You know how petulant some children become when you even threaten to take away their toys. With Trump, it's no different. At the very least, I'd love to trick Pence into going to a drag bar. Who knows? His hair might even change back to its original color!

Do I really have to dismiss my Mike Pence-is-in-the-closet theory? Can't I keep it on the back burner for a little while longer? Pretty please? She didn't forget. The people she listened to (over even Bill's objections) did. The same people who refused to neutralize the "damn e-mails" by dealing with it head-on. I mean, Richard Nixon's "Checkers speech" was total b.s., and yet, it still came across to the American people as an otherwise dishonest politician attempting some candor. Hillary needed a "Checkers speech."

In that case, they can have the damn country.

IA, Julia. Their reason for doing this has no basis in fact (not that facts have ever stopped most of these people). IJS, if they believe a Starbucks employee committed an injustice against this man -- and again, I'm not saying she did, I'm only saying "if that's what they believe" -- then the LAST thing I would do in that situation is continue patronizing Starbucks. Because, in the end, all these idiots are doing is increasing the profits of a company they THINK is discriminating against white Trump supporters.

So this is no time to be holding grudges against the Republican establishment!

I don't care -- and I don't care either that they've served already as VP's and that a cabinet appointment would be looked upon as a step down (and probably unconstitutional). The future of this country is at stake, damnit!

At this point, I'd welcome even Dick Cheney and Dan Quayle.

On the other hand, this might be an opportunity for the Obamas to prove to critics such as yours truly that they are worthy of all the adoration and acclaim that they have received from constituents these past eight years. Very much like Jimmy Carter, who, IMO, has been a much better humanitarian than president. I would say that, in the next four to eight years, the "white working class" who voted for Trump will realize (gradually, and reluctantly) that this country IS passing them by and that no amount of "change" promised from inside or outside Washington will do anything to fix that.

"I thought nobody would vote for Trump [...] so I voted for him just for fun. What are my legal options?" You have the same options someone like me has for not voting at all. None. But we DO have to live with the idiocy of our decisions for the rest of our lives. So there's that.

As the late Leona Helmsley once said: "Only the little people pay taxes." And I'm assuming that by "little people," she didn't mean munchkins, leprechauns or the cast of "Little Women: L.A."

No, I'm saying sorry, because I stole your line from upthread. Specifically, this post: Our job is to never stop saying "I told you so." When the wall doesn't get built, "I told you so." When they lose their health insurance, "I told you so." When they send us back into a recession, "I told you so." When unemployment is back in the double digits, "I told you so." When Trump starts a trade war, "I told you so."

Hey, I didn't say we weren't in trouble in 2007, lol. I just wanted someone with more experience. I've never been one to go with "change," because real change is easier said than done.

I certainly think that's what happened to my father. Even though he had married my mother, who is a U.S. citizen, he never renewed his work visa, which expired the same year as their nuptials. And he never got around to addressing this until he retired in 2012 and needed his "green card" in order to receive Social Security benefits. Unfortunately, the week he was supposed to appear for a follow-up appointment with our local immigration office, he passed away unexpectedly. In that case, wouldn't it be just simpler just to apply for visas or citizenship from their country of origin BEFORE coming over here? Or is there something I'm overlooking?

Here is my question: why are undocumented immigrants unwilling to go through the legal channels toward citizenship (or at least resident alien status)? Is there too much government "red tape"? Do immigrants wishing to enter the US have to jump through too many metaphorical hoops to be here? Why do they enter illegally and take the risk of being deported (aside from the pat "they want their piece of the American dream" answer)? It's a serious question by the way, and I apologize for being so dense on the subject.
