CBS Primetime Star Sees "THE LIGHT"

STILLWATER, OK - As previously mentioned earlier this week (See Story) a rumor began making the rounds that an actress from a hit new fall CBS primetime show would be joining "THE LIGHT" cast in a short-term role. Casting director of the SONBC blog and series head writer, Josh Hawkins is confirming that indeed the actress is on her way.

From the hit series, "JERICHO" cast and crew welcomes...

Pamela Reed to the series.

Reed who currently stars in the freshman series, "Jericho" has signed onto the SONBC blog for a limited run, about five weeks. "I have been a fan of Pamela's for years." Shares Hawkins, "And while watching her in "Jericho" I just knew that I wanted her for a role on the blog."

And what role is that? "Ms. Reed will be playing a character named Sandra who first interacts with Olivia [Crystal Chappell] beginning on Friday, December 16th. Reed will most likely exit "THE LIGHT" sometime near the end of January 2007, as "Jericho" returns in February.

"This story is an exicting one! It will incorporate Ed, Holly and Hope as well. Look for Mel and Michelle to play a key role as well." Smiled Hawkins, "I think I've said to much as it is."

Three Days After Phillip’s Tragic Murder… Lizzie is in her room preparing for the funeral when Shayne calls her cell phone. He asks how she is doing and she tells him that she’ll be all right. Shayne assures Lizzie that Marina, Tammy and he will be there to support Lizzie through the day…Lizzie thanks him and notices James at her door, she hangs up the phone and tells James to come on in…

Lucy and Alan-Michael [Heather Tom & Dan Gauither] awake, their first morning back in the mansion and it is obvious that Lucy is uncomfortable being there. Lucy questions if Alan-Michael spoke with his father last night after drinks about them not staying. A-M tells Lucy that this is not the time to discuss anything like that and while Lucy understands that she makes sure that her husband understands that they will not be staying in Springfield after Phillip’s funeral.

James tells Lizzie that he went to Beth’s room and she wouldn’t answer the door. James also tells Lizzie that last night when he got up to go to the bathroom he heard Aunt Alex crying, the toddler asks Lizzie why she looks so sad. James asks if it is because Daddy isn’t home yet. Lizzie tears up and tells James that Phillip not being home has a lot to do with it yes. Outside in the hallway Lillian is about to enter Lizzie’s bedroom when she hears her talking to James, she stops outside to listen to her grandchildren. Lillian is moved to tears when she sees Lizzie wrap James into her arms and explain to the young child that Phillip is in heaven with the angels and that he’ll be watching over them protecting them forever. Lillian is moved to tears with how well Lizzie has handled herself with James and she storms off to Beth’s bedroom furious!

Alan and Olivia are getting up and dressed as well. Alan tells Olivia that today of all days he is going to need her support. Alan explains to Olivia that he and Elizabeth had a stillborn child, but that does not compare to this, having seen Phillip grow up and into a man, Alan tells Olivia it breaks his heart. Mrs. Spaulding promises that she will be there with Alan every step of the way!

Lillian storms into Beth’s bedroom and slams the door, but it does not seem to faze her and Lillian picks up the empty wine bottle and throws it against the wall, jolting Beth from her drunken slumber! Lillian tells her daughter, “If you think I’m going to allow you to wallow in this bed all day and let your children, who need you, now more than ever…then daughter you are out of your mind.” Lillian strips the sheets off of Beth’s bed and tells her to get up. Beth continues lying in bed saying that she can’t do it and is on the verge of a nervous break down…Beth tells Lillian that she can’t do this and that it is going to have to be Lillian who is there for Lizzie and not her. Lillian retorts, “I’ve dealt with a lot of heartache in my life Beth Raines and I raised you to be strong and independent, to be a good loving mother. So please, please don’t fail me know like I failed you.”

Lillian is setting on the foot of Beth’s bed and Beth crawls on her knees and wraps her arms around Lillian and softly whispers, “You have never failed me. Please don’t ever say that you did or even think it.” Lillian in tears tells Beth she has to pull herself together for Lizzie and James. Lillian tells her daughter to get dressed and leaves the room. Outside in the hallway, she leans up against the door and begs God to help them all!

Beth has finally gotten dressed and is looking for a pair of black shoes in her suitcase when she hears the door open and a familiar voice speak, “Phillip Spaulding loved many women in his life…but my God he never loved one like he did you Beth.” Beth spins around and sees Mindy Lewis [Krista Tesreau] standing there and the women reunite and grieve over Phillip’s death. Beth tells her what the police know about the shooting and Mindy weeps over her beloved friends murder. Lucy knocks on Beth’s door and tells her that the limo has arrived to take them to the service. Beth tells Lucy she’ll be right down and asks Mindy to get her necklace out of the dresser drawer, when Mindy does…she finds Beth’s pistol and questions what it is doing here…

Beth explains that she took the gun from Lillian’s closet years ago after Bradley raped her! Beth tells Mindy that she has to protect herself one way or another…Mindy is still concerned but Beth puts the gun away and locks the dresser drawer and reminds Mindy that Phillip was murdered…and she has to protect her children. Beth turns to Mindy and vows that she ever finds the bastards responsible for killing Phillip, she'll kill them herself! Mindy is horrified and worried, but says nothing. Once Beth is finally dressed she asks Mindy to ride with her to the service.

The family has all assembled in the living room awaiting the arrival of the family limo to take them to the service when India VonHalkein [Mary Kay Adams] arrives to offer her sympathies to the Spaulding clan! As India is talking with Alan, Shayne arrives at the request of Lizzie who wanted him to ride with her to the service!

Alexandra, Lillian and Alan-Michael arrive at the mansion and Alan greets his youngest son with open arms and tears. Both shed a tear as Alexandra moves in to comfort them, in a way that no one else can.

Three Days After Phillip’s Tragic Murder…
Afternoon of Phillip's Funeral... The entire town of Springfield is at a stand still. Company is closed because of a death in the family as Harley, Gus, Buzz, Frank and Marina arrive at the church for Phillip’s service.

The Beacon Hotel is being cared for by hourly associates as Cassie, Reva, Josh, Billy and Tammy arrive. Cassie enters the church and has a flashback of Richard’s funeral, Tammy takes her hand and they walk in together.

Other citizens begin to file into the church as well as the limos carrying the Spaulding family arrive. India, Mindy, Olivia and Shayne go on ahead into the church and await the arrival of the family.

Alan enters the church first followed closely behind Alexandra and when he sees Phillip’s casket he chokes up and reaches out his hand, saying her name softly, “Alexandra.” She immediately takes his hand and walks to the front of the church and takes a seat. Once seated on the front row Olivia touches Alan’s shoulder, assuring her husband that she is right there for him!

Lucy enters the church foyer…however Alan-Michael is having doubts and voices them to Lucy, but she tells him that Phillip would want him there for Alan, for Beth, for Alexandra…and more importantly for his daughter. Alan-Michael says that he’s not ready for this…Lizzie takes Alan-Michael’s hand and leads him to Lucy, she says that he has to do this, for her. Alan-Michael gives her a kiss on the cheek and enters the church.

Beth is still sitting in the limo as Lillian and Lizzie wait for her outside. Lillian opens the door and tells her that everyone is waiting on her to begin…Beth says that she won’t go because if she doesn’t go inside, then this is no happening! Lillian tells her that Lizzie needs her to be strong now…and Beth finally agrees and enters the church in tears!

With the altar adorned with white lilies…a portrait of Phillip is setting to the left of Phillip’s dark oak brown casket, which has white lilies on top of it. The service begins with Father Ray Santos reading Phillip’s obituary…followed by a song and then Mindy Lewis who reads the 23rd Psalm and then speaks, “A lot of us here today was fortunate to have been loved by Phillip at some point in our lives. I, myself was privileged to have been loved by him, twice over. But no matter how many women desired or had him, none of us were able to capture his heart quite like the way Beth always did. The truth of the matter is any woman other Beth was just a second fiddle. Honey, he loved you…more than he loved anyone. Carry that with you always.”

Amazing Grace softly begins playing softly as mourners make their way to pay their final respects. After all have gone through, the family does the same, however Lizzie and Beth stay behind together. Mother and daughter go to the casket and say their goodbyes...Beth assures Lizzie that the two of them are going to survive this, one way or another! Lizzie tells her father goodbye.

Beth is standing alone in the church…she tearfully declares her love for Phillip will go on…memories begin to flood her mind of happier times...she vows that she will never love another man like she has loved him. As she kisses the casket, she thanks Phillip for always loving her through it all!

Following the services everyone goes back to the Spaulding Mansion for a service and Beth tells Lillian that she has to go lie down for a nap…

Upstairs she drops her earrings into her jewelry box and she sees her wedding ring from Phillip, she snaps the box shut and tells herself she has to move forward that he’s gone. Beth slips on the same nightgown she had on the night Phillip died and lays down to rest. She begins tossing and turning, as she does so she hears two gunshots ring out! And her mind races with memories…Phillip at the hospital, the flowers Phillip was going to give her, the funeral and then she hears someone calling out her name…”Beth. Beth…wake up.”

Beth jolts from her slumber and finds herself in another room that is not at the Spaulding mansion in the same nightgown and Phillip standing before her!

"THE LIGHT" Executive Producer, Josh Hawkins announced last week that Dan Gobble, longtime "Guiding Light" fan would be joining the SONBC blog effective immediately. Recently an interviewer with SONBC sat down with Gobble for his first interview in the position.

SONBC: Congratulations on joining "THE LIGHT".
DG: Thank you. It is a pleasure to work with Josh to bring the SON viewers an alternative to the tepid daytime world of today.

SONBC: Tell "LIGHT" readers why you have decided to join the blog now?
DG: Quite honestly, I was inspired by David Kreizman's previews for 2007. This is a banner year for the show with its 70th Anniversary next month. It was horrible, in my opinion, to see such awful projections for such an important year in GL's history. I joined with Josh to give justice to the show and also to give viewers an escape.

SONBC: Will "TL" also be celebrating 70 years of Springfield throughout 2007?
DG: Josh and I have extensive plans to celebrate the 70th anniversary. We are honored to be given the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with the viewers. They have followed this show for so many years, so they deserve to be rewarded for their intense devotion to the citizens of Springfield

SONBC: As a new co-head writer what are some of the plans that you and Josh have worked on to address the 70th year?
DG: We plan to celebrate the longevity of the show by bringing the viewers the same character-driven drama and family-filled storylines that they are used to. However, one of the challenges of soap writing is the balance between respecting the show's history and moving forward to keep the show fresh. In the spirit of moving forward into the next 70 years, Cedars Hospital will be undergoing a remodeling, which will involve the entire town. Furthermore, we will continue to use the characters that the fans have grown to love in storylines with warmth, heart, love, and community.

SONBC: The LIGHT had a slow start in the end of 2006 and some stories are in place, do you think some things will be rewritten to facilitate new stories?
DG: The Light has built a strong foundation for future storylines. We began our run by tying The LIGHT together with the storylines from 2003. Now that they are taking care of and that foundation has been laid, we are able to build on it to craft powerful storylines that the viewers will enjoy.

SONBC: With new writers usually come new characters. Are we going to see that with your arrival?
DG: When I first came on the show, I looked at the canvas as a whole. At this point, I feel that we have a strong canvas full of interesting three-dimensional characters that the audience enjoys. It would be counterproductive to shove new characters that the audience's throat.

SONBC: Currently scheduled for a return to the “LIGHT” canvas is three returning veteran characters, Alan-Michael, Lucy and Hope. How will they interact with the rest of the canvas and when do you anticipate their arrival?
DG: Each of the characters bring with them significant relationships with the canvas. Their returns will bring a great deal of drama to the town of Springfield. I suspect the returns of A-M and Lucy will be sometime shortly after the first of the year as the couple will be involved in the anniversary plans.

SONBC: In the past you have been very vocal about your dislike for certain characters that remain a big part of “THE LIGHT” cast, how do you feel about crafting stories for them?
DG: As a writer for the “LIGHT”, my personal dislike for certain characters does not mean anything. My obligation is to create stories for the characters that the fans love. I'm not simply writing the show for myself. My responsibility is to the fans. If there is something that they find objectionable, I need to be at least cognizant of their concerns.

SONBC: GL has become so many different things over the last few years with each regime change. What do you feel GL is about and how can you capture that through writing “THE LIGHT.”
DG: One of the overrarching themes of GL is hope. Not necessarily in a hokey "everything-will-turn-out-okay" kind of way, as we know that life is seldom like that. In a larger sense, the hope that GL brings is in the "brotherhood of man" that Irna Phillips created the show to emulate. Through the community, we are able to draw strength and courage from each other. I want the show to reflect that hope. Throughout the year, we will emphasize the community of Springfield and how through the relationships of the characters, they are able to send light "into the lives of others" and how it "comes back into their own

SONBC: Finally before we let you get back to writing, throughout the last few years on "GL" interesting characters and fan favorites such as Jonathan Randall and Dinah Marler have been introduced to the canvas. Will "THE LIGHT" be introducing these characters in the near future?
DG: We have planned some intrigue regarding the introduction of some of the 2007 cast in the next year. The introduction of those characters will put a monkey wrench in the lives of Springfield.

SONBC: Thank you very much for sitting down with us today! Good luck with the blog and we look forward to reading your stories in the very near future.
DG: Thank you!

Look for "THE LIGHT" to return after the NEW YEAR!!

Danny says that is probably a good idea, because with her gone it will allow them to know one another better and perhaps grow into to something more. Marah says she would like that very much.

After Phillip has gone, Beth begins to pack her own suitcase. She suddenly gets a painful headache and begins to hear a man’s voice. The man warns her that she’ll never be happy with Phillip…NEVER!

Phillip arrives at the mansion, calls the pilot to the Spaulding jet and begins to pack a bag for the trip. Downstairs Billy and Lillian arrive with Olivia who lies down on the sofa to rest. Billy receives a cell phone call and leaves to take it while Lillian goes to get Olivia some club soda to settle her stomach. Olivia quickly drifts off to sleep, just as Phillip is heading down the stairs, he recalls Beth’s proposal in the back of his mind and suddenly sees Olivia lying their…as she sleep she begins dreaming about Phillip and both relive the highs and lows of their short lived relationship.

THE LIGHT Opening Holly awakes from an uneasy night of sleep and pulls open the drapes of her bedroom hoping to see the sunshining today, especially today...but doesn't. The clouds are dark and gray, hanging low and the weatherman on TV is issuing wind advisories for Springfield and Oakdale. She rubs her throbbing head and decides to get dressed, she has somewhere to be!

Oh we never know where life will take us
I know it's just a ride on the wheel

Ed quietly sets at the kitchen table drinking coffee having just saw Rick and Mel off to work. Ed wonders if Michelle is away and decides to check on her as he is getting dressed himself. As Ed is heading up the stairs of the home, he flashes back to his last conversation with Maureen.

Rick and Mel stop by the cemetery to lay flowers at Maureen's grave. Hand in hand the couple walk together and Rick recalls to Mel that Ed and Lillian had an affair and eventually Maureen found out. Rick tells her that Maureen was an one of a kind woman and person, that she brought heart to the family and loved Michelle like she was her very own every day. Mel kisses Rick on the cheek and the two quietly take their leave!

And we never know when death will shake us
And we wonder how it will feel

Lillian pulls her coat tightly around her in an effort to block the wind as she walks across the lawn...recalling the night of the blackout, when it all started. Lillian Raines, to this day still felt responsible for Maureen's death, even though she was able to come to terms with it a few years ago. Lillian lays a light pink rose down next to the flowers already there and recalls the moment Maureen confronted her about the affair. As tears softly roll down Lillian's cheek, she expresses once more how sorry she is and knows that it will change nothing, but she wants her to know just the same.

So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the time together through all the years
Will take away these tears
It's okay now
Goodbye my friend

Ed stops by Michelle's bedroom...only to find her already gone for the day! He decides that there is no use in putting off what he has to do today. Ed gets the red rose from the ice box and heads off to the cemetery!

At the Springfield airport Michelle and Billy wait on opposite ends for two very special guests. Billy waves for Vanessa and the two embrace in a hug. Vanessa explains that she thought Little Bill would be there to pick her up as the two of them discussed. Billy informs her that he's in Tulsa on business for Lewis and she immediately begins to worry that Billy is working him to hard, he however assures her that he's not. Michelle meanwhile awaits the arrival of Nola Reardon Chamberlain! Once she arrives the two women decide to go get some coffee to calm their nerves.

I've seen a lot things that make me crazy
And I guess I held on to you
We could've run away and left well maybe
But it wasn't time and we both knew

Ed arrives as the wind continues to blow...he tells Maureen that he has never stopped loving her, till this day. Ed says that she is to blame for her death, he knows that and wishes that he could have switched her places because she would have been around for Michelle all the years he wasn't. Ed softly touches the engraving of the stone and recalls their last conversation. As he begins tearing up a familiar hand touches his shoulder and softly whispers, "She would have forgiven you eventually." Ed turns upward and see Holly standing there. He tells her, "I don't know about that. She was so angry...I should've left. Holly she told me to leave, why didn't I?" Holly hugs him and says that he can't blame himself, even though he wants to. The two friends stand there, crying and remembering Maureen together...after awhile Ed kisses his fingers and pressing them against Maureen's name, with tears in his eyes he leaves, as the wind slowly, for that moment dies down!

So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the love you gave me through all the years
Will take away these tears
I'm okay now
Goodbye my friend

Billy tells Vanessa that he will wait for her and to take as long as she needs. Vanessa thanks him and with a bouquet of flowers in hand she makes her way across the lawn. Once there she catches up with Maureen over the last year of her life, with Matt and the baby. It is clear that this is an annual trip that Vanessa makes. She says that Maureen was one of the greatest friends she ever had and begins to choke up...hearing someone coming in the distance Vanessa steps aside to a small bench near Maureen's grave, but out of sight.

Nola and Michelle arrive. Nola tells Michelle, "She was such a special lady, one of a kind. But I guess I don't have to tell you that do I?" The two women wrap their arms around one another and Nola recalls a hot summer day, years and years ago. Nola tells her adopt niece that she misses the small moments, the little things in life that she shared with her sister. Michelle says she misses those moments, the big moments and every moment in between. Nola picks up on something and asks if everything is all right. Michelle tells Nola, "Times like this is when I miss her the most." Nola questions what times Michelle is talking about, just as Vanessa is about to make her presences known...Michelle reveals to Nola in confidence that she is five months pregnant...and she's not sure if Danny or Bill Lewis is the baby's father. Nola embraces Maureen's daughter in an emotional hug as Vanessa slowly slips away, unnoticed!

Life's so fragile and love's so pure
We can't hold on but we try
We watch how quickly it disappears
And we never know why
That night at the Bauer house: Ed, Rick, Mel, Michelle & Nola have dinner, where Nola promises Michelle that things will work out and that she will be there for her, because that is what Maureen would have wanted. Later, Nola proposes a toast to the memory of her beloved sister and the family she loved so very much! The family toasts as Maureen's picture rests beautifully in the living room, watching over her family.

But I'm okay now
Goodbye my friend
You can go now
Goodbye my friend

BACKSTAGE UPROAR

Sources closes to the production team of "THE LIGHT" are reporting that contract negotiations for one younger leading lady are going into the night as both parties seem to be at an impasse as both parties are stalling!

Setside sources says that the executives of the SONBC series wants very much for the actress to continue in the role and are hoping a contract is signed. Negotiations between "TL" and the actress began prior to the Christmas holiday and have continued well into January, with the deadline being 11:59 PM/CST, January 18th.

"We do not comment on contracts negotitations." said Executive Producer Josh Hawkins. He did add however that when something was decided he would announce it immediately.

Recently Stephanie Gatschet sat down with us at a restaurant near the Stillwater set of SONBC blog, "THE LIGHT." She talked openly and freely about her role as innocent heroine Tammy Winslow, the current state of the blog production, her long contract negotiations and more!

SONBC: Welcome! How are you enjoying the new locations?
SG: It's no New York City, but we're all getting very used to it! We pre-tape a lot of stuff and we lump it together, so making the trips in and out aren't nearly as bad as we thought it would be!

SONBC: Production seems to have been at a stand still as of last week, any updates as to what is going on?
SG: Stillwater experienced back-to-back snow and ice storms, it shut down set for a few days. Grant Aleksander (Phillip), Beth Ehlers (Harley) and a few others were in Stillwater and they managed to shoot a few scenes. Production has resumed and an all new episodes will begin airing this week!

SONBC: Well that's good to hear. So how are you liking the current regime, this is your first interview since Gobble and Hawkins began thoughts?
SG: You know their finding their footing! It's going to take time, it always does but going back in time I think was the best move that they could have made. But from an actor standpoint I was worried that the same stories would be told all over again, so far that is not case. (Smiles.)

SONBC: During the ice storm, you and the executives had your own little storm brewing! Let's talk about contract dealings from last week, it was a close call.
SG: It was a very close call! I've been with "Guiding Light" and then to continue with "The Light" was a big question in my mind. It comes down to wanting to play good stories and being able to do those other things that you enjoy. I was pitched a story that would occur if I stayed and even if I didn't stay. I was made perfectly clear I was welcome and that Josh wanted me to stay, but if I didn't then the role would have been recast. Thankfully for everyone it worked out.

SONBC: Tell us, what you can about that story!
SG: The good thing about going back in time is that there are four relationships that haven't been explored: Marina, Lizzie, Shayne and Tammy so now we get to see that develop. I'll be sharing a lot of scenes with David Tom (Shayne) and that story begins in February!

SONBC: We were told that Dan Gobble wants to bring Jonathan Randall on this year. Is there any update there.
SG: (Laughs) Jonathan will arrive this year! His name is popping around the set, I just shared a group scene with Laura Wright (Cassie), Kim Zimmer (Reva) and others were his name was said a few times. It will be interesting to see what occurs when he does finally arrive. (Smiles and laughs.)

SONBC: You act like you know something more than you're not saying.
SG: (Shrugs shoulders) Maybe.

SONBC: We'll we're glad you're staying with "TL" and look forward to seeing you for how many more years.
SG: At least two! And thank you!

THE LIGHT Opening Holly pours herself a cup of coffee and slams the cup down on the kitchen counter as she lowers her head into her hands. She slowly walks back into her bedroom, pulls open the drapes to reveal a bright sun…she closes them and gets back into bed…

Ross and Blake run across one another at Company and Ross calls her out why she has been avoiding him. Blake tells Ross that she is not going to have this discussion with him right here in Company, in front of their children. Ross tells her to take them to Holly’s and she says sharply no! Cassie who is having lunch with RJ says that if Blake needs a babysitter then she would be more than glad to watch the kids, Ross thanks her and pulls Blake away, with Blake resisting a little bit!

Holly awakes hours later, having missed an important meeting at The Journal and lunch with Ed! She throws her legs to the floor and goes to stand, but becomes weak and collapses back into bed.

Having been stood up by Holly for lunch, Ed arrives home and stops Mel from going out shopping. He questions her about how she is feeling and if she’s ready to talk anymore about whatever it is that is bothering her. Mel insists that nothing is bothering her that she’s just stressed with work is all and Ed really shouldn’t worry. Ed reveals to her that if she keeps things bottled up and does not express her feelings or let Rick in then their marriage could suffer. Mel assures Ed that everything is fine, even though it clearly is not!

Finally once they are alone Ross asks what has been going on with her the last few months, that since Thanksgiving she has been short with him, putting him off, not talking and the same with her mother. Blake says that he knows the answer to that and for him to even ask is outrageous and insulting to her! Blake turns to walk away but Ross grabs and pulls her into a passionate kiss…Blake pulls away and slaps him across the face and tells him that she will not play second fiddle to her mother! Blake tells Ross he wants her or he wants Holly and leaves him to make his choice!

Hello readers! After careful thought I have decided that a the blog would undergo a name change effective immediately! After viewing the 70th Anniversary episode of "GUIDING LIGHT" I begin to think of what the show was about and have decided that at 11:59 CST tonight, the blog will have a new name:

"THE GUIDING LIGHT"

Of course it is what the original name of the show was, but I think it will fit the type of stories Dan and I are writing!

**********

“You know I just can’t believe who crass Eden was.” Lucy sighed, “But at least she’s out of your life more or less.”

Harley shook her head, “You know I really don’t care. Eden has been nothing but trouble since she got to Springfield, having her gone is a blessing!”

“I have to admit I thought you would be fuming mad. Her not wanting you to come to Chicago with Gus, you’re taking it very well sister dear. I’m proud of you.” Lucy smiled.

“Now…this is a sight!” Buzz sat a pot of coffee down, “How are my two favorite girls doing today?”

Lucy reached up and kissed her father on the cheek, “Daddy!” She smiled, “What are you doing serving coffee?”

“Madison told me there were two beautiful blondes out here.” Buzz laughed, “And I just took a shot in the dark, hoped it was my girls. It does this old man good to see the two of you together like this, you know.”

“You’re not old, stop saying that.” Harley lectured.

“Just keep telling me that okay honey.” Buzz kissed the top of Harley’s head, “I’ve got to get back to the kitchen, in the meantime why don’t you convince your sister to stay a while longer.”

“Daddy…” Lucy warned as he quickly walked away leaving them alone, “So he’s really doing okay? Regular check-ups, keeping the stress minimal all of those things?”

“He tries. Believe it or not but it’s Marina who keeps him in line most of the time.”

“I believe it.” They both laughed, “Oh.” Lucy sighed, “You know Daddy may get his wish after all.”

**********

“Hi Dad.” Marah took a seat at a table near the windows of Towers. “How are you?”

“Good. I have to admit I was surprised that you called this morning.”

“I don’t any problems against you.” She revealed.

“Not what you said when you left.”

“I know what I said and I’m sorry. Mother was right you’ve been very good to Shayne and I.” Marah smiled, “Can you forgive me?”

Josh opened his menu, “Let’s just order lunch.”

**********

Blake walked across the living room of the Carriage House in her light pink bathrobe and pulled open the door for Cassie. “Come in.”

“Are you sick?” Cassie asked and Blake shook her head no, “Then why are you still wearing your robe in the middle of the afternoon?”

**********

And Now "The Guiding Light"

Opening

**********

“You’re going to be staying longer?”

She shook her head, “Yeah, because you will never guess what my husband did?”

“No what?”

“He sold our flat in Europe. Right out from under my nose, without consulting me. He told me last night and he also told me that we’re probably going to be staying in Springfield, indefinitely.”

“I just can’t believe Alan-Michael would do something like that. That’s a play right out of Alan’s book, Phillip even, but not Alan-Michael.” She paused and thought back to her time with him, “What did you say?”

“Nothing, I told him he and Alan could go to hell and then I stormed out. Went and stayed with Frank and Marina.”

**********

Blake shrugged her shoulders, “Beats me. After I got the kids off to school this morning I just didn’t feel like getting dressed.”

“So things didn’t go well last night?” Cassie asked, “Oh my God, are Ross and Holly really having an affair?”

Blake shook her head again. “My mother was helping Ross get his position back at Springfield University and for some reason it was this big secret.”

“You’re kidding? That’s all that was going on?” Cassie was in shook, “Why didn’t Ross just tell you that?”

“I don’t know and even he doesn’t know.” Blake answered. She shook her head, “I just don’t know what to do Cassie. On the one hand he wasn’t cheating on me but then again on the other he kept something about his life, something important from me, that’s huge.”

“But you have to pick your battles Blake.” She said in a supporting tone, “Life is short, I know that better than anyone. So I think you should forgive Ross and move on to the next chapter, whatever that might be.”

Blake shook her head and shrugged her shoulders, “I love him, so much. That is not the problem, it’s never been the problem. First it was Tory and now he’s kept this from me. I just don’t know what to do Cassie, I just don’t know!”

**********

“Oh Lucy…I’m so sorry.”

Tears swelled in her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away, “I guess we should just be glad that you’re finally away from that controlling and manipulative family.”

Harley rolled her eyes.

“Still not getting along with Vera?

“No as a matter of fact. Plus, there’s more to it than that.” Harley leaned in closer to Lucy, “Vera is hiding something. What it is, I don’t know but I intend to find out what.”

“Something tells you will too.” Lucy looked at her watch, “You better get going.”

Harley glanced down, “Damn.”

“Wait…what do I do about Alan-Michael?”

“Hit him where it hurts. Fight power with power. I got to run, love you.”

“Love you too.” Lucy replied as a smile wipes across her face and the wheels in her head began spinning even faster.

**********

“Then stop acting like a child! I didn’t raise you to be some spoiled, little know at all girl. You’re acting like your mother wished Tony had died, but that is not the case, but you know it.”

“So I’m guessing that you’re not going to help me? You’re going to turn your back on me just like Reva done all those years ago.”

“You just don’t get it do you?” Josh shook his head, “No I’m not going to help you. You’re living with Danny and he has no problem in forgiving your mother, doesn’t hold her responsible yet you do.”

“Thanks Daddy.” Marah mocked as she stood to leave, but Josh grabbed her arm, “Let go of me.”

“If you want my help then you’ll work at Lewis, just like Bill did. We’ll put you in an office and you start tomorrow.”

She shook her head, “I don’t think so.” She jerked loose from his grip, “Thanks so much Daddy!”

**********

[The role of Michelle Bauer Santos will now be played by Bethany Joy Galeotti.]

Michelle held her cell phone on her shoulder and walked down the backstairs of the Bauer house, “Danny….Danny listen to me, I’m on my way. Yes tell Robbie I’ll be right there.” She closed her phone and dropped her purse on the table with a thug.

“Hey there.” Rick came through the backdoor, “You look like you’re in a hurry.”

“Robbie has a doctor’s appointment in about five minutes and I still have to go pick him up from Danny’s.” Michelle explained.

“Why doesn’t Danny just take him?” Rick asked.

“You know that would be the logical thing to do, but I’m soon learning post-divorce that Danny isn’t logical.”

“Been telling you that for years Michelle.” Rick replied taking a bite out of an apple. “You better hurry up.”

She grabbed her purse from the table, her keys from the by the door, raced across the kitchen and kissed Rick on the cheek, “Mel told me to remind you that Valentine’s Day was quickly approaching. I don’t think she wants you to forget again.”

“It was one time.” He defended. “Be careful.”

“Bye!”

Rick grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator and went over to the kitchen table with it and the apple. After he took a drink he went to screw the lid back on but it feel to the floor. He bent over to pick up but what he found was something totally unexpected.

“Prenatal vitamins?” He asked himself knowing they could only belong to Mel or Michelle. “M. Bauer.” Rick read as he slowly shook his head, “Mel…”

**********

A light snow dusted the streets of Washington D.C. as a roaring fire was going in a town house just east of the capitol building. A middle age woman sat at her desk in a study down the hall and heard the phone ringing, “Judith would you answer that please.”

“Hello.” The housekeeper answered, “May I ask who’s calling?” She laid the phone on the table and went into the study.

“Ma’am you have a telephone call, a Mrs. Lucy Spaulding.”

“Thank you.” The woman replied and picked up the phone close to her desk, “Lucy, its Hope. How are you?”

**********

“I’m afraid you’ll need to repeat that once more.” Alan-Michael slid the document down the long table, “When did you receive this?”

“This afternoon.” A-M answered, “A messenger delivered it to my suite. Aunt Alexandra has given me full power and privileges as Chief Operating Officer of Spaulding Enterprises, effective immediately.” He grinned.

**********

“Lucy you don’t know how good it is to hear your voice.” Hope began, “Everything is all right isn’t it?”

“For the most part, I suppose.” Lucy sighed, “How’s Mike doing?”

“Wonderful, I’ll make sure to tell him that you asked.” Hope took a seat by the roaring fire and watched the white flakes fall from the sky. “Lucy you don’t sound like everything is all right. You sound like you’ve been crying. Are you sure everything is okay?”

“Depends on how you would define ‘okay’” Lucy answered, “The last time you visited Alan-Michael and I you told me to call if I ever needed anything.”

“Of course, Lucy you’re really starting to worry me. Is my son all right?”

**********

Michelle glanced at the clock on the wall across the room and looked down at Robbie, “You’re getting tired huh?”

“Mommy you promised to take me to the store.” Robbie cried, “I need Valentine’s Day cards from my class.”

She kissed him on the top of his head, “We’re about ready to go. Mommy is just…” she looked over the dining room table and on the floor, “for something she lost.” Michelle looked under the cushions, “I dropped my purse right here.”

“Mommy!!” Robbie cried, “Let’s go.”

“Okay. Okay, come grab your coat.” She looked around the table once more and decided she would look more tomorrow, “You ready?” Michelle and Robbie headed towards the door and Mel pulled it open.

“Hey Robbie.”

“Hi Aunt Mel, we’re going to the store.”

“Valentine’s Day cards.” Michelle rolled her eyes.

“That sounds like fun.” Mel smiled, “Have you seen Rick?”

“Yeah, actually he is in the living room waiting on you.” Michelle explained, “Bye.”

**********

And Now "The Guiding Light"

Opening

**********

Olivia threw open the door with one hand and held her stomach with another, “Thank you for bringing my bags over Nigel.” She pointed to the dresser, “And I’m assuming that you’ll keep my whereabouts to yourself unless asked?”

“Of course Mrs. Spaulding. Will there be anything else?”

“No.” She tipped him and locked the door behind him.

She rubbed her stomach, “Just you and me kiddo. Your momma here likes to think she’s in control, all the time, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret,” she lowered her voice, “I feel a little lost, confused. There are just so many men in our life…”

Olivia stopped and opened the door to find Cassie standing there, “One of the bellmen at the front desk said you were here. Trouble in Spaulding paradise?”

**********

Alan looked over the document. It was dated the date Alex resigned as CEO and he would send it upstairs to the lawyers to make sure it was an authentic document.

“Did the messenger say anything?” Alan questioned completely oblivious to the fact that his problems were over for now. “Alan-Michael did the messenger say anything? Where he received this document? Perhaps where Alexandra is?”

“Are you worried because you genuinely care Dad or are you just upset and angry because she made me COO of Spaulding?”

“I care about my sister Alan-Michael and I want to know that she’s safe.”

“You’re so typical. I’ve been away from Springfield for almost ten years and in that time I thought you would have changed, but Alexandra was right to come back and take the company away from you. When are you going to change Dad?”

“You’re right.” Alan admitted, “I’ll worry about Alex later the good news here is that we have an operating COO, business can continue.” He paused, “Have you told your wife this joyous news yet? Because you won’t be able to live in Europe and serve as COO.”

“For your information I haven’t told Lucy, we had a fight right before the messenger arrived. But I’ve already taken care of that.”

“Oh?”

“I sold our flat over there, Alexandra and I have been in talks for over six months to move me back here permanently, to Springfield and the company.”

**********

“He and I returned to Springfield a about a week ago, at Alexandra’s request. Now she’s gone, Alan is in control of Spaulding Enterprises and Alan-Michael went behind my back and sold our home in Europe.”

Hope adjusted in her chair, “That doesn’t sound like something Alan-Michael would do. Is something more going on between him and Phillip…” she paused, “oh God…do I even say it, between him and…Alan?”

“I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t think there was another way or if it weren’t important.” Lucy paused, “Hope would you come to Springfield and try to talk some sense into your son…” Lucy choked up, “before he throws away the best thing that ever happened to him.”

She thought for a moment, “Oh Lucy…that’s an awful lot to ask of me. I haven’t been there in years.”

“Hope…” Lucy tried to reason, “Please.”

“All right then.” She agreed, “I’ll take the next flight out. Just make sure that no one knows I’m coming.”

**********

Mel draped her coat over the back of the chair and walked towards the living room, “Honey, Michelle said you were wanting to see me?” He didn’t reply, “You know I thought we could go to Towers for dinner.”

“Did my dad come home with you?”

Mel flipped through the mail and dropped it on the table, “No he and Holly were going to an AA meeting tonight.” She glanced up, “Something the matter Rick?”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out the pregnancy vitamins and sat them on the table, “You what to tell me what these are?”

Her eyes were locked on the vitamins and in the moment she knew they didn’t belong to her because she hadn’t gotten far enough in her pregnancy. “Rick…” she said softly, “those aren’t mine.”

“Then explain why your name is on the label Melissande.” Rick yelled, “Do not lie to me Mel, not in our house.”

“The pills aren’t mine Rick, but you’re right about one thing…I have been lying to you for months.”

**********

“Lucy gave us all the impression that she was against that. Alan-Michael if you think that fulfilling Alexandra wishes will be to much of a strain on your marriage then I suggest you reassign the proxy to someone else.”

“You would like that wouldn’t you? Maybe give them to Phillip because he’s always been your favorite hasn’t he Dad? If you had ever paid any attention you would’ve known how much I hated Europe, Alexandra knew.”

“Point taken I suppose, but you know that Alexandra will eventually return, your little power play here will only be temporary.”

“But I will stay true to her vision and to how she would want things run. And I know that she would want to question your every single move. She would also make you answer to her on every single move you made so until she does return, be prepared to answer me Dad.”

Alan-Michael grabs the proxy from the table and heads out of the boardroom, leaving Alan alone to again question where Alexandra is at and what she is really up to.

**********

“You could say that. Alan’s acting like a stubborn jackass.”

“Um, Olivia, that’s not an act. He is a stubborn jackass.”

“Is there a reason you’re here? Besides to belittle my husband, I can get away with it. You not so much. I maybe pregnant but find me a mud pit and I’ll take you down.”

“You tell yourself that.” Cassie laughed, “Listen there was a reason I came by to see you. Our executive administrator walked out last night after her shift, apparently you pissed her off yesterday with one of your little tirades.”

“She was incompetent anyway, no big loss.”

“It is a big loss, it’s huge Olivia!” Cassie corrected her, “You’re going to be on maternity leave in a few months, spring break is right around the corner, proms and parities. Not to mention that the summer months are right around the corner.”

“What would you have me do Cassie?” She questioned. “I’ll take care of it in the morning, a simple ad in the Journal will solve our little problem.”

“You better solve it and fast.” She headed towards the door, “So the Spaulding house full of drama?”

“Drama should be our surname, I should be Olivia Spencer Spaulding-Drama.” She teased, “But to answer your question yes there is drama…” a smile wiped across her face.

“Olivia! You like it don’t you? You devious, devious woman.”

**********

Rick turned away from her, “What?”

“You remember when I was in the hospital a few months ago? When Roxie hit me in the parking garage at Cedars?”

“Of course, I won’t ever forget that.”

“A few days before the attack I fainted at Cedars. Lillian was there she examined me and she told me…” Mel’s words trailed off, “Lillian told me I was pregnant…” tears swelled in her eyes and fell down her cheek, “and I made her promise she wouldn’t tell you until I figured out how.”

“You did what?” Rick asked in almost a whisper. “Answer me Mel!” He roared, “I know you heard me!”

Hot tears rolled down Mel’s cheek, “Rick…” Was all she was able to say.

“Was it my baby Mel? Is that why you kept it from me?”

Mel’s black hair spun in the air as she sent her hand across Rick’s face, “How dare you.” She slowly uttered, “I didn’t tell you that I was pregnant because you had just returned to work. Because we had just gotten married and did you forget Rick that you almost died months early?”

Rick stood holding his cheek as Mel continued, “Not everyone is a cheating slut like Harley, my dear.” She told him, “I need time to deal with the fact I was pregnant and before I had the chance to tell you…I miscarried because some crazy lunatic ran me over.”

“Mel…”

“Don’t you say another word, because you’ve already said enough.”

“You’re not innocent in all of this Mel.” Rick lectured, “You should not have kept this from me, I had a right to know.”

“And I had a right to decide when I thought it was best to tell you.” Mel fired back, “But I was afraid that you would blame me somehow for this, but I’m sure those thoughts never crossed your mind, did they?” She headed towards the kitchen, grabbed her purse and jacket.

“Where are you going?”

“I won’t stay here tonight. I’ll be at my parents.” Mel said as she walked out leaving the door standing wide open allowing the February air to sweep through the house.

Following Hope's birth, Julie resumed her job as secretary to attorney George Hayes, while Mike worked slavishly to complete the law education which George had generously financed. Mike drove himself so hard that he became seriously ill with a viral infection. Instead of being sympathetic, Julie worried that Mike's illness would postpone the degree that would ensure her the privileged life of a lawyer's spouse. Meanwhile, Mike's mother, Bert, helped out by taking care of Hope, but she became so obsessed with the child that when Mike's father, Bill, finally returned from his business trip, she barely paid any attention to him. Hope had become Bert's entire world. Meanwhile, Julie would become disillusioned in her marriage to a man who married her simply because he got her pregnant and left the family, only to discover she was pregnant again! Trapped and becoming inhinged, Julie became so distraught that she had a miscarriage and tried to jump off the ledge outside her hospital room. When Alex revealed to Mike the truth about the baby, Mike blamed himself for Julie's problems. Yet as far as Bill was concerned, the blame belonged with Bert for having goaded Mike into this loveless marriage. As for Mike, he as disgusted by his mother's neglect of his father and her "take-charge" attitude with Hope. The only good news in Mike's life at this time was his graduation from law school. Dr. Paul Fletcher would soon advise the Bauers that Julie should be put into a mental institution, which the Bauers and the Conrads did do. In 1966, the Bauers got word that Julie had died of injures, while in the mental institution, that were possibly self-inflicted. With Bill's encouragement, Mike and Hope escaped Bert's dominance and relocated to Bay Cit, ywhere they lived in a boarding house owned by Ellen Hastings, who acted as a mother figure to Hope.

- In 1968, an 8-year-old Hope arrived in Springfield with Mike and become reacquainted with her family. Lonely, in 1969, Hope instantly bonded with her Aunt Leslie, who became a mother figure. In 1970, Mike would impulsively marry Charlotte Waring who was anything but a mother figure! A selfish woman, Charlotte resented Mike's closeness with Hope and made her disinterest in Hope perfectly clear to the girl, although Mike was unaware of this. Miserable with her "wicked stepmother", Hope, Hope confided in her best friend, Christy Rogers, and finally ran away in 1971 to a deserted cabin. Luckily Mike found her and learning how Charlotte treated her, he bitterly wrote off his new wife. That same day, Charlotte suffered a miscarriage and a grief stricken Hope gave her blessing for the pair to reconcile. However in 1972 the reconciliation didn't last long and, in 1972, when Mike learned how vindictive Charlotte was, he divorced her after Hope told him that she saw Charlotte in a romantic embrace with Dr. Dick Carey. In 1973, a teenaged Hope watched her father marry the love of his life, her beloved Aunt Leslie, and again moved to Bay City to a boarding school.

- In 1975, Mike brought an almost mature Hope home from Bay City University where she'd been dating the married college professor, Alex McDaniels and enrolled her in Springfield University. Resenting her father’s actions, their relationship was strained for a time. Soon after returning to town, Hope found herself attracted to the older Chad Richards, a singer at the nightclub "The Metro." Hope though was nervous to bring Chad home to meet her father or Leslie, thinking they would again disapprove of another man in her life. Then Chad started suffering from severe headaches that he and Hope just thought were migraines, but not wanting to lose this man just in case, she finally decided to bring him to "meet the parents" shortly before the holidays of the year. Though both Leslie and Mike were shocked to see who Hope's new boyfriend was (especially since Leslie herself had dated Chad several years ago), they decided to keep an open mind for Hope's sake and even Mike realized that Chad was worthy of his daughter. His opinion would change however when shortly after New Year 1976, when Chad unexpectedly went after Leslie! Luckily Mike saved her by fighting Chad off and the cause of Chad's violence was diagnosed by Dr. Emmet Scott and Dr. Tim Ryan as a brain tumor. Though it was operable, Cedars at that time didn't have the capabilities and so Chad was forced to leave Hope and Springfield to get treatment in Los Angeles. With Chad gone, Hope had felt very gun shy about entering another relationship, but Mike encouraged her to continue to seek love, again. Soon, Hope would end up falling for her college friend, the worldly artist Ben McFarren. Unfortunately, Ben was someone else that Mike didn't approve of since Ben not only had painted a nude picture of Hope that she posed for but he also had a criminal record. However, unbeknownst to Mike, Ben hadn't committed the robbery he went to prison for years ago; he was covering for his brother, Jerry McFarren. Though Bert tried to counsel Mike, to butt out, Mike wouldn't listen. But a little later, Ben (after Leslie was killed) approached Ann Jeffers about Mike investigating the robbery of the deli (Ben knew what Mike would find, that it wasn't him, but Jerry who had done this deed) and Ben seemed genuine about him being innocent in the crime. Ben also asked Mike to keep his investigation a secret from Hope. (Mike who had taken Leslie's death hard and also helping Ann escape from Spence, thought that it was time to bury any ill feelings he had towards Ben and found out in the course of his investigation of the robbery of the deli, that Ben's fingerprints did not match the fingerprints of the actual robber and worked to get Ben exonerated of the robbery and his record of the deed {actually done by his brother}, expunged, which Mike was successful in doing -- this was important for Ben to get a job at Spaulding years later.) Mike's opinion of Ben changed, for the better, when Ben told Mike, in private that he had covered for his younger brother, Jerry. Ben asked Mike not to try and go after his brother, Jerry, since Ben still served time for the deli robbery and Mike agreed. But then Jerry caught got up with owning the men who had floated him the loan for his gambling debts and also for keeping Roger Thorpe's "The Metro" afloat. And when Roger ended up being beaten up, Peggy asked Mike to investigate and Mike found out that Jerry had been responsible for all of this. And then Ben paid off Jerry's debt. Mike figured out what Ben had done yet again, about bailing out Jerry, and when Hope found out that a lot of the money that Ben and Hope had set aside to start a new life in the future was missing, she went to Mike and was very angry about this. Mike urged his daughter to calm down and not break things off with Ben, but Hope refused to listen to her father, and went ahead and confronted Ben. When Ben wasn't forthcoming about the missing money, that's when Hope broke things off with him. A little later, in the spring of 1977, when Hope found out through Ann Jeffers that it had been Jerry who Ben was covering for; Hope tried to get back with him. However, it was too late--Ben had already moved on. Ready to go away to New York to design school, Hope said a final goodbye to Ben.

- In 1979, a mature Hope returned to town and embarked on a career in interior design. After a brief relationship with Gordon Middleton, Hope finally came face to face with the infamous Alan Spaulding. By the time Hope met Alan, she had been informed by Mike exactly what kind of man Alan was. Hired to decorate Alan's villa on the island St. Lucia, the two instantly disliked one another. Working with Gordon in the renovation process, the pair became were puzzled to find an IV unit in the villa and even more baffled when Alan was secretive about it. Knowing that Alan was under suspicion for helping the villainous Roger Thorpe, the pair considered pursuing the mystery. Before they could pursue it though, Gordon learned that his brother had been seriously injured in a car accident, and he decided to go back to his family home far from Springfield. Later, while traveling back to Springfield with Alan, the plane crashed in the Caribbean and the pair became marooned while Alan's pilot died! They drifted atop the wreckage to a lonely island and throughout the next several weeks, Hope began to see Alan's sensitive side and the pair made love. After being rescued by Mike and Alan's wife Jackie, they continued their affair despite the fact that Jackie announced she was pregnant with Alan's child. After Jackie finally left Alan after she suffered a miscarriage, Hope and Alan were free and despite her father's strenuous objections, the two married in February 1980. Then Hope began to realize that perhaps Mike was right about Alan all along when she found out Phillip was really Justin and Jackie Marler's child. Alan hadn't yet found out who were Philip's birth parents but Mike told Hope. Hope forced Alan to sign over his parental rights to Justin and Jackie and went as far as to leave their bedroom till Alan agreed to give custody of Philip to the Marlers. She told Alan that if he didn't sign the papers she'd leave him and he'd never see their unborn child. Hope never told Alan her reasons why she wanted him to give up Philip, but it could have been her disenchantment with his lengths to secure custody in the first place. With a great deal of anger, Alan signed those "damn paper’s." Seeing how angry Alan was, Hope became scared to return to their bedroom. Then in the summer of 1981, Hope overheard a conversation between Alan and Henry Chamberlain and learned that Alan had been having an affair with Ed's wife Rita! Not wanting to admit that her father was right about Alan, Hope kept mum and was later involved in a car accident when she accidentally drove her car into a tree. While Hope was in Cedars, she blurted out that she knew about him and Rita! Alan then begged forgiveness and swore to her that he would change. Alan told Hope that he never loved another woman like he loved her. Touched by his sensitivity and realizing that he was the first man she'd ever really loved, she agreed to give him another chance. Weeks later, Hope gave birth to a son, Alan-Michael.

- Days later, when Diane Ballard and Joe Bradley were murdered, Alan was falsely accused of the crime, so Hope escaped with Alan and Alan-Michael to Tenerife until Mike and Lt. Wyatt caught them. Although Alan was vindicated of both murders, he had to confess his old cooperation with the now presumed dead Roger and went to prison in 1982. While Alan was in prison, Hope and Alan-Michael moved in with Hope's grandmother, Bert, while the mansion was rented out to Floyd Parker and his girlfriend, Lesley Ann Monroe. Later that year, when Alan was released, the Spauldings moved back in to the mansion. Unfortunately, Alan soon reverted back to his old self and despite all his words, he couldn't control himself and he fired his daughter, Amanda, from Spaulding! Unnerved at Alan's actions, Hope threw him out of their bedroom. Then in November, Hope was thrown for a loop when Alan hired Trish Lewis to redecorate the mansion. Though confused as to why he'd hire Trish to do something she did professionally, Hope suspected nothing. That summer, just when she was ready to let Alan back into the bedroom, Hope overheard a conversation between Vanessa Chamberlain and Clay Tynan and learned something startling--Alan and Trish had been having an affair for months! After leaving Alan, she started dating Warren Andrews, against Bert and her Uncle Ed's advice. Unfortunately the disaster of her marriage to Alan caused Hope to turn to the bottle for solace and became an alcoholic, one reason why Warren ended up dumping her (the other reason being that he was attracted to the younger Lesley Ann Monroe). Though Mike was in denial over Hope's alcoholism, Ed realized what was going on. After several drunken binges, one in which she told Ross Marler about Trish and Alan's affair, Hope finally got help with the support of her Uncle Ed, a former alcoholic, and got help from AA. After her recovery, Hope realized that she could never be in the same town with Alan and moved to New York with little Alan-Michael.

- Unfortunately, Hope would apparently struggle with her battle with the bottle since an adult Alan-Michael would mention having seen his mother drunk in New York. In 1989, Hope disappointed Alan-Michael when she told him she couldn't attend his wedding to Harley Cooper since Alan would be there. In, 1993, Ed mentioned that Hope was now living in Washington Dc near her father, Mike. However, the following year, when Alan-Michael mentioned to his new love, Lucy, that he no longer had much contact to Hope since she had been spending most of her time in Europe. Later, after failing to contact Hope, Alan-Michael went to Ed and forced him to confess that Hope was in a clinic in Switzerland since she had fallen off the wagon again. She was ashamed and didn't want Alan-Michael to know about her problems because she didn't want him to see how weak she was. However, Ed stated that she would recover and after Alan-Michael (following Ed's advice) called her in the clinic, Hope was angry that Ed had told him everything. Later, in 1997, Mike mentioned that Hope was living in England.

- Since her return on the SONBC blog, "THE GUIDING LIGHT" it has been revealed that Hope left England in 2000. She moved to Washington D.C. and lived with her father in a townhome near the Capitol Building. Hope has maintained a close relationship with Alan-Michael and his wife Lucy while they were living in Europe. After Alan-Michael sold his flat in Europe without consulting his wife, Lucy took matters into her own hands. Hope agreed to return to Springfield for a visit only in hopes of talking some sense into her son and warning him against Alan's devious ways. Hope returned to Springfield on Valentine's Day 2007.

Holly wakes up and realizes that she fell asleep again. As she regains consciousness, she feels the pain well up in her head. Another migraine. Through squinted eyes, Holly shuffles around the room and picks up a bottle of medicine. She downs it and walks back to the sofa. Holly looks up at the clock. “11. I’m supposed to meet Ed for lunch. I should get up and go. I’ve bailed on him too many times lately.” Holly succumbs to the pain and lies back down. However, the door bell wakes her up. She gets up to answer and finds Ed.

“Holly, you’re not going to ditch me again, are you?” Ed looks over and sees the disheveled covers on the bed. She’s probably not even out of bed, he thinks.

“Holly, are you okay? Holly doesn’t respond. Ed grows more and more concerned.

“Holly?”

Holly’s eyes roll back into her head as her legs give out. She faints and Ed catches her in his arms.

“Hello darlin’ what are you doing here?” Josh asks.

“I just wanted to stop by and see what you boys were doing,” she replies.

Josh notices the bag. “Where are you going?”

“Joshua, I’ve decided to leave Springfield for awhile. I need to catch my breath. It’s not like anyone is going to miss me anyway.”

The Spaulding jet lands on the landing strip at Bar Harbor. Alan-Michael Spaulding runs out and glances around to see if he can see Lucy among the crowd. He sees a bunch of paramedics pushing a comatose Harley on a gurney. A-M looks at her and wonders what could have happened to cause this. He asks one of the paramedics as to the whereabouts of his wife.

A-M took the car and drove within 10 minutes to the crash site and sees Lucy staring out over the rocky shore.

Lucy realizes that he is there and runs into his arms. The misdeeds of the past appear forgiven for the moment at least as she gives him a big kiss.

“Have they found Aunt Alex yet?”

“No. The paramedics say that there is no way that she could have survived the impact."

Alan-Michael wipes a tear from his eye and the two look out over the horizon.

Meanwhile, in a shack about a mile down the road in the Maine woods, a fisherman returns home with a bucket of water. He sees the woman on the bed. Pretty beaten up, he mutters. The man remembers when he found her near the shore. He walks up and dabs a wet rag on her forehead. After tending to her wounds, he crosses the room and works on cleaning the fish he caught earlier this morning. Suddenly, she begins to stir. The man runs over and asks her if she will be okay.

“Where am I?” she asks.

“Are you kidding? Here is someone who is going to miss you if you left. Why don’t I let Billy take over the project and you and I will take a long, relaxing vacation,” Josh offers.

“No, you guys have too much work with the Cedars project. Besides, I’ll have enough company to occupy my time. I’ve decided to go to Tulsa to see Hawk and Rusty. Rusty bought a new farm that he’s been dying for me to see. Then, I want to go to San Jemar to see Jonathan. Now that the stalker mess is over, I want to make sure that he’s okay.”

“Reva, did you have another blowout with Marah?”

“Marah? No. I’ve been calling her, but she’s still treating me like some primordial ooze. Mel Bauer came to the house earlier today and berated me for Roxie’s actions. Evidently, she was pregnant and lost the baby because of Roxie. I’ve let down my sister, my daughter, and now my friends are being hurt because of my problems. I’m beginning to rack up a long list of enemies in this town aren’t I?” She sobs. “I just, I don’t understand why everyone is putting the brunt of the blame on me? I didn’t put the gun in Roxie’s hand, I didn’t ask her to stalk me. I didn’t—“

Josh reaches over and pulls her into an embrace. Reva places her head on his shoulder and cries.

“It’s all gonna be okay. It’s all gonna be okay…” he repeats softly to her.

**********

“Holly? Holly?” Ed repeats. He picks her up and places her on the sofa. Suddenly, she comes to, her eyes dart around the room to see where she is.

“What happened?” she asks.

“You fainted again Holly.”

“Oh God,” she sighs. She begins to feel her head pounding again, as if she has been in a deep sleep.

“I’m guessing this means that your headaches aren’t getting any better right?”

“Nope. Some days it takes so much effort just to get out of bed in the morning. I haven’t gone to work. I have a stupid message on my answering machine from every person in this town wondering where I am. No matter what I do, these migraines just aren’t going away. I’m not sure what to do…”

“Why don’t you come with me to Cedars and we can get you checked out?”

“Ed, I can deal with this, I can—“

“Holly, please. Can you do it for me? I’m getting much too old to be carrying damsels over the threshold.”

“I hate it when you start to make sense,” Holly cracks a small smile.

“Well, you better make a note of it; it happens so rarely. Come on. You go up stairs and I’ll wait for you.”

Holly nods her head and then walks slowly up the stairs to get ready.

**********

Lizzie looks over to the nurse and says “Sorry, he’s taken. So if you don’t want me to get angry, I’d suggest you’d get out of here.” The nurse leaves, taking the not-so-subtle hint.

Braxton smiles and asks, “What are you doing here?”

“Well my mom always said that young guys like you need to be kept on a very short leash,” she coos and gives him another kiss.

Braxton looks at his watch. “Lizzie, it’s almost my break, so we can go to the cafeteria and talk, unless you want something a little more upscale than chicken fingers and fries.”

“That’s fine by me,” she says.

The two walk over to the elevator hand in hand and leave the floor.

“I feel like it is all my fault, Alan-Michael. If I would have just gotten here a little faster, Harley would not be in a coma and Alexandra would not be de—“

“Don’t say that,” he interrupts. “There is nothing that you could have done. All we can do now is pray that Harley gets the best care that she can get and that she comes out of the coma alright. And we don’t even know for sure that Aunt Alex is dead. We didn’t find a body.”

“But the paramed—“

“What do they know? Miracles happen, Lucy. We just have to pray that this is one of those times. Besides, she's Alexandra Spaulding for God's sake."

“Oh daddy! He must be worried sick about Harley. Can you take me to see him, please?”

“Sure thing,” he says. However, A-M’s phone rings and A-M guides Lucy to the car. He answers the phone. The PI speaks on the other end of the line. “Boss, I’m about to follow your instructions beginning in a few minutes. The subject should be coming around soon,” he says.

“Good, keep me informed will you?” A-M flips his phone and walks proudly over to the car.

Reva lets go of Josh’s arms and wipes the tears from her eyes. “I’m okay. I just needed to get it all out,” she says to him.

“Honey, I know that everything is going to turn out okay. It will take awhile, but Mel and Marah will realize that it was not your fault.”

“I hope so. I don’t think I can take much more of this. My pariah days are long gone.”

“Are you sure that you don’t want me to go with you?” Josh asks.

“I’m sure. You can help me by staying home and working on this project.”

“Okay. Make sure you call me when you get to Hawk’s and call as much as you can.”

Reva and Josh walk out into the waiting room.

“Wanda, make sure these boys aren’t working too late.”

“Will do,” Wanda smiles.

Reva gives Josh a big hug and walks out of the office.

At Cedars, Holly and Ed wait in one of the rooms for a doctor to come see them. The doctor walks in and looks at Holly’s chart.

“Miss Lindsay, after a full checkup, we were unable to find anything medically wrong with you. The test all came back negative. The symptoms that you are experiencing could be psychosomatic. Nevertheless, we will give you a prescription for a mild pain reliever for the headaches.”

“Are you saying that all of the migraines are all in my imagination?”

“Perhaps, but further tests would have to done to rule out everything.”

“Thanks doctor,” Holly says as he walks out of the room.

“What is wrong with me? First I’m accused of being Reva’s unbalanced stalker, now I’m dreaming up headaches. I must be nuts.”

“Hey, you heard the doctor. Just because we don’t have a test for it, doesn’t mean that there is nothing wrong with you. Doctors are fallible too. We can get a second opinion.”

“And what can they tell me that I don’t already know Ed? That I am certifiably insane? I knew this was coming. I just knew it.”

Holly puts her hand on her head.

“Ed, I hate to be a party pooper, but could you just take me home. I think I’m going to take some of this medicine and pray that it works.”

Ed agrees, gives Holly her coat. They walk out of the room more deflated than they had been when they came.

Braxton and Lizzie sit in a booth in the hospital cafeteria. The place is filled with hungry doctors hurriedly eating their lunches. Lizzie looks up at him in between bites and smiles at him.

“So. Back there you said that I was taken. What did you mean by that?” he smiles back.

“It’s just the Spaulding way. If we see something that interests us, we snatch it up. But seriously, I must say that you made a good first impression. I was hoping to have another encounter, maybe more, if you would want.”

“Why don’t I take you out for a night on the town tonight? I get off in a few hours and I know that the cafeteria isn’t exactly the best place for a first date.”

“I’d like that. But I always like to know the men that I go out with and I realized that I don’t know much about you Braxton. Who exactly is Braxton O’Dell? Where did you come from? Did you have any other relationships?”

“Wow, straight to final Jeopardy,” Braxton answers. “Well, I was born with ten fingers and ten toes and I can make the best Tony Danza impression that you’ve ever seen.”

“Seriously,” Lizzie laughs.

“Okay, I had a pretty normal childhood. A dad. A mom, they were married a few years before I came along and he died in 2001. Mom moved to Vegas, I went to med school and here we are."

"Your mother still live in Vegas?"

"No, mom moved to Springfield a couple of weeks ago and is trying to find a steady job."

“Oh really? Why are you over here then when you can be with her? Why don’t you move closer to Springfield?” Lizzie flirts.

Braxton tries to evade the other question and smiles at the hint. He’s amused to say the least.

**********

The mysterious woman begins to wake up. She attempts to get a bearing as to where she could possibly be. Her memories begin to piece together. She can recall the sea air and the sound of the waves crashing.

The woman begins to look around the room. What a dirty place, she realizes. This man looks as if he was washed up by the tide. The man tried to place a rag over her head. The woman evades his hand, disgusted.

“Oh God, I’ve died and gone to Hell haven’t I?”

“If you don’t mind me asking ma’am, who are you?” the man asks.

“My name is Alexandra Spaulding and where the hell am I?”

VETERAN ACTRESS RETURNS FOR LIMITED RUN
PLUS: One Actress Leaves Soap

Tulsa, OK – (July 7, 2007) - "It came down to the wire," says "The Guiding Light" executive producer Josh Hawkins when speaking about the return of Melina Kanakaredes who portrayed Eleni Andros Cooper from 1991-1995 on the CBS version of the soap.

"We considered both Jennifer Roswell (who portrayed the character after Kanakaredes left) and Kanakaredes but felt for the limited run it would be more rewarding to see Melina back." Hawkins continued. So what brings Eleni back to Springfield? "Marina of course!" Co-Head Writer Dan Gobble confirms. Graduation and prom (TGL is still on May time) is right around the corner and since we are in a position to bring back the characters who should be here it was just a matter of timing before Eleni came home, Gobble went on to explain.

So how long is Kanakaredes who currently stars on the CBS crime-drama hit "CSI: New York" sticking around the blog? "We were able to keep Melina for at least three episodes, possibly four." Hawkins stated. There will be pre-prom, graduation and then she'll be sharing some very heartwarming scenes with Justin Deas (Buzz) and Frank Dicopoulos (Frank). Could those heartwarming scenes with Frank be a sign of things to come? "Josh and I would love nothing more to bring Eleni back full-time but this is just a visit, there is no room at the inn!" Laughs Gobble.

And no room at the inn is the problem, as Pamela Reed (Sandra) exits the canvas very quietly. "I take full responsiblity for this story and it not being told to full capacity." Said Hawkins. Reed who starred as Gail Green on "Jericho" last season was brought on as the mysterious Sandra in November 2006. "I had a story in place when I brought the character to the canvas, but when Dan joined the writing team things changed!"

Hawkins goes on to say that Reed was supposed to be a Maureen Bauer look-a-like that would cause a rift between Ed and Holly but as history would have it, it was Holly's ex Roger that caused that rift. "The thing is that the actress is gone, the character won't be seen but she'll be mentioned as storyline requires, she is after all Braxton's mother."

Braxton who is represented by Jason Shane Scott is beginning worked into the teen canvas as the love interest for Spaulding princess and SONBC Award Winning Younger Female Character Lizzie Spaulding (Marcy Rylan.)

There however, won't be any dramatic exit for Reed or Sandra O'Dell but her story is not over quite yet. "Reed has agreed to return as Sandra in November or December for a dramatic storyline twist that will rock Springfield." Teased Hawkins.

Look for Melina Kanakaredes to appear in Episode 76, 78, 79 and possibly the 80th episode of the blog.

Lillian Raines held in her hand a brush that she had just used hours earlier to comb Lizzie’s hair. “I can’t believe that your daughter is at her senior prom right now,” Lillian smiled. “Are you about ready to get in bed?” She turned the covers down and fluffed a pillow. “Ed gave you some sleeping pills you should take one. I know I said you should rest but sleep will be better.”

Beth stood in the walk-in closet and rub her stomach it ached somewhat but nothing drastic. “Are you sure that you won’t reconsider?”

“What staying the night?” Lillian questioned as she sat the bottle of pills next to an unopened letter on Beth’s dresser. “No, but thank you for the offer,” she picked up the envelope and looked it over. “Honey what is this letter?”

Appearing from the closet and ignoring the question, “Phillip said that he wanted to talk to me about something tonight and I just think that he may have found us a new house is all.” She waved her hand at Lillian, “This might be your last opportunity to stay in the Spaulding mansion for awhile.”

“I’ll take my chances,” Lilian mumbled as she studied the envelope. “This is from Cedars honey. It was just sitting here on your dresser.”

“Is there a name on it?” Beth finally asked.

“Just Spaulding is all.” She replied, “Should I open it? Do you care Beth?”

“No, not at all,” Beth replied as Lilian slid her finger under the flap and unfolded the letter inside. She quickly read it and recognized what it was and her breath muttered, “Oh Beth.”

“What was it? More notes from Ed? Let me guess, plenty of rest, fluids and no driving for what a week, two weeks?” Beth laughed, “Momma?”

“This wasn’t for you. Silly us, you’re not the only Spaulding in this house, it was for, um…Olivia.”

“Olivia, really? You’re lying Momma and I know when you’re lying, just like you know when I am, give me the paper.”

“I’m not lying Beth it wasn’t for you,” Lillian said sternly.

Beth snatched the paper from Lillian’s tight grip and read the information for herself. Her lips trembled as she read the words. “Is this legitimate?” She finally questioned. “Momma you would know is this a fake or is it real?”

“It looks authentic yes, but that doesn’t mean it is Beth. There could be a mistake or something, errors do happen.”

“And I understand that, but Phillip requested this paternity test not Olivia, not Alan, Phillip. My husband has reason to believe that he’s the father of her baby and…” the realization hit her suddenly, “go home Momma.”

“Beth…”

“Don’t patronize me, don’t you dare.” With tears in her eyes, she looked at Lillian, “Go home and leave that to my husband.”

“Leave what to me?” Phillip questioned from the doorway. “What’s going on?”

“Funny I was just about to ask you the same damn thing?” Beth announced!

“Okay.” Phillip responded, “Lillian how are you tonight?”

From the day we met
You made me forget
All my fears
You knew just what to say
And you kissed away
All my tears
I knew this time I had finally found
Someone to build my life around
Be a lover and a friend
After all my heart had put me through
I knew that it was safe with you
What we had would never end...
Wrong Again.

Lillian’s eyes crossed to Beth who was still standing in shock, “Up until about two minutes ago I was one of the happiest women in the world, certainly the happiest woman in Springfield. Beth I’m going downstairs…”

With her back to them both, she spoke calmly, in a reserved and respected manner. “Do you know how many times I have thought to myself, ‘Beth you are so lucky, Phillip is such a good man. Trustworthy and depenable…faithful and honest’ I remind myself every morning, every night how blessed I am to have found you again, how lucky I am to be loved by such a man,” she spun around with the recognizable letter in hand. "But right now, right here it seems like I was wrong."

“Lillian will you excuse us please.” Phillip opened the door, “Beth and I have some things to discuss.”

Lillian looked at Beth who nodded, “I’ll be fine.”

As Phillip turned back to face Beth he met the palm of her hand against the side of his face, “You son-of-a-bitch!” She screamed out in anger. “How long, how long have you known that she was having your baby?”

“Beth…” Phillip spoke in a condescending voice.

“Stop right there, not another word,” she laughed, “I told Momma that you would do that. Speak to me like you talk to Lizzie or the staff around this…place.” The words left a bitter taste in her mouth and she choked back her tears. “It’s amazing…”

“What?” Phillip questioned.

“Take your pick. It’s amazing how you’ve learned to lie with such ease and show no remorse for it. It’s amazing, how much you are like Alan in so many ways yet you think you're so much better than he is. It is amazing that we, that you and I are here again, we’ve only just begun and we’re already finished.”

“I didn’t know that Hannah was mine until the night she was born,” Phillip explained.

“And do you think that makes this better? I don’t give a damn about when you found out, I could care less. What I do care about is what you told me when we got married in Las Vegas,” she shot him a cold look. “You lied to me and then not a hour later you took vows, you made me promises that you could never keep. I asked you Phillip to tell me everything, we were supposed to begin this marriage without any baggage, no secrets. I opened my heart up to you again and this, this is how you repay me? This is how you show your love?” She screamed at the top of her lungs. “So you see I don’t care when you found out about Hannah, because you knew all along. You knew that you and Olivia had slept together, you’re not an idiot so let’s not pretend that you are.” Beth paused and looked up at him. “You love her don’t you?” She asked the question he had been avoiding for months, “We both know the answer to that question so don’t even bother dignifying it with an answer.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Phillip told her. “I wish I could say something that would make sense but I can’t.”

“Why did you marry me again?” Beth questioned directly. “You could have…” she stumbled over her own words and finally managed, “why?”

“Honestly?” Phillip knew he was about to break her heart, “I thought I had lost Olivia for good. I thought that she and Alan were going to make a life together with the baby and that she would forget about what we shared. When you said marry me I thought to myself if I can’t Olivia then…”

“Then what? You would settle for poor, fragile Beth!” She reached up and slapped him across the face for a second time, “I am a lot of things Phillip Granville, but second best to Olivia Spencer-Spaulding is not one of them, not now and not ever again!”

“That is not what I meant,” he attempted to backtrack. “I love you.”

“You love rescuing me? You love the fact that I have spent my entire adult life loving you in some form or another. No matter where I was or who I was with, Edmund or Jim or Bill you knew just like I knew that there was only one man for me, there was only one Phillip.” She shook her head and sighed, “I’ve made so many mistakes, but I think this has to be the biggest one of my life. And the ironic thing about it is that I never saw it coming, I never imagined this of all things would happen. You know how much I hate that woman, how much Alexandra despises her and your father…” she stopped.

“What about my father?” Phillip asked. “Beth…”

“Has no idea, does he? Alan is down there in that study at this very moment playing house with a child he thinks is his own. When were you going to tell him?”

“Olivia is going to tell him in her own time. Beth please don’t do this, I’m asking you…”

“And for some reason you think you are in a position to ask for favors? You’re keeping this from Alan because you love Olivia. He has a right to know the truth. I won’t play this game, I’m going to tell your father the truth.” Beth declared as she stormed down the hallway of the Spaulding mansion!

Everybody swore
They'd seen this before
We'd be fine
And you'd come to see
That you still love me
In good time
And they said there's nothing you can do
It's something that he's going through
It happens to a lot of men
And I told myself that they were right
That you'd wake up and see the light
And I just had to wait till then
Wrong again...

Alan sat on the sofa in the study of the mansion, “I still wish you would have considered Penelope.”

“And I told you long ago there was no way I was naming my child Penelope.” Olivia replied as she folded Hannah’s blanket, “Is she sleeping?”

Alan smiled warmly and kissed her forehead, “Like an angel.” Olivia walked across the room and took the baby in her arms and Alan quickly stole a kiss from her, “I’m glad that you’re home, the both of you.”

“Well, the both of us are glad to be home.” Olivia replied, “Alan there was something that I was going to talk to you about, right after I put Hannah to bed…”

“No time like the present!” Beth burst through the doors with the DNA tests in hand. “Good the both of you are here!”

“Beth what is all this about?” Alan got up from the sofa to check on the baby in Olivia’s arms, “Hannah just went to sleep you don’t want to wake her up do you?”

“Of course not.” Beth looked over her shoulder at Lillian who had followed her down the stairs, “Momma would you take Hannah and put her in her crib upstairs.”

“Thank you, but that won’t be necessary Lillian.” Olivia stopped her, “Beth I don’t know what you’re rambling on about so loudly but I’ll put me baby to bed. Excuse me.”

Beth stepped in front of Olivia stopping her in her tracks. “Give her to my mother right now.” She said in a hushed whisper, “I know everything your two-timing, gold digging bitch.” Olivia glanced to Phillip and then handed the baby to Lillian.

“Is anyone going to tell me what the hell is going on here?” Alan roared, “Beth is there a problem between you and Olivia?”

“Something like that,” Beth flashes Olivia the envelope. “Something has happened Alan, something that I think you have a right to know about.”

“What are you doing?” Olivia questioned. “Why are you doing this, you have no idea what you are about to do Beth…”

“Olivia, I swear to God in heaven if you don’t shut up I will backhand clear across this room. And if you don’t believe me ask Phillip.” Beth warned!

“Phillip?” Alan raised his eyebrows. “Does this have to do with the book that Olivia had published because I thought we resolved that issue awhile ago.”

“It doesn’t have anything to do with the book, but it’s nothing I can’t control.” Phillip attempted to get a grip on the situation.

“I’m not backing down from this.” Beth announced, “Do you think I won’t tell him what I know? Why I ever thought that marrying you again was in my best interests I will never know, yet another life alternating mistake. “

“You’ve made plenty.” Olivia smirked. “Send me across the room and see what happens.” She warned.

Beth shook her head, “I’m so done.”

“What is it you’re done with Beth?” Alan questioned.

“This…” she gestured around the room, “I’m through playing games with this damn family.”

Alan flashed her a scornful glare, “Tread lightly Beth. This damn family has provided for you very well if I recall and still is.”

She laughed aloud and thought for a moment, “You…you’re going to lecture me? Don’t even try Alan because Phillip has already tried and failed miserably. I think it’s time that you saw what I did tonight.” She handed him the envelope and announced, “That little girl you were kissing tonight, she’s not your daughter Alan, she doesn’t even have a drop of Spaulding blood in her. Congratulations, you have another granddaughter!”

Alan read the paper closely, “It’s a fake, someone is trying to extort money or something from us. I cannot believe you take that for the truth Beth!”

“It is.” Phillip softly spoke from the back of the room, “She’s my daughter, not yours.”

The room fell silent as Alan rose from the sofa and walked across to the mantle. “He’s known since she was born.” Beth declared, “But it doesn’t end there…”

“Will you shut up?” Olivia seethed with anger. “I think you’ve done enough as it is.”

“I’ve done enough? This is not even remotely my fault, you married Alan, you fell in love with Phillip, you kept the truth from all of us. This is your fault, this is his fault.” She pointed at Phillip.

“ENOUGH!” Alan roared as he slung a picture of him and Phillip from years gone by across the room. “Betrayed by my own son and my wife!” He braced himself against the mantle as Lillian reentered the room.

“Alan, Alan…you need to calm down.” Lillian lectured, “If you’re not careful you’ll have another heart attack.”

“Please he doesn’t have a heart.” Olivia replied. “The only reason we’re here is because Alan replaced my birth control pills with placebos. He tricked us all…”

“That still doesn’t change the facts.” Phillip told her, “I love her and I have for a very long time.” The words stung Beth and Alan bolted across the room but Olivia stepped between him and Phillip.

“You’re going to fight his damn battles now?”

“He’s still your son and you’re parading around her acting like an innocent bystander.”

Alan shook his head, “Get out of my house.” He told Phillip. “You get the hell out of my house and don’t bother coming into Spaulding in the morning you no longer work there.” He looked at Olivia, “As for you…”

“What?” She fired back, “Going to kick me out too? Like a big man, the great and powerful Alan Spaulding…” she laughed and declared, “I’m not going anywhere!”

“Oh the hell you’re not.” Alan grabbed her shoulder and pulled her towards the door.

“Get your damn hands off of her!” Phillip yelled, as Olivia broke free from Alan’s grip.

“Both of you get out!” Alan ordered as he headed towards the door.

“Apparently you weren’t listening Alan, darling!” Olivia stopped him. “I’m serious, I’m not going anywhere. Not tonight, not in the morning, not until I get what I want.”

“We have a prenuptial agreement.” Alan explained, “Or where you to busy screwing my son that you forgot.”

“I didn’t forget. But at the end of the day honey there’s only one Mrs. Alan Spaulding and that’s me and if you think she’s going quietly in the night, then you have forgotten who you’re dealing with.”

“You have lost everything Olivia!” Alan told her, “You agreed to those conditions when we got married, now get out!”

“And apparently you’ve forgotten how to read Alan or well at least your lawyer’s. Did you not think I would read that pre-nup, front wards, backwards, inside and out? There’s a loophole and I found it honey.”

“Impossible.” Alan retorted, “That’s the standard pre-nup I’ve used for years.”

“Well apparently all the former Mrs. Spaulding’s didn’t take the time to read the fine print, I did. Both said parties must be in agreement that dissolution of their marriage is in their best interests.” She quoted, “And that’s word-per-word! I just don’t think that is in our best interests Alan, I think we can work it out.”

“You’re crazy.”

“And you’re a fool so that makes us even.” Olivia told him, “So like I said I’m not going. Not until I get exactly what I want from you.” She headed out of the study and met Phillip. He agreed to take her suite at the Beacon and she instructed one of the servants to move everything out of the master suite she shared with Alan.

In the study where two broken souls, “Come on Beth let’s go home.” Lillian spoke, “Alan you’ll work through this you always manage to land on your feet.”

“You can stay Beth.” Alan told her, “There’s no reason for you to leave.”

“I meant what I said about being done with this family. I have no place in this house, in this family. I’m just one in a very long list of former Mrs. Spaulding’s and I’m fine with that.” She kissed his cheek, “Take care Alan.”

And it seemed to me the pain would last
My chance for happiness had passed
Nothing waited 'round the bend
I was sure I'd never find someone
To heal the damage you had done
My poor heart would never mend
Wrong again
Wrong again

Lillian took Beth’s arm, “I need to get my things, clothes, jewelry stuff like that.” Beth explained as she and Lillian met Phillip on the staircase. “Momma why don’t you go and pack James and Lizzie some clothes, I’ll be right up.”

“Is this what you wanted?”

“That’s rich coming from you because by your own admission Olivia is what you wanted, I just simply helped you get her.” Beth grabbed his arm. “I don’t think you will ever comprehend the hurt you have caused me tonight. You will never understand the depth to which I have loved you my entire life Phillip. I never imagined my love for you would ever end, but it has, our love, our life…” a single tear finally fell, “is over. As I walk away from you tonight know that you will regret the day you ever decided I was second best, I promise you you’ll regret ever crossing me.”

Rebecca Budig - Maeve Kinkead

Tulsa, OK (September 19, 2007) -- Hot on the heels of the recent announcement that three actors were given their walking papers comes news that two former actresses have signed on to "The Guiding Light."

Bethany Joy Galeotti who rejoined "LIGHT" in February 2007 will find herself leaving for a third time. Galeotti who played a teenage Reva in the late 90s departed in 2000 returned to the role at the request of producers. However, Galeotti has opted to leave. "I'm very sad to see Bethany leave," said executive producer Josh Hawkins. "She is an amazing actress who will be missed very much."

The role of Michelle has been recast twice in the last year since the current writing staff assumed the helm. "Michelle is and will always continue to remain a complex character," Hawkins noted. "The character is so vital to the stories that are beginning to be told in the coming months. Michelle is connected to the Bauer family, Danny and now the Lewis clan."

Effective immediately, Rebecca Budig who began her daytime career in 1995 as Michelle will return to the role nine years after departing in 1998. An Emmy nominated actress, Budig spent three years in Springfield before joining "All My Children" in 1999. "Rebecca brings something that none of the other Michelle's have had and that is what made me want her here," Hawkins concluded. Joining Budig will be another daytime star, Maeve Kinkead is slated to return to Springfield as a contract player!

"I have always maintained a deep love for Vanessa and said on more than one occassion that if there was a story she would be in Springfield, there's a story!" Smiles Hawkins. The executive producer stated earlier he wanted to take "LIGHT" back to it's roots and those roots include Vanessa Chamberlain Reardon.

"We'll be seeing Vanessa intergrate herself back into the lives of friends and loved ones as her story begins," the scribe confirmed. What does this mean for Vanessa's husband Matt Reardon? "Sadly, Kurt McKinney will not be returning and I have nothing else to say at this time regarding Matt."

Budig debuts on October 15 in Episode 084 and expect Vanessa to return shortly after Blake and Ross' wedding.
