Even Rauch said that he didn't want to tell the story because it didn't fit the show. He said he and the writers fought against it, lost, and had to tell the best story they could. The hilarious part is, when the shoe's cancelation was announced, so many sites wrote articles. On one news site, viewers wrote in giving their opinions of what led to the cancelation. A lot blamed Rauch because of the clone. Rauch actually jumped on the site and responded with what I wrote at the beginning. Btw, I remember tv guide said that the CBS executive who pushed the story on the show was demoted to the show's writing team when the ratings didn't go on. I have to look for her name

I preferred the 1st Vicky as well, though I did like Platt. Platt is now married to a woman who i believe is a women's basketball coach Thanks! As years go by, timeliness get worse for me. I can't believe I watched this play out forty years ago Thanks! I do remember her with an accent

It was either the end of 84 or the beginning of 85 when Alex came face to face with an alive Brandon, even though he died onscreen a few years earlier. It was revealed that he was living with his longtime Black mistress Sharina, and her adult daughter Victoria was his daughter. Brandon and Sharina died at the end of the story. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Victoria gave everything she would have gotten to Alexandra back then, and then she was written off and forgotten. When Rauch began, he said he wanted to bring on some of the Black Spauldings and Roger would play a big part in that, but then Michael and then his replacement were fired, and stories were changed. He eventually brought on Victoria's daughter Vicky, but really didn't do anything with her (I don't know if that was him or P&G because I didn't see why he would bring her on and not do much with her). In short, we the viewers knew about Victoria for years, Roger didn't and I don't know about the rest of Springfield because the story climaxed I believe in Barbados. And I do remember him saying that Holly was either going to be involved in Roger's story, or back in his sphere again, which is probably why he started playing them in scenes again.

I can't clearly remember, but did Lacey arrive during the previous writers, and Long wrote her out pretty soon after she returned? That's why I always wondered if Todd was planned and cast before she returned, and she turned him into Frank and created Harley. And wasn't both of their first episode the one when she gave birth to Daisy after Alan Michael and Dinah crashed into their car on a motorcycle? I don't remember Harley showing up first

There was actually a gap. He fired Marj in 1997, and I think it was 1998 when he brought her back because he said she was needed for the Vicky story. She was on recurring, so when AMC offered her a contract she left, and Rauch was mad because he said he was really going to use her. His fault for not bringing her back on contract

I don’t remember the year, but there was a time when he dropped Ron Raines down to recurring, then at some point put him back on contract Question, after Philip was "killed off" and then the show wanted him back, anyone know what they planned to do with him had Grant returned? I always wondered if they planned on having him do a lot of the villain stuff they had Alan do, and if Alan would've been on the backburner. Didn't they first try and get him to come back before the reveal that Philip was alive, Grant said no, so the mystery dragged on? Anyone have any idea?

Yes, I remember him saying this when he fired Dusay, that they served the same function. But then he actually made them the same with the rewrite of Amanda being their sister, which was dumb. In my mind, I always felt like it was an age thing (getting rid of the older actress). I liked Poser, and didn't want her gone either. But when he let go of Alan Michael and Lucy, I do remember him saying he wanted to pare down the Spauldings

Maeve died in a helicopter crash. I believe it was just her and a pilot. I think she was doing a story because I think I remember her talking into a tape recorder at the time. And I believe Rauch fired the Alan Michael, Lucy and Zachary actors/actress. I remember him saying he wanted to reduce some of the Spauldings, which is why he fired Dusay. I also remember Rauch saying angels will no longer exist on the show. When he was fired, Brody (can't spell his last name), said there had been talks that Laibson might've turned Zachary into a real person before he was fired.

I don't know if Ehlers left her first husband for Derwin, but they were together when they left in 93, and she did get married in 91 (i remember she took an extended leave for her honeymoon. I don't remember details but Alan Michael had her go into hiding, it involved Roger and a cohort of his). Somewhere in these pages, posters on here said the other one was Mallet number two, Rob Borgue, who didn't leave his wife, but then ended up with the actress who played Marina. Supposedly, Wheeler liked their off screen chemistry and paired them together on screen.

Mart was always my favorite. The day the recast was announced on screen, my household went into an uproar. I can still remember asking why they got that puny man to play Ed. People could talk about Mart's weight but we didn't see it, we just saw Ed. I only started liking Simon when he came back. There was so much cast turnover after he left, so it was good to see a familiar face, especially because I never took to Van Vleet.

The guy at 6:47 is Dylan, Billy and Reva's son, and real life son of the late Cloris Leachman. In the youtube comments, (on this video or a similar one), someone in the comments said the one labeled 1967-1971 is fake, and because no episode has surfaced from this time it might be. Someone on this board who watched in real time should know. And they used the hands opening in 2007, the show's anniversary year. They have people recite the words Reverend Ruthledge would say to open the radio show when he was on it. I don't know what they did opening wise when the Reverend was written off I never read the issue, so does anyone know the reasons SOD gave for naming GL, the best show of 1985?

I haven't seen it since it aired but I believe AM had a scene with Michelle at Maureen's repose, and I had to remember they were cousins. Weird because Carl Evans' AM was a fixture at the Bauer House, but they seem to move him futher away from them when Rick Hearst took over, and this was even when Blake faked a pregnancy to marry him, and then a miscarriage after they married

I'm playing catchup after not being on site for a few days, so I'll say this instead of more quote replies. First, I never knew Roger had a vasectomy, so this was missed with Hart, and the baby Mindy miscarried (for me a fail with Calhoun/Curlee/Demorest/Reilly. Mindy giving birth to Roger's son would of had major consequences for them, and everyone connected to them, more far reaching than Nick). Also, I always thought it was a mistake to downplay a lot of Roger's past. Dealing with them the right way would have gone to show how much he changed after falling off the cliff, and realistically, those who knew him wouldn't have believed him. It's kind of if he had to earn it. But I think they chose to sweep it under the rug to justify Alex marrying him. Though it made for great story, I don't see why she would marry him knowing/learning about his history. And ignoring Rita was unforgivable
