Did you catch the credits showing Leslie Denniston as Gwyn Alden? I never knew she had played the role.

Nigel Reed played Tim Werner at that time. I don't recall him having much of a storyline at all. He was written out around December 1982, which is when Guiding Light added an aged Rick and Phillip to the show. Another teenage character, Clay Tynan, played by Giancarlo Esposito, was introduced at that time but was gone within six months.

I never knew about the other Andrade daughters. How interesting.

@Golden - The original Capitol bible (written in 1980) referenced six McCandless children -- Tyler, Thomas, Wally, Lee (who became Matt), Karen, and Gillian. Karen and Gillian were twins and the daughters of Baxter's late brother. I remember Karen being mentioned early in the show's run.

Adair was on through the end of 1985. I think she moves to California.

According to a couple online sources, India returned in late 1998, so she did overlap with Marj Dusay's brief return as Alex. Here's a scene where India returns and interacts with Alex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwaXCNnCOH0 Jane was introduced in 1983 as the nanny that Amanda hired to care for her baby brother Matthew.

Hey guys. Had to share this little tidbit. Back in December, my partner Eric and I moved to Collingswood, NJ, which is just outside Philadelphia. It turns out that none other than Michael Corbett (Warren Carter on Search) was raised in our house. Michael's parents owned the house from around 1955 until circa 2005. Michael's mom still lives in the area and they sometimes come by to see the house. So, we're hoping he stops by at some point. By the by, Michael's real surname is Cianfrani. Margaret, his mother, is an artist and what's now our dining room was once her art studio. Here's her Web site, where you can see some paintings she did of Michael: http://www.margetheartist.com/ We're fortunate that the previous owner of our house left some Cianfrani memorabilia for us, including one of Margaret's paintings and Michael's childhood ruler.

ALL: They Almost Became
A couple things: * I thought Beth Ann Bonner and Alicia Leigh Willis were being considered for the role of Michelle Bauer, not Marah Lewis. There was strong talk in the spring of 2009 that GL was bringing back Michelle. I don't remember any talk of resurrecting Marah, though I could be wrong. * I'm not sure Edge was interested in Karen Lynn Gorney playing Nicole, but rather Gorney was interested in the role. There was a spread in People in 1981 that featured photos of the Edge cast at the 25th anniversary and Gorney was included in the photos. The article said that she was interested in the role after Jayne Bentzen had departed.

After looking at the scenes of Reva leaving the church, I believe those scenes were filmed at the same church that was used for the culmination of One Life to Live's homophobia storyline in August 1992. (Those scenes featured the AIDS Quilt.) The churches and grounds like remarkably alike. Interestingly, if that's the case, that means that the scenes were filmed in New Vernon, New Jersey, just a few towns away from Peapack!

Carl, It was actually Matt McCandless who punches Jordy in that clip, not Wally. And the clip ends with Fran and Amy Burke watching the footage on television. I believe Fran owned or worked at some kind of lakeside restaurant. As for Witherspoon, I had stopped watching Capitol by the time he was playing Tyler. I was really into One Life to Live at that point.

David Mason Daniels was the original Tyler and lasted 3 years -- from 1982 to 1985. He was then replaced by Dane Witherspoon, the original Joe Perkins from Santa Barbara. Witherspoon lasted from 1985 to 1986. I was never impressed with Daniels. His performance was lackluster and overshadowed by the more powerful performances of Bill Beyers and Nicholas Walker.

Tyler was written out before Capitol ended. I think he departed in 1986. And Hickland replaced Hilton in 1983, shortly after Julie and Tyler got married if memory serves me well. I completely forgot that Jordy and Julie were twins!

I gave up on Capitol by the end so I'm not sure about Lipton's reign. But it was Mark Denning who became the traitor. I always found it odd that the Amy/Fran storyline ended so abruptly. There was so much potential there, especially with her interactions with the rest of the Cleggs, including Brenda.

Some answers: Brenda - That's Leslie Graves as Brenda. Myrna and the Other Woman - The woman in question was Fran Burke, played by Lana Wood (sister of the late Natalie Wood). Fran and Sam had a daughter named Amy (played by Kimberly Ross) who was involved with Matt McCandless (then played by Christopher Durham). She had some kind of illness that caused bouts of temporary blindness. The Burkes were introduced in mid-1983 and were gone early in 1984. I believe Fran and Amy just moved away. Birth order - Tyler, Thomas, Matt, Wally. Of course, thanks to James Lipton, Matt turned out not to be a McCandless by birth. As for the Cleggs, I'm not so sure, but I always assumed it was Trey, Julie, Jordy, Brenda. Not sure if Amy how Amy fit into the order.

Somerset Discussion Thread
Sungrey, I have to read your continuation of Somerset! Years back, I started a fan fiction continuation of Somerset that picked up the stories of the show's original characters. My favorite plot dealt with Jerry Kane's new wife Allie who was seemingly very sweet, honest, and loving, but she harbored dark secrets. Allie eventually took Julian Cannell captive and tormented him for months as part of a warped campaign of vengeance on behalf of her late mother, Julian's first wife Zoe.

Margo McKenna plays Betsy in that clip. She went on to play Emily Gault Michaels on The Edge of Night starting in 1980. I couldn't stand McKenna when the story first aired but actually grew to like her when I saw the story repeated on AOL a few years back. Ted LePlat played the role of Betsy's husband Elliott Lange who had raped her, I believe. LePlat did go on to Guiding Light as Andy Norris and later Santa Barbara. But what a treat it is to see the opening in its entirety. I saw a remnant of it some years back (maybe on WoST). Visually it's simple yet beautiful. And the theme music was composed by Hagood Hardy, who wrote the theme to "The Homecoming," the movie that spawned "The Waltons."

OMG. Thanks for posting that. I haven't seen that opening in so many years. Truly one of the best theme songs ever.

Phillip learned Justin was his father around August 1983. Justin was written out a month later. I never understood the decision to axe Justin. Tom O'Rourke was a charismatic and talented actor and his Justin had major ties to Springfield. The character had major story potential that never materialized.
