Hmm ... for a Katie/Bill/Shauna triangle?  Or is this just Brad Bell's way of insuring that Denise Richards would have to be available for the current story, then he can drop her again when she's no longer needed?

I would like to see her and Brooke interact more where they're butting heads.  But first, they need to give Shauna more of a backbone to stand up to Brooke.  Brooke's most interesting, to me anyway, when she has an adversary like Taylor or Stephanie.

I don't think Brad has any plan. He is unable to have plans. Denise Richards was probably off to recurring for a while to do some other projects. It was probably meant from the beginning. Sure she will be out as soon as possible.

  2. With information I got from recaps, closing credits and more, I tried to collect the contract changes from 1987 to 1994. I am sure there are a few mistaked here and then. Maybe some could help me correct them.

Season 1 is really a mixed bag. It's NOT good by any standards. For the longtime viewer however, it is still precious, thanks to the likes of La Flannery and some iconic first encounters and set-ups because there is lots of groundwork for the show's main characters. Up until Clarke's arrival it is basically skip-able IMO. I wasn't too gripped by Caroline's rape for instance. Season 2 starts to pick up steam and is good soap. Greatness is not often found, yet the characters get more life (and useless characters like Katie are more or less dropped), the production values improve drastically (probably due to foreign licensing sales...) and suddenly there are remotes, hospital sets get nicer etc.

The upload by AmySilence on YT is up to episode 409 right now. The Dutch Streaming Site is already in the 500s, though. And Sally Spectra should pop up around #420 or so. Therefore, there is quite a good reason to binge those classic B&B episodes. The picture quality alone makes it GREAT watching and even the weaker episodes are at least on par with 2019 soaps if not better. By 1989 B&B is REALLY watchable and begins to feel bold, beautiful and campy.

Mmmmm I can't find AmySilence on YT (at least not many episodes). Where can we access the Dutch streaming service?

  8. From the credits we saw online, Julianna McCarthy was still a member of the contract cast in May 1984. She was no longer part of the contract cast in June 1985. So I wonder if she was demoted to recurring status or was a member of the contract cast until she left in early 1985.

Unfortunately, an episode with credits from March 1985 was online but stopped after "Lauren Koslow".

  9. Indeed I liked Michael when he returned. I enjoyed him and even Gloria and Kevin until Michael and Lauren tied the knot. After 2005, it became outrageous like the rest of the show. Michael Was great alongside Diane, Sandra Nelson’s Phyllis or Grace in the late 1990s’

Katie Kennecott was a nursing student.   She came to town but did not stay long.

She was only on from January to July 1991 . She was also a nurse and was involved in a triangle with Joey Martin and Emily Ann Sago. Emily Ann was going through an hysterical pregnancy and Joey was falling for nurse Katie. Emily Ann went crazy. Thought that Katie was responsible from her "miscarriage" and tried to poison her. Joey saved Katie who returned to Vermont.

So they just did their own version of "If Ever I'm In Your Arms Again" (wasn't that the Eden/Cruz theme - or one of them...?). Thanks.

I had no idea. I was very young at the time but the song is famous here. Thought they had created it for the French opening the same way they did for Bold and Beautiful.

@Cat I agree with you about the Y&R themes. As much as I can enjoy the color versions of the late '80s and most of the '90s, I do think they date badly (especially the "Danny rocks out" shot...) whereas the charcoal drawings, complete with the gust of wind that starts the theme off, are more timeless. I also like the drawings from the '70s and early '80s. To me that is more unique.

I love the old photos for the B&B credits, especially Stephanie's shot (Macy's too) but that sax, which sounds like a scared dolphin, always got on my nerves.

The Santa Barbara theme truly is epic. I always figure it was one of the reasons the show was popular in Europe.

Not sure the opening was part of Santa Barbara success. In France the music was changed with some French lyrics. This music is well known here.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vj2Azxfq-aQ
