You're The One That I Want Now Conducting Casting Calls

"Grease" is the word in October and November when NBC begins its search for the romantic lead roles of its new talent competition series "You're the One That I Want." Open calls will take place in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles for a chance to star in the new Broadway production of "Grease" which will debut in June 2007.

Casting producers are seeking individuals 18 years of age and older with singing, acting and dancing abilities. Candidates are asked to be prepared with two songs: one from a selected list of "Grease" songs and the second can be any non-"Grease" song of their choice. Prospective participants can visit NBC.com for further details and a complete list of approved "Grease" songs -- including some other suggestions from the era.

The first to arrive in line will be given priority wristbands and guaranteed to be seen by the casting producers; however, those not receiving wristbands will be allowed to audition if time allows (access dependent upon location turnout).

Casting calls will be held in the following locations:

OCTOBER 20

CHICAGO

Portage Theater

4050 N. Milwaukee Avenue

Time: 8 a.m.

(Callbacks for successful candidates will be on October 21 and 22)

OCTOBER 27

NEW YORK

1564 Broadway at 47th Street

Time: 8 a.m.

(Callbacks for successful candidates will be on October 28 and 29)

NOVEMBER 10

LOS ANGELES

Venice High School ("Rydell High")

13000 Venice Boulevard

Time: 8 a.m.

(Callbacks for successful candidates will be on November 11 and 12)

"You're the One That I Want" is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Al Edgington ("Last Comic Standing," "The Amazing Race") and Lou Stroller ("Tomb Raider," "The Rock," "Scarface") and Paul Telegdy, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, BBC Worldwide, are the executive producers.

I saw this mentioned during America's Got Talent over the summer. I wonder if this is a true revival of the original musical or one of the newer adaptations which melds the original stage version with the movie (including some of the better known songs from the movie).
