True Story 'Man Next Door'  6/13/59....Leona Green

    EILEEN FULTON
TRUE STORY Sally Davis "Darien Original" 6/13/1959

Which of these dates is right?

According to the TV Listings on newspapers.com, both, lol.  One entry shows "Darien Original" airing June 6; the others show it airing June 13.  For "Man Next Door (which has more entries)," shows it airing June 13, while others show it airing June 20.  Maybe different stations aired at different times?  I noticed that happening with another show around that time.  Maybe go with June 6 for Darien and June 13 for Man Next Door?  Or do you have something else for June 6?

  2. The Library of Congress added a 1945 episode of The Guiding Light to its National Recording Registry.

The Guiding Light (Nov. 22, 1945)
The Guiding Light was the longest-running scripted program in broadcast history, running from 1937 until 2009 on radio and television. The program was notable as an archetype of the highly populated radio "soap opera" genre and as a breakthrough success of the innovative and prolific scriptwriter, Irna Phillips, whom many credit with inventing the genre. Although the later TV series revolved around the Bauer family, the original radio version focused on the Rev. John Ruthledge and his congregation in the fictional community of Five Points. Ruthledge's reading lamp, visible to all who passed his house, was the program's namesake. Of the show's hundreds of episodes, the registry adds this installment aired on the first Thanksgiving after the conclusion of World War II. With Ruthledge still serving overseas as a chaplain, his friend, the Rev. Dr. Frank Tuttle, gives a moving sermon to a packed church.

From what I can find that doesn’t look like good news. I longed for them to get the app together, but from their website, It’s Real Good TV is just a 24/7 digital channel. So you wouldn’t be able to watch the show as you currently do streaming, just based on what it airs on the network.

I think it will be set up to watch “on demand.”

Got an e-mail today, as a subscriber to the app, that the episodes will soon be moved to another platform called It's Real Good TV. So, basically, The Doctors content won't be its own island soon. I suspected something was afoot as the WTD app seemed neglected on both sides. As cool as it was to be able to have WTD on demand (even with many out-of-sequence episodes), I had my doubts about the sustainability and appeal of a subscriber app devoted to a single series, let alone a soap that many people aren't even aware of. Heck, if GH or DOOL were to put its 1970s episodes on a devoted subscription app, I wouldn't expect a huge customer base there either. I am curious about what the new cost might end up being, since it will include more content. I'm actually about 2 months away from where I started the episodes over (shortly after Carolee and Dan's wedding) so I still haven't seen most of the show.

Got the e-mail too and have also been wondering whether the fee will go up.  I believe the on-demand shows for the other networks included are currently free.  I'm not interested in paying to watch anything else on them.  Hoping this will fix the problems the current site has though.

  5. Thanks for the write-up @beebs.  I actually liked Jessica, but yes, she could be a bit prissy.  But that made her switch to bitchy Angel when she had DID more entertaining, lol.  I had a crush on Stephen Brooks (Joshua) from some prime-time shows I had seen him in, so anything he did on Days was okay with me.  :P  I did not enjoy the story with Don/Marlena/Kellam, at all.  Didn't like Don being involved in politics.  And I LOATHED little Johnny.  I was so glad when he was gone!

  6. JLB's version of Laura is like a different character from the 60s/70s version(s), but I still like her and like the idea of Laura still being around.  I've hated most of Ron's writing but this might be the worst for me.  Especially since it's going to be done to prop a useless character.  I doubt we'll get much reaction from the town.  Mike probably won't even be mentioned.

No, you guys do have good points. Liz Hubbard and Kim Zimmer would probably be better in solo chats or "couple" chats (i.e. with co-stars like Martha Byrne, Larry Bryggman, Robert Newman and/or Jordan Clarke). I agree also that Jada should have her own hour due to her soap work, as well as her appearances on Sesame Street and her choice to leave show business to concentrate full time on her artwork.

On a lighter note, I didn't know that Nicholas Walker played Austin Powers. 😜😝😂 People, proofreading is your friend.

I read it the same way you did, lol!
