CBS has announced that it will air repeats of “The Price is Right” to fill the 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT slot soon to be vacated by “The Talk. “ Following the series finale episode of the veteran daytime talk show, which concludes its 15 season run on Friday, December 20, encore episodes of the popular game show will take over the time slot beginning Monday, December 23. Best known for his portrayal as Roman Brady on “Days of our Lives” (1981-1984; 1991-1994) and Michael Culhane on “Dynasty,” actor Wayne Northrop died on Friday, November 29 at the Motion Picture and Television Woodland Hills Home in Woodland Hills. He was just 77 years old. Outside of soaps, Northrop was married to “General Hospital” star Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) for 43 years. They had two kids together, Hank and Grady. In a family statement, they said, “Wayne was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s 6 years ago. He took his last breath in the arms of his family. We wish to thank the most caring and amazing place, The Motion Picture and Television Home for taking such great care of him. Wayne touched so many people with his sense of humor and wit. A husband for 43 years, the best dad ever to his two boys, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who loved his cows and was a friend to many.” For the last 35 years, Northrop and Herring ran their working cattle ranch in Raymond, California. In 2008, they acquired the oldest house (1886) in the area and converted it into a local museum and gathering place. The home is now on the registry of historical places and open for tourists. Northrop was staunchly committed to wildlife and conservation causes with the cattle ranch running true to environmental beliefs. Born April 12, 1947 in Sumner, Washington, Northrop graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. Following his graduation, he proceeded to travel around Europe for several years. Fluent in German, Northrop enrolled in Acting 101 at Seattle Community College upon his return to the United States. He previously had experience on stage as part of his high school’s senior class revue. After receiving good reviews for his work in acting class, Northrop decided to take on Hollywood. Joining the newly formed Los Angeles Actors’ Theatre headed by Ralph Waite in 1975, Northrop soon landed his first television role, a small part in an episode of “Police Story” after his work at the L.A. Helen Gallagher, best known to soap fans for her role as matriarch Maeve Ryan on the ABC daytime drama series “Ryan’s Hope” has died. Gallagher passed away on Sunday, November 24. She was 98 years old. Born July 19, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, Gallagher was a two-time Tony Award winner and a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner, who also appeared on the soap operas “Another World,” “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” The news of Gallagher’s passing was first announced by The Washington Post, which was confirmed by Edith Meeks, the executive and artistic director at the Herbert Berghof Studio, where Gallagher had a long affiliation. An official cause of death was not provided at press time. Attending the American School of Ballet at just 15 years of age, Gallagher first gained recognition playing a ballerina on Broadway, where she performed in the corps of “Seven Lively Arts” and “Mr. Strauss Goes to Boston,” along with the original dancing ensembles of “Billion Dollar Baby” and “Brigadoon.” It was in 1947 when she got her big break after being cast by Jerome Robbins to play the Charleston-crazed Nancy in “High Button Shoes.” She went on to perform in numerous other stage productions, including “Mame,” “Brigadoon,” “Hazel Flagg,” “Sweet Charity,” “Touch and Go,” and “Oklahoma!” Gallagher won two Tony Awards, including Best Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for “Pal Joey!” and Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for “No, No, Nannette.” Her turn as Irish matriarch Maeve Ryan on “Ryan’s Hope” in 1975 led her to win three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1976, 1977 and 1988. As previously reported, WWE’s “Monday Night RAW” is moving to Netflix with the world’s most popular streaming service recently announcing that its 10-year rights deal for the wrestling series will kick off on Monday, January 6, 2025, LIVE from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. Appearing on stage from his sold-out concert at ComplexCon in Las Vegas alongside WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque earlier this month, rapper Travis Scott revealed his new music will serve as the theme song for “RAW” and that he will be at the January 6th show. Lisa Rinna (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “Melrose Place”) is keeping the door open when it comes to a possible return to “Days of our Lives” as Billie Reed. In a recent interview with Distractify, the actress told the outlet, “Listen, I never say no, really, to anything,” when asked about taking on the role again. She added, “I’m always open to revisiting these characters that I love.” “You know I love drama,” Rinna continued. “So if it were right, if it felt right, if it made sense. I think I’m always open to it.” From her interview, it’s understood that Rinna isn’t looking for a full-time commitment right now, and there are reportedly no active plans to revive her “Days of our Lives” character on the series. That said, she did revive the character in 2021 by appearing in the five-episode series “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” (Chapter One), an original spinoff that aired on Peacock. That said, Rinna has stuck to her acting roots with her recent turn playing twins in Walmart’s soap opera-esque 10-episode advertising series, “Deals of Desire.” Launched earlier this month in honor of the Black Friday shopping holiday, Rinna appears in the episode titled “Sister, Swindler” where she portrays twin sisters Faith and Lilith, the latter of which is a long-lost relative who’s been secretly working with Faith’s boyfriend, Victor, to steal her lottery winnings. Despite being an ad for Walmart, the ability to play the dual roles fulfilled a dream for the actress, who indicated it was “one of the reasons” she said yes to the project, noting, “It’s classic soap opera. “The 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade” on Thursday, November 28 averaged 31.3 million viewers across all platforms, up +10% compared to the year ago broadcast which averaged 28.5 million. This year’s telecast makes it the largest overall audience for the parade ever. The parade was hosted by Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. On NBC alone, 23.6 million viewers tuned in during the live telecast (8:30 a.m. to noon), making the parade the most-watched entertainment show on linear television since ABC’s broadcast of the 2020 Academy Awards. Additionally, the parade garnered a 5.4 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demo, making it the highest-rated telecast since ABC’s special broadcast of “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” on December 31, 2021. Peyton Meyer (“American Housewife,” “Girl Meets World”) has joined the cast of “Days of our Lives” in the newly created role of Doug Williams III, the grandson of the late Doug Williams (played by the late Bill Hayes). His first airdate is set for Tuesday, December 3. Fans first got a glimpse of Meyer earlier this month when he appeared in the “Day of DAYS” sneak peek highlighting what’s to come on the daytime drama series this season. In an interview with TV Insider, Meyer describes his character as a “mischievous” young man, similar to how the first Doug Williams was introduced in 1970. “He’s in and out of trouble. No matter where he goes, chaos comes with him. He’s not purposefully mischievous or purposefully wishes harm on people,” Meyer notes. “I think it’s just how he grew up, that everything he does ends up causing a bad karmic chaos storm behind him. He’s a gentle guy and he’s peaceful, but it seems that he doesn’t make the proper choices when he needs to.” Meyer’s introduction to viewers comes as the series celebrates its 15,000th episode, airing Monday, December 2, which Meyer says was an “insane” experience, although things started “really down” emotionally. “The energy was really low and I had no idea what was going on. Since announcing plans to cease posting on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this month, “The Young and the Restless” star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) has followed up on his promise by going even further. Braeden has officially deactivated his account altogether. With his exit from X, Braeden is now posting exclusively on Instagram (including Facebook and Threads) and Bluesky, the new platform of choice for those defecting from X (formerly Twitter) following the U.S. presidential election and the Elon Musk-infused slant of the platform. In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Braeden shared a screenshot of the “Your account is deactivated” message he received from the platform upon completing the task. “Not going to support this MAGA CRAP!!” said Braeden in response to questions from followers on why he came to his conclusion. “Bye Felicia” commented Braeden in a similar post shared on Bluesky. Braeden, who is leaving behind his more than 190,000 followers at X, had previously said, “Since this billionaire bought TWITTER, I can’t abide the brazen looting of America by his billionaire buddies!” Further, “[Musk] wants to cut the budget by 2 trillion dollars; where do you think that’s come from? Former “General Hospital” star Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jasper “Jax” Jacks) is reportedly seeking to have his since dismissed wrongful termination lawsuit against ABC reopened, citing the network’s decision to rehire Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) despite both actors previously being let go in 2021 due to their non-compliance over the since rescinded vaccine mandate. In June 2023, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen Goorvitch, ruled on Rademacher’s lawsuit, siding with ABC wherein he indicated that Rademacher’s opposition [to getting vaccinated] was “based on health reasons rather than his religious leanings.” During the summer of 2021, just before Disney (parent of ABC) mandated that all employees be vaccinated or else face termination, Rademacher had been vocal on social media about his stance against the COVID-19 vaccine in particular while clarifying he was not against vaccines themselves. In an August 2021 post, Rademacher said, “If you want to get the vaccine because you have a fear of dying from this virus, talk to your doctor and decide. This is about freedom to choose what’s best for you. A huge percentage of our population have already recovered from COVID and have natural immunity, why does that not count? Please let that sink in. Taking the vaccine does not stop you from getting COVID, spreading it, or dying from it. Now would be a good time to be honest and start following the science.” Since the June 2023 decision, Rademacher has filed an appeal with the court, asking for a review of the case as he believes that new evidence will support his claims, specifically that he lost his job due to religious discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and violation of his right to privacy. ABC continues to deny any wrongdoing. According to court documents obtained by InTouch Weekly, Rademacher has filed a new motion with the court, asking for ABC to fix a paperwork issue that is necessary for him to continue with his appeal. Additionally, he’s asking the court to reopen summary judgment proceedings, citing new evidence that “provides compelling support for his political discrimination claim: namely, evidence that ABC rehired Steve Burton, the other ‘General Hospital’ actor it let go supposedly because of its mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy.” Lawyers for Rademacher state, “ABC’s rehiring of Mr. Burton, which occurred while this case was on appeal confirms that ABC got rid of Ingo because it did not like his political views. It confirms that ABC did not merely lay Ingo off, with the intent of bringing him back later, as it did with [Steve]. It re-cast his role. Further, text messages from producers calling the actor an “ignorant racist” and “nut” were submitted. “These text messages related to social media posts that Ingo made during the key period in this case, when the ‘General Hospital’ writers supposedly ran out of ideas for his character,” said Rademacher’s lawyers in their filing. “ As for Burton, Rademacher’s appeal claims ABC rehired the actor despite his refusal to get the COVID-19 shot, noting, “But unlike Ingo, ABC did not have any political animus toward [Steve]. It did not talk about ‘recasting’ his character during 2021.” Claiming to have compelling evidence, Rademacher’s lawyers point out that “ABC’s counsel argued that the politically motivated text messages ‘General Hospital’ producers sent to each other were irrelevant because, as with [Steve], ABC said it let Ingo go due to the COVID-19 vaccine policy. If so, then ABC should also have re-hired Ingo by now. It has not done that, and it won’t do that, because ABC had already decided to get rid of Ingo, to ‘recast’; his character, because of his political beliefs. ABC opposed Ingo’s ex parte application. The network argued Steve’s rehiring was ‘is completely irrelevant and raises no triable issue of fact in this case.” InTouch Weekly notes that the court had denied Rademacher’s request to reopen discovery at a recent hearing. Meanwhile, his appeal is ongoing. Rademacher first joined the cast of “General Hospital” as Jasper “Jax” Jacks in 1996, originating the role of a rich Australian businessman who found himself enamored with Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil). “Those whom choose to bully behind their power, will suffer their own consequences,” said former “General Hospital” star Kelly Monaco (ex-Sam McCall) on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this evening in response to a poster claiming the actress was let go from the daytime drama series due to “her actions.” “[Kelly Monaco was] fired for her actions. There was no vendetta. She did this herself. She phoned in her performances for YEARS. She thought she had more power than she did,” the X poster commented in response to another poster who alleged that the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, had a “personal vendetta against Kelly [which] created a hostile workplace.” Standing up for herself, Monaco stated, “I do have more power than a ‘job’ it’s my voice, my experience, my truth. You can beat someone down, until they finally find the power within themselves to recover with grace and dignity. Those whom choose to bully behind their power, will suffer their own consequences.” Monaco’s comments on X mark the first time since at least October 24 that the 21-year “General Hospital” veteran has spoken up since being let go from the series, with her final airdate being Friday, November 1. In an X post at the time, Monaco said, “It was not scripted,” in response to a #IStandWithKelly fan who inquired about a scene that saw Monaco’s character hold up the “I love you” sign with her fingers as she was being wheeled toward the operating room for surgery – Sam was donating her liver to help save Lulu (now played by Alexa Havins Bruening). Sadly, Sam would later die shortly after beginning her recovery from said surgery, with the storyline now leaning toward the character being murdered by an unknown assailant as the medication prescribed to treat her is revealed to have been tampered with. A video of Monaco giving a goodbye speech to the cast and crew of the daytime drama series went viral earlier this month. The video, taped on Friday, September 27, Monaco’s last tape date, sees the actress saying, “I’ve been on this lot for 25 years, and you have all been my family – not only my second family but my first family – and I just thank each and every one of you for all these memories and this experience that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.” She went on to thank casting director Mark Teschner for casting her not only on “General Hospital” but also as Livvie Locke on “Port Charles.” Outside of “General Hospital” and “Port Charles,” Monaco is best known for competing during the inaugural season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” where she won the coveted Mirror Ball trophy back in 2005. She returned to the series in 2012 during the show’s 15th season, dubbed the “All Stars” season, this time coming in third place with professional dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy, who later appeared on “General Hospital” as a boxer. Known to be a bit hyperbolic when it comes to his status at “General Hospital,” often claiming to have been “written out” or his “run is done,” only to return shortly thereafter, this time actor Kin Shriner appears to be done for good as Scott Baldwin on the ABC daytime drama series, according to some of his recent posts on X (formerly Twitter). In response to fans inquiring about when his next appearance on the soap opera might be, Shriner claims to have “no plans” of returning. Further, he said a flat “no” when a fan asked that very question. Shriner’s comments came earlier this month after he made a post highlighting the anniversary of Luke and Laura’s (Genie Francis and Anthony Geary) wedding. In the post, he said, “Me and Elizabeth Taylor were the original wedding crashes [sic] , Iam ok with that !!!” His Taylor reference came as he shared a screenshot of a magazine layout highlighting himself and the late icon from when they appeared in the legendary wedding episode. During the week of November 18-22, 2024, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” came out on top among soaps, topping “The Young and the Restless” among unrounded Women 18-49 (0.27 rating vs. 0.26 rating), marking the fourth time this season the half-hour soap has tied or beaten its lead-in in the key sales demographic. “The Bold and the Beautiful” tied its season high among Women 18-49 for the second consecutive week, and hit a new season high among Women 25-54 with a 0.41 rating. “The Young and the Restless,” however, prevailed in the demo, topping both its lead-out and “General Hospital.” Speaking of “General Hospital,” the ABC daytime drama series was down week-to-week among both Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.22 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.31 rating vs. 0.32 rating). Meanwhile, “The View” saw week-to-week increases in both key demos, up +0.01 in Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.20 rating) and up +0.01 in Women 25-54 (0.32 rating vs. 0.31 rating). With just weeks to go before signing off for the final time, “The Talk” tied its season high among Women 18-49 for the third consecutive week (0.17 rating), marking the fourth time this season it has hit a 0.17 rating in the key demo. The talk show is virtually on par with its year ago performance in both Women 18-49 (0.17 rating vs 0.18 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.25 rating). The first half-hour of “The Price is Right” tied its season low among both Women 18-49 (0.30 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.46 rating). “TODAY 3rd Hour” also tied its season low among Women 25-54 (0.40 rating). It surprised me because I was told they wanted Lucas back on contract when they allegedly reached out to Ryan Carnes, but he turned them down because he's concentrating on his music. With Van's casting, I thought they offered him the same, which they very well might have, but it ended up with him being recurring. Maybe it's because of his ties to another location, or maybe there were internal changes at GH. I can't say for sure.
