  1. Dan Feuerriegel, EJ DiMera, Days of our Lives, DAYS, DOOL, #DAYS, #DOOL, #DaysofourLives, Peacock, Peacock TV, #PeacockTV

As proclaimed in a letter he received signed by President Joseph R. Biden Jr., “Days of our Lives” star Dan Feuerriegel (EJ DiMera) is officially a citizen of the United States of America.

The Australian-born actor made his big announcement on Instagram, stating, “I did a thing. I’ve been here 10 years. Guess I now have to stay a little longer. Don’t worry Australia, you’ll always be my first #poppedmycherry.” He included several emojis in his post, including one of the United States flag, the U.S. national bird (American Bald Eagle), the Statue of Liberty and the Australian flag. He also included the hashtags “teamamerica” “citizen” and “stillanaussieatheart.”

As for the letter he received, along with an official certificate stating his U.S. citizenship, you can read it in full below:

    Dear Fellow American:

Today, you have earned a new title that is the greatest honor our democracy can confer–citizen of the United States of America. Congratulations, and thank you for choosing us and for believing that America is worthy of your aspirations.

Every immigrant comes to America from different circumstances and for different reasons. But like previous generations of immigrants, including in my own family, there is at least one common trait: Courage. It takes courage to leave behind everything you have ever known–your homes, lives, and loved ones–and start a new life in another country.

In making this journey to America, you have done more than move to a new place. You have become part of an idea. The idea of America is that everyone is created equal and deserves to be treated equally and that we are forever a Nation of possibilities. Since our Nation’s founding, that idea–the source of our strength and dynamism–has been nurtured, enriched, and advanced by the contributions, sacrifices, and dreams of generations of immigrants like you.

As you embrace the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and build your own life and legacy in the United States of America, I am honored to welcome you as a fellow American in our great Nation of immigrants.

Congratulations, Dan! Welcome (Officially) to America!

Series Synopsis: When Erin’s Dad marries Aaron’s Mom, everyone’s world is turned upside down. Erin has a wild streak — she’s funny, sensitive, and unafraid to speak her mind, although most of the time she’ll sing it (loudly!) Aaron on the other hand is extremely organized, super-hardworking, and absolutely certain that he’s destined to be a pop star. While they may not see eye-to-eye all the time, this unlikely duo is learning to lean on each other and their shared love of music as they navigate the challenges of becoming a new blended family, with lots and lots of hijinks along the way!

On Facebook, Melissa Archer (“Days of our Lives,” “One Life to Live”) announced her beloved cat, Bailey, has sadly passed away after a short battle with cancer.

“My sweet baby girl. My heart aches knowing I’ll never again have you on my chest when I sleep. Hearing your purr that could calm me in an instant. You always knew what I needed (except sleep). Your loving paw to my face when I needed affection, your warmth wrapped around me when I needed a hug,” said Archer.

She added, “I’ll never forget your insane acrobatic skills as a kitten, sling back flips just to catch the flying bird. Your talent for scaling screen doors when you wanted to come outside to where I was. Your personality was unique – you were funny, but loving, spiteful, but forgiving. You knew how to to tell me what you wanted and never afraid to ask. (Especially when I was sleeping). I hate that I didn’t see the signs sooner. You were so good at acting like you were just fine. I’m sorry the cancer got you and caused you any time of suffer. I’ll miss everything about you. I love you Bails.”

  7. Billy Magnussen, As The World Turns, Tell Me A Story

Billy Magnussen is set to star in another Disney live-action film adaptation of one of its signature animated movies, reports Deadline.

The “As The World Turns” alum will appear alongside Zach Galifianakis, Courtney B. Vance and newcomer Maia Kealoha in the Disney+ film, “Lilo & Stitch.”

Released in 2002, the original “Lilo & Stitch” animated movie followed a Hawaiian girl named Lilo who still grieves her parents’ loss after they died in a car accident. Now raised by her older sister Nani, Lilo is allowed to adopt a dog to keep her socially engaged. When Lilo goes to an animal shelter to see which animal she will take home, she encounters an “ugly” dog she later renames Stitch. At the time of adoption, Lilo didn’t know that Stitch was an alien from outer space, known throughout the Galactic Federation as experiment 626, created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba, who was arrested for illegal genetic experimentation. Now on Earth, Stitch fights to escape re-capture from Captain Gantu, hired by the Grand Councilwoman from the Federation after Jumba and Agent Wendy Pleakley fail their mission.

While Magnussen and Galifianakis’ roles have yet to be revealed, Vance is reportedly set to play Cobra Bubbles, a social worker tasked with keeping track of Lilo’s care. Kealoha will play Lilo.

In 2019, Magnussen portrayed Prince Anders in the live-action film adaptation of Disney’s “Aladdin” which starred Will Smith as the iconic Genie and then newcomer Mena Massoud taking on the titular role of the thief who goes on to win the heart and minds of both Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott) and the people of Agrabah. The film grossed nearly $1.1 billion at the global box office.

  10. James Ryan, Ethan Lovett, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital, Port Charles

If you tuned into the Monday, April 17 episode of “General Hospital,” you might have seen Holly (Emma Samms) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) working together to rescue Ethan Lovett, Holly’s son with Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), as he was being auctioned off like a high-end something, something as shown in the “Taken” films, albeit the winner gets to have the privilege of killing the Spencer offspring.

That said, Nathan Parsons (“Roswell, New Mexico”) reprised the role when the character last appeared for a few scenes in 2020. However, this time around, the soap opted to recast the role with daytime newcomer James Ryan.

    Courtesy of ABC (Screengrab)

In the Tuesday, April 18 episode, a mystery woman, later revealed to be Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), rightfully outbid Holly for the rights to Ethan after Holly couldn’t show proof of financing to the auctioneer. When it then becomes clear that Holly, Felicia and Tracy know each other, the auction turns violent as Ethan gets out of his ropes and helps the women escape leaving us to wonder what’s going to happen next time on “General Hospital.”

At press time, not much is known about Ryan other than his role on “GH” marks his first foray into soaps. Additionally, I hear the actor won’t be on the show for long.

Soaps In Depth first reported Ryan’s casting

Sharon Wyatt could really break your heart.

How dare you show me a clip of an emotional scene between female friends who no one is asking if they are lovers and are scenes between actual female friends and not just women who appear in scenes together to fill space/time. Not to mention, a tank top-wearing Mac isn't stirring jealousy among women and goodbye was a goodbye instead of killing a character off because you don't know what else to do with them.

What a difference the 90s had on soaps compared to today.

  17. Mischa Barton, Neighbours, The O.C., The Hills

When the show lost a critical broadcast partner in the United Kingdom last year, “Neighbours” was unceremoniously canceled after 37 years on television. Several months later, the Australian soap opera has officially resumed production in Melbourne, with all-new episodes set to premiere later this fall on Amazon Freevee.

In celebration of its return, several cast member announcements have been made in recent days and weeks, including word that “The O.C.” star Mischa Barton will be joining the show’s cast as a guest star, playing the role of Reece, an American new to Erinsborough who’s not quite who she appears to be.

“With Neighbours launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa’s caliber join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter,” said the show’s executive producer Jason Herbison. “Mischa’s character is dynamic and unpredictable, and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street. Our loyal viewers are going to love her, locally and abroad.”

Sharing her enthusiasm for returning to her soap roots, Barton says, “I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia — a place I know and love! I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with.”

Additional cast announcements include the returns of Lucinda Cowden as Melanie Pearson, Georgie Stone as Mackenzie Hargreaves,  Rebekah Elmaloglou as Terese Willis, Annie Jones as Jane Harris; Tim Kano as Leo Tanaka and guest stars Ian Smith as Harold Bishop, April Rose Pengilly as Chloe Brennan and Melissa Bell as Lucy Robinson. Previously announced returnees include Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson, Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy, Ryan Moloney as Jarrod “Toadfish” Rebecchi and Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy.

Running for over three decades, “Neighbours” remains the longest-running Australian soap opera, recently celebrating its 38th anniversary last month.

Upon its return, “Neighbours” will be available to stream on Amazon Freevee in the United Kingdom and the United States and Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and South Africa – Network 10 will retain first-run broadcast rights in Australia with ad-free episodes releasing seven days later on Prime Video in Australia. Previous seasons of “Neighbours” and many iconic episodes are available to stream on Amazon Freevee.

The show helped launch the acting careers of Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe, among others.

  18. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Steffy Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful, Bold & Beautiful, Bold and Beautiful, #BoldandBeautiful, The Talk, #TheTalk

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood not only appeared on the Monday, April 17 episode of “The Talk” to promote the upcoming 9000th episode of her show, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” she also celebrated her birthday on the set of the daytime talk show and announced she’s pregnant with her fourth child!

While receiving a themed cake from the show’s hosts, Wood revealed to the world she’s pregnant, stating, “I’m pregnant again… Every time I’m here I’m always announcing that I’m pregnant. All I wanted for my birthday was just to eat and sleep. But let me tell you, when I’m not pregnant, I’m a good time.”

This marks Wood’s fourth child with her husband, Elan Ruspoli, following their sons, Rise (born March 2019), Lenix (born February 2021) and Brando (born May 2022).

As for her starring role on “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Steffy Forrester, Wood teases what’s to come in the stand-alone episode, airing Tuesday, April 18, saying, “This is a real feel good episode, not a heavy drama, just a walk down memory lane with Steffy. It’s really fun. I’m super honored to be part of it because, you know I actually grew up watching the show. So to be part of the 9,000th episode is a significant moment for the show, but also for me. I grew up watching it with my grandmother.” shares MacInnes.

Wood later explains the dynamics of Steffy’s relationships, proclaiming, “I think Steffy, no offense Liam [Scott Clifton], but Steffy she kind of wears the pants in the relationship. She has more of the control…but then Finn [Tanner Novlan] is more passionate and just the fire is there. But that could change, it could be a transformative year.”

To celebrate Mark joining his real-life wife, Kelly Ripa, every morning on America’s highest-rated daytime talk show, producers put together a special reel looking back at his time appearing as a guest on “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee,” both by himself and alongside Ripa before she took over as co-host of “Live with Regis and Kelly,” and his numerous guest hosting appearances from that era of the show towards its most recent iterations as “Live with Kelly” and “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”

In addition, during the host walkout and first conversation between the co-hosts, Mark stated, “Hayley and Mateo Forever,” referencing the popular pairing played by the duo on “All My Children.” Also, psychic Char Margolis appeared and reacted to a clip of her predicting Kelly’s pregnancy back in 2000. 20. Emma Samms, Holly Sutton, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

Beginning with today’s Monday, April 17 episode of “General Hospital,” fans can look forward to seeing another return visit from Emma Samms as her iconic character Holly Sutton. The actress last appeared on the daytime drama series in November 2022.

In the newest issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now, Samms teases what’s to come with her latest stint, which finds her character in Venezuela looking to rescue her son Ethan from a “sticky situation” with support from Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner).

“As it turns out, they’re a very good team,” says Samms of how well Felicia and Holly seemingly work together. “You’ll see that the scenes are both funny and dramatic and I think that’s one thing that ‘General Hospital” strives for, which is to have both humor and high-stakes drama. It’s a great, great story and again, very fast-paced.”

Speaking of her return to the canvas, Samms notes that she’s back in the fold because of the fans. “That’s who we’re doing this for; everything we do is for them, and their enthusiasm and support is what motivates me,” reveals the actress of her reasons for returning to the series. “I feel I have to get it right, to entertain them; that’s what absolutely motivates me. I agree. The name-change is cringe, but so long as I get the same HBO Max content, then I'm happy. They honestly would have just done "Warner Max" and it would've served better than just "Max". This would be like if HBO Go changed to just "Go". It wouldn't work. Plus, switching out the black-purple scheme for that... generic-looking blue that so many companies use... a choice.

I think Warner Max would have made more sense as well. Someone even made a fantastic logo for that name using the current WB font scheme. I guess they chose not to emphasize the Warner part since they are merged with Discovery, and that brand would be lost with the Warner Max name. I'm warming up to the Max name since they have used "Max Original" on most of the key art for their original shows, so it makes sense. My issue is that Max is a name of a person. At least with Peacock, which is a bird, NBCUniversal could say that the Peacock has been NBC's branding for decades and made sense to use the name with their streamer. Max isn't the same in that regard. Again, it's just a generic shortened version of a name for a girl or a guy, whether it be Maxwell, Maxine, Maximillian, or what have you. Max would even make sense if it were the name of one of the Warner Bros. from back in the day. But to use "Max" as the name for your streamer, to me, is giving up.

Has anyone bought the SOD Y&R 50th anniversary tribute issue? Is it worth the $13.99 cover price?

I wouldn't say it is worth $13.99, but it's pretty good actually. It's about the same price as the GH People magazine issue and they have virtually the same number of pages. Ultimately, it's about branding and whether you think $13.99 is excessive.

    Considering a regular issue of Digest is about $6.99 or $7.99, I'd say it's worth paying $13.99 since it's a one-time occurence.

I like Noel. That's his whit humor.

That said I understand how you and others might have found it offensive. I do feel your pain when you feel you aren't being heard. The board needs an overhaul where moderating is concerned. Posters can continue trashing the board and other posters yet still continue to post on here. I'm not even referring to Noel.

But I understand how the game is played here.

What kind of overhaul? Seriously. Honest question. What exactly do you think Toups or I could do better when moderating the board? Neither of us can read every single post. When we receive reported posts (which are VERY rare), we handle them as quickly as possible and to the best of our abilities when judging the context of what was reported.

If you want us to become Twitter, Facebook or any other social media platform that polices posts by constantly warning members over some of the things they've posted, you'd be surprised who would be impacted by all that.

I've said it in the past, and I'll repeat it again, having to baby posters and tell them they are not being nice to each other isn't worth my time. I have so many things to do when it comes to this website that I should have a staff of 20, but no amount of revenue generated by this site can afford to pay a single person.

Additionally, people trashing the board means nothing to me. Why? Because if I gave a damn what people had to say about SON, I'd be a fool to keep it up and running. Seems I have thicker skin than most. People, including yourself (re-read your post), can say all they want about SON and the SON Community but continue posting because I don't believe in silencing opinions. Especially those I disagree with.

As for games, there isn't one being played. At least not by me and not by Toups. All we ever wanted for this place was a forum for people to discuss their love for soaps, past and present, openly. We want people to talk about their favorite storylines, favorite actors, worst plot devices, best and worst couples, worst soap, best soap, etc. We also welcome disagreements on said topics as debates are an ideal reason for a discussion forum.

Instead, one of the ONLY forums still in existence today that provides people of all ages and backgrounds the ability to discuss all things soaps (among other topics), and not just some random couple or other single-topic fandoms, is constantly being demoralized because people want to get rid of posters they don't agree with or don't like because of something they said. More importantly, people get up in their feelings and start attacking each other over nonsense. And people expect me to come in and break up a pathetic fight from said verbal attacks? I then have to decide who to ban. Who to warn? Why? Twitter and Facebook don't do that? Why should I have to?

Don't like what someone has to say? Ignore them. You can't do that? Not my problem.

    To add:

My comments are not meant to hurt anyone or make them feel less than others. I'm stating my opinion openly, for the first time in 20 years since running this place, with absolutely no compensation from anyone who dares complain about how it's run.

When we introduce advertisements to pay for the server. Complaints. When we have over a dozen moderators, it creates drama among members vs. moderators and that leads to the creation of other forums (which won't be named here). There are complaints when we try to be hands-off and let people handle themselves like adults.

There are days I question whether to keep it up and running, and today is definitely one of them. Maybe I should let it all blow up and burn down. Won't bother me.
