  1. I'm falling in love with another new discovery of mine from the 70's, Richard Barnes: <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="420" height="339"><param name="movie" value="http://www.123video.nl/123video_share.swf?mediaSrc=440351" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><embed src="http://www.123video.nl/123video_share.swf?mediaSrc=440351" quality="high" width="420" height="339" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></object> This song barely squeaked into the UK top 40, but DAMN if he and it aren't GORGEOUS. This song kind of reminds of early Bee Gees hits.
  2. Yeah, right. I thought we'd moved past the "bi" thing sticking your toes in the water stuff. I know anytime I had a man tell me he was "bi" I told him to back the hell up and leave me alone! I'm listening to glistening orchestral soul today, Ronnie Dyson "If You Let Me Make Love To You (Then Why Can't I Touch You)" Sylph, you'll love the strings in this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6VcUbY_M1M This song was from the broadway show "Salvation". the show wans't a huge hit, but this song was, going to number 8 in the spring of 1970.
  3. Time to shower you with obscure girl group goodness. The POPPIES, lead by Dorothy Moore (Who had a huge soul hit in the late 70's with "Misty Blue")singing "Lullaby Of Love" on Hoss Allen's show "The Beat!!!" produced at WFAA in Dallas, Texas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbBpkxxbwfQ
  4. Doesn't look too good, either. When are we gonna get a FULL STEREO Cd release of the full length original theme? I want a CLEAR, CLEAN release of this version of the theme:
  5. Now, WHO remember this one hit by Louie Louie. He originally played Madonna's boyfriend in the Borderline video... and then got his own record deal. I used to have a full size POSTER of him!
  6. This is one from a few years ago which I really liked alot. i think it's the only hit song I can think of in at least 25 years that's had a harpsichord as the predominant instrument: And this another late 90's song I really liked alot:
  7. Yes, I do occasionaly. I like some of her stuff, but I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a fan or anything. the only modern group I'm really a fan of is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP3JBmZPKdE and although it's 10 years old at this point:
  8. And I've also been grooving to this one tonight. A perennial favorite of mine, and every other dance hall floozy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJv5qLsLYoo
  9. I'm having a SAW attack tonight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGVjLS4EAII And although it's not SAW, it's from that same time period.. this song always rocked my world, Yazz and the Plastic Population: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeyOnNple4M&feature=related]
  10. This is another dance song I just LOVE, German singer but sung in English: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuMA8MEh6Dw
  11. The cue at 7:25 is another one from the movie soundtrack that was used all over the place on Y&R... and one of the few that has been used in the last 10 years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=widx3Dtp4Pg Now in this clip... the piece that begins at :58 is another frequently used one that was primarily used with Hasselhoff's Snapper, but not exclusively: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-6xxue1h-4&feature=related
  12. This is ANOTHER piece that is SORELY SORELY missed on this show today. It's another Winn/Todd/McGinnis piece... the one that starts at 3:30. such BEAUTIFULLY shot scenes!! And although this clips starts out with "Lost Hope", the piece that begins at 3:30 was a STAPLE for so many many years. Damn I miss it. Looking at these productions values in these scenes it makes you realize how far this show has fallen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZkpEaBKVCU
  13. I believe so, SFK. But not only the theme, as you know.... but Y&R utilized several other pieces from that movie's soundtrack as background music. The insturmental version of the title song was used quite often... a re-recorded version of the title song was even used during Colleen's death.
  14. Here's another one of my favorite pieces from Winn/McGinnis/Todd... and notice how much NICER Diamont looks WITHOUT his chest waxed! He would be a perfect specimen if he just had a package: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLRNU5Q1R4Q
  15. Here's the original movie version of the Y&R theme before there even WAS a Y&R. Now, this movie version was used on the show during really BIG watershed moments. This is a version they need to pull out NOW every once in a while: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNwbnQAJHhc&feature=related
  16. That's no reason for him to leave it off his resume'. he's just ashamed about a daytime credit, that's obvious. And 9 times out of 10, when it comes to soap scores, composers don't own the rights. On TV, when a composer scores a show, it's almost always a "Work for hire" contract, where the show itself retains all rights to the music. This does not happen, of course, when shows use pop music within the body of the show, or if they use pieces from places like the Chappell music library.
  17. Wow... someone's actually came out with a dance tune recently which I LIKE... it's a re-working of the original song by the Flirtations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6K0V7ijguo This is the original:
  18. This is another one of my disco favorites (her gown is DIVINE!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6wfkPCIzLw
  19. Today it's blues singer Mitty Collier:
  20. And another point. Someone is getting RICH from medical procedures, when it didn't used to be that way. In the 70's... if you were well off enough to lay your hands on 20 grand, you really didn't need health insurance, now it seems to be REQUIRED for everyone, because they charge out the butt for EVERYTHING. A perfect example from my own life: 1987- Emergency room visit, abdominal ultrasound - 650$ 2008- emergency room visit, abdominal ultrasound- 4,850$ Now, tell me why the cost of such a thing would go up 8 TIMES in 20 years? I know prices increase over time, but going by health care's model things should be like this: 1987 minimum wage- 3.00$ per hour 2008 minimum wage- 24.00$ per hour 1987 Ford Ranger (I bought one) 9,000$ 2008 Ford Ranger - 72,000$ Now, does a Ford Ranger cost 72,000$? Can you work at Mickey D's for 24$ an hour? Yeah... didn't think so.
  21. I've heard arguments on both sides, Max.... so either someone is lying, or there are ISOLATED problems with wait times that are used as anecdotal evidence. I think if there was widespread issues of people not getting treatment there would be PICKETING, PROTESTS, SOMETHING other than an occasional magazine or newspaper article by some guy. The picture this guy in the article paints, Max... does not line up with the public attitude in Canada. If someone is going to DIE without treatment, theyr'e not going to just sit down and shut up. And if a government run option is going to cause rationed care... then tell me this, how come Medicare hasn't caused that already? My personal opinion is that THIS is what needs to happen: 1: Require ALL hospitals to be non-profit. about a third of them already are (the catholic hospitals) 2: Require utility companies to provide service to hospitals at COST (Require this for schools and all government buildings as well... it's the price they pay for selling to a captive audience, after all, do you have a choice of providers for your electricity?) 3: Deny ANY government assistance or payment, INCLUDING medicare to anyone making over 200,000$ per year. 4: Provide Medicaid to ALL people making under 200 percent of the poverty level (Around 20,000$ for a single person) and allow people with incomes from 200%-300% of the poverty level to buy into Medicaid for a small monthly charge (like around 50$ per month per person) 5: People who have income between 30,000$ and 200,000$ would be on their own to get insurance, but eliminate the pre-existing condition thing... , however, people in this bracket would fall into medicaid if they didn't have insurance and their medical bills in one year totalled more than 30 percent of their yearly income. 6: INCREASE the amount of nurse practitioners TWENTY FOLD (People are begging for jobs, let's TRAIN THE SOB'S!) And let them handle all the piddly crap so the doctors don't get bogged down with 5 million people who have a freaking head cold. Now, I know your'e going to say... WEALTH RE-DISTRIBUTION, and the RICH would have to pay increased taxes and get nothing from what theyv'e paid into it? YES. The taxes are like an insurance policy, if they fall on hard times, if they lose their shirt, then they CAN partake. My GAY, CHILDLESS butt has to pay several hundred dollars a year in Real Estate taxes to give straight people's children a FREE education. If they can re-distribute MY wealth to to people who breed like cockroaches, then I can expect some medical care in return if my income is low enough for me not to be able to afford it.
  22. Oh..... I LIKE that Dennis Parker song. this is another of my fave disco tunes... it was a fair size hit as well, number 2 on the disco chart, number 25 R&B, number 40 Pop. this video is hilarious cause Mary Wilson is waddling around 7 months pregnant, about to pop her gown:
  23. You know, Eric.. I FLOVED early 90's dance. When it went to trance, I bailed in a HURRY. But during the time I was into heavy clubbing, there was some GOOD SH!T out there. This was real popular at the gay clubs I went to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYK6l9ffehI And this makes you MOVE YOUR ASS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wRxseHV1kc
  24. I know.... long hair and tight pants, and I'm THERE, baby! (but not METAL hair)
  25. Here's a great one from 1999. Evie Sands dance remake of her own single from 1966, "Picture Me Gone":
