  1. Because the artists have been dropping out and you know that Donnie always wants to look like he was the one who did the rejecting or... Because he's planning to resign and knows he won't be in office by then.
  2. Regarding Tina Fey, I'll be the odd man out and say I enjoyed her skit. I think it was less about telling people not to protest and more about trying to find a way to deal with the hopelessness and outrage of seeing what's happening around us. Plus she's right about the fact that the Nazis crave confrontation. Before Charlottesville there was a Nazi rally somewhere that lasted 45 minutes because everyone just treated them like crazy old men. As much as some hate to hear it, the best response to these rallies is crickets at the time and place they happen then a counter rally somewhere else.
  3. Yeah, this is just a gesture for the Dems but IMO it's an important one. One.) It forces the GOP to go on record as being with Donnie or against him and two.) It counters the narrative of the Dems as spineless. Let me know when one Republican is willing to jump ship.
  4. I've gotcha back.
  5. I wish I could say he wouldn't be that stupid but his cognitive impairment is so obvious now that it's clear that he simply has no self control.
  6. People in Durham, NC are lining up to turn themselves in for pulling down the statue of Robert E. Lee.
  7. He was drunk. The man is a raging alcoholic. Seriously. Read that interview in the voice of Otis from The Andy Griffith Show and it all makes sense. That motherf****r was loaded to the gills.
  8. Posting to try and bump this thread to the next page so we can get past that flickering image.
  9. Yeah, that image is causing some kind of issue with the thread. The problem is that the people who voted for Donald did something hateful and wrong but they don't want to be labeled as such. They thought they could vote for Nazis and the Klan then sit back and reap benefits. I'm glad she feels so defensive. It means that she's feeling attacked and she should. People who voted for 45 deserve to be marked by that choice forever.
  10. Unfortunately social media makes it almost impossible to hope we'll learn. There are too many people in this country and the world are living in a completely alternate fact-free universe.
  11. He couldn't stand the fact that he had been forced to behave like a functional adult. It's been eating at him and eating at him until he ended up with a brain full of snakes that had to slither out of his mouth.
  12. One thing I have been heartened by is how no matter how much Donnie distracts, WaPo and NY Times always come back to Russia. The Russia investigation is the thing he hates. It's the the thing that scares him. It's the thing that will take his sorry bloated ass down. The frightening thing is that I fully expect he will nuke North Korea before it does.
  13. His supporters live in an alternate universe. They really believe the economy is good because of him. I saw one troll on WaPo who said that his 401K is finally doing well after having lost money for the last eight years. There's no way that's true. That when you can tell these people are lying. It's like I said above, as long as he stays white and male they consider him a success. They didn't vote for his policies so it doesn't matter if they fail.
  14. I'm not going to get worked up over Arpaio. This smacks of exactly the kind of reality show hi-jinks he loves to float to keep his base happy.
  15. I go back and forth on that. I'm obviously very political but I have to admit that the non-stop outrage in my social media is grinding away at my soul. I know we can't normalize this but the level of outrage isn't sustainable or healthy. For example, all of these people demanding that Donald renounce white supremacists. What really would be the point of that? He is a white supremacist. He's always been one. His whole campaign and presidency is based on white nationalism. Why are people demanding that he lie to us? It's like the coal miners who refuse to accept that their jobs are gone. People need to stop thinking that the garbage in the White House is capable of decency. He isn't.
  16. Oh that's hilarious.
  17. If people are concerned about "preserving history" then put these things in a museum. They don't belong in public space. They never did. This isn't about history anymore. It's about the present. We have Nazis marching in our streets. We have white nationalists in our government. These statues are rallying points for terrorists. People who want to glorify the confederacy can do it on their own turf, their own time and their own dime. Meanwhile, I have to admit that I kind of enjoy watching this white supremacist chased through the streets.
  18. I hope they take that statue of Lee down and grind it into dust.
  19. And they would be right BUT it's time to realize that the Founders never could've imagined a world with social media just like they never could've imagined guns that could shoot multiple rounds per minute. Twitter is to the First Amendment what the AR-15 is to the Second. As an aside, I look at those photos and wonder if our trolls are in them.
  20. Obama tried to be president even for the people who didn't vote for him or actively hated him. He understood that's what it means to be a public servant. Republicans don't care about their constituents who aren't Republicans. Frankly they don't even care about the ones who are. I'm in a state that is ground zero in the opioid epidemic and I can't tell you how many people in red counties and districts want to just "let em die." We aren't talking about the usual targets of blacks, browns, LGBT, Muslim, etc... These are their family, friends and neighbors and they are fighting for the chance to kill them.
  21. When the stock market crashes (the way it always does under Republicans), it's going to make 1929 look like Mardi Gras.
  22. We need to stop being surprised by these people. It's a cult. They will support him even if it kills them. In fact a lot of them would consider dying at his hand to be a privilege. Look at those farmers who are getting screwed over by pulling out of the TPP. He told them he was going to do it but they voted for him anyway. And now that he did it and they are hurting they support him anyway. Their support of him isn't based on policies, it's based on white supremacy and misogyny. It doesn't matter if he destroys the world and/or their lives, he's a white man and that's good enough for them.
  23. What's really nauseating about Stein is that in addition to ratfucking the country she destroyed any chance of the Green Party ever being taken seriously. I know some people who really believe in that party and its platforms but she just turned it into one big grift.
  24. They didn't just search it. They searched it two weeks ago and we are just now finding out about it. This investigation has been moving way faster than people think. That's why you've got all these super lawyers joining. They didn't put their careers on hold just to spin their wheels.
  25. And of course there's this bitch....
