Did he? I wasn't aware. I do remember his amazing scene with Bobbie when she confronted him about Carly and he had his sad soliloquy about how he kept the card sharks busy gaming downstairs, stammering about how she always had a place to sleep - 'most nights!'
I thought the way they handled the Ruby issue during those Bobbie tribute episodes was very smart. Tracy and Carly talk about her and Carly says that what Ruby did would be considered underage trafficking today. Tracy reminds her that Ruby was a good woman and it was a very different time, and Carly just gently smiles and quietly says something like yes but it's still true. Great work by Laura Wright. She wasn't condemning Ruby but I think that was the best way to approach the issue. Norma Connelly was amazing on the show; I admire her more and more the more of these classic eps I watched, as Ruby was a fading presence by the time I first started watching as a kid. But Ruby, while she may have been a good woman, had a very dark and complex history. Which is something I'd still mine a bit today.
