  1. IIRC, I read that story on one of the other message boards -- danfling's, maybe? But I'm not sure.
  2. Yeah, I thought so, too. Either this was happening during the post-Mulgrew period of revolving Mary's, and they were looking to replace either Carney or Tolan with Braxton...or the story is a complete fabrication.
  3. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water....
  4. Take this with a huge grain of salt, but I read somewhere that Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer really wanted Stephanie Braxton to be the next Mary Ryan (that is, after ABC had talked them out of killing her off with Mulgrew still in the role -- which had been their original plan). Braxton was slated to leave her role as Tara on AMC; however, because Agnes Nixon had heard about Labine and Mayer's plans, she allegedly reversed course and kept Braxton a little longer on her show, thereby forcing Labine and Mayer to hire someone else. Again, though, take the rumor for what it is. Kathleen Tolan: good playwright, lousy actress.
  5. To me, the problem lay with the casting of NF, who seemed "nice" enough, but who also could be bland and forgettable. Cassie was just too important to the show at that point to be recast with someone whose prior claim to fame was an appearance in an Olive Garden commercial.
  6. The preservation of vintage TV shows, specials and movies has been piss-poor compared to that of classic films.
  7. From what I understand, the only reason the Josh/Reva/Cassie triangle happened at all was because LW was not there anymore to oppose it.
  8. From what I have seen of her, I think she might have made a better Jillian or Leigh than Mary.
  9. Favorite part of that scene: Ada. No matter how many disagreements she had had with Rachel over the years, she was always the first one there to protect and support her daughter whenever she was in trouble.
  10. Same here. Thank you, Paul Raven, for sharing that article. Ironically, I think GL (the TV version) had about the same number of regular viewers at the end of its run as the radio version had listeners at the time the article was written. Could you imagine, though, the insanity that would have ensued had Irna and the rest of the production team attempted separate stories for the radio and TV versions?
  11. Apparently, she played a murder victim with bad taste in skirts.
  12. The role was tailor-made for her.
  13. I think it was both. Harding Lemay has said that she believed it was a mistake to do TEXAS and play the softer, more sympathetic side of Iris (they paid her well, but she still felt it was a mistake); and in her infamous interview w/ Michael Logan shortly after leaving GL, she alluded to the fact that she ultimately left TEXAS for the same reason she left GL: she was tired, feeling overworked and angry.
  14. Apropos of nothing: I believe Barba has a "thing" for Carisi. He might insult the guy, but I think that's just his way of covering his real feelings. Trust. Watch.
  15. Sadly, I agree. It isn't that Olivia is incompetent as head of the SVU squad, per se -- because, on the face of it, she isn't. But...I don't know...it still feels to me like she's just filling in until Cragen returns (not happening, I know) or until "One P.P." assigns the new head. Frankly, I wonder whether it's time for MH to leave the show. They have Rollins, Tutuola, Amaro, Barba and now Carisi (who is growing on me, believe it or not). All they'd need is a new SVU head -- preferably someone from one of the other L&O shows -- and they might have a pretty solid program.
  16. Is that the episode where Webber's character falls for a hitchhiker who ends up getting killed (as does he)?
  17. She was also supposed to bear a striking resemblance vocally to Jaclyn Smith -- which I found to be absurd.
  18. As Jon Lovitz would say, "Acting!".
  19. It's a shame AMC killed off Frank and allowed Nancy (and Lisa Wilkinson) to slip through their fingers like that. But...sigh...I'm not surprised.

I'd like to see one co-host who is of Middle Eastern descent and/or a practicing Muslim.

I'd rather have Nicole, I guess, over some blow-up doll Fox News has discarded.
  22. Actually, Amy, it was the other way around. Stacy went undercover as Sammy Jo -- that is, when she wasn't undercover as a fashion model, porn star, prostitute or exotic dancer (...which seemed to happen all in the same episode sometimes...).
  23. KOCO is the ABC affiliate in my neck of the woods.
  24. Yep. Man, it's going to cost Farmers a [!@#$%^&*]-ton of cash to keep J.K. Simmons as their spokesperson.
