  1. I love the lyrics, even if they are a little heavy-handed, but even in their heavy-handedness, they're necessary. I do have to wonder if they knew what they were doing with the words "chola" and "orient." I mean, "Latin" could fit for "chola" and "Asian" for "orient." That way, you run less risk of some obscure civil rights group burning your posters. The music...eh. The verse melody sounds SO much like Waterfalls, in that "I'm-a tell ya'all a story, y'all just ain't gonna believe it...tsk tsk tsk" kind of way.

  3. Thanks to Antenna TV, the massive crush I had on David Cassidy circa 1998 is back in full force.
  4. The last few episodes have gone by just a little bit too quickly for me. In particular, the stuff with Darren and the Phil/Ian drama. IDK, I just feel like they could have done more with the Phil/Ian situation. Beginning of Thursday's episode, everything was normal, by the end of Friday's episode, Phil had had a massive heart attack, Ian stung him along for what had to have been at least an hour, Phil recovered and then asked Shirley to marry him. I know EE usually does a day per episode, but still, it seemed very fast. And the Darren stuff. Sheesh! He wasted no time getting pissed about Jack becoming a partner, and the whole thing really just made both he and Max look bad, especially yesterday. They were both way over-the-top. And I don't even know what Jodie's point is anymore. I found it hard to believe she would be okay with being used a sex object to sell cars. The Whitney stuff is good, though. I've been liking her for the first time, and I hope Janine stay clean throughout the whole thing, just so Ryan can shut his trap. Boo hoo, no one gives a f!ck about your problems, Syed and Christian. Christian is ridiculous. They've been together for less than a year, but he demands they have a child? That's way too fast for any couple! But I guess they're on "gay time" just like Luke and Noah were. Anything that happens in real life over the course of several years is demanded by the fans to take place inside one year. Ridiculous. And Roxy is an idiot. I don't quite understand WTF is going through Syed's mind either. If he was against having a child because it's too early for that, then fine. But he's against it because of his religion? So he's okay with the gay thing, but he think he and Christian are unfit to raise a kid together. They are, but come on!
  5. They don't have parental controls on British televisions? Sheesh. It really burns me up because it's pure laziness on the parents' part. Don't want your kids watching EE? Then don't f'n let them!
  6. They could really start with a blank slate as far as Irma's concerned, then. That would be great, but soaps almost NEVER take advantage of such a perfect situation (like ATWT never bringing on Don's daughter Christina -- she would have been a good fit for the Aaron/Ali group or the Gwen/Will group). Bet's fabulous. Every inch of her is all woman, but she'll put a boot in your ass if need be! The Rovers team of Annie, Bet, Betty, and Hilda (with Billy, Fred, and others as well) that lasted through the 70s and early 80s is comedy gold.
  7. Those stories would breathe so much life into the show. I've never had a huge problem with the Sutherlands, but I wouldn't particularly miss them if they went because I think it's time for their era to come to a close. Carla and Leanne can stay, but Michelle, Maria, and Kirk can hit the bricks along with any substantial memory of the Connor bunch. Anna/Peter could be interesting and fun. For a second, I almost thought that Anna would be too old for him (old enough for people to comment on it, at least), but not really. I'd love it if Anna and Gary had strong ties to the Barlows, that would really cement them into the fabric of the show. I think Eddie can be hilarious, but Anna and Gary have always been my favorite parts of the Windass family. I wish Janice could stick around so that she and Anna could make fitness DVDs together! You know I'm all for shipping Fiz, Ches, and John away. I don't particularly mind Ches or John (except for the way he says "Fishwick," which bugs the crap out of me for some reason ), but yeah...they can go. Maybe Ches could stay to be part of the younger crowd because the actor's pretty good, but I don't think I'd shed a tear if he left. I'd ship Lloyd off with Chhhheryl, too. I still can't forgive him (or the writers) for the crappy way he dumped Teresa. The Armstrongs seem so boring. Izzy could have just stood on her own (........) without the family, and she would have been just fine. If Ches were to leave with Fiz, then little sister would really have no point or purpose. Rosie is SO perfect for the "de la" treatment. That would be too funny! Rosie is the type of character I love (one of those archetypes that need to be mentioned on DTS), that girl who looks and acts like a bimbo but is really a rootable person. They could do all kinds of fun things with her. Have we ever seen any of Irma's kids or grandkids? That would be a good way to replace characters like Graeme, Chesney, Izzy's little sister, Ryan, etc.
  8. Write 'em up! I love a good speculative fanboy read! Gary/Todd could be good, but how long are Gary and Anna gonna be around? With Eddie gone, I don't see them hanging on too much longer, really. If we have to go through another coming out story, I'd like it to be someone who isn't on the canvas right now, like they could introduce a mate of Jason's and have him developed just a tiny bit before Todd returns. Jason's head would explode! But he would definitely get over himself and give them his blessing, I think. Thanks for the Marcus clips
  9. I don't think I've ever seen much of Marcus, if anything, so I guess that was unfair. But...guilty by association I'd actually like it if Todd came back with someone, but like you said, having 5 gay men and 2 lesbians (7 out of 40+ characters, but whatever) would send people into shock. I would hope that in his time away from Weatherfield, he's gotten more assertive and confident. It's not out of the question that he would be single, of course, but I'd hate to have to deal with yet another story where a gay man falls in love with a "straight" guy who has to be dragged kicking and screaming out of the closet. But how many soaps have gone beyond that basic story without failing miserably?
  10. Crap, that might get me to watch the show again. I think I've already posted a couple of times about how much I want Todd back. They can ship Sean and Marcus away...send them off to be near Violet so Sean can be in Dylan's life or send them off to the West End so Sean can be a theatre star or send them off to Majorca so Sean can be a pool boy or send them off to Siberia so Sean can disappear and never be heard from again. Whatever, it's cool. But let my Todd stay! Patch up the Todd/Jason rift once and for all, give Eileen some good story (another love interest wouldn't hurt...), and make the Grimshaws an important part of Corrie again. Might as well connect them to Elsie since Dennis is coming back.
  11. I never heard that Honey Cone song before, but it's a good one! Sometimes I think they're a little shrill (I love Want Ads, but I can't listen to it on repeat like some songs), but they rock that one there.
  12. That's great news. I really hope this leads to some deeper development with Fats as well as his relationship with Mercy.
  13. I'd love to see more from the Beales, too. They should have expanded on Kenny Beale and his family ages ago, but it's never too late for Ian to have a cousin pop up and make his life a living hell.
  14. "I'm a victim!! I'm a victim!!!!! I'm a victim!!!!!!!! I'm a victim of the very songs I saaaang!!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N66FzKFa7Y This scared the crap out of me for a second
  15. Oh, trust, they were dirty as hell in the 30s and 40s. I'll link this one because it might violate board rules if I embed it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-n5vG2SjJY And this one's safe enough, I think:
  16. I miss BH90210 My only regret in dropping SOAPnet. And Felice was a hypocritical bitch. Give me coked out Jackie Taylor or spaced out Iris McKay anyday!
  17. Oooh SFK, I hope Antenna airs those episodes! I'll fix myself a mixed drink and invite people to come and mingle in my living room during the opening credits. Rose Garden!! Poor Lynn Anderson. One of the scariest mugshots ever.
  18. Obviously Thomas Law left because the baby swap distressed him. He couldn't bear to see his name roll up in the credits during this period.
  19. That sounds like a bunch of crap. Her daughter has trouble separating fact from fiction yet she's able to tell Patsy to "don't go back there." It doesn't make sense. She lets her 9-year-old daughter watch the show?
  20. Didn't she, essentially, call the show a piece of sh!t not too long before she returned in 2008? I wonder if she sees the baby as an opportunity to finally close the book for good on Bianca and EE.
  21. I wish the show would bring on an American family, or just a couple or two siblings or whatever, played by good American actors. It'd be something different and interesting.
  22. Is it true that Joan and Aaron lived in the same building in Hollywood when they were both aspiring actors? At the TV Land Awards a few years ago, they honored Aaron and had various people from his shows come out and share brief anecdotes, and hers was about how she told him if he ever became a famous producer, she'd eat her "haht." So of course she said she'd have to eat one of the "fahbulous hahts" he had her wear when they "were making Dyyyynasty."
  23. Yes, I love the whole country/country-pop renaissance of the early 80s. There's a nice, almost escapist sound to the music and the movies/TV that came out of it. You know Pam Ewing was shaking that flat ass to some Crystal Gayle when nobody else was home! Here's one of my fave Barbara songs:
  24. Crystal Gayle turned 60 last week! Her first single: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POzXY6BrAxY One of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M2cwZ9GOzY Such a lovely, beautiful performance...visually and audibly stunning. She really puts her all into every performance. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9saMzbU7yw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9saMzbU7yw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9saMzbU7yw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
