The debut of “Beyond the Gates” during the week of February 24-28, 2025 had a halo effect on the bulk of CBS’ daytime lineup, with “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” up by substantial margins compared to their performance during the same week last year, Nielsen data shows.

The veteran CBS soaps also hit new season highs among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, the two key sales demographics used to sell ad rates for daytime television programming.

For the week, the network’s launch of its first new daytime soap opera since 1987, and the first new soap opera to premiere on network television since the debut of “Passions” on NBC in July 1999, ranked a solid No. 1 in its timeslot opposite “General Hospital,” where the two compete head-to-head in most markets.

With its 0.25 rating among Women 18-49, “Beyond the Gates” ranked a solid sixth for the week among daytime broadcast shows, up +0.06 week-to-week from the performance of the preview special “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood” (0.25 ratings vs. 0.19 rating), and up +0.09 from the year ago performance of “The Talk” (0.25 rating vs. 0.16 rating).

Among Women 25-54, “Beyond the Gates” again ranked sixth for the week, averaging a 0.39 rating in the key sales demographic, up +0.09 from the week ago performance of the daytime preview special and +0.14 from the year ago performance of “The Talk.”

“Beyond the Gates” marked the network’s best performance in the 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT slot since the week of March 7-11, 2022 among Women 18-49, and the best since the week of September 27-October 1, 2021 among Women 25-54 rating.

The Young and the Restless

As for the rest of the CBS lineup, “The Young and the Restless” was down slightly week-to-week among Women 25-54, averaging a 0.52 rating for the week, but the soap did manage to see an increase over its performance during the same week last year (0.52 rating vs. 0.45 rating). Additionally, among Women 18-49, the perennial ratings leader among daytime dramas was up week-to-week (0.35 rating vs. 0.31 rating) and year-to-year (0.35 rating vs. 0.30 rating).

The Bold and the Beautiful

“The Bold and the Beautiful” was also a big winner, up across the board. Among Women 18-49, the half-hour soap averaged a 0.31 rating, up +0.03 from one week earlier, and up +0.05 over its performance during the same week last year. Meanwhile, among Women 25-54, the soap hit a 0.47 rating for the week, up +0.02 from last week and +0.08 compared to the same week last year (0.47 rating vs. 0.39 rating).

General Hospital

Opposite its first soap competition since the cancellation of “As The World Turns” in October 2010, “General Hospital” was down week-to-week among both demographics, averaging a 0.19 rating among Women 18-49 and a 0.28 rating among Women 25-54.

The Price is Right

Elsewhere, “The Price is Right” remained the top show in key demos, with the game show’s second half-hour flat week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.39 rating), while the first half-hour saw a nice week-to-week uptick (0.38 rating vs. 0.34 rating).

The Drew Carey-hosted program was steady among Women 25-54 rating, with only the second half-hour posting week-to-week and year-to-year declines, albeit nothing to be concerned about.

    • Mansion of the Damned sure is a "talkative" horror movie.  In the past when I've watched those episodes, I was paying attention to The Edge of Night characters and not really zeroing in on the rehearsals/blocking/filming of the actual movie.  This time I've been following the plot of Mansion of the Damned pretty closely, and all I can say is Hester Atherton and Nicholas Harriman are about the most chit-chatty Witch and Devil I've ever heard in my life!
    • Ashley and Derek have been so isolated that I need the show to develop something, anything to justify their presence. It's not that I think Joey being her father will be the greatest story ever told but at least it would be something and connect her to more characters. I just need the show to move forward with them. Out of all the characters, these are the only two with no storyline/development. We have recurring characters who are better used with less screentime. If the show is going to keep them on contract they need to do something with them.
    • I never thought I'd say it, but SC is B&B's best male actor - by far. SK is next. Has there ever been a US soap that has so much female talent surrounding by Himbos? KKL, JMW, HT, KB, AN, RB could be/have been leading ladies on any other soap. Even the secondary females are the ones who carry their scenes. It's been rare periods when B&B actually had a few solid male cast members. JMW really did a great job in the scenes with AN. Considering everything we've witnessed the past couple of years with Steffy/Hope, I thought reveal may ring hollow. JMW proved me wrong. No doubt this is Emmy material.
    • You won't even accept a minute cameo from Ms Marcil herself so she can collect her cheque?
    • Which has also slowed down from 100 pages a day, but I digress.

Yeah. When even I am getting annoyed with it (and still need to catch up on DAYS new team...two weeks behind now grrr) enough to take a break...and B&B holds my interest more for a show where nothing is going on...it's a BAD sign.   Seriously thinking about that break until

Then we go from there. I just can't believe JG just went and lost all the momentum that was built up over the last month. And during May Sweeps, too? No, ma'am.
    • Works for me!!! Just the back of some brunettes head and a hug lol on the Island And also, I like how it's brand new info Mo was good at his job in the 90's.  That's pretty much the entire reason he's still on the show.
    • I recently edited an older episode to do a Denise Alexander edit but Mo was in scenes & I had forgotten that back then he was actually good at his job.  The contrast with today is well alarming.

"Brenda. I quit the business! It's done!" The. End.
    • Sonny looking down at the floor today and for a few episodes is worse.  LW at least brings energy and Steve seems engaged. I would cut Mo at this point.  The love fests with Laura and on and on with everyone.  Just go find Brenda off screen and beg for her forgiveness.  THX, BYE!
