now. I'm not really surprised. I watched is a few days ago, and the commecials they were running were for actual products, not just for drugs or promos for primetime. LOL

  6. the fact that they're not trying to recreate Victoria Rowell's reign by using MM's popularity is absolutely dumbfounding. Instead, they stay using MM as a launching pad for other characters. MM back as Hilary being Drucilla for the 21st century just makes too much sense.

tbh I hope it's true just to get some new blood. The suggestions on this thread were cute, but at the same time I'm not really interested in seeing actors from another soap being shuttled to yet another soap. We need legit new faces/fresh meat, that's part of why these shows are dying.

  8. since Sarah's leaving, they're probabbly gonna have "Xander" exit and the actor play the recast of EJ. lmao I've been saying for years they should have just done that, especially when Sami came back.

or, maybe, times being so touch... they might be able to pull Nathan Parsons... lol 😷

  9. whenever a showrnner/producer/writer waxes on about how "committed" they are to a character, you know it's just lip-service. LOLThe proof would be on our screen, which it's not. LIz is basically a side character. She's not even that old, but they are giving her kid front-burner story where she plays a supporting role, meanwhile even tho Josslyn gets lots of story, that doesn't take away AT ALL from all the front-buner story Carly stays getting. I mean even that whole Franco story was about her kid. A mess.

  10. these aren't the storeies that are gonna bring stay-at-home eyes to your show during a pandemic... yikes. 😴 Wall-to-wall boring. The lack of Xander isn't surprising, of course DAYS wouldn't use one of the most charismatic actors in their bag.

i'm guessing Sami's gonna dress up as Stan to seduce Chloe? 🙄

Jamey Giddens point out that there aren't any others being let go.

Boaz's claim was false. Either the show lied to him, or he lied.

that's what I'm saying. I think he was fired because he's an outspoken MAGA/Trumpster/anti-masker dumbo, and it's just bad oprics at this point and he wasn't needed anyway.
